And now, to agonzing. My sister was like "Hey, but don't they change licence plates when a car is sold?" and I, graceful adult that I am, of course didn't have the slightest clue. Instead of bothering with rl I went back to check what licence plate Lucy's car had before/when Tamara stole it (3x02) which was still the same one

Nata Talikishvili, a transgender activist in Georgia, was attacked in Tbilisi on October 20, just a month after the killing of another transgender woman, Kesaria Abramidze, reflecting the worsening climate for LGBT rights in the South Caucasus country.

The Interior Ministry told RFE/RL a suspect was arrested for allegedly insulting Talikishvili and hitting her with a brick, leaving her with a concussion.

The attacks of Abramidze and Talikishvili, a recipient of the Kato Mikeladze Prize in 2018 for her work defending women's rights, came after Georgian lawmakers approved legislation restricting LGBT rights.

The new laws allow for the prohibition of cultural events, including Pride marches, effectively limiting public expression for the LGBT community.

Human rights advocates have criticized the measures as fostering an environment of intolerance and emboldening violent attacks.

A 26-year-old suspect has since been detained in the Abramidze killing, with investigators blaming gender-based violence.

Abramidze represented Georgia at the Miss Trans Star International beauty pageant in Barcelona in 2018 and regularly appeared in media and television.

The attacks underscore the LGBT community's long-standing struggle in Georgia, where conservative social attitudes and political rhetoric have often marginalized sexual and gender minorities. Despite the growing visibility of LGBT activists and events, backlash has been common.

Violent disruptions of Pride marches and homophobic rhetoric from conservative groups and some politicians have cultivated an increasingly hostile environment for LGBT Georgians.

Human rights organizations are calling for stronger protections and a crackdown on hate crimes. Amid the restrictive new laws, many fear a continuing escalation of violence against LGBT individuals in Georgia.

"Second, we say a mirror withdrawal of troops because we want peace, but they don't want [it]. We say to them to withdraw from the frontline, and let the border demarcation and delimitation work be done; they do not agree. They are in our territories and do not want to go out. We already understood that they do not want to go to peace. No matter what condition we set, they will not agree because they intend to attack our country," stated the Armenian ruling force MP.

And because of this, according to Melkonyan, Armenia should restore the military balance, and "find new friends, new allies to be able to ensure our security."

Aldous/Jakob used to be such a popular ship and I miss that. Its SUCH A GOOD SHIIIP

I think the whole "actually Jakob and Aldous are bald old men" really turned a lot of people off which sucks. A lot of people in this fanbase de-age the characters and make them younger but the fact that RL is mostly old people is one reason I really like it IM AN OLD PEOPLE ENJOYER

But yeah... I wish Aldous/Jakob was still popular 😭😭 so much old good art of them existed

In Second Life, Drama was a resident who caused quite a bit of drama, especially in the roleplaying areas. There is questions on when she first came into SL, since she has claimed to be there since 2003, when it first started, however, she has changed that story, claiming it was not until 2010 that she joined and that she was misunderstood.

I don't believe anyone misunderstood what she was writing and what she meant, at least not from this excerpt.

In SL, Drama caused all types of issues. I spoke to someone we will name Sgáil, who dealt with Drama in the roleplaying areas of SL. I did debate on how to tell Sgáil's story and went with the option of quoting her, since she tells her own story the best. However, I did alter or block out the names of the individuals involved, along with the sim names, since the sims are not responsible for what happened.

