my hot take about descendants is that NONE of the core four were ready for a relationship until maybe like, the third movie (rant in tags)
#they were still adjusting to living life without struggling to survive#a girl should not be jumping into a relationship the same week she just tried her first piece of non-rotten food lol#thats not to say I don't like the canon ships#but mal married literally the FIRST man she met in auradon. at 18.#and even as far as in descendants 2 we see them still struggling to adjust in different ways (mainly mal)#in d3 they seem to have fully assimilated into life in Auradon (as much as a VK can anyway)#so it makes sense for them to THEN seek out relationships if that's what they want.#but disney ofc wanted to act like romantic love just automatically fixes a person's problems ig?? as if a relationship wouldn't just be#added stress given the position the VKs were in in d1#not to mention dating just like. wasnt a thing on the isle (mal even says this)#and I get that the kids are craving to be loved because their parents didn't gaf about them. But I wish the first movie focused more on the#finding that love in each other than romantically with outside people. a sort of “they had love in them all along” moment.#and then this fandom loves to argue about whether Jarlos/Janelos was 'rushed'. at least Carlos (and Jay +lonnie) waited a few months before#throwing themselves into the dating scene. Poor evie had her heart broken within like 3 days of being in Auradon. no wonder she was willing#to help steal the wand lol.#Anyway to wrap up this rant I didn't even mean to go on#I just think that kids who have spent the first 14-16 years of their lives fighting to survive and being put through continuous trauma on a#daily basis don't need dating right away. they need THERAPY.#if anyone here has seen stranger things its kinda an El and Mike situation were its like. the girl grew up in a lab and fell for the first#boy in regular society who was kinda nice to her lol. thats how I view Mal and Ben#same with doug and evie. he was nicer than chad but he still fell for her for her looks and she still fell for him because he was the first#guy in auradon to be genuinely interested in her. also evie had a whole “I dont need a prince” arc and ended up with a man anyway?#my problem with janelos was always that Carlos never quite worked out his mommy issues or his anxiety. I feel like he'd be afraid of hurtin#her even though that boy wouldn't hurt a fly. and we see Jane get pretty stressed out herself- have you ever been in a relationship where#both of you have anxiety? cause it either goes really well (you help keep each other calm) or REALLY terribly (you make each other spiral)#I actually really liked Lonnie and Jay (though I feel like it would've had a bigger payoff if she was in d3. not sure why she wasn't but I#wont dunk on that because it couldve been smth to do with her actress). I think Lonnie is someone who can 'handle' Jay well and match his#energy. And I like the idea of Jay finding someone he's loyal to after being commitment-phobic for 1 1/2 movies and the whole first book lo#and ofc I have to throw this in here: any auradon kid the VKs get with is never going to grasp even half of what they went through.#this doesnt mean they can't try to understand and be empathetic. but it will always cast a shadow on VK/AK relationships.

I know it may not be the most popular of opinions, but for me the "hard reset" and lack of content would actually be the *appeal* of a Destiny 3. Give us a brand new major story arc, give us new characters (the old could feature but focus attention on new ones), have us create an entirely new Guardian--total reset. (They could have new races, too--playable Hive Guardians! Okay yes I just wanna have a playable Eliksni Guardian that would be so fun). Current D2 content is... Honestly kind of overwhelming. Sometimes. Fresh slate with less content that the build back up would appeal to me a lot. I know they're not interested in doing so at this time, and I respect their preference to keep supporting D2 instead (especially given how many players WOULD throw a fit over the hard reset and lack of content), but I've definitely put in a lot of thought to what a D3 would mean and the big "negatives" are huge draws for me. (Especially if they kept the D1 and D2 servers online so people would have all that content at the ready to go back and play)
I totally understand that! The concept of there being D3 is really interesting and I think it's really neat to talk about possibilities!
There's definitely some appeal in this for me as well, but I think that unfortunately most of the other issues would vastly overshadow this feeling of getting to start fresh. I'm not too bothered with a lack of content overall but I don't think a lot of people truly understand how much of a lack it would be. We're so used to so much stuff to the point of it being overwhelming, but a full restart would be quite the shock.
I think some middle ground would be nice, but even when they did that (in BL, after initial vaulting), people were.... very mad. A lot of people were fine as well, and it's hard to judge because of the very vocal fans and content creators, but to this day people are still seething about how "bad" BL was because of all the stuff that was removed, despite the fact that a lot of stuff was also added.
If you've not been there during release of D1 and D2, it's hard to really imagine what the game looked like and played like, but these are completely unimaginable differences. I can't speak for D1, but vanilla D2 in comparison with even just a year after is an entirely different game. Basically, it would be a gigantic risk to do this, on top of splitting the community, and hope that maybe this time around people will accept a lack of content with the promise that in a few years there will be more. On paper it sounds reasonable, because it is, but unfortunately gamers aren't reasonable. We're currently witnessing this as well with people absolutely losing their minds about the possibility that for the next year or two or whatever we'll have smaller updates. This is very strange coming from these people because if we truly want D3 and for it to launch better than vanilla D1 and vanilla D2, then we'd have to let the devs work on that for years and not be occupied making constant huge updates for D2. More under:
Also! I know we would all love other playable races and that's definitely a big dream, but it will never happen as long as there's pvp in the game. Because of the hitboxes in pvp. As in, if they made playable Eliksni and Hive, they would be bigger than normal Guardians and it would not be possible to integrate them into pvp because of the natural disadvantage of having a bigger hitbox. Maybe if they did it in a way that genuinely just did not allow them into pvp modes, but that would be strange. The hitbox issue would also be a problem elsewhere too, even in pve. This is the most basic problem with this idea and a very difficult one to solve when the game is a first person shooter at its core. Other playable characters would be such a cool thing in Destiny though.
