When I was a toddler visiting grandma we'd play house under the kitchen table. That feels fairly normal. The part where she gave me shot glasses of coffee feels less so.
Neither of my parenta drink coffee, so when we stayed at hotels it was nostalgia + forbidden fruit lol. They gave up on me not drinking coffee when I was about 11.
Funnily enough, I drink coffee only because I want to rather than as a part of a daily/caffeine routine.
People who drink coffee: why did you start?
I don't drink coffee and I've never wanted to, but that's obviously ~not normal~, so I'm curious why most people do start drinking it.
#pretty sure it was decaf#I know I was a toddler at the time because we moved away when I was 3#when we visited I would stay at grandma's while my parents went to a couple bulk grocery stores we didn't have near home#and we'd have a reprise#not sure if I was terrible at secrets or if mom was just observant#but she would always tell grandma not to give me coffee & grandma would do it anyway & tell me not to tell mom#but mom almost always found out#pretty sure I told her tbh#I wasn't great at secrets#but as I got older mom's annoyed stories definitely dated back to before we moved#(this was my maternal grandma btw so she wasn't trying to piss off her daughter-in-law#she was not caring about pissing off her daughter)#when we went to hotels we'd usually be spending quite a while driving#and something in the coffee (caffeine or otherwise) would make me horribly car sick & give me the shakes#no idea if throwing up would've helped bc I'd developed a phobia of it by that point so I did everything I could not to#cw vomit#I really didn't get car sick otherwise#it doesn't do that anymore#also caffeine doesn't do jack shit for me#except keep away the caffeine withdrawal migraines#that I've gotten from overdoing it on using caffeine to attempt to deal with the not-caffeine-related migraines#my body doesn't react correctly to a lot of chemicals/meds#or at all#but that's another never-ending-tags story
