eden glances up at diomedes' satisfied expression in the bathroom mirror with a smirk of her own, not pausing in her hand-washing. the blood between her fingers turns the fragrant soap bubbles in the sink basin a mottled pink. she's almost sad to see it go, the blood, this evidence of their successful mission together slipping down the drain with each passing moment.

they could clean themselves up with magic, of course, but this post-mortem event has become something of a perverse, intoxicating ritual for them. a few extra minutes to see themselves for the great and terrible nightmares that they really are. it's macabre, it's beautiful, it's calming.

"i've never doubted that," eden murmurs when the water goes clear. she turns, presses a bleach-white towel to the splatter of rusted scarlet on dio's jaw, a featherlight caress. it's their predilection for exquisite violence, their raw power, that drew them to each other in the first place. "i really pity anyone who gets in our way."
