spider-teens ★ D&D HEADCANONS
— hobie, gwen, miles, pavitr (+ peter b & mayday!)
Tumblr media
warnings: d&d jargon (there's definitions at the end if you're curious), shenanigans, miles being a NERDDD, a lil shorter than usual
a/n: how id imagine these lot playing d&d!!! ive only played / ran 5e so forgive me veteran players 😭 again feel free to add / disagree w me it's all in good fun
If MILES doesn't run the game, he plays a warlock for sure. Not because it fits him personality wise but because he wants to be a magic user but also not be held back by it. My man is thinking STRATEGY and takes every opportunity to geek out about the specifics of his abilities. He also definitely has a ridiculously fleshed-out backstory he's kind of too embarrassed to tell anyone about.
Either warlock or the nerd multi-classes and it confuses the hell out of EVERYONE... I feel like he tries a lot of the classes though so warlock is kind of a starting point when he's playing with his spider friends (he defo played fighter or sorcerer in the past)
Miles is the one who gets everyone together though (and jumps through universes to make sure everyone's on time 😭 he will NOT tolerate scheduling issues)
Peter B runs a lot of their games except he used to play 3e or Pathfinder back in the day (nerd...) so Miles is just like... gritting his teeth a little whenever Peter misses a little detail or a skill check. He probably used to play in high school / college I mean come on...
Speaking of Peter B OF COURSE he lets Mayday roll the dice. The entire party could depend on that roll and she's rolling it and everyone is TENSE (And he tries not to let her eat the dice... Tries.)
HOBIE plays a barbarian or rogue. He'd play a barbarian just for the hell of it (sounds cool) and would most definitely carry everyone by total accident because he's like... the only one alive.
Rogue also for the hell of it cause stealing is rebellious and that 😭 Though if he does play a rogue his character becomes one of the most unintentionally complex characters in the game.
Hobie would figure out the entire plot of the adventure completely by accident and Peter just laughs awkwardly and goes "You'll just have to find out next session!" and maybe dies inside (but it's not like he prepares for his sessions anyway 💀)
Absolutely crits at the most ridiculous times and derails the whole campaign because he decided to interrogate a minor political figure and now they're destabilising the region's government instead of fighting dragons
And he accidentally becomes the leader of like the whole village and maybe starts a revolution and Peter is sat there lips pressed together hands pressed together elbows on table like "...I guess that happens then."
Might cheat a little bit. Just a little. Not enough to ruin the campaign but enough to have Peter sweating 💀 A lil strand of web under his dice hurt nobody right? (Those goblins are DEAD dead)
Miles is gob-smacked and definitely a little jealous of him 😭
PAVITR originally wants to play a fighter because that sounds... cool as hell BUT when Miles explains the bard class to him he takes it and runs
I'd say Pavitr is relatively new to the game as are Hobie and Gwen but he hones in on the roleplay (not as seriously as Miles but definitely participates)
Probably leads the group and goes head-first into danger (Miles is literally pissing himself) and his character probably knows loads of languages cause he just conveniently picked a race with very useful languages for the adventure (as per Miles' suggestion)
But he goes out-of-character more than once to go "WTF????" when he doesn't manage to rizz up an NPC and they're have to roll for initiative (attempts to be a pacifist)
The goat when it comes to fights though he plays such a good supporting character and if he were to die everyone would totally be finished 😭🙏
GWEN plays either a monk or a wizard. I feel like she doesn't particularly mind but she plays wizard for a little bit before realising that she doesn't really like the magic stuff? Goes for monk and it's a lot simpler and more fun
More of an observer but is helpful when it comes to investigating areas and carries like EVERY item possible: potions, magical items, 20 rocks for some reason. Bag of holding girlie (like how she holds that trauma she has in real li—)
Has THE coolest weapons. Because her character can't rely on magic she's constantly upgrading or getting new weapons and her unique monk abilities come in handy again when exploring!!!
