Top Non-Harley Baggers For 2020

Top Non-Harley Baggers For 2020
Tumblr media
We’re not sure from the status these days, but for many years the particular top-selling motorcycle in the US has been Harley-Davidson’s Street Slip , a powerful, 1, 750cc V-twin with a sleek, batwing-style fairing plus roomy, hard saddlebags that’ll take plenty of cargo. Thanks to its ease and comfort, performance, accommodations, and creature conveniences like a windscreen, stereo, and GPS NAVIGATION, it’s a great bike for most any kind of purpose, whether you’re cruising the particular boardwalk, rolling through the mountains, or even eating up interstate miles.
But if you aren’t necessarily cool to the cathedral of Harley , your options have not been better or more varied. Among the bikes below, in no specific order, might be the right one for you.
Related: The Most Effective Cruisers In 2019
BMW Nited kingdom 1600 B
BMW will not do things by halves, and its K 1600 N bagger is evidence positive, even in this traditionally oriented cruiser segment. It all starts listed below, with an incredibly smooth, liquid-cooled one, 649cc inline six-cylinder mill dishing out a crazy 160 hp plus 129 pound-feet of torque (claimed). Match and finish are excellent, and you also get floorboards, but there’s simply no mistaking this model for a V-twin bagger—the dynamic sloping line could be the first sign that BMW does not subscribe to the usual cruiser styling tropes. While it’s not fully automatic, it really is almost effortless thanks to BMW’s Change Assist and it’s even obtained a reverse gear. What otherwise? Right—there are cruise and grip control, ABS, ride modes, Digital Suspension Adjustment, and a zillion various other high-tech features including standard warmed seats and grips. At just northern of $20K, that’s a lot of beat for your deutsche mark—er, sorry, euro—but that’s partly because there’s simply no standard navigation and the stereo is lame. Which really don’t look like dealbreakers to us. MSRP for that 2020 model is $20, 095.
Ford Gold Wing
Honda totally redesigned its flagship tourer in 2018, deleting the top case, cutting off its girth, and shaving nearly 100 pounds of weight. Exactly what you’re looking at is called simply “Gold Wing” these days. The stripped-down bagger exploits its new, slimmer physical structure fully with that 1, 833cc flat-six mill, which is now free of the additional pounds and can better uncork individuals 125 horses. The Honda-patented double-wishbone front end makes for a plush trip, and the perfectly neutral riding place coupled with a surprisingly deep low fat angle just begs pilots to search out twisty corners. For $23, eight hundred, you can have a bagger unlike every other, replete with all the high-tech accoutrements—full-color screen, cruise control, ABS, stereo, and so forth —and an incredibly responsive powerband along with crisp handling, excellent braking, plus phenomenal suspension. And $1, two hundred more—that’s $25K flat, a full $2, 000 less than a new Street Slip Special—you can have it with DCT, Honda’s groundbreaking automatic transmission. MSRP for the base 2020 model is definitely $23, 800.
Indian Challenger
Like Harley, Indian has solid a wide net in the bagger portion, offering three entire families—the Opposition series, the Chieftain series, as well as the Springfield group, for a whopping overall of 10 models—each with various degrees of touring amenities. The latest plus greatest—and Indian’s admitted shot towards Harley’s Road Glide—is the brand-new liquid-cooled, fixed-fairing Challenger . It packs Indian’s most powerful V-twin yet, the amazing 1, 768cc PowerPlus engine, which usually put out a healthy 103. 1 hp and 113. 1 pound-feet of torque on Cycle World ’s Dynojet dyno . A new throw aluminum chassis uses that motor as a load-bearing component, and there are a more premium level of other pieces too, like a hydraulically adjustable Sibel shock. The all-new front fairing is mounted to the chassis, just like Harley’s Road Glide, as are the 2 storage areas on the inside of the fairing. Strength adjustable windshield? Check. Same 7-inch display screen and Ride Command program, with updated processor, and climate and traffic overlay info because Indian’s other big-bore baggers? Check. The Challenger comes in three minimizes, the Challenger, Challenger Dark Equine, and Challenger Limited, with MSRP starting at $21, 999.
