as a DC/Marvel fan you should know that there is no correct timeline, everything happens at the same time, that is, there is no “first” conversation. fax.
why would I be bored? you're so cool wtf 🤨 and okay, so if we were to talk about them I would follow your encouragement... which is definitely not what's happening here, definitely.
the therapy thing caught me off guard- but yeah, things are getting so fucked up it's kind of sad actually. I have nothing to add since you're literally taking the words out of my mouth here. I'm not particularly a football fan, not that kind at least, so I didn't even know about the existence of this team and these fans before. I was definitely happier when I didn't know they existed to tell the truth and you're right about them being disgusting, I only got a glimpse with some fans who commented on Hailee's pics in the game (mostly made by men. not trying to generalize but wow, how shocking) the urge to throw up was real.
It seems that now it's time to sit back and hope for the bare minimum. that's it, let's focus on the good things, meaning: Kate's so-called quirks. (yeah, sometimes it can be hard not to see Hailee herself in her characters-)
– 🌟
you know what? that's a very good point and i could probably make a very cool reference or joke to expand on it but my brain is tired so...my bad
first i'm mysterious and now i'm cool? my ego is going to end up being massive at this rate. i'm very glad we're definitely not talking about them because this article does a great job at explaining a lot of things but it's also kind of a long read. and i definitely wouldn't like to point out the similarities between michelangelo and emily dickinson or the fact that said similarities in their poetry is what sent me down a bunch of rabbit holes, not all.
you have no idea how refreshing it is to find someone who understands what i mean and feels the same way. it's hard to explain how tired yet worried i am. it's all just an endless loop that ends in me getting more and more annoyed each day. i've never liked football and i'm so pissed hailee is the reason i've learned so much about it. everything i know about JA and the buffalo bills has been against my will but my insta explore page doesn't care and keeps making me see it. [AND YES, i second that. i know "not all men" and whatever but every comment i've seen from his fans is disgusting. and it only furthers my belief that she cannot be happy or okay because on what earth would someone like hailee be okay with those misogynistic assholes]
yes, please, i kept saying how much i didn't want to think about the situation and ended up writing a bunch of really long rants 😶 i would 119% prefer to talk about kate and all the thoughts i have floating around in my brain about her. [i'd also love to hear some of yours because i can't help but wonder how universal my way of understanding kate's personality is. last point about hailee, the fact that all her characters are queer/queer-coded in some way is incredibly telling hence my constant 'the closet is glass' comments because...come on]

New mini series “ I remember, I remember” the more your remember the older you are, personally it’s astonishing how much tech has done within the last decades. It is also a bit scary how dependent we are on n computer chips and all that goes with it,, to think,of what is to come,,,A.I.
Anyhow now to the point
I remember, I remember
Before the first microwave ovens, when they first came out they were only at cafes and such
The first video games, we were advanced at my house. Had an Odyssey Pong, it had 4 games “pong, hockey, squash and a handball game for one player. I think you could control paddle size and speed, not sure if you could play against computer, but the one we had you could remove controllers that were wired in. Amazing,,,then the Atari age with pixelated cartridges,
The first calculator, dad got it on black market for $100. It was trex LED read out, I forget how many digits it had, but only 4 basic functions + - / * it did have a recall memory, he’ll use kids fought over using just for fun
Big one. The home computer, I remember before we had anything, then the commodore age all DOS command type based, now there is more memory on a micro sd than what would take a large room to store. There is 1,000 times more power on the cheapest of phones than what was top line Pc. Then dial up internet, to download a song took hours, no joke hours to download a simple song.also texted based games which I still enjoy.
Mobile phones, enough said, what the hell would we do without them lol. First was the pager. I remember running to answer phone in time, busy signals, knotted cords, phone books. The first cordless phones with lousy reception. or how about reading maps to get directions,,,lolMy gang to group talk when we couldn’t meet used CB radios to chat instead of group text.
Televisions,, from small screens to console that weighed hundreds of pounds 3 vhf channels, maybe 4 or 5 uhf,,,having to adjust antennas, vertical and horizontal hold, black and white. Waiting for holiday specials,,,,then came the video tape, VHS and Beta, laser disc,,, then incredible compact disc then blue ray. I remember spending hours looking at store to rent a movie,,,be kind rewind, or get a fine lol,,now huge wide screen, ultra HD smart tv, that are super light and super cheap
Along those lines. Music, from the phonograph, reel to reel tape, cassette tape, 8 tract. Now like most movies and video games it’s all streamed and downloaded in seconds.
Digital cameras, no more hoping pic turns out once developed, first we had instamatic . Set the timer and peel or shake it, home camcorders. Now every phone ready to take pic of everything at any given moment.
There are many who go back to basics,say vinyl has better sound, or film 35mm cameras take better photos,
Has it gone to far, eliminating human jobs with automated check outs, ordering food at restaurants on an app. Will AI droids take over are tasks, eliminating jobs, creating a larger social gap.
Then the big question that happens all the time, just not catastrophic yet. Computer failure, virus, hacking, warfare. When we become so damn dependent on the co outer chip in everything we own....okay enough preaching,,,,pleas comment with other advances with past decade that you find good or bad
Dial tones, fax tones, busy signal, tv station sign off with National Anthem then a test pattern, rotary dial phones, the move from AM to FM. CB radios, pulling a tube out from tv then taking to local,drug store, put it in correct pin slot to test, TV repairman coming to house, milk man coming to house, no soy for us vegans, lol), cars you could work under the hood on,,before remote controls that control, tv, light bulbs, heat and ac, stereo, phones for selfies, ceiling fans, windows and shades, remote start car, Key less unlock and start cars, talking to human on the phone not a series of button push, cover art on albums, vinyl albums skipping or warping, records with multiple speeds, when most people paid with cash,

Fall In Fake Love With Me
Hey everybody! I’ve been off of this story for a minute, huh? So sorry about the long time between updates on this but thanks to everyone who is still sticking around.The next chapter should definitely be up quicker than this one was. If you want to be tagged in my future posts, please let me know. Please leave feedback as well, it really keeps me motivated to write. Tag List: @mychenrymadness @up-the-tube @heyimtavia @adorkable-blackgirl @henryhearts Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Sitting in the car after Henry’s little door stunt was... awkward to say the least. Charlotte couldn’t stop thinking about what it meant. Or if it meant anything at all. Was Henry flirting with me just then? Or did he do that to prove a point that we do need to practice? Am I looking too hard into this? Ugh.
Sighing, Charlotte turned away from the window she was staring out of to glance over at her best friend. Henry was focused on the road while casually bobbing his head to the music softly playing on the radio. He was driving with his left hand while his right arm was draped over the center console.
Taking a deep breath Charlotte as casually as possible slid her hand under Henry’s, entwining their fingers. Without saying a word, he shot a glance in her direction before giving her hand a gentle squeeze.
Ok, that was natural enough. And I’m not even that uncomfortable despite the fact that Hen’s hand is kind of sweaty. See! We don’t need to practice. Or IS this considered practice since no one else is around? Am I still looking too hard into this? Ugh.
Charlotte was absentmindedly scrolling on her phone with her right hand while her left stayed comfortably nestled in Henry’s. She looked up randomly and noticed that they had passed the neighborhood where the party was being held.
“Uh, what are we doing?” Charlotte asks. “You missed your turn.”
Henry just looked over at her then smiled softly.
“That creepy smile wasn’t an answer to my question.”
Henry laughs slightly but still doesn’t answer her.
“Oh wow, it’s really happening huh? This is the night you finally kill me.”
“Yeah, all these years I’ve been lulling you into a false sense of security so that I could murder you. Even though I am LITERALLY a superhero.”