Totally makes fun of Miles (endearingly!) And maybe points out a plot hole in his backstory and he wants to curl up into a ball and disappear for a good minute (he rethinks his entire character for 2 nights straight)
Has an NPC she would protect with her LIFE. Barmaid at the inn? Anything for you sweetums 😁😁😁 *trips over and dies*
That's all given if they have an actually functional game... It takes them probably about like a year to finish a one-shot adventure
But it is SO worth the memories (albeit very chaotic memories.) Even when they're arguing over a roll (usually Hobie's) or someone's character has literally died they make it work through the power of friendship...! And a broken table
These guys are crazy I love them
"Embrace the chaos is the mood for tonight's session. AKA you guys are screwed... Roll initiative."
"What the hell?!"
"Don't swear in front of the kid!"
Jargon!
Campaign: A world containing one set of characters where different adventures take place
Dungeon Master / DM: The person who creates the story and runs the game
Skill check: Rolling a die to see if you've passed or failed a certain skill when performing an action (for example charisma when trying to persuade somebody)
Crit: Critical hit. When you roll a 20 on a 20-sided die. You deal loads of damage in a fight basically.
NPC: Non-playable character. Any characters who aren't the players within the universe. Controlled by the DM.
Initiative: The roll you have to make before a fight to decide the order of turns. "Roll initiative" means "you guys are in a fight now!!!! lmao!!!!"
🕸️🕷️💫
thank you for reading my insane midnight rant LMAOOO
i haven't played d&d in like 2 years so apologies if anything is diabolically wrong here 💀would love to hear your thoughts!
reblogs appreciated <3 read the rest of my atsv stuff here!

For some reason something that @thydungeongal posted reminded me of this
Back when I was a teen, in the D&D 3e days, I got really involved on the WotC forums. I started making characters for the "core coliseum" board, where they tried to run PVP (it was a hot mess). I think I was single-handedly responsible for them changing the rules three or four times; I exploited expendable items, suddenly the prize/leveling structure for winning changed. At some point they decided to start allowing splatbooks, and I had a great build in mind that was completely worthless until like level 10. I prepared to slow grind my way up, losing all the way, and one of the mods almost shut the whole board down because they couldn't tolerate the idea of someone not trying to win ("look at Snommelp! He doesn't even have a way to deal damage! We need to reign things back in NOW!")

You should tell us about the weird codependent relationship between the god of kobolds and tiamat.
So, in D&D, the god of kobolds is Kurtulmak. And Kurtulmak has a whole bag of chips on his shoulder. Originally, it was just against the gnomes, because gnomes and kobolds were set up as traditional enemies. But when 3e decided to lean into the idea that kobolds were wannabe dragons, Kurtulmak also developed something of a fixation on Tiamat.
I fleshed that out.
In my Prehistoric Game, The World Lost to Time, the relationship between Kurtulmak and Tiamat is similar to the relationship between Cthulhu and Azathoth in Derleth's interpretation of the Cthulhu Mythos. Kurtulmak is the high priest and evangelist for Tiamat among humanoids, but she barely notices him.
The Kobold Empire is the major power in Gondwana, the southern continental mass. It's a theocratic dictatorship, with the Emperor being seen as a living embodiment of Kurtulmak. Kurtulmak desperately wants to impress Tiamat and prove that he's just as much a dragon as any of her biological children. The worship of other gods is tolerated by non-kobold citizens, but kobolds may only worship Kurtulmak and Tiamat. Heresy is punishable by death.
Incidentally, the name of the current Kobold Emperor was Kojark X. Kojark was to kobolds like Henry to the English monarchy or Louis to the French, one of several names with a long historical lineage. And that was a reference to my first big boss, Kojark the Kobold King, who had a cool wizard tower and delusions of grandeur. That Kojark thought that that made him a legitimate world power when he was just a little weirdo. A powerful weirdo, but still.
So my players leaned right into this religious fascist paranoid setting. Partially because they wanted to RP the witch hunt mentality of immediately-post 9/11 America in a safer way, and also because they were a bunch of teenage boys, some of whom legitimately hated each other but I was the best DM they knew. So a major part of the first act of that campaign was an inquisitor of Tiamat played by one person sniffing around a decadent noble played by another person, whose character secretly worshiped the weird BDSM goddess from Book of Vile Darkness. The decadent tried to kill the inquisitor and failed, then the inquisitor brought him up on heresy charges and he was executed, and everyone agreed that was a fun way to end that character and that player brought in a new one. Who was a samurai who was growing ever more feral from a curse, who eventually killed the inquisitor when he (the samurai) was mind controlled by slaadi sorcerers. And that was a good ending for that character as well.
