Top 5 survival-horror videogames in 2023
Hello everyone today I will talk about one of the best survival-horror games in 2023.
5. Alan Wake
it is an action and adventure game that captivates us from the first minute. Alain Wake is a writer who decides to go to the town of Bright Falls to look for his wife, it turns out that she has disappeared under strange circumstances. Once he reaches his destination, he quickly realizes that he will have to unravel a mystery. A dark presence is lurking and doesn't know who or what it is. Alan Wake's terror is more subtle and narrative, where the head plays tricks on the protagonist. The player will not be able to tell what is true and what is not, while the writer overcomes a mental block that has him in a major crisis. The game has one of the best tense and suspenseful atmospheres ever seen.
4. Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle
Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is a third-person survival horror focused on a story that takes place several years before Daymare: 1998, also a video game in the genre. In the development of Invader Studios, players get into the shoes of special agent Dalila Reyes, a former government spy now in the service of a unit called H.A.D.E.S. (Advanced Exploration and Subtraction Six-Team), as he plunges into the darkness of the desolate, labyrinthine depths of a military research complex and faces terrible and deadly dangers.
3. The Medium
It is a third-person psychological horror action game developed by Bloober Team, creators of Layers of Fear. The player controls Marianne, a pregnant medium who has psychic abilities to connect with another spiritual reality, so she can explore the real world and the spiritual world at the same time. The Medium plays with the duality of two worlds: the physical and the spiritual. From there it is normal for the protagonist to relive memories to find the answer to many questions. Taking advantage of that circumstance, the game becomes quite disturbing in a very puzzling atmosphere. In addition to different puzzles, the protagonist will meet a monster born from an unspeakable tragedy.
2. Resident Evil Remake
The game takes place in Raccoon City, where a deadly virus has infected the population, turning them into zombies. The player takes control of Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie police officer, or Claire Redfield, a college student, as they try to survive and escape the city. One of the most impressive aspects of Resident Evil 2 Remake is its graphics. The game features highly detailed graphics and environments, which helps to create a spooky and immersive atmosphere. The sound is also impressive, with a haunting soundtrack and sound effects that keep you on your toes throughout the game. Gameplay-wise, Resident Evil 2 Remake maintains the series' mechanics of combining elements of survival, exploring a terrifying environment, and fighting enemies while seeking to solve puzzles and progress through the story.
Dead Space Remake
Dead Space, the sci-fi survival horror classic, returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper, more immersive experience. This remake features astonishing visual fidelity, suspenseful ambient sound, and gameplay enhancements, without losing any of the bone-chilling vision of the original game. Isaac Clarke is a random engineer tasked with repairing the hulking extractor ship USG Ishimura , but you will discover that something has gone terribly wrong. The ship's crew have been murdered and his beloved companion Nicole is missing somewhere on board. With no one to accompany him and armed only with his tools and engineering skills, Isaac will have to hurry to find Nicole as he unravels the secret. terrifying mystery of what happened aboard the Ishimura. Trapped with hostile creatures, the necromorphs, Isaac faces a battle for survival not only against the horrors of the ship, but to avoid falling into madness.
I hope you find useful and liked the content and see you next time.

Do you have any headcanons for Johnny’s life between the end of tkk and beginning of ck? The show gives us a lot of background for his life before tkk but not so much after that
ANON IM SO SORRY I FORGOT TO REPLY TO THIS!!!
but omg, yes of couuuurse i do.
as a slight warning: canon is my sandcastle, i get to reshape it as i please, this might not be totally accurate to the info given by the show but i! don't! care!
tw: alcoholism, sex work mention, sickness
johnny did graduate high school but it was very precarious. bobby and jimmy pulled through in those last months by making the three other boys study as much as they could, tommy and johnny managed to graduate but dutch dropped out at the last second (and got his GED later, in prison).
johnny enrolled to business school because sid told him this was all he would pay for. he was more interested in a sport related career but sid told him trying for sport coach or exercise physiologist would just be a waste of time.
the cobras had a shitty rock garage band from 1992 to 1994, there are extremely cringe clips robbie would have definitely found and left anonymous hate on. johnny played the bass and sang. (robbie was upset that, yes, it was cringe, but his dad was kinda good)
johnny had messy MESSY relationships for whole of his twenties and the start of his thirties. he had a pretty serious girlfriend after his short time at business school but they broke up because he absolutely did not want her to meet his mom and it started a huge fight.
johnny also DID have relationships with men because i am of the #BiJohnnyAndAwareOfOIt school at least as he got older. he was extremely repressed in high school but had an awakening in his twenties. he and the cobras did fool around when they were younger but only johnny really seems to have stuck with it. (take that as you want)
(meanwhile to ME daniel larusso was aware that he liked men as a teenager but it didn't really become an issue until he was an adult and he is now creating levels of repression totally unreachable by the common man)
okay back to the question: johnny dated/slept with a few guys, mainly it was casual sex because he accepted he wanted to fuck men, he less accepted that he could also fall in love with them. he did have a pretty serious boyfriend who broke up with him to get married to a woman and it made johnny SO FUCKING UPSET (he couldn't really??? express it?? like yeah okay dude, it's chill we basically lived together but yeah go marry her i mean it was just fucking around right?) that he crashed the avanti. when he asked sid for money to fix it, sid said no and took the keys.