“Semantics.”
“I’m breaking up with you.”
Charlotte rolls her eyes in response but doesn’t say anything verbally. After driving for a few more minutes they arrived at their destination.
She almost forgot they were holding hands until he pulled his hand from hers when they arrived at their location.
“Chantel’s? What are we doing here?” Charlotte asks.
“WE are going on a date.”
She whips her head in his direction. “We’re doing what now?”
“I’m kidding, we’re just getting something to eat before the party. Relax.” Henry chuckles.
“You could’ve just said that.”
“Yeah but your reaction wouldn’t have been as fun” he says as he gets out of the car.
“Whatever. And we couldn’t go through a drive thru and eat in the car because...?” she counters as she also exits the vehicle.
“Well we could have but where’s the fun in that?
Charlotte rolls her eyes again but follows him towards the establishment.
“Plus I told Bianca that we already had dinner plans, remember?”
“Yeah why did you say that? I actually don’t mind Mastro’s.”
“Because” Henry opened the door to the semi-formal restaurant and gestured for her to go in. “Everyone is going to be at Mastro’s.”
“Exactly. Isn’t that what we want?”
“Not necessarily. Us being here will show exclusivity.”
“How’s that?” Charlotte wonders as they stand in line.
“We’ll be here. And although we could have hung out with everyone, we chose to be alone instead.”
“Sure...but I still don’t see the point of being here specifically, we could’ve just gone to Nacho Ball.”
“Yeah but Nacho Ball isn’t a good place to flex for the Gram.”
As he said that, they reached the hostess station. “Reservation for Hart please.”
After being seated in a booth they looked over the menu.
“Order something that will look good in photos” Henry urged.
“This isn’t like a super fancy restaurant but okay.”
“Yeah but it’s fancier than Mastro’s and that’s all that matters.”
“I guess.” Charlotte shrugged.
After ordering their meal and waiting for it to arrive, the two made small talk.
“So what’s the strategy for the party?” Charlotte inquires.
“Uhhhh? I was thinking that we could wing it.”
“Of course you were. Hmm. Why don’t we keep up this exclusivity thing? That way we don’t really have to interact with many people but they can still see us together.”
“I guess that could work. Sure.”
“Okay so when we get to the party let’s just find a corner to chill in for like an hour and then we can leave.”
“Deal.”
At that moment, their waiter brought their food over. Charlotte picked up her silverware but Henry stopped her from taking a bite.
“Pics or it didn’t happen. Remember?”
“Oh yeah, what do you want me to do?”
“Just look at me and smile.”
“Simple enough.”
Charlotte smiled while Henry tries to make sure both her and the food were in frame.
Wow her teeth are perfect. Henry thought to himself.
“Got it.”
“Cool, let me see?”
“Yeah sure. Hold on, I’m just typing a caption.”
Charlotte takes a few bites of her dinner while she waits.
“Okay here” Henry says while passing her his phone.
On it she can see an in-progress Instagram post with the picture of her, which turned out great, and a caption that says ‘Prettiest girl in the Tri-State area’.
“Alright Doofenshmirtz, Tri-State area? Really?”
“I don’t know! I realized as I was writing it that I’ve never flexed for the Gram before.”
“Clearly. I haven’t either but saying that your “girlfriend” is pretty in only three states is definitely not it. How about this?” Charlotte asks she changes the caption on the photo and hands the phone back.
“Prettiest girl I know” Henry reads out loud. “Fax. Alright that works. And...posted.”
When Henry looks up from his phone Charlotte is staring at him incredulously.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Did you just say fax?”
“No printer. Why?”
“I’m the prettiest girl you know?”
“Objectively speaking, yes. 100%.”
“You can’t be objective about beauty. It is inherently SUBjective.”
“Suuuurrreee, Charlotte ‘PYT’ Page.”
Charlotte looked at him even more confused. “You know what? Let’s just move on. Should I post something of you?”
“Yeah but let’s not do the same type of photo. Ummmm...here” Henry says as he goes over to her side of the booth. “Scoot over.”
Charlotte obliges and then Henry throws an arm over her shoulder.
“Cheese” he says while taking her phone and snapping a photo of the two. Then he leans in and kisses her on the cheek for the second picture.
“Oh that’s perfect. We look goooooooood.”
Henry putters around for a few moments before handing her the phone back.
“My date is better than yours” Charlotte nods her head in approval. “Not bad Hart” she says while officially posting it online to her profile. When she exited out the app she notices that Henry also changed her phone screen background to the first picture they took.
“Really Henry?” She asks while turning the phone around so he could see what she was referring to.
“Yeah really. Real couples have each other on their lock screens, it’s a thing.”
“Ok well make it your lock screen too. Let me send it to you.”
“No need.”
“But you just said-“ she cuts herself off after Henry flips his phone towards her so she could see his background. It’s the picture of her upside down on the ManCave couch. The snapshot he took on the day this whole fake dating thing started.
“Okay then” she concedes.
They continued their dinner in relative silence but it was a comfortable quiet. The stifling air from earlier in the night had completely dissipated.
Once finished, Henry paid for their meal and they left Chantel’s hand in hand.

The Exception. 6. Epilogue
They had 4 kids, Britany their little Bree, Luke, Adam and Chris. Life took the third back to God just a week after he was born.
They cried, they mourned, weeks turning into months and Chris came unexpectedly, bringing happiness and joy back to the family.
Stefan stroked the old picture with his thumb.
Mieke and he were standing on the Sydney Bridge, Bree in his arms, Luke in his mother’s. Adam was still growing inside his mother’s womb, little angel who had been ghosting his memories for more than 50 years.
Cora, as she was used to on each Sunday, took this picture in May 1945, Adam was born in June, about two months early.
They were celebrating the end of that damn war, the World sighed in relief but there was so many wounds to heal.
Europe, Russia had been devastated; Germany and Japan would pay for their faults for decades. Mankind would recover, maybe, and have its dignity and faith in humanity bringing goodness back.
Chris was missing in the black and white picture. He came the year after Adam died.
Stefan felt a stab in his heart at the reminder. Mieke and he had been more devastated by his lost than any city blown up to ruins by bombings.
They cried again and again, fighting hell to get up in the morning, trying their best to keep up a smile on their tired faces and raise their other children. Mieke had acted like a ghost for months and all his attempts to cheer her up failed miserably. She closed her heart and her thighs to him, slowly fading away.
One night where she was silently crying, he took her in his arms and rocked her gently; his chin on the top of her head, whispering soothing love words in her ear as she finally let it go.
She cried and hit her fists on his chest, biting his shoulder to keep herself from screaming too loudly. She dug her nails deep into his skin, leaving marks, and then slapped his face with all the force she had left.
Like it was his fault. Like it could be someone’s fault.
He let her straddle him as she was beating him up, until she crashed down on him, exhausted and panting. He wrapped his wife close to his chest and sat up; combed back her hair damped with tears, stroked lightly her perfect lines, then brushed her lower lips, red from being bitten to blood.
“Mieke, I love you.”
He just said.
She stared at him for a solid minute, reading deep sadness in his eyes, along with hope. And love.
She leant over to brush her lips on his, and then pushed him back to the mattress. Grabbing the hem of her nightdress, she rolled the cloth up her thighs and lifted her ass up to line up with his shaft. Her fingers grasped his pec, and she sighed as she slid down his cock, her eyes never leaving his.
She made love to him, the same way she always had, in their other life.
Chris came 9 full months later. They welcomed this strong young boy, healthy and bald. Happiness filled their house again, along with the cries of the newborn, hungry both for life and milk.
