Here's a quick addition to this post, just a few thoughts on Kessler. This is my own personal opinion and interpretation, no offense to anyone who has a different take on this matter. The following is also relevant for my writing/rp activities and will be canon in Billy's main verse.

I go along with the idea that Kessler is a sentient symbiote but only to a certain degree and I think this is really important. For me this makes or breaks the whole plotline. Kessler is not a complete separate being or personality, he also doesn't come up with anything Billy haven't thought of before. Kessler is an unhinged and amped up version of Billy without a moral compass, he feeds and draws from what is already there, coming from the darkest and most rotten corners in Butcher's psyche. This would line up with the concept of "all the V does is just amp up all that shit that's already inside". Therefore in my interpretation Billy is not unconcious, blacked out or taken over by Kessler. I will not make him a victim of circumstances or depict him in a way where he cannot be held accountable for his actions. I think this makes his final arc even more tragic. For the love of him as a character, he drives the narrative with his choices and has to deal with all the consequences. He will be at war with himself, he truly is his own worst enemy and being hit on the head with the bitter truth that this thing inside grew from his own mind as a result of his bloodlust and violent desires.