Indian Chieftain Family
The batwing-fairing-ed Chieftain family is its many comprehensive, with five models, many boasting a look that shuns the particular company’s signature neo-retro styling for any sleeker, more modern vibe. But almost all still retain all the now-requisite bagger amenities, including ABS, cruise manage, locking saddlebags, an in-dash, touch screen infotainment system, three selectable trip modes and even a rear-cylinder deactivation function. When we rode the revamped Native indian Chieftain last year, i was already grinning like fools, however it turns out there was more to come: Intended for 2020, the majority of the Chieftains got a significant update in the form of a new 116ci air-cooled V-twin engine with a high-flow cyl-head. The Thunder Stroke 116 is currently available on the Chieftain and regular on the Chieftain Dark Horse, Chieftain Limited, and Chieftain Elite; the particular Chieftain Classic retains the Oklahoma city Stroke 111. Also new with regard to 2020 is the revamped RideCommand infotainment system and app. The Chieftains start at $21, 999 and proceed all the way up to $34, 999.
The Indian Springfield collection, meanwhile, goes the more classic path, with a large valanced fenders as well as a big touring shield (or not one in the case of the Springfield Dark Horse); MSRP starts at $20, 999.

Kawasaki Vaquero
Kawasaki’s 1700 Vulcan Vaquero ABS is back pertaining to 2020 with exactly zero modifications, but that doesn’t mean it is still not worth a nearer look, especially from a value perspective. This good-looking V-twin bagger provides most of the same creature comforts since the Street Glide: a frame-mounted fairing, lockable hard saddlebags, a powerful motor, ABS, cruise control, lockable saddlebags, and a stereo. It doesn’t, nevertheless , boast an infotainment system, therefore there’s no full-color touchscreen, simply no GPS, and no wireless Bluetooth connection. Whatever—not everybody wants (or needs, frankly) the distraction of all that technology, and that’s why the 2020 model progresses off the showroom floor for under $17, 000 brand new, with a full three-year factory warranty. If you can do with out all the high-tech toys, that’s quite a sweet deal on a powerful, significant bagger. The MSRP for 2020 model is a budget-friendly $16, 799.
Moto Guzzi MGX-21
Carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer body parts, red valve covers, one, 400c transverse twin engine, 21-inch front wheel—there’s not a lot of the same-old, same-old on Guzzi’s batwinged bagger. When it premiered at Sturgis back in ’17 we loved almost everything regarding it—and as it hasn’t changed whatsoever since then. It’s a visually spectacular bike, with a swooping, voluptuous amount unlike any other, and you’d never ever guess the Moto Guzzi MGX-21 Flying Fortress is based on the Ca 1400 cruiser platform. It delivers an impressive payload of features plus imbues them with distinct Italian sparkle as you can see on the sculpted integrated difficult bags, bar-mounted half fairing along with chopped windscreen, cruise control, plus ABS brakes. It’s all run by the big-inch, four-valve-per-cylinder, air-cooled V-twin splayed out in Guzzi’s well-known perfect-balanced 90-degree vee with the turn longitudinally mounted. That 21-inch front side wheel can get squirrelly at lower speed, but if you learn to anticipate that, no sweat. MSRP intended for 2020 is $21, 990.
Moto Guzzi California 1400 Touring
Classic and classy, the Moto Guzzi Ca 1400 Touring epitomizes a modern-looking bagger, yet still hews close to its classic roots along with long, sweeping lines and curvaceous accents but nothing overly flashy within the styling department. The bike is really a design throwback to Guzzi’s beauty days, running a large touring protect, floorboards, spoke-looking (but alloy) tires and dripping with chrome. From the performance and function perspective, the particular 1400 Touring features all the features a modern rider could want, for example ride-by-wire throttle control, electronic luxury cruise control, dual-channel ABS, and MGCT traction control. There are even three selectable ride modes, which is pretty amazing when you look at the throwback style. The particular 90-degree V-twin engine features 4 valves per cylinder and an extremely peppy 78. 86 pound-feet torque capacity at the rear wheel, delivering the get-up-and-go factor that definitely units this bike apart from the rest of the traditional bagger set. For 2020, the particular MSRP is $18, 490.