The Kaiser was right; they fought for human rights and equality on each occasion.
They fought for the rights of the natives, and drove to Canberra that day in 2008, when Kevin Rudd apologized officially for the shameful way Australia treated Aboriginals and the stolen generation.
They fought for the equality between men and women, between all human beings, whatever colour their skin was.
They fought against the ‘gay panic defense’ law, which allowed people to justify a murder in the name of their fear of homosexuals.
More recently they fought for gay and lesbian’s rights, hoping for them to be allowed to get married one day. Love was love after all.
They were involved in several causes and proud to teach this to their children. Goodness and justice as a legacy.
And Australia was on its way to the fairness she claimed.
Mieke died the year before, in her mid 70s. Breast cancer. At least, he had all his family back home for the funerals.
Stefan let a sob out, it still hurt so much. They had a good life together; they could tell they knew love and happiness. Which he wished to all his children and grand children.
Brittany married twice and gave birth to three girls. She had to follow her latest husband to Perth and he missed his little Bree so much. She called her mom and dad every day by phone or Skype.
Handwritten letters and much awaited mails were bygone days. He wondered how things would have gone if Mieke had been able to call the Kaiser with her IPhone and get an answer by fax or e-mail within an hour.
Anyway, the two or three times a year he had them home was never enough to enjoy his beloved daughter and her team, to which he loved telling stories of their mother as a child. She still thought she was born here in Sydney, as written and stamped on her certificate of birth.
Luke had always been a lonely and introvert child, only fully alive when talking about ocean and what’s beyond. He was eager to travel the world, dreaming of being a sailor or working on an oil rig. He loved staying all by himself and told his parents he didn’t feel like he belonged there. He was only 6.
Mieke had cried many rivers, blaming herself not to have been able to take care for him after Adam died, foreseeing their son leaving their household at an early age, which she wouldn’t survive as she repeated again and again.
She survived though, when he came home at 17, hired as a steward on a yacht, bound for a cruise to French Polynesia. He was over excited, about to ‘live the dream’ , jumping up and down through the house, packing his stuff and shoving them in a big duffle bag.
Pulling his crying mother in a huge hug, he begged, subtly delivering the speech he had prepared for the occasion.
“Mom, this is what makes me happy. I promise I’ll send you postcards from every single place I land on. Mom, please, let me go.”
Stefan looked at the wall where thousands of cards were pinned. There was no country in the world Luke had not put a foot on.
He tried to settle down in Sydney when he was 30, even took a wife and had a son. But this was not a life for him. He had stayed at bay for 4 years but the ocean screamed his name so loud every fucking day and he had to struggle too hard not to pack and leave within the second.
Chris had always been his favorite. Not really his fav but they always had been very close. Thinking alike, same sense of humour, same skills in teasing and winking, same no skill in taking pics. Mieke was use to mocking them, saying they couldn’t take a good picture to save their lives.
Chris married a blonde beauty who brought two children into the world. A girl and boy.
They named their first born Bree, after Chris big sister. And the boy was weirdly called Jai, a name he had never heard before, Stephen as a middle name. Like his beloved grand pa.
Bree had dark eyes and hair, she reminded him of Mieke so much. Smart and beautiful, she wanted to become a teacher like her mother. She was surprisingly -not that much- very skilled in foreign languages.
The boy was the perfect Aussie bloke, blonde curls, amazing blue eyes, sporty, cheeky and kind of a womanizer. He had inherited his frame but looked so much like his mother. Pretty allergic to each foreign language that was not deep accented australian.
He often paid a visit to his grand parents, shamelessly skipping school to sip a beer with his grand pa, chitchatting about girls, life and acting. It had always been his passion, playing someone else, telling stories.
He was chasing the gig, dreaming of a career in Hollywood.
Stefan chuckled. He and Mieke had been very talented at it. Being someone else, telling stories, lying about their roots.
Mieke made him swear to never ever speak about their former life. Too dangerous. The shadow of what happened when they arrived in Sydney haunted her brain and she told him she’d rather kill him than relive those bad times.
Their deepest secret had laid under a floorboard since they moved in this house, after Luke was born. Sealed like their lips.
The ID they made whilst in London before leaving, Nietzsche’s 'Beyond good and evil’ he still remembered Mieke’s note and the first page by heart. The letter the Kaiser wrote to save Stefan’s life. The official court decision that made him a free man. Their wedding pic. Few pics of them taking pose with Cora or Marvin before they had to cut ties with them. To keep the secret.
It was a miracle that none of their children or grandchildren ever asked about their roots, their story, where Mieke’s name came from or why she kept calling his husband Stefan instead of Stephen.
The rules of family secrets. No questions.
At some point, he would have to tell his family the truth.
Stefan Brandt and Mieke De Jong.
The Kaiser Willem II. The spy, the murders, the war, the run. The real story of Bree’s birth. Her real name. The reason she named all her dolls Cora. The real reason why Luke lived for sailing. Running from Oz to find where he was really from.
The reason why Jai wanted to be somebody else for a living.
The real story of the Courtney’s.

📖 for what my muse would write about yours in their diary.
❝ 15 june, 2017 01:27 a.m. pstmarin county. but they’re all starting to blur together, at this point. i know i should pay more attention, i’m not an idiot ( thought i can think of a few people who might disagree…. i digress ), but it’s like i look out into the crowds or glance around the room and there’s nothing to tell apart. should i be concerned about that ? dad’s already lost iz, he doesn’t deserve to lose both of his children, right ? does he ? am i being too naïve, too short-sighted, because it’s not as if any of his policies actually affect me ? i’m so tired of thinking. i just want to float endlessly in the sea. disappear while it’s dark and not come back.
04:52 a.m. psti think i figured it out. it’s iz. they started putting up a wall, not planks of wood but concrete too high to scale without being obvious, without holes to crawl through, between the public beach i used to go to all the time and the private club’s property further up the pch and all i can think is that that’s what’s going to happen to us. i’ll see her less and less and less and then i won’t see her at all. god. i don’t want that to happen. i don’t want to lose her. i don’t want to lose anyone but i especially can’t lose her. we’re always shared everything and i don’t know what it’s like to share nothing. i have to call her. i’m going to do that. as soon as we’re both awake. go down to the public beach and have drinks and go out as the tide comes in and find what lies under the tide pools.
05:00 a.m. pstdad and iz. the ocean and the shore. i don’t know how i can be torn in so many different directions at once and still survive. i know i can’t do it much longer. i need to decide. i need to be truthful with iz and dad and mom and myself for once in my goddamn life. i need to get this weight off me. i need to do something.
fuck, i need to sleep. ❞
📷 for what my muse would say to the paparazzi about yours.
❝ not funny. not even slightly. that’s my sister, that’s my family, take a moment and think about what you would feel if someone was screaming obscenities about your sister, or your brother, or your mom while all these lights are flashing in your face. just think about it. step back. i know you’d love to get pics of a gubernatorial candidate’s son swinging at you and you’d love for me to hit you or smash up your camera so you can sue, but that’s not going to happen. i’m going to ask you, politely, to never call izzie macnair that again, but if you cowards want to, say it to her face and see if you survive. ❞
 for what my muse would say to the person trying to woo your muse.
❝ you have to take it slow with izzie, there’s nothing she loves more than waiting for a relationship to grow. no dramatic gestures, no professions of love or anything like that. she hates surprises and she hates presents, you can’t get her anything, she wants to buy everything for herself and would probably stop answering your calls if you tried to buy her so much as dinner or flowers. it’s simple, really, think of all the things you think she would like, and then reverse it, because that’s how she works. doesn’t make sense ? do people ever make sense ? does anything ever make sense ? oh, one other thing, she loves long, long beards with crumbs stuck in them. she’s got a thing for them. ❞

🔪 for the eulogy my muse would give for yours.
