??? some messy thoughts from yesterday kinda
man, that Zelda and Philosophy book was such a pleasant read back in the day!! it’s a shame I can’t remember the exact name now but I should have it saved somewhere on my laptop. maybe one day i’ll print it all out and read it before going to bed or smth. a person can dream.... (there wasa chapter dealing w/ game overs in zelda games from an extremely interesting point but i can’t remember anything other than it being interesting. just... check it out pls *ok hand emoji*) (UPD: it’s called The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy: I Link Therefore I Am, if you’re interested!! I def recommend this book, it’s so Good)
I think that one of my best experiences with loz and its community was during the e3 2014 reveal omf. i still remember it so fondly?? and it’s been almost 3 yrs too, what the fuck!?! i’ll never stop talking abt how awesome it was, if ur tired of it, just Deal With It
ONE DAY I’LL FIND A COOL ZELDA MANGA WITH HIGH-QUALITY SCANS AND I’LL JUST. find a local translating group or two in vk and randomly pop in like ‘can we collaborate on this or smth; i’ll do the translation and u’ll do the editing stuff?? pls for the love of hylia make it happen i’ve been dreaming abt this shit for years, it’s practically the only way i can help my smol fandom out‘ plus it’d be an awesome experience overall. ideally, a win-win. i’m......
seriously. helping out w/ editing hyrule historia back in the day (like 3.5 yrs ago??) made me feel so proud. esp since HH was the very first book I’ve read from start to finish in english. i still remember how i was switching between the tablet w/ the pdf open and the big dictionary that my friend gave me as a gift every 15 seconds, lmfao. it was So Worth It though!! ...yeah I just want to relive the experience
also, speaking of manga, why the fuck is History of Hyrule down?!? :cccc I’m so upset.... why couldn’t I have just/// visited it earlier. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to find a better resource for LoZ manga now, tbh.
and don’t even get me started on the corrupted SD card with all of that cool music, I’m still crying because of the loss deep inside! Of course, some of it was recovered last October but... it’s just not the same!! + I can’t really listen to it properly bc not only does my player not have enough space, it’s also got a broken headphone jack and I also broke the USB port on my laptop because I suck. tl;dr there’s basically no way for me to enjoy it properly aaaaaAAAAA
a part of me wishes I could play the song of time to teleport back to 2014 or smth...........
also, can we talk abt that one book called Agramont?? it’s a funny story... not the book itself, obviously, it’s fucking awful. but y’know?? the context of its release feels funny to me. basically, there was that one girl and her name was Valerie. and it’s said that she’s always been dreaming of being a famous writer so one day she sat down and wrote ‘these vivid images’ that appeared in her head. she ‘was so inspired’ that she finished writing the book in abt 1.5 weeks or so and then she told her family smth like ‘look at this story, guys, i wrote it and i feel inspired and proud and blessed, we should try publishing it!!‘ everyone in her family was naturally v proud and stuff, so they searched for a publication that was willing to release Valerie’s writing and they found it. (if you’re wondering what does all of this has to do w/ zelda, you’ll find out soon) it was published under the name ‘Agramont‘ and iirc it received a ton of positive reviews (esp since Valerie was like 14 when she wrote it, so everyone was praising her even more for her talent developing at such a young age), so everything was going super well for her family. that is, until a Gamer(tm) read it and rightfully debunked it.... because it’s LITERALLY THE PLOT OF OCARINA OF TIME RETOLD ALMOST WORD-FOR-WORD (except all of the names were changed, obviously — i.e. Link became Alin and Saria became Salia. ew.) I’ve tried reading it, Goddesses know I did. I don't think I was ever able to reach the 30th page, I just straight up died of disgust on the spot. however, a few months ago I found an old 2010 magazine that had featured Valerie in one of the articles and iirc she said smth like ‘I do not understand the gamers’ outrage, no matter what, it’s still a book I wrote myself. also I’m planning a sequel‘ ...good thing that sequel never saw the light of day then. I bet it’d be abt MM if it did... I’ve heard of something similar happening with a book called The Silent Hero somewhere in America and I’m kiiiinda curious to see how that went down but at the same time??? just no.
