The evening air was cool at Musashi Shrine, the tranquility punctuated by the rustling of leaves and the distant hum of city life. Kazutora sat on the shrine steps, his shoulders slumped, eyes reflecting the turmoil inside him. Y/n watched him quietly, her heart heavy with concern. The gang meeting had ended hours ago, but Kazutora lingered, reluctant to face the chaos of his home life.

Kazutora sighed deeply, his voice tinged with exhaustion. "I just don't want to go home, Y/n. I can't deal with my family right now."

Y/n's eyes softened with empathy as she moved closer, her hand gently touching his arm. "I get it, Kazutora. I know." She paused, a thoughtful look crossing her face as an idea formed. "Why don't you stay with me tonight? My parents are out of the city for the next three days, and I'm all alone."

Kazutora's eyes widened slightly, a mix of surprise and gratitude washing over him. "Are you sure? I don't want to impose."

"Of course, I'm sure!" Y/n grinned, playfully nudging him with her shoulder. "Come on, it'll be fun. We can have a mini sleepover."

Kazutora chuckled, the tension in his shoulders easing a bit. "Alright, if you insist."

The walk to Y/n's house was filled with light banter, the weight of Kazutora's troubles momentarily lifting. As they stepped inside, Y/n's excitement was palpable. She dashed to the kitchen, grabbing an assortment of snacks before leading Kazutora to her room.

"Make yourself comfortable," she said, spreading the snacks out on her bed and turning on the TV. "I've got all the good shows lined up."

Kazutora couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm. "You're really going all out, huh?"

"Absolutely," Y/n replied, plopping down beside him and popping open a bag of chips. "Oh, and I got you some PJs from my dad's closet. They should fit you."

Kazutora took the offered pajamas with a grateful nod. "Thanks, Y/n. You're the best."

Y/n beamed. "I know," she teased, sticking her tongue out playfully. "Now, let's get comfy and enjoy the night."

After changing into the pajamas, Kazutora joined Y/n on the bed, feeling more relaxed than he had in a long time. They watched TV, laughing at the absurdity of the show they had picked. Y/n's lighthearted commentary had Kazutora in stitches, his laughter filling the room.

"I can't believe you find this so funny," Kazutora said between chuckles. "You're ridiculous."

"It's called having a good sense of humor," Y/n retorted

As the night went on, Y/n pulled out her skincare routine, explaining each step with an endearing seriousness. Kazutora listened intently, his heart swelling at her genuine care and attention.

"First, we cleanse," she said, holding up a bottle of face wash. "You gotta get rid of all the dirt and grime from the day."

Kazutora followed her lead, mimicking her movements. "You really know your stuff, huh?"

"Of course! Skincare is important," Y/n replied with a wink. "Next, we tone. This helps to balance your skin's pH."

Kazutora nodded, fascinated by her dedication. "You're really something else, Y/n."

She grinned, a hint of a blush coloring her cheeks. "I just want you to feel good, Kazutora."

By the time they finished, Kazutora felt a strange mix of calm and elation. Turning off the TV, Y/n flopped back onto the bed, a content sigh escaping her lips. Kazutora joined her, and they started gossiping about random things, their laughter filling the room once more.

As they chatted, they involuntarily edged closer, the space between them shrinking. At one point, Kazutora's gaze lingered on Y/n's lips, a thought forming in his mind.

"Y/n," he began hesitantly, his voice soft. "Can I ask you something?"

Y/n turned to him, curiosity shining in her eyes. "What's up?"

Kazutora took a deep breath, his heart pounding. "Can I kiss you?"

A surprised look crossed Y/n's face, followed by a shy smile. "Yeah, you can."

He leaned in slowly, their lips meeting in a gentle, tentative kiss. The simplicity of it made Y/n's heart flutter. What started as a sweet kiss quickly deepened, the intensity growing between them. Kazutora's hand cupped Y/n's cheek, his touch sending shivers down her spine.

As their kisses grew more fervent, they found themselves entangled, bodies pressing closer together. Kazutora's breath hitched as Y/n's hand roamed over his chest, her touch igniting a fire within him.