In a way, a lot of what we want can be done in the current game if the devs had time to work on a lot of fundamental changes and updates to the base game. It's just really difficult to do. They would probably need a dedicated year or more to do this, during which we wouldn't be able to get many updates. And this is less requirements than making a new game from scratch and risk a lot in the process.
I'm also wondering if both D1 and D2 could be kept around if they added a D3 as well. I feel like one of the old games would probably be shut down. This is definitely not possible with the reduced workforce, so unless they expand the studio again in the future, I don't think, realistically, we could get any of the positives with D3.
It's a discussion worth having for sure. Unfortunately it's dominated by the weird gamer bros and I genuinely don't think they understand anything about video games. There's this idea that "D3 would fix everything" and I simply don't understand what they're talking about because the same people are also the ones crying about content droughts, sunsetting, hit-and-miss features and activities and so on. And launching a brand new game would contain absolutely everything these people complain about every day. I've seen them also saying stuff like "I'd be okay with D3 if they don't make us repeat collecting everything again." And like. That's exactly what will happen. Do they think items will just be in their vault? No, we'll have missions again to re-earn the same exotics for the 5th time, just spaced out by years and then they'll be mad about how nothing new is being made and they're just reusing assets or whatever.
They could always just do a complete and total fresh start: nothing old is ever returned. No armour, no weapons, nothing. But people underestimate how much they'd miss their old builds and old options, and how new ones might end up not clicking with them all that much, but this time they wouldn't have anything old to fall back to. You know when a new weapon or exotic armour releases and they're brand new concepts? And they end up not really being something you connect to? You try it out, go "eh" and return to your old stuff? Imagine that but without the ability to go back to the old stuff. The idea of it is is exciting, but in execution it doesn't really work most of the time.
There's a lot of interesting angles when considering a potential new game, but I feel like at the end of the day, it's too big of an endeavour with a lot of very real risks that makes the whole thing not worth the effort. If anything, to make D3 into this perfect dream game right from the start, they would 100% need to just work on that for the next 5 years and we'd have to accept even fewer updates (if any) to D2 in the meantime. Otherwise we'll be in the same situation as with D2 launch and I know a lot of people don't remember or weren't there, but vanilla D2 was actually for real a time when Destiny almost died.
It's definitely something cool to speculate about, I just wish the weird gamers out there weren't completely hijacking this option while also doing everything in their power to tell devs that they have zero patience to wait for a good product, and that they can't survive 3 days without new content. Because that's just reinforcing the inherent risks with making a new game, on top of all the other risks involved and the potential that people will just not be willing to move away from what they've been collecting for years.

So I just watched rise of red and really, I don't see anything happened, and what prank are they talking about???? 3/4 of the cast are just useless as Aladdin and Jasmine doesn't serve no purpose in the movie and I didn't see qoh hearts apologized to her daughter for abusing her for all those years....why just why????
Its funny we had an issue with D3 and not using a large chunk of their cast that well...when in comparison to Rise of Red, it at least did SOMETHING with the characters, while Rise of Red was out here having literal character introduction the song with characters who overall, don't do anything in the film. Fairy Godmother? She MAYBE has a hint at not being good at magic yet arc, but she don't do anything in film. Jasmine and Aladdin? They that couple from school everyone found cringe and that's all they are, not even being named in present day or the boy they have with them, you just have to assume its them and...I guess make up a name for the boy who you have to assume is their son. Rapunzel isn't named either actually in the past, you just know its her as she stands out with her rainbow hair and she's just there. Charming is pretty fucking useless both past and present, he's just there- though he at least had the most emotional scene when being told Cinderella is dead in present.
Uliana is the only villain who does ANYTHING really, the other villains feel like they just there to be there really. Hades' I will admit I found funny for not giving much of a shit at times, but he's pretty useless, same for Maleficent. Seriously, she's out here shaming Mal in D1 for not doing more at sixteen in comparison to Maleficent, but girl wasn't doing much as a teen, if at all. Generally think she and Hades were just there to nod at Mal lmao. Hook is also just, useless, closest stuff he does is I guess act a ltitle flirty and get his boots stolen at the end. And don't get me started on the king of being useless, aka Morgie- my guy couldn't even suggest ANYTHING in Perfect Revenge, at least the other three could suggest making Bridget walk a plank or pricking her with thorns or burning her to a crisp, all Morgie did was agree with Hades'. He also proved to be the most useless look out in the finale scene.
Even in the main cast you got a character who the writers don't do much with, aka Cinderella/Ella- she literally dies in present briefly after refusing to kneel to QOH (again shout out to Red for joining in on that setencing, film doesn't seem to remember that one to at least show Red feeling guilty....because fuck character development) and in the past, she's just there to a, support Bridget and b, shame Chloe, the films favorite hobby. Her abuse via her stepmother is literally introduced and...that's it. Nothing done at all. You literally could have replaced the Charming family in this film with any other heroes and their family.
And like, I literally don't know what the fuck they were doing with the prank, because how the fuck did they pull it off in the first timeline if the book does THAT to people with evil intentions??? Was it a different prank in first timeline or- this prank plot just left way too many questions, really. And people can call me a bitch but like, making QOH evil over a prank is just the most pathetic motive for a villain yet. They say people laughed at her for it but let's be real, school would be laughing at someone else the next week. There had to be more to what turned her evil then just, "she ate a cupcake that turned her ugly."
