I sort of binge-listened to The Creeping Man (both parts.)

I finally got down to listening to Sherlock&co.

1.) I really like this new take on he Holmes adaptation. It's different and intersting. Sounds fresh.

2.) Their voices are distinct, but personality wise, Sherlock is quite similar to BBC Sherlock's Sherlock. But not John.

3.) John is so hilariously awkward and I get so much second hand embarrassment listening to him. 🤭 But I quite like this new way of characterising him. He is authoritative when he truly needs to be. But the rest of the time, the intro and outro of his podcast are record so pathetically lmfao. Love this John Watson.

4.) Mariana from Hudson's instead of just Mrs Hudson? I thought her character was going to be based on Mary Morstan from ACD canon (because of her name), but not really. She's a completely different character altogether. And Sherlock keeps calling her Mrs Hudson and she keeps correcting him saying it's Mariana from Hudson's. XD I can't say much on her character because I'm just on The Illustrious Client right now but she sounds likeable.

5.) I love how they chose this story (The Illustrious Client) as their first one in the series of podcasts. I really liked that one in ACD canon too. The plot was quite intriguing and I like this idea a lot.

6.) John always calls him Sherlock but Sherlock calls him Watson sometimes. Many a time, actually. What's that about?

kageyama is the type of person who falls in love and starts practicing casual intimacy with you, but he never establishes the fact that the two of you are in a relationship. he just assumes that you two are, and he figures that if you’re receptive to his actions, then obviously you must also agree that you two are dating. it’s why he’s so confused on your confusion when he’s texting you, and in the middle of casual conversation, he just asks “oh by the way, did you eat today?” it makes you pause because that was not what the conversation was about at all. lately, kageyama doesn’t treat you like a friend with benefits. when you got locked out of your second floor apartment, he’s the one you called to break into it; no situationship who doesn’t care about you would commit breaking and entering in broad daylight, especially since you definitely weren’t any help. and he didn’t even get mad at you when after he did manage to break in, you remembered you left your key in your back pocket. instead, he was more upset over the fact that you don’t lock your windows (he proceeds to lock them for you; every time he comes over, he checks to make sure they stay locked for your safety. if he can scale the building, some desperate creep can too). he blows on your food to cool it down when you get too excited to eat. he keeps your preferred shampoo and conditioner in a value size bottle inside of his shower for when you spend the night. add all of this along with his random question of did you eat today, it’s no wonder why you reply back “kageyama, what are we?”

“we’re dating.”

well, you might as well be. the next time you see him in person, you tell him that he should at least ask about these things first. so he does formally ask you to be his girlfriend, and his first request as your official boyfriend is for you to change his contact name to tobio, not kageyama. the heart you add after it makes the cutest blush appear on your boyfriend’s cheeks.

Something I really like about Sherlock & Co. which pissed me off about BBC Sherlock is the way the writers approach Sherlock's social skills. In BBC Sherlock, he's constantly being purposely rude to people, berating them for not being smart enough or not understanding how all the clues would fit together in a case. He is not socially unaware enough to not understand the effects of his own words, and he understands that he is considered rude most of the time. Sometimes he's a downright asshole for no reason. It's usually played off for laughs, and I didn't mind it the first watch. But as I rewatched a few times, I begun to notice the issues with it.

With Sherlock & Co, however, Sherlock's social deficit is much more realistic. He knows how to mask, he knows how to pretend to be quote on quote 'normal,' but it's terribly exhausting for him. He sometimes masks when he's trying to get information during a case, and even when talking to John's mother. (And afterwards he comments on how tiring that was.) Although it was adorable how badly he wanted to make a good impression. When he does manage to miss a social cue he can come off as rude, but definitely not on purpose. He does not berate John or Mariana for not being clever enough. He is relatively polite to his clients, or he does the best he can. (Unlike BBC Sherlock who often dismisses cases for being too boring or insulting them outright.)