❝ this is never a place where you want to be standing. it feels impossible to do my sister justice with words alone, which is one of the reasons why i wanted to speak to you all here, surrounded by one of her favourite things in the entire world, art, with the people she loved most, and maybe we can all feel the excitement and the joy and the love she felt standing in this gallery. when we were at our grandmother’s funeral when we were younger, someone told me ‘ funerals are for the living ’ for the first time. i was offended, then, because the day was clearly about my grandmother down to the hymns and verses chosen and the cathedral we sat in in boston, but i understand it now. we are the living. this is for us. and it is extraordinarily painful and i half-expect that she’s faked her own death to avoid some unwanted suitor or a rabid debt collector or because she’s going to make a performance art piece out of this movie — then she’ll really be dead, because i’ll kill her myself— but when i sit too long in silence i understand, too, that she has moved on no matter how much i loved her. and i want to celebrate her, and celebrate our lives with her, free from everything that can ever make a person suffer, unless she’s in hell, which is a very real possibility, and i want to remember her now. i want to tell every story i told her, every story she told me, every story we both starred in. i can’t promise i won’t break down, and i can’t promise i won’t run to the bathroom at some point and never come back, but i want to try. if you have something to say, please, please, come stand beside me, please tell us what you remember about her. ❞
💌 for a letter my muse would write to yours.
❝ 2 april, 2013 hey iz. so, this is hong kong. victoria harbour to be specific. i tried to find the postcard with the most pictures on it, but none of them could really capture how vibrant this city is, it’s so alive that if you stand still for even a moment you’re going to miss something. mom hates it, probably, but she grew up in boston, so does she even understand culture ? haha. i’m kidding. she’s reading this over my shoulder. we miss you so much ! but we hope you’re having fun without us. knowing you, you probably are. just try not to forget your dear old family, climbing mountains and eating the most amazing food in the world. two words: hawker fare. two more: dim sum. one more: noodles.
seriously, i think you and i are going to have to come back to hk ourselves, maybe backpack around asia, because i’d love to see thailand too. there’s this ngo in thailand i’ve been researching, i think you’d love it too, it’s for children who are victims of labour and sex trafficking, there are a bunch of homes for them scattered across cambodia and thailand and they always need volunteers. maybe in the summer? i’ll remind you later. and send a bunch of links, you can check it out for yourself.
i’m running out of space, but i love and miss you iz, you’re killing it and i’m so proud of you, i’ll see you in a few days ! expect for all three of us to crash the second we land. you might have a dead family for a few days. love you !!! jamie ❞

hey dad—
quick note before you start writing your remarks for tonight.i talked to izzie. she doesn’t want anything to do with the rest of the campaign, and i think your time is wasted trying to get her back in. it probably looks better for you to have a politically split family in california, it draws in the liberal family vote you’ve been courting recently and could sway some of the more dead-set liberal voters if you let her say what she wants to say. ‘ more liberal by association ’, something like that.
see you really soon, dad. thanks, your son

i see trees of green, red roses too, i see them bloom for me and you, and i think to myself, what a wonderful world…. ❞

💒 for the toast my muse would give at your muse’s wedding.
❝ now, as most of you know, i’m izzie’s older brother. some might say ‘ twin ’, but i prefer ‘ older brother ’ because i was born almost a full hour before her and because fraternal twins share about the same amount of dna as ordinary siblings. i’m a doctor, i know these things. but, i have to confess, it would be a glaring omission if i kept ignoring ‘ twin ’. for the first few months of our existence were were packed in very small together, and once we were born, we just kept sharing everything. we shared rooms, even when our parents bought houses with more than enough of them, we shared friends, we shared toys, and, i think, we shared a soul, a heart. we still do, despite how drastically different we appear. i’m quieter than you, iz, and the fact that you probably want to argue about what i’m about to say just proves my point further. i leave a lot smaller mark. but when i’m passionate about something, my passion is as wide and infinite and deep as the pacific, it is the pacific, and there is only one other person in the world whose passion is like that too: my sister. you’re extraordinarily lucky to be the person she loves, and i hope you know that. if you don’t, i’m coming after you.
now, if i was to give you evidence of all of izzie’s passions, not just her new partner, we would be here for a few more hours. i read online that wedding toasts are supposed to have embarrassing anecdotes about the person you’re toasting, and i think it’s safe to say that as izzie’s older brother, her twin brother, i have more than anyone else who’s going to be toasting after me. but i think i’ll spare her tonight, mostly because i want her to keep loving me instead of turning that love to passionate hate. instead, i want to remind her of a time we thought we’d never survive, when it seemed we were on opposing sides and we would never find our way back. iz, i’m so glad we made it. i’m so proud of you. i love you. i wish you the utmost happiness and i would kill to be an uncle, at this point. to my partner in crime. to izzie. ❞

mackenzie forced herself to get over him around three months into his trip, or at least that’s what it felt like. when ryan came to her that night needing her help, she thought it would be a turning point in their relationship. mackenzie came to regret it soon enough. the woman was as sweet as could be towards the beginning. sending him cute little texts with heart emojis, naughty pics, updates of work gossip. now she barely even pretended to notice his arrival, despite the way the immediate recognition of his voice sent her heart jumping to her throat. her eyes stared dead ahead at her computer screen, lingering on a task she had long since finished. finally, the woman looked up at him. mackenzie’s gaze had softened for just a split-second, almost ready to forget all her anger over the past nine months. but she was a stubborn creature. mackenzie cleared her throat, leaning back in her seat. “can i help you?” mackenzie asked dryly, eyes briefly flicking to the papers. the irritation was dripping in her voice. of course he’s only here because he needs something. he only saw her as a piece of meat, mackenzie thought to herself, she should’ve known better than to think she was anything more.
she wasn’t still... important to him. he had long forgotten liar the night that he showed up at her doorstep after eliminating the threat he found that night. “ yeah sweetheart. i need these faxed over to the health department. lots of required company updates with the current crisis. ” those last words had an air quote that he swung her way with his free hand. the current state of the nation was no big deal in his mind. its not like it was dangerous in a life threatening way to the whole country, but more to select individuals. ryan did not imagine himself in the same category as those individuals.
it would be easy, so easy and instinctive to just look her way. to refresh his mind of a face that had haunted his late nights and early mornings in a way that drink almost didn’t help. he had to get really fucking drunk to forget her face—— and that was on the most desperate of nights. “ now that they’re signed, ” he loved that his name was on important levels with the company “ they need to be faxed. ” his sarcastic nature took over then, forcing him to tear his eyes away from the screen so they could land in her direction;; guards already up so any chance of emotion showing was stomped out before they became more than a thought. ryan’s eyes were simple, blank but he smiled a con smile;; one that stated he was in charge and emotions or females wouldn’t change that.
#{ { interactions;; ryan x mackenzie } }#{ { interactions;; ryan } }#{ { just gonna casually mention the virus??? he dont think its that big of a deal }}

(Phil’s pov)
Philip Lester lived in a world where people had ‘soul-quotes’. That was the name of the little thing that was written on your arm from birth, the first thing your soulmate would say to you. Some people found their soulmates when they were just 7, some people even had to wait fifty years, and some never got their soulmate. Maybe they never met, maybe their soulmate was mean or abusive, or maybe they didn’t have a mark, or their soulmate had a mark for another person.
Soulmates didn’t have to be relationships, more often than not they were, but they could be friendships too.