And the ending with not even addressing Queen of Hearts having been a shitty mother....just...way to join D3 in being so shit at addressing abuse. Like, they have Red literally confirm how shit her mom is. We saw it on screen even at the start of the film. Yet, just like Ella and her step family's abuse, it's dropped eventually and not addressed. Film just acts like since she's good now with the prank removed from timeline, everything is good now. QOH is not made to face what she did to Red. It's just forgotten and that's it. Hell, the way the film just waved off all the abuse with, "She wasn't always like that."/"An incident pissed her off.", is just such shitty excuses for abuse, I swear.
Why is just an accurate reaction to even watching this film. I mean, we all know the why is because they wanted to milk this dead franchise. But the film is still just such a why even with that answer in mind.
#disney descendants#descendants#descendants the rise of red#the rise of red#ror spoilers#descendants spoilers#also like can we question HOW chloe doesnt know about her moms step-family#like she would realistically know man#so how the fuck does she not know

The Mal and Audrey swap AU is so interesting, I have so, SO many questions about it. Does Mal know she's actually Maleficent's daughter? If not, how does she handle the revelation? How will everyone else handle it? Will she actually go along with her bio-mom's evil plan? How does Mal and everyone else, including the VKs, feel about and treat Audrey? Do they think Audrey is Maleficent's daughter? If so, does Audrey correct them? Even though Audrey knows she's not Maleficent's daughter, does she know she's Aurora's daughter? If not, how will she find out the truth? How is everyone going to react when they find our Audrey is Aurora's daughter? Will finding her real mom be what pushes Audrey to stop Maleficent's evil plan, or will it be something else? Is Mal gonna change her awful ways? If so, will she have a similar arc to canon Audrey (losing her social status to Audrey, becoming a villain, getting defeated and repenting) or will it be different? Sorry, I know that's a ton of questions, I just gotta know how all this plays out, especially how both Mal and Audrey will develop as characters and how the events of D2 and D3 will be affected, since Ben will still wind up with Mal despite the role swap
Woof, that is a lot of questions XD, but I don’t mind. I’ll go over some of the basics for you:
1.) Audrey knows she’s not Maleficent’s daughter because Maleficent told her so (she has more dignity than raising the child of her greatest enemies as her own). Audrey doesn’t know where she comes from, as far as she knows her birth parents are long gone and Maleficent ‘saved’ her from dying as a baby. She has no clue she’s actually Aurora and Phillip’s daughter. She doesn’t even know her full name, which is why she goes by Auds or A. However, she is very aware that Maleficent’s actual daughter is in Auradon somewhere, just not exactly where she is/who she was raised by.
2.) Mallory doesn’t know either. This is due to a very strong glamor spell Maleficent cast when the swap was made. It’s so strong that no one questions why Mal doesn’t look anything like her parents, and keeps her from wondering about it too much. She’s happy with her life and has no reason to question it. Her magic was explained away as a weird side-effect of Aurora’s time in the enchanted sleep.
3.) Audrey is basically an observer in D1’s main plot, a bit like a background character. On the Isle of the Lost she is a nobody and is treated as such. She’s a servant to Maleficent and bullied by the other VK’s. She takes orders without question, stays out of other people’s way, has no allies or friends of her own, and doesn’t interfere with Maleficent’s plans unless specifically told to do so.
When she gets sent to Auradon, for all intents and purposes she is Maleficent’s daughter (she would never say otherwise). She’s there to deliver Maleficent’s spellbook to Mallory, her one order, while the other VK’s are tasked with turning her evil. The story progresses similarly to canon, VK’s trying to get to the wand, spelling Ben with a cookie to try and fix his and Mal’s relationship, ect. ect. but Audrey is a passive observer to the entire thing, with her own little story on the side where she starts to make some friends (or rather, Jane and Lonnie start trying to be friends with her) and even has a romance with Mr. Chad Charming (I’m a Chaudrey shipper, sue me!)
4.) The glamor begins to wear off once Auds and Mal are in the same place for long enough, which is when people start to figure out something’s up. Queen Leah at Family Day really breaks things open, as her lack of time in the glamor made seeing Mal as an untrue heir easier to accept (she and Mal still don’t get along). Leah recognizes Audrey at family day, which spooks literally everyone and sends everything into confusion.
5.) I’m not spoiling endings or full realizations yet (mostly cause I haven’t decided what I want yet)
🥲 I hope this helps with some of your questions!

choose violence 💖🔥 1 8 9 10 12 and 13
1] the character everyone gets wrong
BEN BEN BEN BEN BEN - he's not stupid or naive!!! He's compassionate and kind!!!! He did not tell Mal to change or act like he wanted her to change at all!!!!!!
8] Common fandom opinion everyone is wrong about
I don't interact with the larger fandom enough to really... know what opinions are popular or not. But one I have seen circulated is that "Ben and Audrey were in an arranged marriage" uhhh no???? They were not???? They were just boyfriend and girlfriend. Yeah it sucks that Audrey's grandmother put so much pressure on Audrey's status and stuff but that is still not the same as an arranged marriage and he was free to end it.
There's also someone who thinks that Audrey cheated on Ben... because she kissed Chad at the tourney game. After Ben sang a whole love song to Mal and it was pretty damn clear the relationship was over, hence why Audrey immediately pivoted to Chad.
9] worst part of canon
How all the male characters of Descendants get disregarded completely for the sake of female character arcs. Not just Ben even, but also Jay, Carlos, Harry and Gil didn't even have arcs, they turned Doug into a joke, Chad with Audrey... I could go on and on.
10] worst part of fanon
Everyone being like "the Isle has to be an abusive, violent sh*thole" as if these are real-life villains and not obviously cartoony fantasy villains. Like yeah I get the idea. It's fun to explore in fics. But so many people treat it like it's fact????
