Monday, 18th June 2023 - Procrastinating chores

Mother woke me up this morning saying she wanted me to do four things;

1. Clean the summerhouse

2. Hoover the house

3. Put toilet duck down the toilets

4. Do my ironing

I only just finished 4 - I spent most of my day outside with Harvey or on call with him. Alison messaged me at about ten asking if I was going outside and if so if I could not rush so that she and Harvey could be alone together. I didn't tell him this, but he probably picked up on it, as he messaged me at some point asking me to go out and meet them - so I did. Alison had to be home by 12, so we wandered back to hers and then Harvey and I went and brought 4 lucozades for £2.50 (fuckin bargain), before heading to Mattson's to bully him into going outside. It didn't work. Lad had a tech exam this morning and was probably exhausted, but he has messaged Alison and I asking if we're free tomorrow, so I might be seeing him.

After our failure at getting Mattson to come outside, Harvey and I headed toward a park near mine, which has a tree in it nicknamed the "Cath Makeout Tree" by the council.

Actually, I made out with Mattson at a different tree in that park as well, but oh well.

We got there, and on it was scrawled a purple heart surrounding several different initials - C + J, C + M, C + S, C + R, C + W, courtesy of Bella. I'd been told before that that was there, but I didnt genuinely believe it until I saw it, and stared, open-mouthed at it, muttering "the little fucks" while Harvey giggled as he figured out what it was.

We continued to try and bully Mattson into coming outside, without success, until we decided it would probably be more worth our time if we went home and just sat on a discord call.

So that's what we did. Harvey played warthunder, I watched Rick and Morty (he's been bugging me into watching it for absolutely ages) and ate my lunch, and finally when I left the call at about 16:10 did I actually do what my mum had told me to do through today- plus feeding the cat.

Also, a bunch of clothes came today in the mail from Shein for when we go to Mexico in August - which I'm super hyped for, it's going to be incredible (but updates will be irregular while I'm there because of the time difference-). There's still another lot of clothes on their way, which include a genuinely gorgeous red dress I am so hyped to try when it comes. I still have to tidy my room though in preparation for college - it's an absolute monstrosity at the moment, and I intend to spend most of tomorrow morning tidying it if I don't go out and wreck havoc with Mattson and Alison (unlikely, we all just bully eachother)

Bonus(not for my dad tho): My dad has had a very unlucky day. First he got a puncture while cycling to work, then the handle of his favorite tiger tank 131 mug broke off and the mug sliced his three middle fingers, and then as he was talking about his bad day to my mum when he got home, he dropped his phone and now it's cracked. Can we have an F for my dad please he's had a rough day-

For now tho imma go - wish some luck for Matty tho, they're playing the new Zelda game at the moment and though it looks awesome it also sounds fucking difficult.

Re: OG Armour F!Byleth. Legit I am always so mad about it, I hate her version of the outfit. especially that dumb ass medallion on her gigantic boobicles. Tbh as a She/They I wouldn't have even minded much is they had kept the arm bare they way they are, or opened the split in the top a bit and kept the shorts and tights underneath. Tho I also own tights like that and they're my fave so i'm slightly biased there lol. But still, the drastic and nonsensical changes are infuriating.

I see absolutely no rational reason for changing Byleth's outfit just because she's female, especially considering the impracticality of the new outfit she was given. From what we know of her personality, she is highly unlikely to care about appearance, especially during her Ashen Demon days, and I seriously doubt that her outfit would be something Jeralt picked out for her. It's fanservice, plain and simple, and I hate it. I usual support the canon, but this is something I reject completely. The creators didn't do a different outfit for female Robin, so why should Byleth be any different? At *very least* they should have included an option for F!Byleth to change into M!Byleth's gear.

other anon spoke too soon lmao; i don't want to bring you the discourse but apparently there ARE ppl dissing him because he said he wanted to make the character empathetic and give him a shot at redemption. it's a very very small minority that's hitting at barnes but they're there (more on twitter than tumblr tho i think). and the insults are the usual abuse apologist etc. definitely a very small portion of the fandom tho, unlike what it would have been in case of any unconventional looking guy.

(oh also there's the fact that he's spoken good things about the main "unproblematic" ship, but also about the other problematic one so both sides are like see this guy also doesn't like YOUR ship lol it's funny till it gets exhausting)

i think it also helps that a large part of the fandom is also a fan of the guy from the narnia movie so there's that.

^ I totally think the mutually beneficial relationship is one of the reasons I adore it so much. Mutual healing is the BEST and I'm so happy we got something like that, however brief. I also really love that it's told without words and relies simply on visual cues. That's just. Such a cool storytelling tactic and I adore it but I feel it might get glossed over a lot. Not here tho! On this blog we stan Jacket and Girlfriend lol

All of that which you just said is also exactly how I feel about it, and I like to say it's because we finally get a m/f ship that isn't written through an oppressively straight lens. There's no conflict, no weird arguments, none of that "my s/o is such a burden", no petty drama or looming awkward encounter. It's like getting healthy representation in the most unlikely place. It has no tropes or attributes usually seen in relationships like this in (average) media. I don't wanna harp on about it but it's just a well written relationship that had the magic of not having any dialog.

But I think a lot of this can be figured out by what we see in the game! How the apartment becomes cleaner even though it's a coma dream, how they wait a good while until they're comfortable enough to push their beds together, how you can't go into the bathroom while she's in there getting ready... Obviously Jacket respected her boundaries and cared enough about her to want to give her the best environment he could, and up until this point we've been shown an almost purely brutal, animalistic character. She brings out his humanity.