The thing with Phil’s soul-quote? It was in danish. ‘Undskyld, men tog du lige et billede af mig?’ what?? He’d once tried looking it up on google translate, the sentence ‘sorry, but did you just take a picture of me?’ didn’t make any sense back then, but now, as a photography student, it kind of did. Kind of.
It was all very exciting though, him having a soulmate from a different country, while all his friends just had british soulmates. Phil also may have kind of dreamed about his soulmate finding Phil’s slight british accent hot.
But currently, he was more excited than ever. He was going to Denmark with his photography class at uni, because every year a country to go to was chosen by the students of the class, they’d have five options, and Phil may have convinced 13 people to choose Denmark. They would arrive at Copenhagen airport in about 45 minutes, use the rest of the day to get settled in, get right in to photography monday morning, and then take the train to a city in jytland called Aarhus on tuesday evening, where they’d spend three more days. Phil was ecstatic. Even at 8 o’clock on a sunday morning, he’d never been more excited.
~~~
The first day of Copenhagen was unsuccesful. He’d tried to speak to as many people as possible, even walking into some on purpose (do. not. ask). But no one said anything that could sound even a little bit like the thing he had on his lower right arm, in a squiggly writing - his soulmates writing. It’d taken several of Phil’s family members to figure out the letters, and it just made it all the more difficult that it was in a foreign language.
Phil was dead-set to try again tomorrow.
~~~
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He’d gotten a few ‘undskyld’s, but that was more or less it.
Now he was on the train to jytland, at 7:47 p.m., going through the pictures he’d taken of The Round Tower, Amalienborg Palace, a few birds, dogs, flowers, and people.
“Seem a little down, Phil? Didn’t find them today either?” Asked Camille, one of his friends, sounding like she felt rather sorry for him. Most of the people he knew, including her, had already found their soulmate, some were married, some not. Phil was the oldest person he himself knew who hadn’t found his soulmate yet. He was 22 for god’s sake. The most common age to find your soulmate was around 17. How long would he have to wait?
“Nah, I didn’t, unfortunately.” he answered. He got a few pats on the back with the people he sat with at that, but none of them really knew what to say, which was understandable.
“You’re gonna find them, promise.” said Mike, who was also Phil’s cousin’s soulmate. “Thanks man, anyway, did you guys get some good pics?” he asked.
“Yeah, I got one from the top of the Round Tower with a really nice view, also one of a dog with it’s owners sitting at a fountain. What about you guys?” said Mike, and so they continued talking until they had to get off the train.
~~~
First day of Aarhus? No luck. Phil was really fucking hoping that the second day was gonna be better (little did he know, it was).
~~~
Phil, Mike, Camille, Emma, and Damon were walking with each other along the Aarhus Canal, taking different pictures of it, buildings, cafés, dogs, people, and their ‘Baresso’ coffees. Phil had gotten an Ultimative Iceblend with mint, and it tasted like heaven. Camille and Emma had both bought a danish soda called Faxe Kondi, which tasted surprisingly well.
‘Holy-’ Phil couldn’t help himself, quickly putting his camera in front of his right eye and snapping a picture, when he saw the most breath-takingly beautiful boy he was to ever lay his eyes on. He had a brown fringe, sweeping to the left, sparkling brown eyes with little specks of golden and honey in them, and was smiling the brightest of smiles to some of his friends and, oh god, dimples as deep as Phil was in love. He was petting his dog, a black-spotted Grand Danois, and looking at some of his friends, laughing along with them. Well, until he wasn’t, and was suddenly looking at Phil, and oh shit, oh no, he fucking saw me taking a picture of him like some creep.
“Undskyld, men tog du lige et billede af mig?” he said, but of course, Phil didn’t understand shit.
“I-I’m sorry, say that again please? I’m british.” Phil explained with the slightest of embarrassed laughs.
The gorgeous boy looked down at his left arm, taking a couple of seconds before answering, with the most stunning smile ever; “Sorry, but did you just take a picture of me?”
And Phil burst out laughing, in relief, joy, happiness, so many different emotions.
“I- um, yes, yes I did actually.” He chuckled, more or less ignoring all the confused faces around them.
“Yeah? And not just of Bella here?” Pretty boy (also known as Phil’s soulmate, apparently, holy fuck) asked, scratching the big dog, that was more or less in his lap, behind the ear.
Phil chuckled. “Well, as charming as she is, that wasn’t the first thing on my mind.” He replied, smirking slightly at the now blushing boy, and if you asked Phil he’d probably refuse the slight tint on his own cheeks.
“Um, Dan? Hvem er din ven her?” asked a friend of the boy, Dan, as Phil had just discovered. Jesus, that’s a nice name. Is it short for something, maybe? What’s his last name? Phil thought to himself, and yes, he did feel a bit creepy to be honest, but he also knew that these were regular thoughts right after meeting your soulmate.
“Oh. det er- this is-” Dan giggled, not sure what to say since he didn’t kow his soulmate’ name yet, but kinda confused as to how his friends hadn’t caught on yet.
“I’m Phil Lester.” Phil said with a kind smile, reaching his hand out to Dan’ friends. Phil. Dan couldn’t help but let out a small, contented sigh, as his soulmate seemed to be the perfect person.
“Dan Howell.” Dan said at last and reached his hand out to Phil too.
“Howell? Isn’t that an english name?” Phil asked curiously, wanting to know as much about this boy as humanly possible.
“Well yeah, my great-great-grandpa was from Ireland and his son, my great-grandpa, got married to a danish woman who took his name, and so on.” Dan answered, quietly ushering Bella off of his lap so he could stand up before his legs fell asleep. He was about a head shorter than Phil, which was adorable, but would also be the cause of a great amount of neck pain in the future.
“Oh, you’re tall, no fair.” Dan whined and pouted, and Phil laughed, but was cut short by the voice of Camille. “Alright, not-so-wild guess, are you two soulmates?” she asked and when the two boys nodded to her, she couldn’t help but gasp along with Phil’s other friends and pull him into a hug, while some of Dan’ squealed a little and embraced him too, all laughing and congratulating.
“Alright, alright, but Dan how old are you?” asked Emma in a teasing tone. Phil snickered.
“Oh, I’m turning eighteen in June?” he told, not quite knowing why she wanted to know that, until she slapped Phil, exclaiming ‘old man!’. They all laughed at that, though Phil rolled his eyes and snickered again. “I’m twenty-two.” he explained.
Both Phil and Dan’ friends may have all lured off about fifteen minutes after that, but it’s not like the two really noticed. And Phil likes to tell himself that Dan didn’t notice the thirty-one pictures that were taken of him in the coffee shop they sat in for the next two hours, chatting and trying to teach Phil danish, though he probably did. And he probably noticed the twelve Phil took of him as they were walking and sitting beside the canal with Bella too.
~~~
Sadly, Phil couldn’t see Dan almost all friday because Dan still had school for a couple more weeks. That didn’t stop him from talking about him all the time, though. It was quite endearing, to be honest.
When Dan’ school day finally ended, at 1:55 because it was a short day, he and Phil met up right outside of the rather big - yet still much smaller than Phil’ old high school - building, they both smiled from ear to ear.
“Hey.” Dan said breathily.
“Hey.” Phil returned it in the same, slightly awe-struck, tone. “Don’t you guys have to wear uniforms?” he continued, noticing how Dan’ attire was a red-plaid sweatshirt, with the image of a dog and silhouette of a man in the center. Phil learned yesterday that Dan had quite an expensive taste.
“No, not here. When I was younger I always thought it would’ve been cool if we did, but I’m rather relieved now.” they laughed.
“Good. They’re horrific.” Dan laughed even louder at Phil’ words, and Phil could only say that he was proud of that.
