2005 Darcy is someone who was orphaned too young and suddenly became responsible for a giant estate and thousands of livelihoods, only to then be immediately betrayed by his childhood friend attempting to elope with his baby sister (who he is now also completely responsible for - if he screws up even a little bit, her entire future is forfeit, and Wickham almost did that before she was even 'out' in society), AND THEN dragged cross country (still grieving, still lost, still utterly overwhelmed) to some 'quaint' little town party because his bestie has zero impulse control and needs constant supervision, AND THEN to his absolute horror falls madly in love with a feral weirdo who's family can charitably be described as 'completely off their rockers'.

(also the reunion with Georgiana is adorable and their dynamic was really sweet even if she was only on screen for a couple minutes)