Also the idea that Auradon was united by force and not diplomacy. Like people really really want it to be a dystopia for some reason (and ignore the literal meaning of "dystopia" in the process.) Like I get that as an older audience we're all a little more disenchanted and jaded with the state of the world than the 12-16 year olds this franchise is meant for, but come on.
This is kinda why I don't interact with a large majority of the fandom, to be honest. I learned fast that I'm not interested in the aspects that most of the fandom are attached to.
12] the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
I'm gonna be honest, I think the fandom is too mean to Chad. There's such a vast difference between his D1 characterization and his D2-D3 attitude that something very clearly went sidewise in the writing room.
D1 Chad had a pretty interesting arc of "Auradon kid raised good but still awful" as a direct parallel to the Isle kids arcs of "Isle kid raised evil but good... feels better?"
D2-D3 Chad is like... what happened. This is not the same guy from the first movie.
(Also people acting like he's too dumb to have made it into college like said in D4... sports scholarships exist. Maybe he found his niche interest and really does well with it. There's a thousand possibilities and I really hate that people dismissed it with "he's too dumb for that." That phrase could be anything from generally dismissive to outright ableist - in my personal view, I doubt anyone meant that - and I just don't like it.)
13] Worst blorbofication
Controversial opinion: people really just reduced Harry's character to being Uma's violent right-hand guy, which I think does a major disservice to his character. Don't get me wrong, I love Huma very much, but I love it with dimensions of "why does Harry follow her? What drives his loyalty? Could he have commanded a crew on his own? How does his family life affect his home on the ship and with his crew?"
~~~
Anyways. Choose violence fandom asks!
NARUTO DATABOOK STAT COMPARISON - INTELLIGENCE
With the databooks' occasional weirdness there's sometimes debate with if scores are meant to just be in comparison to a characters other abilities, or on a general scale, but I thought it was interesting to see where it'd put everyone. D1/D2/D3 shows stats that change through databooks; Databook 4 has different ones, so there's not many late arc characters
Apparently F-S rankings are sometimes used in Japanese universities with S for above 90%, F for anything below 49%, and A-B-C-D for 10% each in between. It's more of an overlay, but I thought the way it divied up skill tiers was interesting. I’ll be going through all stats, starting with intelligence
If used comparatively, Sakura's described as book smart from the beginning of Act 1, which would put 'brainy' characters at a 3.5+, which is also the most common point for battle strategy to take on a ninjutsu nerd vibe that draws on jutsu mechanics and general science (eg Shippuden Sasuke and Kisame, or Chunin Exams Shino). However, there's strategic moments and less smart decisions right up and down the list
S TIER 5 - Chiyo, Hiruzen, Itachi, Kabuto, Orochimaru, Sasori, Shikamaru, Tsunade | Kakashi (D2/D3), 4.5 - Dan, Deidara, Ebisu, Kakuzu, Jiraiya, Shizune, Yamato | Asuma (D2/D3), Iruka (D2/D3), Kakashi (D1)
A TIER 4 - Haku, Ibiki, Kidoumaru, Kurenai, Rin, Yashamaru | Asuma (D1), Gaara (D3), Iruka (D1), Sakura (D2/D3), Shino (D4), Temari (D3)
( Reposting from r/Doom) Perhaps a big reason why anyone would want a campaign with an ARC soldier
One reason could be just exploring a gameplay formula like Eternal's with new ideas for weapons, enemies, stuff since i even wrote a bunch of ideas i think could work if there's an expansion etc.
But another might be because of Doom's premise and how it changed since 2016.
It went from "UAC soldier that has to clean up the mess they started" to now there being stuff about the Sentinels.
It's why i compare Doom to Planet of the Apes in a sense the setting changed a bit more than most people realize but the new stuff is good while D3/Tim Burton's Apes movie are both seen as "technically closer to the OG premise but not as liked".
Doom as a series can work with changes like these because:
It's a setting that wasn't always taken seriously.
The old games are still getting modded to this day and with lots of good stuff.
The new stuff is good.
But it's also said the Sentinels are inspired by medieval stuff in Army of Darkness, when at the same time, that could've lead to Doomguy go back in time to medieval Europe if things were different.
I have some theories on why the Night Sentinel exist.
Could've been for Quake
Specially since Quake always had knights and the Ranger looks like a barbarian viking.
But there's always cases of Doom and Quake overlapping and how one was always viewed as the other "but in 3D".
A response/overcorrection to the cancelled Doom 4
The cancelled Doom 4 would've been about a "resistance" army on Earth fighting demons and from what you see in concept art and footage, it looks a bit "unexciting" for a supposed heavy metal series.
So maybe the idea of tech knights with energy swords was done to make Doom "more badass" because the alternative seemed boring.
When at the same time, they could've always thought of a buff dude out of the UAC simply being cool and make Earth locations take notes from Build Engine games.
It seems like what people expected out of a modern "Hell on Earth" could be seen in fanart and mods, but that leads to another point
Things that could've been part of Doom as a series are instead part of its "fanon"
You could say Doom fans were already "expanding the Doomverse" specially the classic version when looking at some fanart, some attempts at "remasters" and all those Realm667 assets.
People theorize that id themselves take inspiration from mods but put ideas like a fire themed Baron under a new art style and lore.
Not the same as exploring what could be more of the classic art style or formula (otherwise, maybe Romero could've been allowed to share more stuff).
This means The Dark Ages being Sentinel focused means they won't show stuff like Doomguy having a flashback to beating up his superior like it's mentioned in D1's manual: That would require forgetting what you set up for UAC in 2016 and imagine exactly what could suit the aesthetic of D1. Otherwise, look at the D2 skin and compare it to the D2 box art. Even the QC armor based off classic Doom doesn't seem that different, despite using the box art as a ref instead of Adrian's model.