“It’s sad that you’re leaving already. In two hours right?” asked the younger of the two, frowning deeply.
“Yeah. I was thinking if you maybe had the time, you could come say goodbye at the airport?” Phil said nervously, though he knew he had no reason to be. Dan smiled again, nodding.
“Yeah. We can exchange skype accounts, social media?” Dan proposed, and Phil nodded.
“Could we exchange a goodbye kiss?” said Phil, teasingly setting his hands on Dan’ waist, making the younger of the two giggle loudly.
“Sure.”
And so they did.
Unexpected Adventure: The Lake House Edition
The last seven years of my life have been punctuated with unexpected adventures. The farm The donkeys! Almost buying a ton of farmland and then not buying and ton of farmland and being a little devastated about it! Then, being glad I didn’t buy all of that farmland because of this…
My mom and I bought a lake house!
Backstory: A couple of years ago my mom said she really wanted to retire up by the farm but not, like, at the farm. At the time, she was looking at all of the nearby farm properties and possible land I could build a house for her on, but at some point last winter when I was working on the upstairs bath she said to me, “It’s taken you 3 years to finish this bathroom, there’s no way you’re going to be ready to build me a house before I retire… in seven years.” Which… fair point, Mom.
So then we started talking about the lake. It’s just a half mile down the road from the farm. Not a huge lake, but big enough to be all-sports. And, also, almost impossible to get a house on.
I was not worried about the impossible part because we had seven years. Surely something would come up in seven years.
Except my mom got this idea in her head, and then immediately sold her condo and moved into an apartment (so she’d have her money “free” in case something came up) and started checking Zillow for potential lake houses every single morning for the last two years. You guys, all I’m going to say is that SHE HAD A SPREADSHEET. You know I’m serious about building some shit when I’ve made a drunk sketch on the back of a junk-mail envelope. You know my mom is serious about some shit when she makes a spreadsheet. Just saying.
A great little house did come up a year ago, but the asking price was higher than we thought was reasonable (and that we could get a loan for) so I thought, we’ll just wait this out and when they realize that is an unreasonable amount of money for a 900sf house we’ll make an offer. And then in sold for cash above the asking amount in 24 hours. (Insert slight mental adjustment on how much money we’d be paying for a small lake house here. Yikes.)
Then, just a couple of weeks ago, I got a series of texts from my mom while I was on the way in to work. For reference, my commute is about an hour, and at the beginning of the drive she “just happened to see a house for sale on Zillow” and by the end of the drive she was 100% ready to buy it. So, with a better understanding of the lake-house market I was like, “okay, let’s buy it.” This was a Thursday and there was an open house on Sunday, and I thought we would be super proactive… maybe go look at it Friday or Saturday and put an offer in. Right? By the time my realtor got back to me at 3PM on Thursday they had 8 showings lined up for Friday, which didn’t even matter because the house was already sold.
My mom was devastated.
Do you see this wonderful woman who treats my chickens like grandchildren, and watches the farm when I want to go on adventures, and is the only reason this house has actual gardens and not just fucking weeds growing everywhere, and all she wants is a lake house within golf-cart distance of the farm?
Not fun to see her disappointed.
Also, my mom and I are a lot alike in how we handle disappointment… namely, we like to buy things. Recently, for me, it’s climbing holds. (See also: all of this) For my mom, apparently it was trees.
I mean, I got this text a week after the second potential lake house fell through, and then realized she had been talking a lot about trees for the past week. So I immediately called her and was like, “you’re not about to do something crazy right now and go spend a down-payment’s worth of money on trees or anything… right?!” and her response was dead silence for 15 seconds, and then… “I mean, I’m really sad we lost that house.”
Ha.
Here’s the crazy part. I convinced her not to buy a zillion trees, and instead meet me at the farm after work for dinner. I got home, opened a bottle of wine, started cooking, and–lo’ and behold– there’s a knock on the door.
Before I go on, can I just say how utterly unlikely it is that my mom would be at the farm on a Wednesday evening? I mean, ever. She’s here all the time on the weekends, and occasionally will come up during the week over summer when she’s on break, but she’s always gone before I get home. Except on this particular day.
So there’s a knock on the door. A few months back my mom made friends with one of our neighbors on the lake who often drives his grandkids by the farm on their golf cart, and whom my mom has invited over to visit the donkeys, etc. So I open the door, and there’s our lake neighbor, and he says, “I’m so glad I caught you, I know your mom is looking for a house on the lake and I just so happen to know that one is going up for sale next week.”
You guys.
I literally walked back in to the kitchen, shut of the stove, grabbed my mom, and was like, WE ARE GOING TO MEET THIS PERSON RIGHT NOW.
Which we did. They invited us into their cute little house on the lake (with zero advance notice that we’d be coming through their home.) They were gracious, their kids were polite and funny. They told us about how they bought the house next to them from a neighbor and had been fixing it up to move into (since it provided a little more space for their 3 boys), and when they said they were planning to put their house on the market soon, my mom and I were like, “Um. We’ll take it.”
And then went back to the farm and were also like, “holy shit, did we just buy a lake house?? unexpectedly??”
Yes. Yes we did.
I had a slight concern that the house might not appraise for the asking price (but it did!) and/or that the number of things they asked my mom to fax, fax again, fax with extra pages, and re-fax, might give her a permanent twitch in her eye (but it didn’t!)
And two months later, here we are…
Proud owners of a new lake house!
We closed yesterday, but technically we don’t have possession of the house just yet. (The family we bought it from needed a bit more time to finish up their new place next door, which, as a person who hasn’t had a floor in her kitchen for four years… uh, I can totally empathize with.) So I won’t be sharing any more details or interior pics until we’re actually “in” the place.
The lake house will be my mom’s primary residence (which means she’s signing up for that long commute I’m so used to at this point) and it will be a second property for both of us to take care of… BUT, it’s going to be amazing to have her so close by– golf cart distance!– and for both of us to have the farm AND a lake to play on. Plus, we really like the new neighbors. (Not just because they sold us the house, but because they’re awesome.)
There’s so much more to come. But for now, I’ll leave you right where we are…
Anxiously waiting to get in to this place!
And two months later, here we are…
Proud owners of a new lake house!
We closed yesterday, but technically we don’t have possession of the house just yet. (The family we bought it from needed a bit more time to finish up their new place next door, which, as a person who hasn’t had a floor in her kitchen for four years… uh, I can totally empathize with.) So I won’t be sharing any more details or interior pics until we’re actually “in” the place.
The lake house will be my mom’s primary residence (which means she’s signing up for that long commute I’m so used to at this point) and it will be a second property for both of us to take care of… BUT, it’s going to be amazing to have her so close by– golf cart distance!– and for both of us to have the farm AND a lake to play on. Plus, we really like the new neighbors. (Not just because they sold us the house, but because they’re awesome.)
There’s so much more to come. But for now, I’ll leave you right where we are…
Unexpected Adventure: The Lake House Edition
The last seven years of my life have been punctuated with unexpected adventures. The farm The donkeys! Almost buying a ton of farmland and then not buying and ton of farmland and being a little devastated about it! Then, being glad I didn’t buy all of that farmland because of this…
My mom and I bought a lake house!
Backstory: A couple of years ago my mom said she really wanted to retire up by the farm but not, like, at the farm. At the time, she was looking at all of the nearby farm properties and possible land I could build a house for her on, but at some point last winter when I was working on the upstairs bath she said to me, “It’s taken you 3 years to finish this bathroom, there’s no way you’re going to be ready to build me a house before I retire… in seven years.” Which… fair point, Mom.
