CHARA INTRO: first up, sverre olsen. he's a 26yr old grad student studying @ jeju natl university on the gks scholarship. he's an assistant editor for the local paper, but mostly works remotely as he spends a lot of time in jeju city for school. currently on his ~2nd year of living in yuseong bay. you can view his stats here & his pinterest here if interested!

when did your muse first arrive in yuseong bay?: technically, about three and a half years ago when he did a semester abroad @ jeju natl uni as an undergrad student. he was living in jeju city, but a friend brought him to yuseong bay to see the meteor shower and he kind of fell in love with the place, which prompted him to consider doing the entirety of his grad studies in jeju. obviously, things ended up working out in his favor and he moved to yuseong bay two years ago.

what does an average day look like for your muse?: wake up at 6:30am, check on his cat (let her in if she spent the night outside; let her out if she spent the night inside) / make sure she has food, get ready, grab a quick coffee & breakfast @ andante cafe, catch the bus to jeju city, hate his life for about 7 hours, catch the bus back to yuseong bay, check on his cat (let her in if she spent the day outside; let her out if she spent the day inside), spend the rest of his evening working thru his laptop, which he will usually do in a public setting in order to people watch and daydream about having more friends than he does, try to go to bed by 10:30pm, usually lay awake regretting until midnight. rinse, repeat.

where can your muse usually be found?: around 7:30am he'll make a brief appearance at cafe andante (every weekday) / 8am to 3pm he'll be in jeju city @ jeju natl uni (mon, tues, thurs, fri) / frequently makes appearances at daeyanghwa florals to buy himself flowers, usually around 5:30/6pm / stops by ojo records about once every two weeks to see if anyone's given up any old records that might be up his alley / seen in the vicinity of hanwha resort wednesdays around 11:30am for undisclosed reasons, shut up, no you didn't see him there, that must've been someone else / does his weekly grocery shopping at lemon martes on wednesdays somewhere between 2pm and 5pm, usually loiters for a bit hoping to have a meetcute (hasn't happened yet, maybe next time?).

how does your muse feel about hanwha resort?: admittedly indifferent, but the general consensus suggests that he shouldn't be too into the idea, so he'll talk his fair share of shit if the social situation calls for it. unfortunately his parents chose to purchase a timeshare as an excuse to be closer to him for at least two weeks out of the year, so that's both making sverre truly hate the place but also making the locals think he's a supporter since his name is also on the timeshare and he has to attend the seminars.

is there an aspiration for your muse to stay in or leave yuseong bay?: eh... he's got a stray cat that's taken a shine to him, he's on a full-ride scholarship and still has another year to go before he gets his master's degree, and rent's cheaper here than it is in jeju city, so he's got reasons to stay at least for the next year. however, he doesn't romanticize yuseong bay like he used to & wouldn't be opposed to relocating—regardless, he'll have to go back to the netherlands once he's done with school, soooo...

describe your muse's wardrobe: “grandpacore,” to put it simply. a color palette of neutrals in vintage inspired pieces. a lot of chunky sweaters, loose trousers & loafers, has sometimes been told that his fashion choices are “reminiscent of oatmeal,” whatever that means. occasionally breaks out a bold t-shirt or sweatshirt with some ironic phrase on it. accessorizes with messenger bags, dad hats, minimal gold jewelry & retro (sun)glasses. has a collection of converse high-tops, but rarely wears them these days.

three strong likes and dislikes for your muse: really likes animals (especially ones that people are usually afraid of or grossed out by, i.e possums, insects, rodents), the sound of the ocean (including putting a big shell up to his ear to "hear the ocean"), laughing / really doesn't like ac/dc, traveling by taxi, action movies.

a relevant goal or arch for your character to overcome: at the moment, sverre's an assistant editor for the local newspaper; in the remaining time that he'll be in yuseong bay, he would like to be promoted to just... an editor... but that probably won't happen. aside from that, he's currently The Loser of Yuseong Bay so it would be nice to see him gain more confidence in himself / make meaningful friendships!

