Doodledex - #646 Kyurem

When the original dragon attempted to split itself in two, it didn’t do it very cleanly at all... a part of it was actually left behind, forming the dragon Kyurem. From there, another legend states that it had crashed near Lacunosa Town, forming the Giant Chasm that it lives in today. (The legend then goes on to state that it would arrive along with a cold wind at night and snatch people and Pokemon away, eventually resulting in the town’s strict curfew... but who knows if it was really to blame?)

Being as hollow and incomplete as it is, Kyurem’s ice is both the result of its energy leaking out of its body and an attempt to keep itself stable. According to certain dex entries, it awaits the day a “hero” will come and return its missing pieces.... which can actually be done! By using a DNA Splicer on it, Kyurem can temporarily absorb Zekrom or Reshiram and become either Black or White Kyurem respectively, granting it their powers! (Unfortunately, there’s no way for it to absorb both of them, so we might never know what their “true form” looked like...)