So then we started talking about the lake. It’s just a half mile down the road from the farm. Not a huge lake, but big enough to be all-sports. And, also, almost impossible to get a house on.
I was not worried about the impossible part because we had seven years. Surely something would come up in seven years.
Except my mom got this idea in her head, and then immediately sold her condo and moved into an apartment (so she’d have her money “free” in case something came up) and started checking Zillow for potential lake houses every single morning for the last two years. You guys, all I’m going to say is that SHE HAD A SPREADSHEET. You know I’m serious about building some shit when I’ve made a drunk sketch on the back of a junk-mail envelope. You know my mom is serious about some shit when she makes a spreadsheet. Just saying.
A great little house did come up a year ago, but the asking price was higher than we thought was reasonable (and that we could get a loan for) so I thought, we’ll just wait this out and when they realize that is an unreasonable amount of money for a 900sf house we’ll make an offer. And then in sold for cash above the asking amount in 24 hours. (Insert slight mental adjustment on how much money we’d be paying for a small lake house here. Yikes.)
Then, just a couple of weeks ago, I got a series of texts from my mom while I was on the way in to work. For reference, my commute is about an hour, and at the beginning of the drive she “just happened to see a house for sale on Zillow” and by the end of the drive she was 100% ready to buy it. So, with a better understanding of the lake-house market I was like, “okay, let’s buy it.” This was a Thursday and there was an open house on Sunday, and I thought we would be super proactive… maybe go look at it Friday or Saturday and put an offer in. Right? By the time my realtor got back to me at 3PM on Thursday they had 8 showings lined up for Friday, which didn’t even matter because the house was already sold.
My mom was devastated.
Do you see this wonderful woman who treats my chickens like grandchildren, and watches the farm when I want to go on adventures, and is the only reason this house has actual gardens and not just fucking weeds growing everywhere, and all she wants is a lake house within golf-cart distance of the farm?
Not fun to see her disappointed.
Also, my mom and I are a lot alike in how we handle disappointment… namely, we like to buy things. Recently, for me, it’s climbing holds. (See also: all of this) For my mom, apparently it was trees.
I mean, I got this text a week after the second potential lake house fell through, and then realized she had been talking a lot about trees for the past week. So I immediately called her and was like, “you’re not about to do something crazy right now and go spend a down-payment’s worth of money on trees or anything… right?!” and her response was dead silence for 15 seconds, and then… “I mean, I’m really sad we lost that house.”
Ha.
Here’s the crazy part. I convinced her not to buy a zillion trees, and instead meet me at the farm after work for dinner. I got home, opened a bottle of wine, started cooking, and–lo’ and behold– there’s a knock on the door.
Before I go on, can I just say how utterly unlikely it is that my mom would be at the farm on a Wednesday evening? I mean, ever. She’s here all the time on the weekends, and occasionally will come up during the week over summer when she’s on break, but she’s always gone before I get home. Except on this particular day.
So there’s a knock on the door. A few months back my mom made friends with one of our neighbors on the lake who often drives his grandkids by the farm on their golf cart, and whom my mom has invited over to visit the donkeys, etc. So I open the door, and there’s our lake neighbor, and he says, “I’m so glad I caught you, I know your mom is looking for a house on the lake and I just so happen to know that one is going up for sale next week.”
You guys.
I literally walked back in to the kitchen, shut of the stove, grabbed my mom, and was like, WE ARE GOING TO MEET THIS PERSON RIGHT NOW.
Which we did. They invited us into their cute little house on the lake (with zero advance notice that we’d be coming through their home.) They were gracious, their kids were polite and funny. They told us about how they bought the house next to them from a neighbor and had been fixing it up to move into (since it provided a little more space for their 3 boys), and when they said they were planning to put their house on the market soon, my mom and I were like, “Um. We’ll take it.”
And then went back to the farm and were also like, “holy shit, did we just buy a lake house?? unexpectedly??”
Yes. Yes we did.
Trunk Insurance vs. Car Insurance?
I recently changed cities on my auto insurance going from a Cleveland, OH zip code to an upper middle class Cleveland suburb and my rates fell more than $200/half...I drive a '99 S-10, just a regular pickup truck, I am in the market for a new vehicle and ideally it would be a full size truck (Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra half ton)...my agent has the exact truck I would like to buy, so I asked him what that truck would be insurance-wise for me. It automatically went back up to what I was originally paying in Cleveland...around $650/6 mos. Other variables of my car purchasing ordeal are that I took a buyout from General Motors and I got a vehicle voucher included in the buyout, so another option for me is to get a Chevy Malibu which I could basically drive off the lot for zero money...I've been reading that sometimes car insurance can be more than insuring a truck, with the information I've provided can someone help me out and estimate if my insurance would be more for a basic/no frills 2011 Chevy Malibu or a 2011 Silverado/Sierra with some bells and whistles...and also, do Insurance companies look at the more options a vehicle has as being more to ensure??? any answers would be appreciated""
How can I report my neighbors for not having car insurance?
How can I report my neighbors for not having car insurance? My neighbors were both laid off from their jobs about three months ago. Earlier last week one confided in me that they were unable to pay for their car insurance and that they didn't know what they were going to do. I didn't take action then, because they were not working and rarely took their car out. However, the husband recently found employment and he has been driving the car EVERY DAY for the past week. They are nice people and we get along great, so it pains me that I have to do this. Who can I report this to? Should I just call the police station? Is there a way for me to verify that they were unable to pay for their car insurance (they were way behind in bills, so I doubt they covered it)""
""Closing on a house, need the title insurance?""
So far this home buying process has been hell, and I am ready to close this month rather than next month... But our broker said, to close by the end of July, it depends on when they recieve the title insurance... How much will my Geico Insurance go up after my accident?
I have Geico Insurance. I had a DUI 2 years ago, and I pay $150/month for auto insurance. Two months ago I rear-ended a guy in bumper to bumper traffic (he stopped short. I've heard 90% of rear-end accidents, the person who did the hitting is at fault, but it was impossible to maintain a safe distance since people were constantly cutting in vying for an edge.) Anyway, neither of us told our insurance companies, we both took pics of each other's cars (mine looked way worse cause it already had a busted front end from someone who backed into it while parked at night and took off with no note). So I got an estimate from his mechanic for $1700. To fix my front-end, it's probably going to be $3000-4000. My question is (would LOVE to hear from a current geico or or other auto insurance agent) How much will my rates go up? How long will they go up for? Do I get a point on my license for this? Because if the amount they charge me (over time, in higher rates) is more than $4700 (i.e. his $1700 + my $3000) then I'll just pay for both on my own and spare myself the DMV point. But if it will be less than that (i.e. the higher rate expires before it reaches $4700 more), then I'll just tell my Insurance company and deal with the point. Can anyone help me here? Much appreciated!""
Car insurance question about my 17 year old.?
I want to get a second car and let my 17 year old drive it. I am trying to find a car insurance company that will let me have every thing in my name and have her as the principal driver of my second car. The problem I am having is she is moving down the street. I can not find a car insurance company that will let me have what is called a different garage adress on the car I am wanting to let her use. I am in the state and I have tryed all most all the car insurances companys around here and online. I have even tryed to have things put in her name but it would cost her around 300$ dollars a month to insurance it. And that is just the basic insurance. That is why i want to just keep everything in my name Any idea's would help. And not I not going to lie and just have her drive it and move and not let the insurance company she is driving it.
Car insurance for 18 yr old male RIDICULOUS?
