I reach out, fingers brushing against the petals. They are the colour bruises, blues and purples so vivid they could be painted, every vein too perfect to be natural. I pick up the neat posy from the pillow, frowning at the spray of flowers and the knotted string around the stems. What on earth has Fyodor been up to? He could be the only culprit. He could have left it on behalf of some debutant, some admirer. Or even from himself. I shudder at the thought.

Nikolai wanders into the room, running a hand through his hair as he glances around. He searches the desk for a few moments before he shoots a look in my direction. 'You alright?'

'I've been left a gift.' I lift the posy for his inspection. 'Or you have. I think we're not paying Fyodor enough if he's smuggling gifts from admirers.'

'I'm afraid it wasn't one of your admirers. I saw them in the garden, they're your favourites.' Nikolai shrugs, looking through the drawer at the desk. 'Hyacinth, no? I thought you might like them.'

I tighten my grasp on the stems, trying to ignore the heat rushing to my face as I watch him search. But the little pleasure of the gesture is edged with suspicion. What has he done now?

“I’m sorry, Father.” “You’re sorry?” A heavy footfall, next to her—she flinched and scrambled back, and Liev stayed where he was, staring down at her. His face was drawn up in a snarl that belonged to a wolf, not a man. “Do you know what you have done?”

Irina would give her heart and soul to hunt a snow bear. The massive, ancient creatures live near the edge of the world, far from where any mortal man may tread. When she finds evidence of one in the woods, she breaks from her family's hunt to chase after it—but spilling a cub's blood across the snow only makes her a murderer.

Then her brother Fedya is stolen from her by a shadow—a stranger in the dusk—and she can't go home without him.

“The price for a life is a life. You will make a fine replacement, I think.”

The palace at the end of the world has stood empty for hundreds of years. Its only living resident, the vindictive Prince of Always Night, plays host to a court of souls within its glowing walls. He's the farthest thing from an arbiter of justice, but when the scales of magic shift in his mother's favor, he must right them as quickly as possible.

The hunter's younger brother plays the part of the bear. The prince plays the part of the witch, offering Irina her solution: If she completes three tasks, he will return Fedya.

If she fails, she will lose him forever.

She was not the hero of this story; she was only Irina Lievna, and Irina Lievna had to find her brother and get home before they both were trapped in this cursed place for eternity.

He felt a little like one of the young mothers that came through the store sometimes, toting an unbalanced toddler and promising a treat if they would stop screeching at the vegetables. It was disconcerting.

“Yes,” Allocen said, “But I’m not. I’ve been doing this a long time. I know it’s easier if we’re friends.”

“We’re not friends,” Danny said instinctively, but he couldn’t muster up the venom to make it sound angry. Without the hate, it just sounded sad.

Pretty

It wasn’t that he didn’t like Zoey—in fact, he really did. She was kinetic, and funny, and really pretty, but she was also open and outgoing and all the things Danny wasn’t, and it didn’t seem fair that it all seemed so easy for her. Right now, she slipped onto Elias’ lap and wrapped an arm around his neck.

“How are my boys?” she asked, ruffling Elias’ hair. He smiled fondly up at her.

Danny wondered what that was like—both to be able to touch him, run hands through his hair without having to think about it, and to have someone touch you so absentmindedly, like it didn’t have to mean anything more than something deep and warm. He told himself he wasn’t jealous of either of them.

1. Which of your characters have some romantic chemistry?

Nikolai and Misha certainly do, it's very soft. Marina and Katya has budding romantic chemistry. Alekks wants romantic chemistry with Erika but they have a lot of stuff to work through.

2. Which of your characters do you think readers will ship?

I think Misha and Nikolai will be the main ship but weirdly enough I get the vibe that somebody will end up shipping Ilsa and Sascha.

3. Which of your characters are slated to be an endgame relationship?

Misha and Nikolai

4. Are there any established relationships in your WIPs? If so, how did they meet?

Art and Hadrien are THE established relationship at the beginning of the story. They met in the gang, not long after Art and Nikolai broke up.

5. What’s your dream love confession scene between your characters?

They've gotten it and it left me broken

1. Which of your characters have some romantic chemistry?

oh gosh, I sure hope Emry & Cal and Eli & Ambrose, otherwise, I’m screwed.

2. Which of your characters do you think readers will ship?

other than the above? you know what, I’m hoping someone ships Georgie and Damir. It’d never work between them in the long run, but they’d have fun.

3. Which of your characters are slated to be an endgame relationship?

lol I’m incapable of my main relationships NOT being endgame, so…EmCal and Elrose

4. Are there any established relationships in your WIPs? If so, how did they meet?

Emry and Cal met through Marko, when Emry was new in town and was looking to make friends.

Ambrose and Eli…well. It’s the focus of the book, but Eli opens a potion shop across the street from Ambrose’s potion shop. Good start, guys, good start.

5. What’s your dream love confession scene between your characters?

honestly? kinda how Ambrose does it. the reserved one shouting his feelings in the street, not caring who else hears or what they think of him.

they're all dumbasses with repressed emotions so. everyone.

→ which of your characters do you think readers will ship?

cadeyrn/maris is a favorite, of course, and one of my rapidly growing favorites is cadwen/branach because those two are a recipe for disaster. other than that, maris is a fmc in a sword and sorcery high fantasy world, i'm sure people will ship her with literally any other named character.

→ which of your characters are slated to be an endgame relationship?

maris/rhys ♥ my murderous twits. and cadeyrn/rhonwen though that's a bit more complicated.

→ are there any established relationships in your wips? if so, how did they meet?

cadeyrn and estel have been traveling together for four years/romantically involved for three at the start of the wip! they met when estel nearly killed him in a royal tournament and his demi ass fell head over heels for her. rhonwen and estel have been romantically involved for seven years at the start of the wip but that's puppy love from when they met as kids and the weight of the expectations they share.

→ what’s your dream love confession scene between your characters?

for me it's when, after rhys poisons maris to keep her from doing anything about the big bad's evil plans, after he's been lying to her for months and is actively the thing she's been fighting against, after he causes the death of a friend and threatens the death of another, he stumbles over a confession of his feelings and she still agrees to marry him on the spot