Because I keep seeing posts on people excluding our guy Gaz who's LITERALLY THE MAIN CHARACTER YOU PLAY IN MWI and MWII!!!!!

The storyline follows my main fanfic from Part 15 II - Simon 'Ghost' Riley x F!MedicDoc OC (codename: Blue) 💀💙

WARNINGS: Profanity, fluff, medical inaccuracies (because all my knowledge regarding medicine comes from Grey's Anatomy and that one stint I did as a first aider)

A/N: This is my first time writing a black character, I've heavily used @writingwithcolor as a guide to ensure I am doing my best to represent the characters. Please do let me know if there are any issues!

As Kyle made his way to the RAMC building, Soap's voice echoed in his head.

"Can't feel my legs"

"Lt I'm not gonna make it"

He tightened the grip he had on his vest that he still had not taken off, tainted with Soap's blood when helped Ghost with packing the cellox into the gunshot. Checking his watch it was 12:15pm.

Doc should be done by now he thought to himself as he walked through the double doors, walking past all the medical personnel and straight to reception.

He was met by an empty desk, and looking around the wards he could not see the Doctor nor any other authority figure. Kyle slid his hand into his back pocket retrieving his keycard.

The ambush from AQ when they were in Al Mazrah was something they had not expected, especially not with the kind of hardware they were carrying. State of the art machine guns, snipers, RPGs and up armoured vehicles. All this reeked of Makarov's doing.

Squeezing his fist tighter at the thought of Makarov's smug face made his blood boil. He smacked the reception desk hoping to release some of his built up anger, but it didn't help.

It was then he noticed the big whiteboard behind the desk on the wall and moved closer to it, scanning down the list of patient names until he found John MacTavish, his eyes slid across the row and saw Dr Hari Kaur and Dr Peyton Marie as surgeons assisted by Nurse Clarissa Edwards, Nurse Jenny Mao and Nurse Mikey Way. He then saw he was in the ICU bed 12. Looking down at his all-access keycard, Kyle grinned slightly and made his way to the double doors where the sign pointed ICU.

Once he arrived at the ICU, Kyle made his way to bed 12. There he saw Soap, laying on his back, eyes still closed and intubated. Cables where attached to Soap which were connected to the machines surrounding him, beeping rhythmically. The pipe coming out of his mouth was so unnatural an uneasy sick feeling settled in Kyle's stomach as he stepped closer.

"Soap?" He said, hoping that somehow the Scotsman could hear him and wake-up.

But no answer.

"Jesus" He whispered as he rested his hands against the bed where Soap laid. "You gotta wake up mate" He said nudging his left hand slightly.

Still no response.

Kyle sighed and closed his eyes, running his calloused hands through his hair and scratching the nape of his neck.

"Excuse me, what are you doing in here?" A voice behind him said sharply. Kyle turned, his eyes met a nurse dressed in baby pink scrubs that made her deep sepia skin glow, there was a green stethoscope wrapped around her neck that was crowned by black braids that swayed as she moved closer to him. In her hands she carried a tray with a big bag of liquid with a long thin pipe coming out of it.

"Err.. came here to see Soap" Kyle said, trying to remain cool, straightening up to appear more authoritative

"Dr Marie said I could see him" he lied, hoping she won't pester him...

"Really?" She said, her brown eyes widening, a grin appeared on her face. "When did you speak to her?" She asked moving over to Soap setting aside the tray on the overbed table, and then checked his charts that was in the folder hanging on the end of the bed near his feet.

Kyle cleared his throat. Gotta bullshit my way out of this he thought

"Few minutes ago in reception" He said, smiling at the nurse, trying to look at her keycard to identify her.

The nurse looked up from the chart and at Kyle, and raised her left eyebrow.

"Now, that's a lie as Dr Marie is currently snoring her head off in the on call room."

A wave of guilt and anxiety rushed over Kyle as he was rumbled.

"Err-" Kyle stuttered as he looked around the ICU, shifting his weight before looking back at the nurse who was still giving him a cautious look.

"I'm sorry I lied, just needed to make sure he was okay" Kyle admitted, looking back at Soap.