And now one of the players in that game? Is running his own game about zealous fascist kobolds, whose leadership is trying desperately to prevent the rank and file from learning that they can turn into true dragons.

Anecdotal experiences with fellow socio-types (socionics):
Tumblr media
SLIs
High affinity for food—especially junk, comfort and discretionary foods. This is a common observation with these dudes—If I had to throw a dart to the types that contribute most to obesity rates, it would be SLIs.
These individuals mostly opt for neutral, casual attire—I've rarely seen any SLIs in person wear flashy, colourful or bright clothing.
On the surface, usually seems dry, socially awkward and reserved, but tends to be soft, vulnerable and goofy if they cosy up to you (3E is a common psychosophy placement for these guys).
Able to let loose with close acquaintances but can be fucking lazy, unpunctual and sedentary. Conversely though, these guys possess amazing will-power when necessary.
The guys I know with this sociotype are all into gaming to some degree and enjoy kinaesthetic activities, like building/manipulation of tangible objects (e.g lego, crafting, fixing objects).
also tend to be attached to classic childhood shows and cartoons
aptitude for/usually likes vehicles.
Commonly opts for technical/mechanical careers and STEM subjects. Enjoys sports and practical activities.
ESI
Extremely pedantic, 'us-against-them' mentality, very critical of behaviour, diligent and organised, conservative and perfectionist, soft to the select few and very uncompromising to the rest
Appreciates hardworking, responsible and productive individuals
Very gamma Fi-Se valuing; avoidant of adversaries and poor relationships.
poorly tolerates chaos and hates immaturity, vulgar and irresponsible individuals
Exceptionally loyal and devoted to the few that they consider close and doesn't allow new acquaintances in easily
This is the type that silently judges you
usually neurotic and possesses a polarizing, black & white framework
slow to forgive—if at all. They are cautious and highly selective.

3E: Evil Gods And Ridiculous Rules
Bhaal. Cyric. Gruumsh. Shar. Myrkul. Malar. Talos. Lolth. Bane. Tiamat. The names of dreadful forces, towering gods of evil and spite, entities that draw power from the very nature of what it is they embody. These are the evil deities of the Forgotten Realms, whose machinations and operators sprawl across the world before you, and whose presence makes the world a diabolical and dangerous place. They are powerful, they are malicious, they are intelligent, they are gods and above all, uniting them all, they are evil.
These entities, by the rules for gods in worldbuilding laid out in 3e, don’t make any fucking sense.
In 3e, gods got mechanics. They got rules for how they worked and what that meant. There was, to some extent, an idea outlined in the rules for how a god’s power was proportionate to their worshippers. Gods that ruled over, functionally, regions or whole heritages, they were powerful in proportion to their oversight. And these gods would usually form some variety of a roughly-balanced pantheon, with tiers of gods, depending on their power and their availability and those tiers of power would inform what they could do or how much of the world they could influence, like factions in an RTS.
Now, first of all, giving anything as important and story relevant in terms of its potential vaguaries and flexible boundaries as a deity a hard set of rules and population statistics is foolish. It’s foolish because you don’t need it and it’s foolish because it doesn’t get you anything useful and it’s foolish because it creates boxes into which you start to pour populations, but it’s also foolish, specifically here, because in the existing pantheon of evil deities in D&D3e, it creates a relationship to power and worshippers.
Gods who have a lot of worshippers have more power. This creates an incentive for gods to nation build, to maintain control over populations, and that kinda makes them a great example of a sort of organically created fascism generator. Gods need control over populations to create populations that they can feed on, and it’s magically enforceable. I mean if you want a lot of fascist states with gods in it to kill, you can probably dictate that as a reasonable setup.
But the gods of evil in 3e weren’t like that. They weren’t all creating fiefdoms to maximise their populations, and what’s more, they weren’t doing it in a way that made sense. Evil gods in 3e were largely, just extremist philosophies that could draw their worship only from people who were explicitly, absolutely, and definitely evil.