johnny had a bunch of jobs going from handyman to server, to basically anything under the sun that could pay his rent once sid threw him out. i do believe jhnny was a type of sex worker for a while although im not sure what and i don't think he stayed long.
johnny and laura were very close but as he got older, he started looking more and more like his father and it upset laura a lot.
he and shannon met in a bar, she was scamming guys out of their money at the pool table, johnny saw her and was like... i need to know her.
they WERE in love, it was genuine and real for a while but very quickly they understood they were too similar and couldn't have an actual relationship without devouring each other. they did continue to have sex for a long time because they trusted each other and stayed friends... until robbie.
when shannon got pregnant there was a moment they didn't know if it was his and johnny was like, even if its not mine i will help and it would have probably been easier for him to step up if it hadn't been his kid. shannon did a test, robbie was his kid and the mess started there.
laura got sick and it was long and agonizing. johnny tried to save face but that's truly when he started drinking (he always had a drink problem but this was the breaking point), shannon had robbie and johnny crumbled.
shannon and johnny tried to get back together for robbie but they did end up doing what they were afraid of doing: destroying each other.
for a while johnny was forcefully admitted to a psych ward by bobby and it worked as rehab for about six weeks but the moment he got out, it got worse.
meeting miguel is what saved johnny's life in many ways, however, meeting daniel larusso back in high school and then seeing him again at the dealership is what gave him the drive to keep trying (absolute spite)

Heavenly Creatures (1994)
If his film BrainDead showed that Peter Jackson is the Kiwi Sam Raimi, Heavenly Creatures demonstrates that he can take that kinetic freneticism in his camera language and channel it into a powerful aspect of the way a story is told. Especially when Juliet Hulme and Pauline Parker are together, the world is topsy-turvy. The camera rockets around in running POV shots or snaps in on facial features, distorting them beyond recognition. Clay figurines spring to life, and the girls are transported to an otherworldly paradise of the Fourth World. Ordinarily, this would not be at all conventional for a crime drama. But when looking at the Parker-Hulme murder case through the eyes of its perpetrators, this is the only way to convey it. The world is a fantasy for Juliet and Pauline, full of operatic highs and lows. Nothing feels better when the two are united, the film leaping joyfully into bravura camera moves to convey just how ecstatic this partnership is (how in the fuck they pulled off that sandcastle shot is beyond me). Even when they aren’t involved in a scene, their version of events colors the depiction: when Juliet’s father Henry visits the Parkers to suggest she needs psychiatric help, snap-zooms and Frankenstein claps of lightning are plentiful, and the suggestion that she may be a L-E-S-B-I-A-N is a full-on comedy reveal. Parental figures, often the object of ire for these two girls who see them as opponents seeking to separate them, pop into frame like monsters in a jump scare. But while darkly comic throughout, Jackson peppers the film with extracts from Pauline’s diary. Often the sentiments or events she describes are quietly juxtaposed with the reality of the matter. Her eventual love for Henry Hulme because she thinks he has her best interests in mind is contrasted by his apparent thinly veiled dislike for her. A diary can be a record of events and an insight into someone’s perception of them, but it isn’t objective reality.
More nuanced too than BrainDead or other early works is Jackson’s delicately layered sense of tone and emotional sensibilities. A woman died at the end of all of these escalating events, after all. That is no laughing matter. Honora Parker is handled completely straight, and through all of her frustration with and love for her daughter, it’s clear that this was a woman put into a very difficult situation. Her genuine, fraught grief at being pushed away by Pauline is wrenching. When the “Happy Day” of the planned murder comes, Jackson begins to toy with the audience, checking in on clocks and watches at any opportunity, creating a sense of dread and anticipation. But unlike most crime thrillers, you genuinely don’t want this to happen. But happen it must, like something written in a book. The fixation with Juliet and Pauline’s fictional kingdom throughout is another arm of tragedy often played more straight, if accompanied by gaudier trappings. This fixation on their fantasy kingdom, calling one another by character names, building out elaborate lore and interlinking it with their lives, quickly moves from playground imagination to something altogether more troubling. Whether this is a coping mechanism or the outcome of repression, it carries darker implications. Pauline’s brief encounter with a disgusting exploitative border at her home is never portrayed as anything other than predatory, rendered all the more tragic as the teenager tries to process that through the lens of her character’s fictional lover. Early in the film, Juliet is seen in a princess dress, suggesting an innocence and play to her. But when she appears in similar attire upon her reunion with Pauline, it’s utterly wrenching, no matter how happy the two may be to see one another again.