The nurse slightly relaxed, putting away the charts back in the folder and looked at Kyle as he gazed upon Soap. Her gaze met his and his eyes wandered back to her, she gave him a sympathetic smile.

"Alright, five more minutes, I need to give him some meds so you can stay here with me." She sighed moving towards the alcohol gel dispenser, squirting the foam on her hands before rubbing them together.

"Thanks Doc" Kyle said grinning at her

The nurse laughed "I'm nurse Clarissa Edwards, not a doctor" She said "Doctors wear blue scrubs, nurses wear pink or green" She added putting on a pair of pale blue gloves.

"Ah okay, that makes sense" Kyle said, now remembering Dr Kaur always wearing blue scrubs "It's nice to meet you Clarissa, I'm Sergeant Kyle Garrick"

"Nice to meet you too Sergeant" Clarissa said, giving him a big smile. Kyle watched as she moved over to the tray on the overbed table, grabbing the IV bag and hooking it onto the IV stand, and then moved to Soap's right hand, taking the stopper out of the cannula on the front of his hand, inserting a syringe with saline to flush the cannula.

"What's that you doin'?" Kyle asked curiously, peeking over to see what Clarissa was doing

"Just doing a saline flush, making sure any residual medicine is pushed into his vein, and prevents infection." She said, briefly looking over at Kyle's curious face.

"Ah I see" Kyle says "Did the operation go well?" He asked

Clarissa looked up. It was natural and normal for fellow soldiers to be perplexed about medical procedures, especially when their teammates were involved.

"The op went well, Dr Kaur and Dr Marie did their best" She said, not taking her eyes off the cannula as she attached the line of the IV bag.

Kyle hesisted a bit, his left leg began to shake rapidly, the heel of his boot making a rapid tapping sound against the vinyl floor. Clarissa looked down at his foot and then back up to Kyle's concerned face, sensing the oncoming trepidation.

"He got shot in the back" Kyle blurted without thinking, looking at Clarissa, who narrowed her eyes and then returned to the cannula, using an alcohol wipe to clear up the dirt between Soap's fingers.

Kyle wanted to smack his head against the wall. Stupid thing to say, of course she knew that he thought, turning away from Clarissa he rolled his eyes and brought his right hand to his face, running his forefinger and thumb across his brows.

Clarissa took her gloves off, and took a deep breathe in through the nose before exhaling through her mouth.

"The bullet was removed, there was a bit of nerve damage, but Dr Kaur did a neural graft. We won't know the full extent of any damages until he wakes up" She said to Kyle who still had his back to her.

Kyle turned back around

"He said he couldn't feel his legs on the helo" Kyle said, eyes glazed with tears as his mind took him back to the moment in the helo when Soap said those exact words to them.

Clarissa moved away from Soap and then walked around the bed, facing directly towards Kyle.

"You and your team did the best you could, the cellox was a great call, it definitely saved his life" She said, placing her hand on Kyle's shoulder.

Kyle felt a ripple of warmth wash over him as she placed her hand on him, he gazed at Clarissa, who smiled at him, he was struck by her striking beauty and kindness.

"It will take time, at the moment, it is a bit too early as he needs rest to aid recovery" Clarissa stated, smiling at Kyle. "We are keeping an eye on him, and we have the best doctors and nurses around in case anything happens" She added

Kyle's anxiety eased as she continued to reassure him that Soap would be okay.

"I suggest you also get some rest Kyle, I'll give you a call when he wakes up" She said

The continued reassurance and smiles that Clarissa gave him additional comfort. Kyle felt at ease.

"Thanks Clarissa, I'm sorry for barging in and lying" He said, looking guiltily at her

Clarissa laughed and smiled broadly which made Kyle's heart flutter as she gently tapped him on the the shoulder.

"Better get going, don't want to get in trouble" She said

"Ah I won't get in trouble don't worry" He said smiling back as he headed towards the door.

"Not worried about you! I'm saying me! Only authorised personnel are allowed in the ICU, especially not those covered in blood and dirt... no offence" Clarissa said, winking Kyle.