Yamaha Star Eluder
Yamaha’s newest bagger, the Star Eluder , is really a leaner, meaner riff on the full-dress Venture. It has the same engine, framework, suspension, brakes—heck, you’ll find just about all the underpinnings from its Venture stablemate. That means a grunty air-cooled 113ci (1, 854cc) V-twin engine along with twin counterbalancers outputting 126 pound-feet of torque, and a character that straddles the line between smooth delivery plus traditional V-twin rumble. The ride-by-wire throttle control is also carried more than, but the Eluder’s six-speed transmission functions new ratios to exploit all that low-end torque. Traction control, ABS, plus cruise control are all standard as well, as is the Venture’s infotainment deal, which includes a 7-inch full-color LCD. To help make the Eluder, Yamaha ditched the Venture’s top box, swapped out the large windscreen or dashboard for a shorter one, and changed much of the chrome pieces along with black. With that menacing-looking fairing, the particular Eluder figures to be a solid participant in the big-bore bagger class.
The 2020 Star Eluder will lighten your wallet towards the tune of $22, 499.

2021 Honda Pilot’s Nets New SE Trim, Nine-Speed Auto, and a Price Hike
The current-generation Honda Pilot is getting on in years, but it is hardly showing its age. That’s because Honda makes frequent small updates to the roomy and practical three-row SUV, including a styling refresh the year before last. For 2021, the Pilot receives a special edition trim and comes standard with the nine-speed automatic transmission across the line (previously it reserved for upper trim levels, while lower-spec models used a six-speed).
For its extra three forward speeds, the entry-level 2021 Honda Pilot LX sees a price increase of $725, to $33,370. It is more expensive, therefore, than the base Chevrolet Traverse (which also is much larger) but still less expensive than the more similarly sized Toyota Highlander. Prices on the mid-level EX and EX-L trims have swelled by $525, while the Touring, Elite, and new-for-2020 Black Edition see negligible price increases of $325.
While it’s nice that every Pilot now comes standard with Honda’s nine-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the six-speed unit on the LX, EX, and EX-L, we’ve had our gripes about the nine-speed. Even after Honda tweaked the transmission for the 2019 model year, it still remained not quite as smooth as we’d like it to be.
There is a new trim level for 2021, too. The new SE (that’s “special edition”—we know, original) slots between the EX-L and the Touring trims. It blends luxurious features from the EX-L (leather seats, second-row sunshades, a power driver’s seat with two-position memory, a foot-activated hands-free tailgate and a wireless phone charger) with blacked-out 20-inch wheels, roof rails, grille, and skid plate garnishes. You’ll pay at least $40,080 for an SE.
Other updates throughout the 2021 Pilot range include newly standard dual-zone automatic climate control on the LX, and a Platinum White Pearl paint option for the Black Edition, which also continues to offer black and red design accents and perforated leather seating.
We have the rest of 2020 and 2021 to tell if these small changes keep the Pilot fresh in an extremely competitive segment filled with increasingly new or redesigned competitors. You can now configure the 2021 Honda Pilot on the automaker’s consumer website.
2021 Honda Pilot Prices

Honda Passport - Touring: It’s back and better than ever
Words and Photos By Michael Hozjan
Honda’s new two row Passport fills a void that Honda hasn’t addressed in some time. Slotted between the CRV and the three row, eight passenger Pilot, the Passport is poised to do battle in a competitive, albeit lucrative niche market. Unlike most of its competitors in the class however, Honda claims that this mid-size suv is ready to take on off-road adventures - and not of the soft core type either.
Tumblr media
Early renditions of the Passport dating back to the turn of the century were little more than rebadged Isuzu Rodeos. For 2020 Honda has stepped up and made the Passport their own.