I'm 18 and male, so turns out car insurance companies think its okay to rape my wallet. I've been looking at a few quotes on different sites and they come up in the $300-$400 range. I tweak a few things, telling the generator that I'm a 30 year old married woman and then it magically drops to $70 per month. This is crazy, I'm an extremely careful driver, I never drive over the speed limit and I constantly check my mirrors. How the hell do young males afford it?""
Why did my car insurance go up instead of down after i turned 25?
In November I turned 25 years old. I've always been told the two good things about turning 25 is that I can rent a car for cheaper and I will have cheaper auto insurance. I was excited about this. But when I turned 25, my insurance went up. When I turned 18, my insurance was $80 a mo. I have had insurance since then, I have nothing on my record (never had a speeding ticket, nothing). I've always payed bills on time, and since I was 23 I had full coverage. I've had the same car since I was 23 which is a newer model and nothing has changed with my driving info since I was 23. At age 23 and 24 my insurance went up to $130 a month with full coverage, the same car, nothing on my record, etc... But on my 25th birthday, I went in to renew my insurance. Now since I turned 25, my insurance went up to $210 a month. The woman who gave me my quote said she was unsure why my insurance went up instead of down since I had nothing on my record and I am a valuable customer. She was really confused and has never seen auto insurance go up instead of down when someone turns 25 unless they have something on their record. i payed the price but they are investigating it but as of right now, they don't have any answers. Does anyone know why it went up?""
Impaired driving conviction effects on insurance in Utah?
Okay so I was originally charged with DUI because I was pulled over for swerving a bit and failed a urine test for weed at the police station, but had no drugs in my blood, which meant I was not under the influence at the time of driving. Unfortunately, in the state of Utah there is also a charge for Driving with Any Measurable Metabolites of a Controlled Substance. This charge has the pretty much the same mandatory minimum sentencing requirements of a DUI. My charge was reduced to Impaired Driving, which does not have the mandatory SR-22 filing and enhancements upon a third conviction as the aforementioned, but I have court tomorrow morning to be convicted of Impaired Driving, and I was wondering how much my insurance may go up??? It is only $46.67 a month right now... Also, how often might my insurance company check my record? It is really pretty freakin' lame I think because dirty urine but not blood means I could of smoked weed like 29 days ago and still had the damn metabolites in my urine right? Anyway, any knowledgeable input or prior experience would be greatly appreciated... Thank you very much in advance.""
7 underrated apps for freelance creatives
Slack, Behance, Freshbooks, Squarespace… there are many apps out there to make your life as a freelance creative easier and more productive.
So many, in fact, that some of the coolest apps fall into the cracks and you might not have even heard of them.
In this post we gather together some of the best apps for improving your freelance life that you might not have heard of. Of course, we’re sure there some other even we don’t know about, so please let us know your faves in the comments section below!
01. Bidsketch
Produce proposals faster with Bidsketch
Client proposals can be a real drag. Putting several hours into work that potentially may never see a financial return is a drain on both your resources and emotional energy. So it’s really useful to find an app that can at least reduce the time you spend on this.
Bidsketch promises to help you “create professional client proposals in minutes” with a range of customisable templates. These include boilerplate language that you’ll probably want to alter, but it’s great to have a starting point at least. Plus there’s a lot of automation that populates each template with reusable content, including figures such as fees, text, images and video.
Bidsketch doesn’t just help you with writing the initial proposal either. Once you’re done, you can then distribute your proposal to clients via a bespoke system that gives you analytics about, for example, who’s viewed it and for how long, and whether they downloaded it.
02. Shake
Shake helps you create basic legal agreements
Often one of the biggest worries you have when you first go freelance is dealing with all the legal aspects of client work. But the good news is that there’s an awful lot of online help out there. One of our favourites is Shake, which promises to help you “create, sign and send legally binding agreements in seconds” based on contract template.
Of course, the law is a demanding and complex beast, and a contract template will never be as detailed and comprehensive as a bespoke contract drawn up by a professional lawyer. But unless you’re carrying out big money work for a major client, the latter is normally too expensive to consider. And this easy-to-use app at least provides a useful halfway house in getting something down in writing that will make your client take the agreement seriously, and make them far more likely to want to resolve any dispute amicably.
03. RescueTime
RescueTime helps you keep track of where all your valuable time is really going
As a freelancer, it can sometimes be very difficult to know whether you’re spending your hours wisely and productively. How much time are you actually spending designing, for example, and how much on writing emails? Once you have accurate information like that, you can have a better idea of exactly how long a particular project is taking in reality, whether you’re really being as productive as you think, and whether you’re wasting too much time on non-core tasks or procrastination.
RescueTime is a great app for keeping track of where all your valuable time is really going, sort of like analytics software for your life. You tell the software what tasks you consider ‘unproductive’ and ‘productive’ (for example, using specific apps or visiting specific websites). And Rescue Time runs in the background and makes comprehensive records of how much you spend on each.
You can later read detailed reports of what you’ve actually been doing (which is often very different from what you think you’ve been doing). And you can even can tell it to block access to specific websites after a particular amount of time.
04. Tomato Timer
TomatoTimer aims to make you more productive through better time management
Do you lack discipline as a freelancer, or find it hard to concentrate for long periods? If so then, just as a Fitbit can help you exercise regularly, TomatoTimer may be able to help you become more productive.
It’s based on the Pomodoro time management technique created by Francesco Cirillo for a more productive way to work. You decide on the task at hand; click the Pomodoro button, which starts a 25 minute countdown; work on the task until the timer expires; take a short (5-minute) break; and every four “pomodoros”, take a long (10-minute) break.
That all sounds very prescriptive, but many freelancers have told us it’s exactly the kind of discipline that’s helped them stay on track and get things done without procrastinating. So it’s certainly worth a try.
05. TinyScanner
This nifty app turns your phone into a scanner
Even though we live in a digital world, there’s still a lot of paper-based bits and pieces that we freelance creatives have to deal with: receipts, contracts, photos, reports, and many other kinds of printed documents. So this handy app for iOS and Android, which turns your smartphone or tablet into a scanner, can save you a lot of hassle.
TinyScan lets you scan documents with your device’s camera and turns them into PDFs. You can scan in colour, greyscale or black and white; customise page sizes for PDF export, including Letter, Legal and A4; and protect your documents with a passcode.
Then once you’re done, you can share your PDFs via email, Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, OneDrive or Box, or just directly to your computer. You can even send a fax via the Tiny Fax app.
06. Freedom
Freedom is a chasity belt for the social media-obsessed
How many productive hours are you losing to your phone? Freedom is basically an online chastity belt for those who can’t fight the distractions of a device constantly beeping that someone’s spammed you on Twitter, or that a friend of a friend has posted a pic of their lunch on Instagram.
Used by more than a quarter of a million people, Freedom makes it easy to block the most distracting apps and websites from your devices while you’re trying to work. Working across iPhone, iPad, and Mac and Windows computers, you can start sessions on-the-fly or schedule your ‘Freedom time’ in advance to fit in with your working day. A great way to help you focus on the freelance work in hand, leaving you with more leisure time and a better work-life balance as a result.
07. Teuxdeux
Textdeux is a to-do app that’s as easy to use as a paper list
There are plenty of to-do apps on the market, so the idea behind Teuxdeux was to build something that was bare-bones, but visually compelling and highly usable.
The aim was to make an app as simple to use as a paper list, but with the extra functionality of digital. So, for example, the to-dos you don’t tick off automatically roll over to the next day; you can hide completed to-dos; and you’re able to drag today’s to-dos across to tomorrow’s list.
While the app isn’t hugely well known yet, its friendliness and usability has led to endorsements from leading designers such as John Gruber, Jason Santa Maria and Jessica Hische, who calls it “Google Cal’s and Google Task’s better-looking and far more fun sister”.