Just as an example, Bane was a god of tyranny, evil and dominion. He has a church, and that church oversees the domains of fear, hatred and tyranny. That is: he has a church of total assholes. He has a church whose primary role in any city it sets up to promote, constantly, the recruitment and oppression of others.
In a civilised society.
The church of Bane is described in 3e as being pretty well organised and even pretty widespread. Talos has churches in major cities and they’re dedicated to a god of destruction and storms. Bhaal is a god of ritual murders, and he also has a church and you gotta ask yourself: Why.
Why do people have these things, why would they be tolerated in a city’s space?
Either on the one hand: The god is stupid, and they are spending their time wearing a hat saying ‘drive me out of sensible society,’ instead of focusing on mundane, reformed, deniably evil, or the god can’t do that and the followers of an evil god are probably less common than non-followers of that evil god. And how do they recruit?
In the real world, religions don’t tend to recruit from just any random interested party. There’s not actually a lot of shopping around for religion, and those that do tend to do it within a small circle of pre-existing interests. But let’s imagine for a moment that people do actually completely dispassionately evaluate religious options around them and opt for the ones that offer literally the best pitch, just how many people are going to go to the church that promises tyranny and oppression? Openly? Real world fascists who really want tyranny and oppression are a tiny minority and they operate in secret and use coded language, and often even lie to themselves about what they want.
What I’m saying is that in a conventional situation, any asshole god of dominion and evil that was capable of not calling themselves that would have a lot more opportunities to pick up worshippers. And they have to have a lot of worshippers, right? These gods are great and powerful outer gods, able to rival the gods of things people like like harvests and life and love. Remember Sune, the weirdly impotent goddess of love? Does love rank against evil?
Here’s an alternative of course: What if the gods of evil don’t have huge crowds of followers to rival the others but it’s their devotion to the evil god that gives them the power to go toe to toe with the other gods? That creates a new problem where apparently, literally, hate is more powerful than love.
A third path, I suppose, is that most people don’t worship gods at all, and that most people are instead just putting out an ambient sort of ‘yeah, gods exist’ vibe that doesn’t actually translate into power for the god. You know, belief is a currency you have to specifically spend, which unfortunately begs the question of why aren’t milquetoast gods scooping that up?
Okay, so what of it? Like sure, I’ve already talked about the ways that third edition worldbuilding had problems, sure. This is just one more of them, the way that you got the peculiarities of a polytheistic pantheon devised by monotheistic men who operated on the assumption that the god they worshipped actually existed, really, and therefore, there was no particular difficulty just copy-pasting religion structures.
In that regard, the way that polytheism is practiced in in third edition is nothing like the way polytheism is practiced in real life. See, the gods in these worlds exist. They’re real, they’re agents, there’s no need to believe in them to ensure they exist at all – which most real world gods, to be careful about, seem to need. In the real world, a lot of polytheistic belief is not about picking a dude in the lineup to team sports after, but to instead understand that all of reality around you is a relationship between these groups. That there are places and times that make each of them important and that they relate to your life in different ways. Sailors don’t worship Neptune because they’re sailors, but they offer prayers and sacrifices to Neptune before they go onto the water because they’re about to go wandering around in that dude’s house.
And all of this, all of this is because the world building had a need to give stats to things. To create a world where Greater Outer Gods had lower Divine Rank stats than gods with Greater Inner God status, and we have terms like Quasi-Deity for Hero Gods. Where multiple collapsed aspects of a god can have their stats gamed out for fights with The God itself.
3e really tried to quantify some very silly things.

"3sex" - Indochine & Christine and the Queens
Entry 33 into the #FearOfMu21c project, crowdsourcing the greatest singles of the 21st century. Here’s an index post.
This 2020 single was a reworking of "3e sexe", a tune Indochine originally recorded in 1985.
Back in the day, it was a progressive song about sexual tolerance. Lyrics about queerness and gender fluidity were unusual in 1985, though "3e sexe" didn't attract anything like as much hatred as "Relax".
A third of a century later, the ideas are still timely and relevant.
Tumblr media
Chris, the singer with Christine And The Queens, wrote
"Thank you @nicolasirkis @indochinetwitt for having done me the honor and the confidence of singing 3SEX with you at a time when the very word freedom takes on all its meaning and urgency. Real revolutions never die. I kiss you.”