“The all-new Passport provides on-road comfort and nimble handling with robust off-road and all-weather capability that make it a great weekend adventure vehicle,” said Jean Marc Leclerc, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada Inc. “We saw an opportunity to deliver something … to capture buyers looking for a more personal, powerful and capable Honda SUV.”
Tumblr media
The Passport comes in three flavors; Sport, EX-L and Touring with all three trims motivated by the same drive train pillaged from the upper trim version of the company’s Pilot  – a 280 horsepower (262 lb.-ft.), 3.5-liter V-6 and nine-speed automatic transmission mated to a variable torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system with four-mode Intelligent Variable Traction Management. The V-6 features variable cylinder management and runs on regular grade gas. Towing capacity is 1588 kilos with an upgrade available to maximize it at 2268 kg. with the optional towing package.
Tumblr media
Black grilles, bumper/skid garnishes and wheel arches teamed with 20-inch alloys add a certain amount of machismo to the Passport. While inside paddle shifters give it a sporty flare.
The Sport starts at $44,420. The EX-L package at $48,020 adds leather seating, power lift gate, memory features to the power driver’s seat and mirrors body colored parking sensors and an acoustic windshield. My Touring trimmed tester got an upgrade in sound with a 550-watt, 10-speaker and subwoofer system, heated/ventilated seats, nav, wireless charging, hands-free tailgate and blind spot and cross traffic alerts.
Tumblr media
The greenhouse is typical Honda, attractive enough with well-organized controls, but what does Honda have against knobs? Depending on trim/model navigating Honda’s touchscreens, while they have gotten better, can go from mildly tolerable to hair-pulling insanity. So buyer beware and test the system thoroughly before plunking down your hard earned cash. On the upside, the front seats are wide and comfortable, with an adjustable armrest for optimal comfort. The back seat is also roomy with seating for five. There's 41 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seat, and folding the back row flat expands cargo room to 78 cubic feet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the cubby holes under the cargo bay floor, but can’t imagine having a tire blowout and mounting the tiny donut sized spare to get out of the rough or going anywhere with the truck fully loaded with gear. Give me a full sized spare!
Ground clearance is an off-road ready 205 mm or 8.1 inches, but the Passport feels top-heavy and entering highway off ramps can be hairy of you’re not prepared for it. The Passport is quick, with the V6 is pulling the 2400 kg Passport with ease up to highway speeds and away from stoplights. The ride is comfortable and the steering is Honda direct, which translate to a nimble, agile feel.
Tumblr media
Will the Passport knock Jeep’s Grand Cherokee off the mountaintop? I don’t see it but if you’re looking for a fair sized, off road capable crossover with plenty of room for passengers and cargo alike you’ll be more than satisfied with Honda’s latest Passport.
Price as tested: $51,420 *
* Includes freight and PDI fees

2020 Honda Passport Price, Changes, Specs, and Release date. Honda is expanding its SUV lineup and the newest addition is the 2020 Honda Passport This is an all-new crossover, which will hit the market soon, probably already in the next month. If this name sounds familiar to you, that’s because the Japanese manufacturer already used it in the ’90s. At that time, it was a classic body-on-frame SUV, which lots of off-road capabilities. Things are different these days in the automotive industry, so there is not much space for such vehicles.
The new Passport will be a modern unibody crossover, mounted on a unibody platform. As you may presume, it will have a lot in common with the Pilot, though it will be a little bit smaller and probably more athletic. As we already mentioned, the new model should hit the market pretty soon.
credit: motor1.com
2020 Honda Passport Engine
Once again, plenty of similarities with the pilot. The 2020 Honda Passport will feature the same 3.5-liter V6 engine, which delivers around 280 horsepower. In the Pilot, this engine can be paired with either 6-speed automatic, which is standard, or with 9-speed automatic transmission. In both cases, FWD is standard, while AWD is also available. Compared to the Pilot, we expect slightly better fuel economy, which in this crossover goes around 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, which are typical ratings for the class.