Again, this can be justified with the notion that "Doom's setting is a mess lol" but it also depends on where it comes from, when the reboot games made by people not involved in the originals are the ones focusing on lore and worldbuilding.
Lots of Doom fan content feels like an alt timeline where the series stayed a bit more consistent and certain wishes or ideas are realized.
Even the D64 official release might owe its existence to fan ports, since the lead dev of a popular fan port worked on the official one.
But it's also not like we'll have any of Andrew Hulshult's remixes of classic Doom songs being owned by id.
The versatility of Doom's premise
I always view Doom's premise as a blank canvas where you can add a lot as long as it's "Doomy enough", hence why i think a lore could limit certain opportunities that could be cool.
In general, 2016 and Eternal introduced ideas that could've been done differently in a new game or something.
It's also why it's cool to look at cut content or concept art: As in, these ideas deserve to be revisited and be used in something.
It's also worth noting how Doom went through different looks, leading to questions like "what if Sentinels or Mayks were in other games but different?".
UAC wasn't always "gray base on orange Mars" since you used to have a "terraformed" Phobos with blue carpets and a weird low tech aesthetic.
And Hell had a variety of looks and themes, somehow they weren't really explored later on.
For a series with a seemingly limited setting, the idea of reinterpretating something seems fun and it's even seen in some fan works like fanmade redesigns.
Sometimes, you even wonder what it'd be if the Sentinels didn't exist: Would you make the Slayer like a UAC super soldier program? Would you just have everything be either weird UAC tech or demonic artifacts? Would Marauders be medieval knights from Earth? Because if any of those happened, i can't imagine someone going "what if there was a world of knights with tech and cool mechs?" due to everyone getting used to UAC and Hell in that scenario.
But this is also why i think it's cool if each setting/theme has their version of an object or item: We even see a Sentinel take on the Plasma Rifle, so imagine their take on medikits.
(also why people didn't like Eternal having glowy videogame pickups, when the life pickup could've been some artifact)
I guess people would like an ARC soldier campaign just to balance things out: If we can pilot a mech dragon, we could've piloted a UAC military helicopter.
But you need to make that seem cool and fun.
Speaking of "reinterpretations", i even think of "alternate lores".
What if the Sentinels existed in Earth's medieval ages and were forgotten by time until UAC archeologists discovered their demons?
What if they were descendents of some of Earth's survivors who colonized a planet similar to Earth and suddenly developed better tech and went with a medieval inspired culture?
What if Doomguy was still a UAC guy but the Doomslayer is a transformation/form he has where his UAC tech/armor is turned into Sentinel stuff and he gets more powerfull even with some limits like time?
Maybe these ideas are less cool but seem like examples to what can make Doom interesting.
I always thought different Doom's could coexist: At some point, have a Slayer type game and a different kind of Doom both being made, even if one is a spin-off.
Are there any cool deleted TMD scenes that you wish had been included in the movie?
EVERYTHING IN THIS GIFSET. esp the connie/guy helmet kiss. also!! other stuff under a cut because i ramble
other than the (confirmed) deleted scenes, i would’ve liked to see some of the storylines that were a thing in the earlier drafts of the scripts. like, charlie’s blatant abandonment issues because of his dad (and how he compared bombay to him). more of fulton’s identity crisis! they hinted at it in d3, but it didn’t go anywhere beyond “who am i now (without portman here)?” and thinking he isn't good enough. they should’ve stuck to the original draft where he scored the final goal instead of goldberg tbh. esp because goldberg didn’t do shit to earn it other than try to sabotage his teammate...
also connie & julie bonding in d2! we were robbed. and i’ve mentioned before how adam and julie were romantically involved – i don’t necessarily want to see that, but i would’ve loved to see the scenes of them talking about their mutual love of hockey and where she helps take care of his wrist. i feel like julie kind of got fucked over in terms of screentime. i understand not wanting to showcase her talents until the very end, but she should’ve had more focus (like goldberg in d3, who - despite not being the starter - got a shit load of screen time. even tho his character development was trash). also, more about russ’ fears about losing his scholarship. that was an entire arc in the OG d3 script. as was linda’s activism!! i get it, it’s (not even) a two-hour movie and they didn’t have time. but a lot of storylines in d3 were “started” only to never be brought up again… such a waste imo.
AND, because i am nothing if not predictable, i really would’ve loved to see all of jesse’s scenes they cut out of the OG d2 script. the one where he calls out a security guard for racial profiling, or the one where he fires back at stahl by speaking icelandic lmao. imagine learning another language just to talk trash… he did that! ofc would’ve loved to see even more of charlie & jesse’s ~coparenting. it was really them versus bombay in the OG script. i do think d2 (the movie) subtly hints at it but now knowing that there was more, i wish we could've seen it!
the OG d1 script that's available to read (titled 'bombay') is too different from the actual d1 movie so i can't really think of scenes there that would still make sense to include with the characters we know. tho i do like that one of the few things they kept in is the fact that jesse and banks were rivals. written in the stars since day one!!! but i digress.
Day 4: Fantasy / Hybrids / Possessive (TetsuKiri)
Tetsutetsu is sure he’s about to die.
The beginning of the day had been promising.
He awoke in his den, a cave on the side of a high mountain, moving to the entrance. The shining sun felt good on his scales, glittering silver dotted his temples, each shoulder and arms. He spread his wings wide, stretching his arms with a yawn.
“Leaving already?” A lazy voice speaks, a set of claws scratching lightly against his back.
