Timing was everything. And when it came to him and Oswald, they never seemed to get it quite right. Ed remembered being utterly fascinated by the other, from the moment they met and the more they got to know each other, that admiration only grew. Only Ed had somehow missed the moment that this admiration had turned to something more, something that Oswald had been aware of. Something that was lost and irretrievable now. Love wasn’t something that remained when so much pain and wrongdoing what taken place, it was as simple as that.

Part of him thought it was better to just stay silent, that they were better off this way, better off pretending that they were just friends, that there was never anything else between them.