"Shit," Kyle said, realising he dragged his dirty combat boots into the ICU, breaking the clean protocol, he hurried to the door and opened the door, allowing Clarissa to walk through first who had whispered a thank you to him as she passed.

They walked out down the corridor back towards a now busy reception area.

Kyle turned to Clarissa who moved behind the reception desk, grabbing a whiteboard pen before scribbling the names of medicine and time administered on the row where Soap's name was. She turned towards Kyle who was still standing by reception.

"Thanks again Clarissa, you were really helpful" He said, smiling back.

"No problem Kyle, I promise to call you when he wakes up and when I get proper authorisation from either Dr Marie or Dr Kaur" She said, laughing slightly as Kyle widened his eyes at the mention of Dr Marie.

"You won't tell her-" He began

Clarissa's eyes widened and she shook her head as she noticed Dr Jones walk in behind Kyle.

"Clarissa, I need you to check on Miles in ward 3" He said not making any eye contact with her and moved towards the board.

"Yes sir" She said looking at him cautiously as he scanned the board "I'll speak to you later Kyle" She said finally before walking off. Kyle watched on as she walked off

"Bye Clarissa!" He yelled at her and laughed as she turned and gave him another wink.

Kyle walked back out the doors of the RAMC and basked in the sun that shone down on base. Relief washed over him as he took a big inhale through the nose. Checking his watching it was 1:36pm, he had been up for over 24 hours, and decided to take Clarissa's advice of getting some well deserved rest as he headed back to his quarters.

He hoped to see that dazzling smile soon.

Lynn Loring (born Lynn Eileen Zimring; July 14, 1943 – December 23, 2023) Film and television actress and television and film producer.

Loring began acting with a role on the anthology series Studio One on CBS. In 1951, at the age of seven, she played Patti Barron in the television soap opera Search for Tomorrow. She remained in the role for 10 years, until she graduated from high school in 1961. Other inserts backstory/facts Pt 1. Peyton Cooper

So, I’ve decided to give facts and a bit of backstory about my other insert characters, cause I had fun making one for Nash. Breaking it into parts cause I got like… 9 others to talk about (not counting Nash cause he’s already got his fact sheet.)

So, here we go!

Starting with my sea loving tall boi, Peyton!

Backstory:

Peyton grew up with parents who were already marine biologists and he wanted to be like them. Going out to the beach with them and picking up trash and collecting sea shells. He even tried to save an injured baby turtle when he was 7. Thinking if he could save it, he could be a great marine biologist like his parents. Which didn’t go over well as the turtle's fin kept getting worse. It led to Peyton telling his parents and thinking they'd be mad at him. However, his dad tells him that while he's upset for Peyton not telling them. He is proud that he had the courage to come to them for help. Making Peyton promise to never be afraid to ask or help others in need as it's always hard for most people to do. Peyton promised and made sure to keep it.

As he grew up, his career choice never changed and he studied hard in school. Soon his aunt and uncle had his cousin, Jackie and he loved her ever since he held her as a baby. Promising to be the best cousin in the world to her. The two becoming best friends as they grew up. But when Jay turned 5, her mother abandoned the family to "find herself" and left Jay heartbroken. Peyton made sure to be there for his cousin and being there when he needed him. Helping to sing him to sleep as well as to comfort her when she thought they would leave her too.

He got accepted into a college to continue his study in marine biology. Wanting his degree and interning at his parent's marina. However, things went south as his dad was going through liver failure. He was getting more frail and weaker by the day and Peyton spent as much time as he could with him. Working on essays and other school work with him. His dad told Peyton that he had a gift for him when he graduated and if he didn't live long enough to see it. That he'd open it once he got his diploma.

Peyton kept that promise as his dad passed away a few days before his graduation. He kept his head held high as he got it and once he and his family got home. He opened his father's gift which was a pocket knife. On it was a turtle with an X over its fin and on the back was the words "Never forget" on it. Peyton cried a lot once he saw it and was comforted by his mom, uncle and cousin.

Peyton soon moved to a different marina after his father’s passing as it didn’t feel right to work there without him. He moved to another state and worked under his boss Mr. Wood, who he doesn't get along with. Despite Peyton's effort to try and be civil, the two just never got along.