"For me, she started her shit in like 2017. She was in the Got Roleplay Group and they had her as a Mod. She went all psycho-looney over Sim Owners allowing Furries. She was for them not against them, especially in Medieval Fantasy. Essentially demanding ALL sim owners allow furries in their sims. Which a lot of owners told her to go fuck herself. They footed the bill not her. Well K (name altered) decided to put his 2 cents in and she had a bug up her ass since. Especially in regards to me. At the time I was an Admin over at ( redacted), and discovered that shortly after my group had gone over there, she had made some weird attempt at a story line that the standing Admins(prior to me) had declined to do, sending her off on a tizzy fit resulting in her leaving and trying to bring down ( redacted). I wouldn't find out about this till long after the fact. It would calm down till about 2018, outside her rants in roleplay recruitment groups, when she started her shit again when the (group name redacted) went to (name redacted). That is when she tried to join the ( name redacted) and we declined her joining. As we have all seen, telling her no only sets a fire under her ass to force you to what she wants. She attacked me, attacked my group, and tried to get us banned everywhere we went. By that point we were just done and I sent out a mass group message to block her that she was causing us nothing but problems. Late 2018 when things were already mentally bad for me and shit was just going wrong, she decided while K (name altered) and I were into (redacted) to attack us again. Going to the Admin Team with bullshit stories, which ranged from God Modding, Power Gaming, Doctoring Screen shots, you name it. We were cleared of the bullshit by the Admin team but by then I was sick of her shit and put her up on Virtual Secrets. She had an obsession with K that stemmed back from when he was in ( name redacted) and he was 12 years old. Yes, he was underage on the adult grid. Having used his brother C's credit card and license to gain access and circumvent the blocks for someone his age. And sadly because he matured early, he sounded like an adult man at 12. Which in retrospect is probably one of the reasons she clung to his ass so hard. Anyways, after that was when you all came in during 2019/2020. We weren't the only ones she had issues with or obsessions with. As you saw from J and others, she would cling to people and when they rejected her, would try and get them banned. Before you all dived into this mess, I found out I was but one of many she would obsess over and get jealous over. And her claims of not obsessing over married men are false. There was a guy, a real POS who liked to gaslight women, by the name of A. He was vocally married to a roleplayer in RL by the name of B. She got hooked up with him in ( name redacted) and pretty much what she has done on the Kiwi Farms sight she did virtually. Like full on strip her misshapen avatar down in front of A and whoever could stand her and demand they pay attention to her. We heard about it second hand, but that info spread like herpes through the sim. She also went after R. And when he told her flat out No she flipped. Trying to go as far as to say he came on to her, he made the first move, she was just roleplaying. It was bullshit."

Idk what happened, but tumblr notified me about a tag and when I saw it, I couldn't believe my eyes!

For a moment, I got super excited, since it was a tag from a friend of mine from the early years of this blog and Arino in general. However, when I entered the tag...

It said it was from 2018! Idk what happened, but it got my hopes up 🥲. My dear friend Stephy left the fandom one day a long time ago and (I think) hasn't come back ever since. I have to admit that whenever I remember someone or something from the past I get very nostalgic 😔. One day, someone you care for is here and the next one is gone. Is something I sort of struggle with: I know that nothing is forever, that people tend to come and go for one thing or another and is normal to keep moving forward. Still, I never forget and therefore I never cease missing people.

Stephy, wherever you are and whatever the reason you left/move forward, I just wish you're doing ok and I truly wish you the best. I wish I could have said goodbye and I truly treasure the good memories and time we spent together talking about our OCs and ships, talking till late on discord, the tips you gave me as a fellow author and even the little gifts you gave me [I still treasure your gift you gave me on my b-day and I even have it on display in my masterlist next with other gifts and works of my own]. Thank you for overall your friendship 🫶🏻🥹💕

Not gonna lie, but sometimes it feels lonely when your friends (may be online or in rl) leave and sometimes you didn't notice when they did. My dear group of friends here on tumblr in the "old good days" have left DL the fandom in general some time ago and I'm still here [I still talk to most of them, which I'm truly thankful 🫶🏻]. I kept moving forward, I'm still enjoying being here and keeping alive Arino and even added the rest of the crew in the way. Still, I get nostalgic and "homesick" from the past and the people that used to be here.

Trick or treat? (For the ficwip game!)

We know from Yuri on Ice ep 12 that Stéphane Lambiel won silver at the Torino Olympics. Year not stated onscreen; in RL this was 2006. RL Lambiel also came in fourth in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

One of Victor's gold medals seen in ep 10 looks suspiciously like the ones handed out in 2006 in Torino.

We know from the Ice Adolescence preview trailer that ten years before the show, Victor participated in the Olympics in Paris.

Conclusion: Stéphane Lambiel won silver in Torino in 2010. Victor may have won gold in both 2006 and Torino, we're unlikely to know until we actually get Ice Adolescence, but he definitely won gold in at least one of the two.

(Evgeni Plushenko and Daisuke Takahashi, who took two of the 2010 medals in RL, probably don't exist in YOI; if Evan Lysacek does, then probably something about competing against Victor knocked him down to bronze or below. Christophe Giacometti may or may not have medaled at the 2010 or 2014 Olympics, but probably not both; the fact Victor remarked on sharing multiple Grand Prix Final, Europeans, and Worlds podiums with Chris tells me they have never shared multiple Olympics podiums and may never have shared the Olympics podium at all.)

