i said before that i’d make an unofficial height map (for pre-skip students + the byleths) so here it finally is! you can click it to see the full size
i’d preface this post with four points:
@photographerh is an absolute genius and dimitri head measurements are henceforth called ‘dimetres’
all heights are taken from the character models and cutscenes
i have zero experience in anatomy/perspectives and eyeballed a lot of these so they might not be accurate. i do have reasoning for them though! see ‘evidence’ under the cut
the inches are arbitrary because we’re comparing the characters relative to each other. i added them so people can have a concrete, familiar measurement, but i also calculated dimetres (dm) for the curious (and to help identify the small differences)
also don’t mind the weird red horizontal lines; those were there to help me get my bearings
stuff to note:
marianne is the tallest girl and raphael is the tallest guy
bernadetta is the shortest girl and ashe is the shortest guy
the median is between dorothea and felix
girls from petra and below are the shorter half for the girls (f!byleth and beyond are the taller half)
guys from claude and below are the shorter half for the guys (ferdinand and beyond are the taller half)
edelgard has (arbitrarily) three inch heels
dimitri (6′1-2; 7.33 dm)
our anchor. he’s around 7.33 dm tall. i gave him an arbitrary height of 6′1.5 so the other heights would seem reasonable (see edelgard’s section for more explanation)
claude (6′1; 7.24 dm) without floof
shorter than dimitri. his spiky hair gives him ~>1 inch (0.15 dm) error
bylad (6′1-2; 7.31 dm)
roughly the same height as claude. he looks shorter because of the claude!spike, but i’d like to argue that bylad is actually taller since in this scene, he’s walking slightly behind him. it’s hard to say though, so his measurement’s questionable. in any case, he and claude are about the same height
bylass (5′6-7; 6.75 dm)
reaches up to a bit above of bylad’s eyes. could be shorter depending on bylad’s actual height
edelgard (5′6-7; 6.59 dm) with heels
just shy of bylad’s eyes (in the picture with the 3 lords + bylad), hence she’s shorter than bylass. her heels give her roughly three inches (0.29 dm) of extra height. i used this chart to help standardize the measurements for the inches, so there’s no special reason why it was this one in particular! i did have another picture that showed dimitri in comparison to obama/david cameron, but it was a bit weird bc i couldn’t find dimitri standing straight on a 1d line

her hat gives <1 inch (0.08 dm) error. we see her and edelgard in the same perspective during training, so it can be assumed that there are no extraneous variables. edelgard reaches up to her eyebrows

in comparison to dimitri, felix is a teeny tiny bit taller than dorothea. he reaches up to dimitri’s hairline

dorothea roughly reaches hubert’s eyes. in turn, hubert reaches dedue’s eyebrows