"Y/n," he murmured against her lips, his voice thick with desire. "You're driving me crazy."

Y/n responded by pressing her body against his, her hands sliding down to his waistband. She began to rub him through his clothes, feeling him grow harder under her touch. Kazutora groaned, his hips bucking involuntarily.

"Fuck, Y/n," he gasped, his voice raw with need. "You feel so good."

Emboldened by his reaction, Y/n slipped her hand into his pants, wrapping her fingers around his throbbing length. She started to stroke him, her movements slow and deliberate, feeling him twitch in her grasp. Kazutora's breaths came in ragged gasps, his eyes fluttering shut. Without a word, Y/n lowered her head, taking him into her mouth. The sensation was overwhelming, and Kazutora's hands tangled in her hair as she worked him with her lips and tongue. The heat of her mouth and the expert movements of her tongue drove him wild. His climax hit him hard, a low, guttural groan escaping his lips as he released into her mouth.

As he came down from his high, Kazutora pulled Y/n up into his arms, kissing her deeply, tasting himself on her lips. "You have no idea what you do to me," he whispered, his voice filled with awe and lingering desire.

hi, cutie!! right now i'm mostly looking forward to things that have finished airing haha, like a few jbls and dangerous romance. if it's a jbl released this year - i want it. the last bl i finished watching was, iirc, taikan yoho and i haven't been interacting with the fandom on here in terms of commentary in months. i've been out of the loop so getting this question makes me very excited and flattered but also a lil sad cause i might not have anything of substance to say.

i'm not too sure what is coming up in terms of shows but last twilight is smth that i hope i get to keep up with! @stormyoceans managed to get and keep me excited about it so that could be a bit of a comeback for me. i dare not be excited for supposed 2024 gmm releases for now (except maybe for the kieta hatsukoi adaptation uwu) and i'm not really aware of what the other companies are putting out.. oh, i am interested in middleman's love! although i never actually watched bed friend, idk why i'm so interested in tutoryim considering i never even finished cutie pie but here we are 😄

as for other media - i'm interested in how ofmd s2 ends; i kinda want to watch miyazaki's the boy and the heron because it's gonna be released in cinemas here! trying to hype myself up to go to the movies alone lol; i'd like to watch a nice regular jdrama, maybe something like beni sasu life :) my happy marriage are a movie and an anime i'd like to get into as well; and lucky my love seems like it'd be to my taste!

anyways, there are plenty of fun shows out there, both older and newer <3 i personally have no desire to watch a lot of stuff so there are no personal recs i can give you about recent or upcoming shows. the dash seems to be full of lots of opinionated bloggers who are keeping up with everything that's currently airing so i'm sure goof stuff are being released and there's def a lot that you're going to like! sometimes synopses don't sound too promising but the series turn out to be really enjoyable so keep an open mind ☺️ in any case i can always recommend older stuff..? if you crave smth in particular i'm alwaysss open to digging through my lists💕💓💞 that being said, i get the desire to watch new stuff as they're being a topic of discussion in the fandom and it's a lot of fun so i'll encourage you to pick a few random shows - varying by country, genre, cast, company, and try to keep up with them weekly. maybe also look into het dramas or even anime? western series? books or games? sometimes you may need a palette cleanser and if the current catalog of upcoming bls isn't really doing it for you, direct your attention elsewhere for a minute. that's what i'm kinda doing rn after a bit of a burnout and it feels good. just mix it up <3

further moffat things: stupid quips about beaches

this appears to be a commentary on weapons manufacturing and capitalism but it's about as unrelated to actual political and economic realities as you'd expect for a dw episode

the performance between millie and ncuti during the handoff was MEMORIZING. the dialogue was a bit silly and quippy bc of moffat's influence when earlier I think it had been quite grounded,but the actors still pulled through

