AU: After the near-death of his beloved son, Lu Ten, Prince Iroh makes quick work of finishing the Siege of Ba Sing Se with a decisive, blazing victory. The Fire Nation, though stretched thin across the Earth Kingdom quashing rebellions and trying to stop the remaining government and military from regrouping, now sets its sights on conquering the Water Tribes, to achieve Sozin’s vision of complete world domination. Prince Iroh—entrusted by his father, Fire Lord Azulon, with more power and responsibility than ever in the wake of his triumph over Ba Sing Se—decides to try a softer approach.

((If you consider strong-arming a man into marrying his kid off to a (royal, colonizing, ash making, probably murderous, definitely evil) stranger by threatening to melt his whole village a softer approach.