He smiles as he turns, gaze warm, taking in the sight of his friend and potential mate, Eijiro. The omega is beautiful, scales of ebony and ruby shine with every kiss from the sun, braided ginger hair falling over one shoulder, loose strands framing puffed up cheeks. Tetsu feels his heart melt at pouty lips, grabbing the questioning hand into his own, kissing the knuckles.
He rumbles a deep croon. “Time to feed my needy omega.”
The pout turns into a coy smile, the omega’s chest rumbling in return, purring loud. “Strong alpha. Hurry back for me?”
“I’ll have to,” Tetsu teases. “My omega has a healthy appetite.”
Eijiro lets out an overly dramatic, fake gasp. “I’m insulted! And after I made you a perfect nest.”
Tetsu laughs and ducks down to press a kiss against an unguarded temple. Quickly he turns and takes off the cliffside, wings spread out to guide him. Elation buzzes under his skin, a sappy grin slapped across his lips.
Their courtship may be new, but their friendship wasn’t. He’d known Eijiro since they were hatchlings, bright-eyed and adventurous, explored surrounding forest land together when they were old enough to fly on their own. Tetsu’s childhood was spent chasing tails and swimming in rivers with Eijiro, hot summers climbing trees, in the spring they’d nap in the meadows.
Time had changed that relationship into shy kisses and scent marking. They were taking things slow, almost traditional. Dragon hybrids mated for life and sometimes it took a full century for a pair to bond. A week ago Eijiro had felt comfortable enough to nest in Tetsu’s den, curling up together after stargazing.
The alpha felt pride well up in his chest. Now that he’d shown he could find a suitable den, he was determined to show he could provide for his potential mate and future pups.
Arcing down towards the grasslands, he knew his best bet would be tracking down prey near the riverbends. The heat of the sun did nothing to slow him down, landing by the treeline. The grass tickled the soft underside of clawed feet as he prowled, slitted pupils contracting as he swept his gaze back and forth. Movement caught his eye, something brown and furred. Tetsu assumes it's an elk, an impressive prize he could show off to his courted.
He crouches, tucking his tail and wings close to his body, coiling like a cobra about to strike.
He leaps, snarling with razor teeth, tackling the creature to the ground. Claws rip at the fur, but underneath isn’t bone and sinew, it’s hollowed wood and rope. His confusion has him spitting out fur, scrambling back. It’s too late, a net is thrown over his head, suddenly pulled tight against his body. His limbs, tail and wings are pinned, wiggling uselessly.
“We got one boys!” A voice yells, hooting and hollering with triumph.
A deep growl rips through his throat, teeth bared and snarling. Six humans surround him, matching sick grins watch him struggle with the net. They poke him with a stick, laughing when he tries to bite them through the rope.
“This one’s a fighter!”
“Look at him, he’s an alpha. We already got plenty of those,” huffs another.
Tetsu’s eyes narrow in suspicion. There’s been rumors, talk of hunters looking for rare prey, an eye on hybrids. He thinks of his mate curled up in their nest, waiting for him.
His struggling renews, tail whipping as best it can. The rope is tugged tighter, dragging him across the dirt. His claws desperately dig into the ground for purchase, wanting to fight back in some way.
“Could skin him for his scales,” drawls another, mouth a sneer. “And his horns could fetch us a good price in the cities.”
Tetsu gasps in horror! Not his horns, sharp and long, curved above his ears, an alpha dragon’s manly mate attractor!
“Bad humans,” he growls, legs kicking, tangling himself more. “Let me out of this thing!”
His voice gets deeper, commanding, but humans don’t play by the rules of alphas and omegas. They laugh and jeer, and poke him some more.
“Think he’s got an omega around?”
That has him snapping his teeth, thoughts filled with protect omega and protect mate. His stomach sours at the thought of them taking his Ei, every horror story of hybrid mills crossing his mind.
“No!” He roars. “Stay away from my mate!”
At the same time another roar rings out, a shadow swooping over them all, then a body lands a few feet from their little crowd. Tetsu’s heart clenches, familiar red scales glimmer under the harsh shine of the sun, Ei unfolds from a crouch to his full height. An intimidating gaze takes in the scene, molten red glares with the ferocity of an erupting volcano.
“Fuck,” breathes one of the men,” he’s beautiful.”
“We take ‘em both,” hollers another in excitement. “We eatin’ good for a month wit’ a beauty like him!”
Ei rolls his shoulders, then plants his feet, roaring out a shrill warning.
“Mine!” A possessive voice barks. “My alpha, mine, mine, mine!”
When one of the humans lurches forward with lasso in hand, Eijiro lashes out without hesitation. Claws sink into vulnerable flesh, an outcry of pain followed by the strong scent of blood. Two more converge, a long red tail slaps both to the ground, Eijiro hurling himself into one of the men holding the ropes. Tetsu’s heart pounds with the need to do something, to protect his future mate.
With only one man holding him down, the net isn’t as tight. The alpha uses his strength to push himself onto his feet, yanking at the net until the last human has fallen onto his face, eating the dirt. It gives him the time and loosened rope needed to free himself, throwing the damned obstacle onto the ground with a snarl.
“Ei,” he howls, barreling into one of the men that’s been knocked down. He knocks that one unconscious with a punch, jumping on the second. “Mate, omega, safe. Go back to the den, be safe.”
He should’ve known it was useless to demand anything. Eijiro is having too much fun ripping into a man’s chest, thick diagonal lines cutting opposing clothes to ribbons.
Eventually the smarter men run away, dragging their unconscious and bleeding friends away with pleas for mercy. They leave behind their silly fake elk, Tetsu kicks the thing.
“Ei,” he croons, arms open.
Eijiro drops the aggressive stance, jumping into the alpha’s embrace. Possessive hands run through silver hair, petting around strong shoulders, lips pressing desperate kisses all over Tetsu’s relieved face.