2020 Honda Passport Redesign
Unlike the original Passport which was a classic SUV, the new one will be a modern crossover. At this point, we know most of the details about the new model. It is certain that the 2020 Honda Passport will take the place between a compact CR-V and a mid-size Pilot. Still, it will be much closer to the Pilot. It will also be a mid-size crossover. As you probably know, three rows of seating became pretty much a standard for this segment. Many carmakers still offer crossovers with just two rows. These models are usually more athletic and designed to provide a better driving experience. Two rows of seats are just enough for most of us.
Honda will have its represented in this sub-segment. Compared to the Pilot, it will be smaller. It will keep the same wheelbase, which means a lot of benefits. Despite the Pilot is already one of the class-leaders when it comes to interior space, the new 2020 Honda Passport will offer even more legroom, considering that only two rows will be mounted on the same wheelbase. Count on shorter overhangs, as well as on higher ground clearance. In practice, this means more off-road potentials, which would definitely make this crossover more exciting to drive.
2020 Honda Passport Styling
In terms of the styling, there is no doubt that the new 2020 Honda Passport will be fitted to the company’s newest design language. We expect to see a front end that is quite similar to the Pilot. Of course, count on a couple of distinctive details. At this point, we knew that the new crossover will feature a slightly different grille, probably blacked. A couple of unique details are expected on other parts of the crossover. Still, the 2020 Honda Passport won’t get so-called coupe-crossover body style, which has become hugely popular in the past several years. This crossover will stick closely to a wagon-like design, so we can be sure that the new model won’t be just good-looking, but also very practical.
2020 Honda Passport Interior
On the inside, we expect a lot on influence from the Pilot. This particularly refers to the dashboard, which should feature pretty much the same design, with minimal differences. On the other side, the overall layout will be slightly different. As we already mentioned, the new model will feature the same wheelbase as the Pilot. On the other side, it will come with two rows of seating, which indicates even more legroom. We could on a generous cargo area.
Lots of practicality, the new models will be well-equipped too. We count on the same trim level organization as in the Pilot, which is available in four familiar versions– Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Elite.
2020 Honda Passport Release Date and Price
The 2020 Honda Passport will hit the market pretty soon. Latest reports suggest this will happen in about a month. When it comes to the price, we still don’t have exact figures. Still, if we consider that base Pilot versions go around 31.500 dollars, we can presume that this one will probably feature a starting price of around 30.000 dollars. Despite there aren’t many two-row mid-size crossovers anymore, there is still a fine number of potential rivals. Some of the models with similar characteristics are crossovers like Ford Edge, Nissan Murano, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport etc.

2020 Honda Pilot Interior, Exterior, Release Date, Price
New Post has been published on https://www.2020hondarumors.com/2020-honda-pilot-interior-exterior-release-date-price/
2020 Honda Pilot Interior, Exterior, Release Date, Price
2020 Honda Pilot Interior, Exterior, Release Date, Price – The 3rd generation of the Initial is introduced back in 2015. Thus it is no older car. Nonetheless, it seems like a significant update will probably be launched with the future 2020 Honda Pilot revision. This is anticipated to bring not merely a revised powertrain but additionally a new body design also. With the car ought to be capable of being more very competitive — however, many people to claim that it may also cannibalise the sales of its smaller sized sibling.
2020 Honda Pilot Exterior
Considering that the new version of the CR-V will remain mostly unaffected, the company decided up-to-date and made some changes on the latest version of Honda Pilot. On the first look, it may be noticed that the entrance fascia is up to date rendering it seems comparable as Odyssey and Clarity. Based on the pictures it can also be realised that grill is going to be up-to-date showcasing sound sterling silver portion in the middle. The Headlights have also been altered and are now available in Guided form. Honda also previewed a black-edition of the Pilot back in 2015. To date, this model has not been on the market but it just may well with the future 2020 Honda Pilot revision. Count on it to offer blacked out exterior features, more great rims as well as new headlights and tail lighting.
