Seemed interesting and I was curious to know how much I'd picked up about it secondhand over the years, so gave it a shot. Not Jewish (but some of my family is), got 27/32.
(I went over the ones I got wrong down in the tags to avoid accidentally giving the answers to people who might want to take the quiz for themselves.)
jumblr folks should collectively make a basic jewish theology quiz that ppl outside the jewish community should have to pass before arguing with us about jewish theology. like what the fuck are these ppl doing arguing with me about the torah when they don't know about the existence of the oral torah.
#the wrong ones were:#8. I knew the answer was 'much lower than I'd like' but wasn't sure of the exact number#so I tried to be optimistic and guessed the second-lowest answer#sadly no#15. I'd heard of the three sections before but only in Hebrew and had no idea what their English names were#so my mind went blank and settled on 'uhhh fuck it pick the only option where all three words aren't English'#even though I knew it was probably wrong#22. I was familiar with the general concept of 'someone who is going to do something very important I don't recall the details of'#and 'arrival predicted but has not yet occurred'#and went with the option using the phrase 'a servant of God'#because I vaguely remembered hearing about a rabbi referring to the Jewish people as bondsmen in God's service#30. I freely admit I had absolutely NO idea here and just picked Guide for the Perplexed because it was funny#31. Knew it wasn't lost or a secret but the idea that it's too dense to read at ALL didn't track for me#because surely no matter HOW dense a text is there must be SOMEONE scholarly and devoted enough to read it eventually?#like I could understand it taking years of study and effort to finish but surely you Would Have Read It eventually if you kept going??#so I figured it must be the 'translation issues' option#chalking this one up to my not understanding what the quiz writer meant here by 'reading'