“They can’t take you,” the omega whines.
A deeper croon vibrates from Tetsu’s chest, trying to soothe. “Easy, omega. I’m here, you defended me. Strong, so strong, perfect mate.”
Ei chirps, nuzzling their cheeks together affectionately. The alpha should be angry with himself for falling into the trap so easily. He can’t when he knows his equal saved him, proving that they were made for each other.
“Hunt together?” Eijiro questions, smiling sheepishly when his stomach rumbles.
Tetsu laughs heartily, agitation and adrenaline smoothed over at the sight of his cute omega. “Anything for you.”
Honest thoughts on Lonnie?
genuinely i think that lonnie is one of the best characters in descendants, with some of the most potential to be expanded upon. i think she's really cool w how she gives the vks the benefit of the doubt straight from the beginning just out of the genuine goodness of her heart, smth really only ben does otherwise, but she also isn't condescending like ben can kind of be initially, like she doesn't really seem to think there's anything wrong with the vks. the other characters who are like vk allies from the start (ben and doug) have a vested interest in bettering them (which isn't unfounded lol), but lonnie seems to just enjoy them as people rather than focusing on this idea that her peers are broken just bc they were raised under different circumstances. she really passes no judgement. and although its a moment of naivety, i like how she assumed that their parents were normal with the "even villains love their kids" line. it reflects how she doesn't see them as different. idk how i feel about the post-family day situation. i think she should have stuck up for them, she seemed strong enough, but i guess she just didn't really feel close enough to them to do so? not while doug and jane, who were actually close to them, weren't. as well, her, doug and jane are all non-royals so i always presumed there is a social dynamic there where they are at the bottom of the totem pole at this school full of royals, that at this point lonnie hasn't fully challenged (which we know since she doesnt try to get on the roar team until the next year), so ig she just isn't there yet in her development.
and in d2, i just think she slays :) i like her plotline and how it supports and works with jay's arc (i love jay's arc, so subtle but effects for those who get it iykwim). a good, simple lesson, and a nice expansion of her character to see her fill this role. and like i said, it shows development from d1 where she went with the flow of the social dynamic put onto her as non-royal girl, and here she challenges them, encouraging jay to do the same, which is soooo important. i wish she had been in d3, but idk what she really would have done? there's a lot in d3 that i would change before that, so i guess it's not the worst part. i'd really have loved to see her dressed up for jane's party.
anyway, yea. i just think shes neat :) a good character, really fun.
Can you rank all the Ducks? Not on playing, but on personal preference?
hi!!!!!!!!! i love this question <3
charlie conway <3333 love of my life chaotic bisexual with bpd. there is SO much i can say about how much i love and adore charlie, from his writing to jjax's a+ portryal, but charlie is so so special to me for many many reasons. he just turned 14! and! i! think! this! year! he's! gonna! be! mean!
adam <3 i truly don't know how you can just not love adam like he goes from a central antagonist to one of the central protagonists. he's really arguably one of three ducks who has an actual character arc. like can you imagine hawks!adam quitting varsity to play on a team with fucking goldberg? nope.
when i was a kid i loved julie bc i was also a female goaltender. and she's a badass bitch. i love how julie is consistently the (second) best player and she knows it too. she doesn't take any sexist bs. she straight up tells bombay she deserves to play. #GordonBombayHatesWomen "i hate ties, they're like kissing your brother"
this spot was a bit tricky but i think i'm going w jesse. i think it's a testamant to brandon's incredible timing that he's this high. i also think that d1/d2 jesse and d3 charlie are tethered so i think i just like these boys who don't take any shit. also jesse is arguably the funniest duck. SURE IS COWBOY
connie moreau! i'm glad she got more of a voice in d3 and game changers bc i think she's the ultimate GirlBoss. when she just shoves the iclenad player to the ground in d2? queen shit. she's also a fashion icon and i lowkey had a crush on her when i was a kid so what can i say? love that's a state senator and #Moreau2024
russ! i rly wanted to put guy here but i don't think he ultimately does enough. russ adds so much to every scene that he's in. as ridic as the concept of the knucklepuck is, he sells it. and i love how he stands up to charlie in d3 and gives him a reality check!
guy germaine my stay at home dad malewife lesbian coded king <3 the ULTIMATE fashion icon who is just a really smooth player and just so happy to be w connie and loves his friends. "don't push her she's a girl" <3
i love kenny wu, and i love literally any scene where he's being the third bash brother or trying to trash talk. he's also just such a little cutie i don't get how you don't have him in your top 10.
i'm gonna put portman here bc he cracks me up and i just think aaron has rly great delivery and that sells portman for me. i think he could've been omitted from d3 ultimately, but his d2 stuff is just chef's kiss
i went back and forth but i'm gonna put averman just bc he's rly consistently funny and i think he's an underrated character in general
fulton. i don't generally love fulton as much as other ducks fans do, BUT i rly love him in d3
dwayne! what a sweetheart
ugh i cannot STAND goldberg but i think shaun is charismatic enough that goldberg is likable, if that makes sense? but he's just sucha fucking bad player and so arrogant about his "skills" that it knocks him down here.
i'm literally putting terry here just because he's such a lil cutie despite not doing much in d1. oreo line supremacy tho
tammy. original feminist icon and lesbian icon iykyk
shockingly i don't hate peter? i actually think jd gives a good performance (particularly the "i don't need your stinkin' equipment" scene) he's just like irrelevant in the scheme of things
i have a bias against luis bc i don't like mike vitar, but luis is just a misogynist. oops
tommy duncan. like fr name one thing he does and he has like maybe three lines
karp. fuck karp
SERIOUSLY HE DID NOT ANYWHERE REMOTELY NEAR SIGN UP FOR ALL OF THIS SHIT WHERE IS THE INFORMED CONSENT PAPERWORK FOR LEARNING MAGIC IS REAL.