2020 Honda Pilot Exterior
2020 Honda Pilot Interior
The 2020 Honda Pilot’s interior changed a great deal, so we can see several updates, mostly loaned from 2018 Odyssey minivan. Cabin Control application permits you to use your cell phone for the infotainment system consisting of both Android Auto and The apple company Carplay. You can now select a huge rear amusement system with streaming video ability, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and Honda’s CabinTalk PA system. The automaker’s package of active and indirect basic safety techniques, Honda Sensing, is a plus for clients who treatment very much for protection, plus it involves auto-brake, adaptive luxury cruise management, forwards crash warning and the lane-keep assist, that will be regarded as a piece of standard equipment on every single Honda by 2022.
2020 Honda Pilot Interior
2020 Honda Pilot Engine
The news is that Touring and Elite trims also get an updated version of the 9-speed automatic transmission, although decrease toned ranges continue the 6-speed automatic. The 2020 Honda Pilot will likely still come with the same 3.5 litres normally aspirated V6 as before. This engine is at the moment equipped of supplying up to 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque which is more than ample for the purpose it is. The two-row edition of the car, on the other hand, will probably come with a cheaper engine in the base toned level.
2020 Honda Pilot Engine
Some rumours advised the vehicle would get a new 2.0-litre turbo-four providing around 240 hp and 250 lb-feet of torque. This may be more than sufficient for the less heavy car, and it might be a significant effect between gasoline performance and performance. Speaking about the rumours, there is also the likelihood for first time Initial to be presented with hybrid or plug-in choice, credit its two-motor powertrain from the Accord Hybrid., but for far more information we will need to have to hold out.
2020 Honda Pilot Release Date And Price
Taking into consideration that prior model costs $30,595 and CR-V coasts $24,045, we could imagine that impending Aviator is going to be priced somewhere within those two. New 2020 Honda Pilot is going to be introduced on July sixteenth once we are going to get more information concerning the car.

Crossovers and SUVs of the 2018 L.A. Auto Show
To no one’s surprise, automakers revealed a large number of SUVs and crossovers at the 2018 L.A. auto show. But unlike previous years, about half of the vehicles on this list offer some form of electrification, if they’re not exclusively electric. Some automakers revived old SUV nameplates while others introduced all-new, full-size models.
Keep reading to learn about the show’s wide assortment of crossovers and SUVs, from high-tech and luxurious rides to future concepts and affordable models.
2021 Rivian R1S
Rivian’s R1S all-electric SUV was developed to compete not only with the Tesla Model X and Jaguar I-Pace, but also with capable and luxurious vehicles like the Range Rover. The SUV’s electric powertrain consists of four electric motors and four single-speed transmissions (one for each wheel). The battery pack comes in three sizes, with the largest MegaPack rated at 180 kilowatt-hours and boasting a claimed driving range of more than 410 miles. The two smaller packs are 135- and 105-kW-hr units, with estimated ranges of 310-plus and 240-plus miles, respectively. Tesla’s current largest battery pack is rated at 100 kW-hr.
Power outputs are impressive. Choosing the largest battery nets 700 hp, while the mid-level pack, which focuses more on performance, gets you 754 hp. Going with the smallest battery isn’t much of a penalty, either, as power is rated at a still-generous 402 hp. With that kind of power on tap, you can expect acceleration to be brisk. The MegaPack model is estimated to hit 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds, while the mid-level battery is said to do it in 3.0 seconds flat. A still-quick 5.0 seconds is predicted for the smallest battery. Capability is also notable, as Rivian claims to offer higher maximum ground clearance, deeper fording depth, and better approach, departure, and breakover angles than the Range Rover.
2020 Lincoln Aviator
The Aviator is back, and just like its larger Navigator sibling, it packs lots of power, luxury, and tech. But unlike its big brother, the three-row Aviator will be offered with a traditional gasoline engine and an optional plug-in hybrid powertrain that produces 450 hp and a massive 600 lb-ft of torque in the Grand Touring model. The non-hybrid engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 that pumps out a potent 400 hp and 400 lb-ft. New technology includes the Phone As A Key feature that allows owners to lock or unlock the doors, open the liftgate, or start the vehicle using a compatible smartphone. The feature doesn’t require the driver to have a traditional key fob on them. The Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 suite of driver-assist features is standard, and audiophiles should enjoy the optional 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D audio system. The uber-luxurious Black Label trim comes in Flight, Chalet, and Destination interior color and accent themes.