And since 2006 Paris Olympics is far from the only example of YOI setting an event somewhere other than where the RL event that year was: in order to avoid having two significant-to-Yuuri competitions in Sochi, I can move the 2014 Olympics to wherever I like! Since one of the losing bids for the RL 2014 Olympics was Jaca, Spain, which lost partly because Spain was going to host only the mountain events in Jaca, with the ice events and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies in Zaragoza—the problem being that the bidding city has to host both those ceremonies—I have therefore switched Spain's 2014 bid from Jaca to Zaragoza.

(I'm on team "Yuuri came in like eighth in the 2014 Olympics". He therefore wanted to burn his Olympic team jacket out of shame, but Minako stole it before he could. It's stored either with the rest of his old costumes or with hers, possibly both on account of Minako stores the lot at her studio.)

(2018 and 2022 Olympics in YOIverse are definitely in Pyeongchang and Beijing, same as RL, though. We have official art showing Beijing, and though RL 2017 Four Continents was in the same venue as RL Pyeongchang Olympics figure skating and therefore could plausibly be what Seung-gil's coach was talking about, that venue is in Gangneung and the Olympics are by far the more important competition.)

Last month, drone footage of a soldier shooting one of his fellow servicemen in the head was shared widely by Russian state-funded and pro-Kremlin media, with Russian propagandists claiming the soldiers were Ukrainian. But a new investigation from RFE/RL’s Russian investigative unit Systema and the news outlet Current Time, which relies on a higher-resolution version of the video and interviews with the drone operators involved, indicates that the men in the clip are actually Russian soldiers. Meduza breaks down the evidence.

The RFE/RL projects Systema and Current Time have released a new investigation into the death of a soldier who was shot by one of his fellow servicemen in the village of Robotyne in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region. Low-resolution drone footage of the shooting was widely disseminated by Russian pro-war Telegram channels as well as on the state-controlled TV network Rossiya-24, where Russian propagandists claimed the soldiers were Ukrainian and that the video shows their “animalistic nature” and “fascist ideology.”

Current Time and Systema obtained the original, higher-resolution footage from Ukraine’s 118th Mechanized Brigade, which launched the drone that took the video. The journalists identified several signs that the soldiers shown in the clip were Russian and not Ukrainian.

The video shows three soldiers in camouflage clothing with no identifying marks running down a road. A drone explodes next to one of them, causing him to fall to the ground, apparently wounded. One of the other servicemen then walks up to the wounded soldier, who points to his own head. The standing soldier then shoots the wounded serviceman in the head. The soldier who is wounded and then killed in the video does not appear to have any weapons at any point.

In the original, high-resolution version of the video, journalists spotted the following details, which are indiscernible in the low-resolution version:

The killed soldier is wearing underwear from the Chinese brand BOKAI, which is very common in Russia. This underwear used to be sold in Ukraine, but has become nearly impossible to find in the last two years.

The pants worn by the soldiers in the video resemble ones from the clothing line A-Tacs FG, which is worn by Russian servicemen. However, pants of the same color pattern can also be purchased in Ukrainian stores.

The rifle used in the video is an AK-12, which Russia’s Kalashnikov Concern arms manufacturer began producing in 2018. Other videos from pro-Kremlin outlets have shown Russian soldiers using AK-12s in Robotyne, where this video was taken. However, Ukrainian troops are also known to have captured some of these rifles from Russian forces.

Journalists from Current Time also obtained footage recorded by the Ukrainian drone that struck the soldier in the video. The video shows the moment of the strike. “The existence of the second video is a clear indication that the entire scenario was not staged,” they write in their analysis. (Some Russian pro-war bloggers previously alleged that the original video was a “Ukrainian fake.”)

The journalists spoke to two drone operators from the 118th Brigade who witnessed the shooting, including the one who filmed the widely-shared video. He said that he initially saw four men in a trench, one of whom appeared to be dead. When the drone approached them, the other three men jumped up and ran. The drone then struck the man in the center.

The drone operator recounted:

It was clear that he wasn’t going to get back up, that his legs were broken, and that there was no way an evacuation team would reach him. His comrade was running next to him, and he gestured with his hand: “Please kill me.” I was a bit shocked. I mean, that’s your brother in arms. And you kill him, just like that. You could have at least pulled him over into the bushes.

The journalists also spoke to the operator of the drone that injured the man. According to him, the two soldiers who survived the initial strike ran and hid in bushes, but Ukrainian forces soon hit them with another drone. He said that none of the three men shown in the video survived, though Systema and Current Time were unable to independently confirm this.