splice constantly calling her dad 'daddy' weirded me out not bc it's an unusual thing to call her dad but because she didn't sound like...a regular child asking, the syntax of the dialogue was just unnatural. like even saying 'him' a few times would have solved it but she said 'daddy' EVERY time she referred to him. and her acting was strangely bereft of emotion as well which could be anything from the writing to the directing to not wanting to push a young actor but it was a very odd scene and moffat writes kids kind of weird in other episodes so I think it's him

the bit about the church being an army was quite good ngl. the combat bit was quite confusing and even gatwa's fantastic acting couldn't make the scene anything besides a jumbled mess 😭

the stuff about ruby being tied to christmas magic is a big hazy in my mind but if you were there for my UC lb you know how disgusted I am at the idea of xtianity attaining Real Myth status in any fantasy cosmos so I did roll my eyes a bit at the snowflakes and such, and also what wasthe POINT. like??? it came out of nowhere and the doctor was like 'she can do that :)' and then that was the end of it

the skye boat song as the doctor's grounding method for this episode is one of the highlights. It's a lovely song, and it suits the eerie melancholy of the characters very well, especially with the performances

as clumsy and melodramatic a speech as this may be, I do love the core concept of an AL creating the conditions for endless warfare to continue profiting and continually killing people who are too expensive to keep alove. it's a little nonsensical, heavy-handed, and not relevant to actual war profiteering except in the sense that AI is used for military purposes, but the righteous anger of it all it satisfying. it could actually be saying more about private healthcare, but that doesn't really seem to be its focus

also moffat really tears into the concept of fighting blindly for a cause you don't understand out of baseless loyalty, which i can't even say I argue with. he may have been a bad showrunner and a weird misogynist and fond of annoyingly convoluted and self-important plots for the doctor, but a lot of his episodes and lines were definitely daring and memorable

the doctor reasoning with the AI by appealing to his fatherly sense of duty was...sorry but that was so dumb. HE WAS A COMPUTER GENERATED SIMULATION!! and you convinced him to somehow hack the system of an advanced weapons manufacturer by yelling DAD TO DAD at him a bunch of times!!!

I think it was a mistake to limit gatwa's movement this entire episode. he's such an energetic, lively, physical actor - of course his subtler emotional parts were incredible, he was crying and gasping and singing the entire ep, but all this gesturing and running around and exclaiming is where he shines most naturally. I could just feel myself smiling so big when he started dashing around again!

the doctor seems meaner when moffat writes him but idk, maybe he has his little bitchy moments with RTD later too. but 14 has seemed so sweet and genuine and affectionate so far so this takes me aback

yeah it makes sense this was a moffat one. the convoluted technology...the doctor immediately telling his companion to stay behind when someone was in danger to heroically rush out into a battlefield...the setting itself literally being on fire and as close to war-torn as you could get...the precocious child telling a cool funny woman 'silly, this Random Ugly Man LIKES YOU!!' with the implication she should get her head on straight and date him....it all fits into place and this is literally just from the opening scene

what's wrong with portrait of a woman on fire?

I mean, I don't know if there's anything *wrong* with it, just like I'm not sure that there's anything *wrong* with the 2005 Pride and Prejudice (my beloathed) or Outlander (ditto) or The Favourite (etc.) These are films that have accumulated a large audience, clearly they WORKED for some people, they just didn't work for me. Our visions clashed, it happens.

But, as for why I have it blacklisted, the short answer: I didn't want to see it on my dash.

The longer answer: It's from my least favorite genre of film, the one genre of film that I can never forgive for existing, the one genre of film that actively makes me want to tear my own eyeballs out and set them on fire. Slasher films? Don't like the gorefest, but at least you get some classic monster designs, and at least I can say Psycho II pissed me off enough for me to draft out a fix-it fanfic for it once (yes, really). Actions films starring a bunch of identical guys in not-so-subtle military propaganda? Don't LIKE it, but it's white noise. Like, if nothing else, you can drift away and not miss anything.

Arthouse films.

Aka "films designed purely so that the overwhelmingly middle class audience can pat themselves on the head for being Artistic and Cultured, while not being a particularly enjoyable or pleasant experience for literally anyone else but the sort of person who prides themselves on watching arthouse films."