Byton M-Byte Concept
Byton is a Chinese startup company that showed two all-electric concepts in L.A., the K-Byte sedan and the M-Byte SUV. The SUV will be offered in a single-motor, rear-drive model with a 71-kW-hr battery pack and a claimed driving range of 248 miles. The all-wheel-drive model uses dual motors and boasts a 323-mile driving range when equipped with the optional 95-kW-hr battery pack, according to Byton. However, the big news is the lounge-like interior that features a massive 49-inch widescreen, a tablet-sized touchscreen in the center of the steering wheel, and two screens for the rear passengers. Face recognition cameras, Level 3 autonomous capability, an Amazon Alexa voice control system, and 5G data speeds are just some of the high-tech features the M-Byte will offer. Byton claims the midsize SUV will start at about $45,000 and should go on sale in the U.S. by 2020.
2019 Honda Passport
A nameplate popular in the ’90s returns for 2019. Filling the space between the two-row CR-V and the three-row Pilot, the Passport is a two-row, five-passenger crossover based on Honda’s Global Light Truck platform shared with the Pilot and Ridgeline truck—unlike the CR-V’s compact platform shared with sedans. The Passport utilizes the same 280-hp, 262-lb-ft 3.5-liter V-6 engine found in the Pilot and comes in from PerformanceJunk WP Feed 3 https://ift.tt/2zwdQ5S via IFTTT

Top Non-Harley Baggers For 2020
New Post has been published on https://coolcarsnews.com/top-non-harley-baggers-for-2020/
Top Non-Harley Baggers For 2020
Tumblr media

2020 Subaru Ascent vs. 2020 Honda Pilot: Comparing Two Family SUV Favorites
If you’re in the market for a large, three-row SUV for your family, you’re spoiled for choice. Ignoring luxury options from the likes of Tesla or Volvo, mainstream automakers alone offer up more than a dozen different options to choose from, ranging from the Buick Enclave to the Volkswagen Atlas. To alleviate your analysis paralysis, we gathered up two of our favorite three-row SUVs, the 2020 Honda Pilot Black Edition AWD and the 2020 Subaru Ascent Touring, to help you decide which is the better buy for you and your family’s needs.
Subaru Ascent vs. Honda Pilot: How Do They Compare on Paper?
Both the Honda Pilot and Subaru Ascent fill similar needs, offering three rows, seven seats, and all-wheel drive, even if the approach to design and engineering are wildly different. The Honda, the older of the two vehicles (it debuted back in 2016), is the more traditional option. Built on a bespoke SUV chassis in Alabama (the Pilot also shares its architecture with the two-row version of the Pilot, the Passport, and the pickup version, the Ridgeline), the Pilot is powered by a standard 3.5-liter V-6, which produces 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque.
Front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic are standard, but our fully loaded $50,740 Pilot Black Edition gets torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Whereas the Pilot is built from the ground up on its own platform, the Indiana-built Ascent instead rides on Subaru’s modular Global Platform, which underpins everything from the Subaru Crosstrek to the Ascent. New for 2019, the Ascent gets a standard 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-four, which produces 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a CVT and all-wheel drive. Both the CVT and all-wheel drive are standard across the line on the Subaru, from the base model all the way up to our fully loaded $47,017 Ascent Touring tester.
The Ascent is the more efficient of the two crossovers; it’s EPA-rated at 20/26/22 mpg city/highway/combined. The Pilot is rated at 19/26/22 mpg.
Which Is More Fun to Drive?