Both Chris and Indochine worked in support of the #MusicToo movement in France, who described themselves as an “anonymous collective against gender-based and sexual violence in the music industry”.
Colin Solal Cardo directed a crisp black-and-white video where Chris interacts with Indochine frontman Nicola Sirkis.

This was an old idea but: A dressing down of winter uniforms when summer is nearing!
Because there is no way any kid could survive late June wearing winter uniforms immaculately, especially since they're in a non-airconditioned wooden building located on top of a mountain, and that they're in a very humid country.
I'm not entirely well-versed with the whole winter-summer uniform switch going on in Japan. But considering that 3E hadn't changed to their summer uniforms until July, I think it'd be safe to assume that students aren't permitted to switch out of their winter uniforms until a specific time period had come (and in their case, July 1st).
So I decided to loosely base their dressing down to the way they wore their summer uniforms. Hence, Chiba and Nakamura are matching with their opened collar + sweater vest + rolled up sleeves combi (tho I've had Chiba loosely keep his tie this time).
As for Okuda, I think she'd be too shy to dress down to a certain extent, so the most change I could give to her was to replace her blazer with the school's issued waistcoat.
Nagisa and Sugino would have zero changes then since both have dressed down to the point that they can tolerate even the hottest day of June lol. And Karma would then already switch to his summer uniform since all he did was to roll up the sleeves of his cardigan, which is already a pre-summer dressing down itself.

The Originals: Elijah Mikaelson: ISFJ 1w2
Myers Briggs: ISFJ
Si: Elijah internalizes traditional values, such as his family and his home. He is focused on past memories and helping Klaus become the person he once was. He pays close attention to detail and his internal senses, like his clothes. He remembers things from a thousand years ago in great detail.
Fe: Elijah is warm and empathic, especially to the ones he loves. He will do anything for the ones he cares about, and sees peace in New Orleans as the right way to protect his family. He creates group unity even when the factions of the supernatural community are at war with each other.
Ti: Elijah is analytical and notices logical inconsistencies in other people. He is very intelligent and perceptive about the world around him.
Ne: Elijah may be focused primarily on the past, but still looks to possibilities in the future and understands that the world is a dynamic, changing place. However, he refuses to believe that Klaus cannot go back to being the way he once was, except when they were estranged. This makes him extremely loyal to his brother and to his plan to help Klaus find his redemption.
Enneagram: 1w2
Elijah is very principled and perfectionistic. He seeks to improve the city of New Orleans so he can do right by his neice and help his brother redeem himself. Everything he does in New Orleans is to help Klaus become a better version of himself. He is very moral but also caring to his family and becomes upset when they do not reciprocate his affection. He denies his feelings for Hayley because he does not want to be what he sees as disloyal to Klaus, but he still takes care of her regardless. Elijah is willing to do anything for his family, even sacrifice himself, and feels his purpose is to serve his family.
OSPP Temperament: Phlegmatic Choleric
Elijah primarily wants to help people, specifically his family. He is caring and loving, wanting to do right by his family and especially Klaus. He is warm and accommodating and in season one seeks peace in New Orleans because it is right and will keep Hope safe when she is born. Elijah is kind but can be blunt and sarcastic when under stress. Elijah fights for what he believes in, which is defending his family and his home. He is efficient and does not tolerate others who oppose his plans to protect his family. He can be pushy about getting what he wants done, although not as pushy as Klaus, who is primarily Choleric.
Attitudinal Psyche: FVEL
1F Confident Physics: Elijah is very aware of his physical needs and wants. He is well dressed and likes to live in comfort. He likes to organize his environment in a pleasing way. He is a good fighter.
2V Flexible Volition: Elijah is a take charge person and when protecting his family will exploit others to achieve his goals, like when he kidnaps Elena in the Vampire Diaries in order to stop Esther’s spell. Elijah is not afraid to tell others what to do when in a leadership position, but is not as aggressive as Klaus, like when he strives to create peace in New Orleans in The Originals.