I hate it. I hate it.

I hate arthouse films with a fiery, burning passion.

(And, before anyone accuses me of anything so heinous as being a mcu stan: I'm going to point out that it's possible to create something that asks questions about the world, that makes commentary, while still being an enjoyable experience.)

Now, as for the film itself: I don't like the thesis of it. I don't like Schiamma's vision. I wouldn't say it's a shitty vision, but it isn't mine. It's this bougie, white sort of feminism that says that, essentially, if you take away the patriarchy, if you take away the men, there's this wonderful world that opens up where all these other things -- race, class, etc. fall away and are replaced by this wonderful collaborative world.

From the interview in the Independent:

“I wanted to use the tools of cinema so you would feel patriarchy without actually having to embody it with an antagonist,” says Sciamma. Free from the gaze of men, Marianne, Héloïse, and the servant Sophie (Luàna Bajrami) are in a sort of utopia. There, the women and their love can briefly flourish. “When a man comes back in the frame,” smiles Sciamma, “it’s a jump scare.”

In the Vox interview:

"For instance, ask yourself the question of “how do you embody sorority?” The answer being, a long take, a wide shot, of three women in the kitchen with social hierarchy being totally turned around, with the aristocratic women cooking, whereas the maid is an artist and the artist is looking at the maid. And they’re silent. This is such a powerful image, and it’s so easy to make.

People are telling me, “Oh, your film is a utopia.” And I’m like, “Yeah, but our utopias are not ideas we have in our minds. They’re not things we wish we were living. They’re rooted in our own experience.” I know about sorority, I know about an all-women world. It’s not a utopia. It’s part of my life. And that’s what I rely on to make these images."

And again, I want to emphasize that I'm not saying that sorority DOESN'T exist, I'm not as cynical about sorority as she is about love, but I do believe in sorority in the same way as I believe in "collegiality" -- that they are both very convenient terms that are often used to ignore the very real structural imbalances that many women do profit from and are generally incredibly one sided. I have never really had the same luxury of that sorority that she talks about, not because I'm a woman of color, but because I grew up poor and incredibly autistic in a small, restrictive community. Some of the best people in my life have been and continue to be women, but also some of the worst terrorizers in my life have been women. I don't believe in her Utopia, it has no appeal to me, I don't buy it.

Likewise, with it's ending, we have Sciamma, very insistently, talking about the necessity of it (from the Vulture interview):

The question we have from the old culture, and the old world, is, like, “Why do they not end up together?” And I’m like, no, this is not respecting the lives of these women. To make them even think, maybe we could escape. Once you actually play with the idea of this conflict and this resolution — that’s why sometimes they make people die [in period movies]. That’s why there was no room on that door for Jack. Because otherwise they would have to put up with that. Nobody’s gonna die in our movie, but we have to respect the fact that it’s not possible [for them to be together]. It’s a new kind of story.

How would it not "respect the lives" of the (fictional) women for them to not end up together? Why would it not be possible? This is a common refrain I've seen about it, including in Veronica Esposito's article, where she says:

"But what, really, does change? Yes, Marianne and Héloise get to express themselves, they get to know the pleasure of each other's bodies, but they will never be partners living together in a real relationship. Such a thing is not possible in their time, for society has no place for women like them. Accordingly, these women never evidence even the smallest idea of what life would be like if they were free to remain together. The circumstances of the world in which they live would prevent their imaginations from conceiving of such an impossible thing."

It ignores that, for a number of queer women of that era, it was incredibly possible to balance both a marriage and an affair, especially since it was set in the 1770s, before there was a widespread societal suspicion around romantic friendships (that came with the collapse of Marie Antoinette's reputation via the libelles). There would be nothing UNUSUAL about two women having a close companionship. But it ends, why? Because it has to. For all that Schiamma emphasizes that this is a new type of film, it plays into some old preconceptions about queer women throughout history.