EXHIBIT C:
AND THAT'S JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG, MY FRIEND. WE HAVE SO MANY OTHER BLORBOS FOR YOU TO SEE, AND A SECOND FIC ON THE BACKBURNER WITH A SIMILAR CAST OF CHARACTERS.
Small-Town Tales is my pet project. It's my baby and if anything happens to it i'll kill everyone in this room and then myself (reference). Jay is a barn owl avia (bird equivalent of a selkie) and arrives in town to the rudest greeting possible: getting mauled by wolves. After mauling the wolves back, he manages to fly his sopping wet bloodied self to the front door of the clinic before collapsing in the plaza, essentially on Doctor Harvey's front doorstep.
Cloak shenanigans ensue in the following chaos as Harvey saves Jay's life, bada bing bada boom you got an accidental marriage that nobody wanted. Jay manages to settle into Pelican town which, despite seeming like an idyllic little village, is actually a massive source of chaos for anyone living there. Other character arcs coming soon to a chapter near you.
Promise? Is my project on the back burners. Despite this, I love it just as much as STT - although it certainly won't end up anywhere near as long (pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease have mercy on me gods of writing and hyperfixations). Doctor Harvey finds himself down bad with hanahaki for the local aspiring author. Angst ensues - do not fear, for i am an absolute slut for the comfort part in hurt/comfort.
More details on both can be found on my sideblog, @gracklekeyer2000 , as well as my Ao3 account by the same name. All of my writing on Ao3 requires an account to view because of the muskrat's data scraping. However, The Incident is linked in the pinned post on my sideblog. It's not quite complete yet - there's meant to be a part 3 - but the most important, plot-relevant details coming from that piece have been ironed out in the first two parts.
(For ask game)
D for Demetria!
Ah! Thank you so much for your question!
D1: Alec and I live in the flat above our shop - I suppose that counts as a house? At any rate, I prefer ‘elegant’ decor, quite old-fashioned in design I suppose! I also like varnished wooden finishes in furniture with floral carvings!
D2: Arc, if we had a child… I would like to decorate my child’s room to be colourful and full of fun! Perhaps Alec and I could paint a mural for their wall…
D3: my own room is quite open and airy! I have a lot of white fluffy blankets inspired by my darling Whisper! There is not a lot of clutter!
Well… there is on Alec’s side of the room, but he has a different organisational system than I! So he says…
D4: I enjoy wearing ‘pretty clothing’! That said, I do not like wearing clothes that are impractical, so my personal style tends to be elegant but simple!
D5: I enjoy make-up as an art! However I tend not to follow trends!
There’s going to be plenty of tension so don’t worry! But unfortunately a good chunk of it, is just the pure weight on Ben’s shoulders. The Beast family is basically just looking to ride off of Ben’s back even if he married the princess and became king, Beast and Belle expect him to do whatever they say. There’s a lot of tension in general in the D1 portion because everyone knows that something is up and are just waiting for things to blow up. I’m dreading the scene that’s pretty much after the Did I mention scene in the movie which is essentially Beast and Belle find out and pretty much brutalize Ben while he’s spelled and while healing his injuries (not because they care, just because they want to force him to apologize) the spell is washed off.
And yes, despite my hate for ship for the plot I have to write them as a couple for a little while on the bright side there is likely to be some Bevie going on in the D2 and D3 arcs.
Spoilers from I'll wait for you D1 ARC:
Mal gets slapped on at least 3 different occasions by Oriana
Chad has gotten he arm snapped/broken by Hyunjin
There will be frequent lunch scenes with Aks
Beast and Belle are evil, not just 'blame everything on them' evil but actually evil more beast than Belle
Beast is going to basically attack Ben after the love spell because Ben's actions threatened his royal status
Family day is going to be a lot worse
we don't get our actual first kiss scene until after family day
Ben does get to snap and take his frustrations out in a scene
Unfortunately for the plot I'm going to have to write a chapter solely dedicated to just making Bal express their feelings for each other *Shudders*
constantly torn between wanting to consume more descendants content and not being able to stand the writing and the plot lines in the sequels
#i read the wiki plot for d3 what the fuck was that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#one day i'm sitting down and rewriting the entire universe.................... god#night falls can stay but only barely#literally what was the whole point of mal and audrey curtseying and smiling to each other and having fun at the dance in d1 if they were#just gonna make audrey the jealous ex and villainize her in d3#also i know that mal's the Main main character but damn they don't gotta step on the others and shove them to the side just for her#d1 was sexy because the core four got more or less equal focus on their own development arcs in auradon realizing that they didn't have to#adhere to what their parents taught them#and there was actual literal focus on them banding together and sticking together and stuff#but then!!! d2 is all relationship drama and mal dealing with overwhelming pressure and pushing everyone away sure but ben's once again used#as a plot point and the boys are just muscle and back up dancers I Guess#at least evie still got some spotlight#but now looking at d3.... What The Fuck Is This Shit!!!!!!!!!#also damn uma and audrey really deserved better#like uma could have at Least gotten similar treatment to the other vks in d1 where she lets go of her quest for petty vengeance#and audrey's entire character is built around who she's dating and her being That Mean Bitch TM#uma should've gotten with audrey smh instead of audrey making eyes at harry#actually wait no new ot3 uma has two hands she can keep harry and kiss audrey#pirate audrey would've been so much hotter than cheap imitation maleficent audrey 😔#still on my bullshit sorry guys lmao#tick talk