3E Insecure Emotion: Elijah is not as in touch with his own emotions and instead focuses on the emotions of his family and protecting them. He represses his feelings until they bubble to the surface, causing him to occasionally have outbursts.
4L Unbothered Logic: Elijah is not as focused on correct versus incorrect and takes his time formulating an opinion, and sometimes his feelings can cloud his judgement.

Episode 13: Meant to Fly
"Hmph!"
In the red corner, we had the fierce demon girl, full of spice and life.
"Hmph!"
In the blue corner, we had the doting daddy with his foot planted firmly, both literally and metaphorically.
"Hmph!"
"Hmph!"
And in the center, the simple mortal, more confused than a bird in a footrace.
"Hmph!"
If I hear "Hmph" one more damn time . . .
At the dining room table, the two of them clashed, each seated at either end as they folded their arms and puffed their cheeks.
Something new every night.
"MC," Agatha said, "tell Daddy he's not being fair."
"MC," Malak bit back, "tell Agatha she's being naïve."
So, I'm like a parrot now? Does that add to my mortal status or just replace it?
"I don't even know what's happening," I pointed out. "Soon as I came through the door, you put me in this chair then went huffing and puffing."
"I just told you," Agatha said. "Daddy's being a jerkface."
"You watch that language, young lady," Malak warned. "I will not tolerate disrespect."
"Hard to respect you when you're being a tryant!"
"You mean tyrant?" I asked.
"What they said!"

Dragon Song
The 3E exam was Toyama’s most difficult day. Afterwards, he always had to do a difficult counseling and comfort session with all the students about their visions. And for some who didn’t make the cut, his sessions would include brainwashing and memory wiping to make them forget everything about Cassell so they could go home and continue their lives, ignorant of everything they experienced here.
He made his way back to his office and sat behind the desk.
He sighed and cleaned his glasses while he waited. No one ever knew what was going on in there. Only those who were monitoring with the cameras namely EVA. Whatever happened, the medical team was ready to take care of it.
But he felt the muscles in his neck were tense and his heart was beating faster than normal. His analytical brain told him he was worried about Tigre. Even though he told himself it was pointless to worry about him, that his fate was with the College now, he couldn’t stop.
So he spoke to himself in casual calm language. “I think its time to admit, that your care for that boy has gone beyond what is professional.” He slid the glasses onto his nose.
“You could barely leave him there properly without tears coming right? That’s why you left so abruptly. Right now the test is starting and his dragonblood is waking up. He might attack the students inside once he realizes what he is. And then he has no future. You tried. You did all you could. But it’s possible he was doomed from the start.”
“But the heart will do what it will do. Heh... you’re not immune, Toyoma-kun.” He chuckled to himself. “But you cannot drink. Your students will need you now more than ever. You can go drink later.”
The phone, a traditional rotary, rang loudly in the silence. He picked up. “Toyama speaking.”
The raspy inhale told him who was speaking. Schneider’s voice came over the earpiece, “I can patch you into the feed. I would like you to watch.”
“Watch the boy turn into a monster? I don’t think so...”
“That’s not what’s happening. I’ll send the link to your cell.”
Toyama’s cellphone let up and he cradled the landline against his ear while he clicked the link provided.
The video feed showed the classroom.
Normally the 3 E was absolute mayhem as each of the students’ minds were lost in the sound, like listening to a favorite song, the mind wandered and the body followed and they were compelled to write down their visionary inscriptions on the paper or on whatever other surface they could find. But what Toyama saw made his jaw drop in shock.
Tigre was singing.
He wasn’t just singing, he was singing with a smile of rapturous joy, tears pouring down his face. He wasn’t writing down his answers, he was singing them, speaking each dragon word in turn. As the dragon verses shifted, he would listen briefly and his eyes closed and he would hold in hands to his chest, his face beaming with joy before belting out a full throated perfect rendition of that Yanling.
Toyama felt his eyes burn and quickly blinked away tears for a moment. Relief washed over him like a flood and his smile started to echo Tigre’s. He felt proud that Tigre was succeeding. He wasn’t just performing well on the test, but he wasn't being violent. Quite the opposite. He was joyous, happier than Toyama had ever seen him.
But then in the next moment Toyama’s blood ran cold.