Although many three-row SUVs drive about as well as a pool noodle, both the Pilot and Ascent are segment standouts in that regard. The Pilot, despite nearing the end of its current model-cycle, is among the quickest vehicles in the segment. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, from 45 to 65 mph in 3.3 seconds, and through the quarter-mile in 14.7 seconds at 93.9 mph.
Despite being a bit long in the tooth, the Pilot can still be quite enjoyable to drive. “Road isolation and ride quality are quite good. I also like the fluid steering very much,” said road test editor Chris Walton. The Pilot’s standard V-6 has a broad powerband, and if you stay deep in the throttle long enough, you’re rewarded by a boost of power near redline as Honda’s VTEC system kicks in (yo).  But—and there’s always a but—it isn’t all roses for the Honda. The Pilot’s nine-speed automatic, which is standard on the range-topping Pilot Touring, Elite, and Black Edition models, is still far from the smoothest transmission on the market. It’s prone to slurred upshifts and rough downshifts, subtracting from the otherwise enjoyable experience.
The Subaru Ascent, like the Pilot, is among the rare three-row crossover SUVs to not drive like a box of sadness. The Ascent’s turbocharged four-cylinder deserves much of the credit. This torquey engine has, as my mom would say, “great get up and go.” Although throttle response can, on occasion, be overly aggressive, the Ascent’s engine has great low-end torque and very little turbo lag. It also exhibits good steering manners and body control, making it comfortable for passengers to ride in and confidence-inspiring for the driver. “It was the SUV I didn’t want to stop driving,” said associate online editor Nick Yekikian.
Which Has the Better Interior?
Where the Honda and Subaru really differentiate themselves is inside. You might think there are only so many ways to outfit what’s essentially a box on wheels, but both automakers have wildly different takes on how they outfit their respective cabins. Honda has a reputation for exceptional packaging—meaning it’s Ikea-good at making the most out of a given space—and the Pilot is no different. Up front, both occupants share a massive center storage bin and plenty of cupholders and cubbies for all your belongings. The Pilot’s second row is thoughtfully done, too, with six cupholders for the second row alone, not to mention the two USB outlets and its own center console. This one, though, is mounted between the captain’s chairs, making access to the third row via the aisle more difficult than it needs to be (the seats otherwise easily tip and slide forward with the press of a button).
Although the Pilot’s packaging is top notch, its weak point (relative to the Ascent) is mostly in its design. The Pilot’s cabin is unimaginative and somewhat crude, with black on black accents, rubberized plastics, and piano black trim. The Pilot’s infotainment system, which was updated for 2019, is functional but could still use some refinement. The addition of a volume knob is a welcome change, but radio tuning still requires using the touchscreen. It also takes one too many touches to switch audio sources, and the graphics look dated compared to other systems on the market. Additionally, some staffers found the Pilot’s seats to be a bit hard and uncomfortable.
Whereas stepping into the Pilot can be a bit like falling into a black hole, getting into the Ascent feels like slipping into a wood paneled library. Its cabin has a pleasing, earthy appeal to it, with three different colors of leather and wood trim. “Subaru did a nice job mixing in different tones of beige, brown, and black to give the interior a more premium look,” said MotorTrend en Español managing editor Miguel Cortina.
More than just a design study, the Ascent’s cabin is also supremely functional. Up front, the Ascent has clear, easy-to-read displays, and a good amount of storage cubbies built into the dash. Meanwhile, in the second row you’ll find four cupholders and heated seats. Third-row occupants will enjoy easy access to their seats via aisle-mounted handles and a wide door opening, plus USB outlets, and HVAC vents of their own.
Final Thoughts: Should You Get an Ascent or Pilot?
The choice between the Honda Pilot and Subaru Ascent wasn’t an easy one. Both are roomy, comfortable, and surprisingly great to drive. With the Ascent and Pilot scoring so evenly in subjective metrics, it’s the objective stuff that help serve as our tiebreaker. Ultimately, the Ascent is more affordable, more modern, and ever-so-slightly more enjoyable to drive. The Pilot put up a helluva fight, but the Subaru Ascent is the better three-row family SUV.
