that’s it.

“this fucking sucks!” sooin groans out loud before she glares at the horse in the stable next to the one she’s currently sweeping hay out of. “this is your fault.” she states matter of factly before pointing an accusing finger at him. “i could be sleeping right now but you… you just can’t clean up after yourself huh.”

this was no way to spend a saturday morning when she could be down at madam kang’s bakery getting her fair share of discounted pastry goods. instead she was here cleaning up the royal family’s personal horse stable. what. a. joke.

okay, sooin didn’t actually have a problem doing things for the royal family. she served the king and queen after all (maybe she did mind serving the queen but it’s not like she really has a choice when she has to). she had a problem with whoever ratted her out to the grand officer about a small bribe she had taken to scare off a noble from his creepy attempts to court a lady who was tired of saying no. after all, it’s not like what she did was actually bad. she was helping her fellow citizens and protecting them. if anything, she should’ve been rewarded.

but alas, even the grand officer had to give her some form of punishment no matter how amusing he found the situation to be. 

sooin finally leaves the stable to find a wheelbarrow for the hay when she spots the iron nameplate of the horse’s name above the stable. baekgwang. why did that sound so familiar…. and then she remembers the grand officer stating that was the eldest prince’s horse. prince yurye. and her head immediately turns to seokmin who’s working in another stable.

“hey, isn’t that horse right there-” sooin points back to the horse she had been venting to moments before, “your prince’s horse? wouldn’t you prefer cleaning his horse’s stable?”

sooin asks curiously before a sly smile makes its way onto her lips, “or are you kind of tired doing stuff for him? it’s okay, you can tell me i won’t tell anyone.” 

and then another thought strikes her. of all the years that she’s known seokmin, he was never the type to get into trouble. especially for someone as dedicated as he was to his job. what reason could he have for being shoved into cleaning duty with her on a weekend? it was one thing for sooin to be there, it was definitely another for seokmin.

“seokmin…” sooin begins with an interested expression, “say… what did you do to end up with weekend cleaning duty?”