Dragon language wasn’t just words. They were commands. They could impose a rule upon an area to control the elements. They could command a forest to burn. They could command a storm, a drought, a flood, an earthquake, or lightning. Some abilities were so strong, they would destroy the user. If it wasn’t for the restriction placed on the use of this sacred speech by the College’s alchemical array, Tigre would have joyfully sang out and destroyed the entire college and possibly all of Chicago.
“Dear... God...” Toyama whispered. “Is he a Dragon King?”
“No. If he was, we would have erased him and shoved his body in the Ice Cellar. But he is a hybrid of Dragon King level resonance. He’s different from the other hybrids in other ways too. We’ve run other tests. Nothing about this man is natural... and yet everything is.”
“Is this why you have brought him here? Why you were interested?”
“I’m afraid that’s all I can tell you. We’re still studying. In the meantime, you should probably go out to meet him. He doesn’t have anyone else to talk to.”
Schneider hung up the phone. Toyama was brought back to reality. Yes he did feel fond of Tigre... but he was still a doctor and Tigre was his patient. He would have to carefully maintain his mind so he didn’t go berserk and bring ruin to the college. He stood up and made his way back to the library. When he came back outside, the thunderstorm had intensified. Lightning cut across the sky and thunder roared, as thought the sky itself were cracking apart. The trees swayed heavy in the wind.
----
When Tigre came out of his trance, his throat hurt, his jaw hurt and his face was sticky with tears. He was shaking and exhausted. He wasn’t at his desk any more but standing in the middle of the room. He wanted to see Toyama and tell him that he wasn’t mad at him for leaving him alone. So when he found him waiting outside, he ran up to him and hugged him, babbling uncontrollably all sorts of silly things while Toyama told him to get some rest while stroking his hair.
He suddenly realized after that that other students were filing out. All the other students looked exhausted and limp. He turned to them with a joyous face, but they all just flinched away from him, looking at him with tear streaked faces. Even Porsche, who seemed vibrant and sassy before, hugged her two sisters while crying uncontrollably. Celeste glared at him accusingly and Tigre flinched away.
“Don’t mind them. Most people don’t experience joy like yours.” Toyama pulled him away from the other students. “I will have to go help them with their feelings.”
Tigre was confused. Why would anyone be sad about what he’d just heard? “Toyama-san, I saw something amazing. You knew right? You knew what I was!”
“I had no idea exactly what you were.” Toyama said patiently. “No one did. Your vision is one that’s personal to you, something deep in your heart.”
Tigre reached up and touched his chest. “But... I don’t have anything there.”
“Maybe that’s...” Toyama wanted to say ‘for the best’ but he didn’t finish his sentence. “I have to go. You’re a student now, so you’re free to roam about as you like. Stay out of trouble. Okay?”
“Okay...” Tigre said meekly and watched Toyama walk towards the three sisters. Only Celeste wasn’t crying, she only looked extremely angry.
No one was happy, except for him.
He walked out to stare at the pouring rain in the entrance. He looked up at the sky that also seemed to be sad. But why? Those voices in his head were still ringing. He could recite every single word. But he whispered them, staying quiet. He continued to whisper those sacred words into the grey. They were still beautiful in his ears.
“Do you not have an umbrella?”
His dampened mood rose again! “Chu Zihang!”
Without thinking he hugged the flinching man who just tolerated it.
Tigre released him quickly. “Oh... I’m sorry.”
“It’s normal to be emotional after this. I’m happy you made it. The results will take a few hours to process, but Schneider sent me to congratulate you. He’s my mentor.” Chu Zihang’s eyes were dark and not the yellow he remembered.
“You wear contacts too.” Tigre realized.
“Yes. Toyama explained?” Chu Zihang raised his umbrella. It was large enough for both of them as they walked. He was calm like a granite stone. Tigre was a raw nerve of emotion.
“Yes. I remembered looking into your eyes and feeling something through them like what I heard today. No wonder I recognized you! You  really are my brother! But for the other students, they were very sad. I don’t... understand why...” He looked back at the Library that was shrouded in the rain.
“You’d have to ask them personally. I can’t speak for them. When my dragonblood awoke, I saw a very disturbing image myself. And then something tragic happened. So that memory is sad for me too.”
