Of Broadcast Decisions and Errors
Just making a post to gather all the information up regarding what happened with the episodes broadcasted (and not broadcasted) this past weekend to possibly help with any confusion, as when I started writing this, there was a fair bit around. (Even the TAG! page on Wikipedia can't seem to decide what to do with all this. No, despite the ep being passed over, it doesn’t become 25th/26th Episode. /)_<; It’s still the 22nd Edit: oh good, someone fixed it lol.)
November 25th should originally have been the broadcast day, on ITV of episode 22, Inferno. Instead, episode 23, Long Haul was switched into the schedule and was, indeed, the episode that was broadcasted that day.
On Monday the 27th ITV made a statement via the TAG! HQ Twitter and Facebook...
Given the subject matter (not to mention also the apparent location) of the episode, it’s completely understandable why they came to this decision at this time. There is currently no plans to broadcast it and it appears there are plans to even omit it from the UK DVD release.
The episode was also not added to UK iTunes; instead Long Haul is currently available.
The episode is, however, still officially available on UK Amazon Video to any interested as well as through UK Amazon Prime.
Inferno was, however, broadcasted this weekend by the Australian network 9GO!, presumably by mistake as they had not aired a new episode one week, pushing their airdates forward. If uninterrupted Inferno would have aired this weekend, so seems likely there was a mistake here, as there is plenty of evidence it was after Home on the Range. (At a guess, given there was a schedule time change, perhaps that led to the broadcast episode confusion.)
It is also currently due to be broadcast in Canada on the CHRGD network on December 9th. (Also in it’s intended order of episode 22. CHRGD has been 2 episodes behind the UK. Home on the Range is scheduled for Dec 2nd.)
The episode was also “aired” some time ago by the Chinese online streaming platform iQiyi, which accidentally has been releasing episodes in production code order, instead of intended broadcast order. (Oops.)
I posted some of this on a post on my main, but for the record, here it all is... Production order and broadcast order for part 2 of S2.