She also shows it, again, in the vox interview:

"Héloïse’s character is much more restrained, even though she is an aristocratic woman, than Marianne’s character. The tragedy of lesbian life is not the tragedy of lesbian representation. It’s not the same. Lesbians have been activists. They’ve had the opportunity to live their life more freely sometimes, than straight women, because they could avoid a lot of things, like getting married and having children."

I don't understand exactly what her vision is for pre-20th century lesbians, given that we SEE Héloise being married off. Is it that lesbians could magically avoid the patriarchy, or is it that they were forever trapped by it, doomed to never have a fulfilling connection again, pining for their lost love? I'm very confused on this point, honestly.

I would also note Andrew Young's letter to The Times' Literary Supplement:

Perhaps it is possible to sympathize with much of Muriel Zagha's review (Arts, March 6) of Portrait of a Lady on Fire, and indeed with the film, while retaining a serious reservation. Gourenez Kiberen (Presqu'île de Quiberon) is not an island (contrary to the review's repeated suggestion) and, in 1770, the language we would have heard spoken there by nearly all of the characters other than the two principals and Héloïse's mother would have been Breton, not French (or, if French, then in a manner quite missing from the film). If this is an egalitarian link across time to the eighteenth century, it is one in which linguistic and cultural equality has been thoroughly buried - as it continues to be - by filmmakers and audiences alike.

This is obviously very near and dear to my heart, but I do not understand how you can just...use Brittany as pretty window dressing while ignoring the Breton people and the Breton language (except for when you want to show something #Pagan or #Rustic.

Not even the bonfire song was in Brezhoneg:

“I wrote the lyrics in Latin. They’re saying, ‘fugere non possum,’ which means ‘they come fly,'” said Sciamma. “It’s an adaptation of a sentence by [Friedrich] Nietzsche, who says basically, ‘The higher we soar, the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly.'”

...

"It was a way to also convoke the imagery [of] witches,” said Sciamma. “In the meantime saying, ‘Well, you know, it’s just women gathering, living their friendship, exchanging knowledge, wise women, doctors, whatever, and, you know, drinking. It’s cold, so there’s a fire, and they might do drugs, you know, they fly. We wanted to convoke the imagery around witches.”

This was the 1770s, the Revolution hadn't yet come to try to erase Brezhoneg off the map. The Breton language is still under attack, it is still under threat. She is a Frenchwoman using Brittany as a nice, isolated set for her love story but not doing the basics of respecting the culture.

"Should the entire film have been in Brezhoneg?"

Unironically, yes. Then it could have actually lived up to its hype of doing something new. If I could wait for five years to write a fic set in Brittany in the 1790s because I knew I didn't have the cultural or linguistic background for it, a filmmaker with much more resources and material, who actually IS French and therefore has easier access to French-language materials on Breton, could have bothered to do the research. Especially since the suppression of the Breton language is being done. By the French. And has been done. By the French.

For someone who is making a big deal about changing the world (and, God, I'm not going to lie, she sounds like that one person in your friend group who self-identifies as an auteur and refuses to read a single thing you've written while guilt-tripping you into reading their three hundred page novel that they swear is going to be the next big thing. Like, that's ad hominem, but...it's the truth), she clings onto some old, old cliches.

So, is it harmful? I don't think so, no. Is it bad? I don't know.

It's just personally obnoxious.

Both of them have “naughty” piercings. Amelia has her nips pierced, and Pico has dicc piercings.

If they were wear other outfits than their standard.. Amelia would wear soft and form fitting outfits, but nothing tight (unless it involves kneesocks) Keith will wear anything bigger than him, but again, no pants of any kind Pico will wear clothes that look tight, but are still comfy enough for him to wear

Pico loves trying out whatever the person wants to try out/is into. Even if he’s never thought of it before, he’ll try anything out (as long as it’s nothing fecal or nasty like that). An example of this is getting stepped on and electrical stimulation (also here's a special mention with one of your tags on this one which I think might help provide a bit more context: #how I look up the electric thing and they off me a kit for $60)

Amelia cries the most with children movies, mainly cuz the main focus will usually be about family/bonds between friends, and that’s what gets her acting up. She loves them though