“Is that why its raining?” Tigre mumbled.
Zihang tilted his head. “I don’t think emotions can effect the weather. Though many people associate rain with sadness. In truth a tropical wave has been pushed up from the gulf by the jet stream.”
“Oh.” Was all Tigre should say, understanding nothing.
“You’re still shaken up. Let me get you something to eat. You’ll be hungry.”
"Ah! You’re right! My stomach is growling a lot!” Tigre said in shock.
“You must have resonated very strongly. You were just standing there in the entrance to the library staring into space and now you didn’t realize you were hungry...”
“It was wonderful.” He breathed. “I wish I could listen to it again. I’ll listen to it forever.”
Chu Zihang glanced down at him and didn’t comment.
“Have you been out of the hospital long? Why didn’t you visit me?” Tigre bounced along deliberately splashing in the puddles.
“I was recovering still and then after that, Schneider kept me updated on your progress. I couldn’t visit you because visits were not permitted while you adjusted to life outside of prison.”
“Oh... we’re going to your dorm?” He asked recognizing the residential building.
“Yes. I want to introduce you to a few of my friends. One of them, Lu Mingfei is also looking forward to seeing you.”
“Oh Okay... neat.”
Chu Zihang opened the door to the dorm and there were many people there! It was like a party! When he saw all these people. He was moved to tears again! He covered his eyes with his arm. “Sorry!”
One of them, a dark haired Chinese boy chuckled. “Don’t worry. Everyone cried at my 3E. You’re fine.”
Chu Zihang introduced him. “This is Lu Mingfei. He’s the president of the Student Union...”
“Kinda sorta... really I just kinda hang out here while other people do things for me.” He said bashfully.
A tall muscular blond grinned. “I’m Finger Von Frings.”
“And I’m Susie. Congratulations. Sounds like you passed.” She was a petite Chinese girl, making her the third Chinese in the group.
“I’m Zero. Pleasure.” Said a soft spoken blond girl with a Russian accent, who looked bored to be there.
“This is for you.” Chu Zihang handed him a small box covered in paper and a ribbon, like one of those Christmas gifts he’d seen in pictures.
“Thank you... can I open it?”
“If you want.” Chu Zihang mumbled.
Tigre pulled the ribbon and then opened the box after carefully shredding the paper. Inside was a brand new tablet computer. “It will be useful for studying.”
“Wow... thank you!” He laughed. Then he paused. “What is it?”

Meet Meryse
Meryse Rielle is my new Hero of Kvatch. She was born in Daggerfall in 3E 406. (Yes, that makes her my second late-Third Era Hero who is 27 at the start of the respective prophecy; no I did not do that on purpose.) She was 11 when the Warp in the West happened, and being a proto-Hero she was able to sort of perceive and process the Breaking more than most people, but adults would brush her off when she tried to ask anything about it, and that bugged her. So when she grew up she started to do research into what happened, and her research eventually led her to Cyrodiil.
She's never really liked or trusted the Empire. She saw what they did to her homeland to win their allegiance, and believed that everyone brushing her off was at least in part some sort of coverup, though she also recognized that there was something weirder involved too. In her studies, she also tried her best to keep tabs on other secret Imperial activities and movement of the Blades, like the time they were rumored to send an agent to overthrow Morrowind's government and religion because they were resisting Imperial control, for example. Generally, she doesn't buy the whole "We're so tolerant and forward-thinking!" shtick that the Empire likes to play; she thinks they want control and they will commit war crimes (even if they don't even have Geneva) to get it.
Her parents wish she would just be a nice mage and focus on studies that are less likely to raise Imperial eyebrows, befriend the nobility, and work on finding her place in society. When she says she's going to Cyrodiil, they're tentatively optimistic that she's maybe growing up and picked up a task from a noble, but they're quickly disappointed when they learn that it's pretty much the opposite of that.
When she gets to Cyrodiil, she doesn't trust the Empire or anyone loyal to it to give her any answers she's looking for outright. So she decides to go to the Elder Scrolls Library on official research pretenses and see if she can uncover anything. She gets caught snooping through less public areas and trying to copy things down for future reference, and gets arrested, and so her journey begins.