Peyton is a nonchalant guy who does things his way. Which can lead to people seeing him as lazy but he’s very hard-working just super chill about it. He'd also (once all his tasks were done) go out to the beach in order to continue picking up garbage and helped beached animals. Mr. Wood has tried to get him written up for this but Peyton wasn't breaking any rules. So, he couldn't really be written up for anything.

He became good friends with everyone, especially with Dr. Erick Evander. The two hanged out a lot, to the point where people thought they were dating. But they'd both stated that they didn't like each other in that way, but it didn't stop everyone's teasing words.

He also got to rehabilitate a black tip reef shark who he named, Mina and Peyton was the only one she trusted. As she always scared off other employees. So, Wood told Peyton to stop his "lazing around" going to the beach and focus on his actual work. Peyton then decided that day to take his journey to the beach on his lunch break. He also left his phone with his friend as it was dead, ignoring how he had to carry it in case he spotted something unusual. Wanting to spite Mr. Wood.

To which, he meet an unexpected friend and began a wild journey.

Facts:

Peyton is 33 years old, is 6’4 and goes by (He/They) pronouns.

Starting off with a silly fact. Seven of my inserts were made via my dnd dice. Three of them Jay, Matthew and Peyton were made up on the spot or inspired. Everyone one else was a dice roll, which helped me experiment with different character designs.

Peyton loves using nicknames for himself and others. It’s his love language in a sense. Which I headcannon that Peyton never says his name out loud during the Merfolk series. Just goes by Clemmy and whatever other nickname. (Examples: for Mr. Wood, he calls him Big B, for Jay, he calls him Jay-B and he has a lot of nicknames from others.)

Jay and Peyton are cousins, who are very close and see each other as siblings. Due to their upbringing.

He often times (when he’s done with caring to sea life and writing reports) goes outside to the beach to see if any sea life needs his aid. Also, does it to spite Mr. Wood.

He’s a vegetarian, as he has some meat allergies.

He also has a bit of a hero complex, though he always denies it.

Well-Behaved Women Never Make History: Meet the OCs

I had to make a lot of changes on this post so I decided to just start a fresh one. Just a side note, this is my first fic so please go easy on me. I'm pretty much learning as I go. Now, without further ado-

First, we have my main OC- Miss Claire O'Connor. Claire will be a combat medic/surgeon in Easy Company. She's 19 years old and a college student studying Pre-Med and Psychology (what I will be majoring in as well). She aspires to be a neurosurgeon and to lead the way for women in medicine (which will be very difficult for her during this time period). She starts off as a Private and makes her way to Staff Sergeant. She'll have a few love interests throughout the story and at the very end I'll decide who she ends up with. Most of these interests will be short-lived and will end up as just friends.

Next, we have an essential background character-Miss Peyton Nelson. She is Claire's childhood best friend. She is also a college student and hopes to become a journalist one day. The two of them have been best friends since they were in the fourth grade (think Tiana and Lottie but in Michigan). She helps the war effort by serving in the WAACs as a War journalist and Photographer. Again, given the time period, her experiences will be very unpleasant and often unfair. Unfortunately, this period was very unfavorable towards women, especially women of color. She and Claire will often confide in one another through frequent letters. She'll be mentioned quite a lot in the story and will make an appearance or two.

Our next background character- Noah Walters. He went to high school with Claire and is the same age as her. He is Claire's first love, however, they never dated. She's been in love with him since their freshman year. To put it simply she loved him from afar and in silence. It's very possible he felt the same way, but she never found out for sure. It didn't help that they were both quiet and introverted at school. The last time she saw him was the day of their graduation. Claire refers to him as "the one that got away". Most of her regrets revolve around never talking to him more and making her feelings known to him. He joins the Navy right before Pearl Harbor and was on the USS Oklahoma. Thankfully, he made it off the ship with only minor injuries and was soon back on the front lines, participating in The Battle of Midway. The highest rank he earns is Petty Officer First Class. He is also a Machinist's Mate, meaning that he operates and maintains the ship's machinery. He is very smart and has received offers from the higher-ups to work in intelligence, but denied them (mechanics is really his thing). He will be mentioned quite a lot and might make an appearance or two.

