sci fi pet peeve: when stories act like EVA suits are like scuba gear and you're losing air with every breath so the number that matters most is how much O2 you have, and they don't even mention CO2

#you can die with a full O2 tank if you're not removing CO2 from the system!!#not to mention how the atmosphere we breathe normally is mostly nitrogen #we don't need that much O2 #but just a little bit too much CO2 makes us feel like we're suffocating #it's not the lack of O2 that makes us breathless it's the buildup of CO2 #(that's not to say low O2 environments aren't hella dangerous #one of the symptoms of low blood oxygen is spontaneous death!)