Keith loves butt rubs. Doesn’t even have to be in a sexual manner. He’ll lay on the bed and accept butt rubs while watching tv or playing on his phone. He gets grumpy when the person stops too early though. Amelia loves head massages. I’m talking deep past the hair to rub the scalp or lower head. Get the massage going, and she’s falling asleep in your hands within the next 5 minutes Pico likes to do the rubbing instead. He’ll accept rubs, sure, but he’s very touchy. He’ll rub anything soft for an hour straight. Butt, boobs, belly, thighs, hair, whatever. Pico likes running outside while it’s the dead of night. Not even as a jog - no, a full on RUN. Like he’s being chased, or extremely late to somewhere. He does it because he loves letting out all that energy, out of breath in the end, brisk air, nobody around to wonder what the hell is wrong with him. It’s an amazing feeling

Amelia haaaates spicy food. She’ll literally cut thru her food to eat the nonspicy stuff, or not eat at all. Even if it’s a speck of wasabi, or a dash of hot sauce, she hates it Pico will get himself sick sometimes with food. It’s because he’ll want to taste the flavor of something, but he’s already full but he doesn’t care. He’ll have ice cream despite having a huge dinner because he wants something sweet. Now he’s got a stomachache

All of them are genderfluid and bisexual. The one who is most picky is Amelia, by like.. 2%. You need to be a good cuddle buddy.

danny phantom 14-20 thoughts!! I finished up s1 :D these last few eps were actually really really good!!!

-did. did tucker really just say esperanto was a dead language only spoken as a secret code between geeks. google says around 100,000 people actively speak it. oh my god...it being an auxiliary language doesn't mean its 'just for geeks to speak in code' ...it helps bridge gaps between people who don't have a language in common...

-danny really isn't pulling punches when it comes to fighting the ghost-cop possessed people huh. like he SLAMMED KWAN INTO THE CONCRETE SO HARD. HE THREW PAULINA INTO A BILLBOARD. will that...I mean it WOULD carry over to their bodies non-possessed, right? like if the ghost piloting their bodies gets hurt?? itd be so upsetting to be possessed, lose time, then wake up covered in bruises (and possibly, broken bones??) real horror movie stuff im sure wont be addressed in any way

I am biased towards knights, and characters with swords, but he fucks so severely. and should sue danny for copyright infringement for stealing his design for his haunted house. if some 14 yr old broke into MY house and stole MY sword, id also be pissed. his evil winged unicorn rules too with its FANGS. and he just CAN SHOVE THE PORTAL OPEN WITH HIS HANDS??? is he the strongest ghost weve seen so far? idk but hes my fav. SOUL SHREDDER IS SUCH A COOL SWORD NAME TOO. ANY NAMED SWORD ALSO FUCKS. 'flaming bedsheets of DEATH' funny king. ALSO he was polite to dash and tucker when just asking for directions and telling tucker 'oh maybe, just a suggestion, maybe be nicer to me and be more respectful :)' I LOOOVE HIM.

-I noticed this in the Ember ep, but jazz has an electric guitar in her room!! talent musical queen!! its cool to see hobbies just in the bg.

-fright knight's murder castle reminds me of the booby trapped murder castle in zexal!! another supposedly 'for kids' show with murder/trap castles! we love that. if you are a dp fan reading this, give yugioh zexal a try. its also got 13-14 year old protags and involves (alien) ghosts. the cardgame is just a vessel for the plot, which is really good. (I just want more people to watch my fav yugioh, man)

-at this point, Danny's ghost enemies are a lot like, I dunno, batman's rouge gallery is the first thing that comes to mind. they all have their own gimmick and unique designs, but most of them are easy to beat after learning the Moral Lesson. I still get excited when any of them show up again, though. 18 is another valerie episode!!!! :D skulker really said you two will get along if I have to handcuff you together <3 and the gym teacher really said, youre married now, have a flour baby! ngl, I'm not really watching this show for the shipping stuff (which I am very scared to look at the fandom for after I finish this watch through- I feel like there's probably discourse/arguing about ships...) but.