Now, our next two are my "later-on characters". They will appear later on in the story and won't be mentioned until their appearances.

Sean O'Leary. A young Irishman from Cork who dreams of being a pilot. He joins the Royal Air Force after The Evacuation of Dunkirk, much to his family's dismay. He will appear in the story when Easy is in Aldbourne (he may also reappear at another time after).

Benoit Desjardins. A young Frenchman from Bordeaux. He dreams of being a famous French actor. Bordeaux was a part of German-occupied France, which makes Benoit a resistance fighter. He appears during The Invasion of Normandy and is a great help to the Allied troops. (He may or may not have a bounty on his head after causing a few riots against the Axis powers during The Invasion of France in 1940 🤫.)

And there we have it! This concludes my "Meet the OCs". Next, I'm working on posting face claims for them. I will also introduce the other characters, such as family and friends that aren't overseas like these particular ones are. Clueless and Legally Blonde Redefined Bimbo-Core

Two movies that are now considered cult classics have redefined and reshaped society’s view on femininity (more specifically hyper-femininity), through the lens of two bubbly blondes who love pink. 

These two films put its female leads at the forefront of showcasing how women embracing femininity doesn’t make them any less valuable or less smart than the other less “blonde” women featured in each of their respective stories. 

Throughout both movies, the leads (Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, played by Reese Witherspoon, and Cher Horowitz in Clueless, played by Alicia Silverstone), are consistently doubted because of their shared blonde heads of hair and love for traditional femininity that they outwardly express. 

These two films address the stereotype of “dumb blondes”, and the presumption that women who are overtly feminine must be simplistic bimbos. Cher Horowitz and Elle Woods are two characters who proved that yes, the patriarchy was wrong: you can be both beautiful AND smart at the same time.

Ultra-feminine women depicted in the media are often depicted in a negative way; either they’re a gorgeous demon bombshell using their beauty to commit horrors unto unsuspecting men (think Jennifer’s Body), the mean girl (think Regina George from Mean Girls), the airhead (think of Marilyn Monroe’s characters) or, the opposite to the less-feminine and “more relatable” main character (think Brooke Davis versus Peyton Sawyer from One Tree Hill or Jessica Stanley versus Bella Swan from the Twilight movies). 

In short, femininity = negativity. They’re boy-obsessed, mean and “catty”, fashion forward and makeup dependent, and sometimes they’re even murderers. 

During the storyline of Legally Blonde, Elle is made the butt of many “dumb blonde” jokes because most assume, upon looking at her, that she is not serious enough about anything other than herself. 

From the jump, Elle has been underestimated, most notably by her boyfriend and parents who are meant to love and support her, thinking/assuming that she’s not cut out for law school, which is Elle’s goal throughout the film.

Elle is not dumb (she got into Harvard after all), but others rarely see past her “blonde hair and big boobs”, assuming that because she enjoys shopping and has a fresh manicure, she must be shallow and dim-witted. 

At first, Elle’s motives for taking the LSAT’s and getting into Harvard Law are mainly to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner, played by Matthew Davis. He (fake) sympathetically breaks up with her one night, because according to him, he needs “a Jackie not a Marilyn”, for the future of his career. 

After being dumped by Warner for not being “serious” enough (she says, “So you’re breaking up with me because I’m too...blonde???”), the peppy sorority blonde follows him to Harvard Law School - where we get the iconic phrase: “What, like it’s hard?”- to win him back at first, but later it’s to prove him (and others) wrong.

Legally Blonde sources its comedy from juxtaposing Elle’s bright-pink bubbly attitude and wardrobe against the prestigious and intellectual atmosphere of Harvard Law School.

Elle ultimately proves her doubters wrong, not by conforming to their expectations, but by demonstrating her worth while remaining true to herself. She’s shown to be ambitious, driven and dedicated to her studies, all while maintaining the same beauty routines she’s always had. 

Aside from Elle, everyone is dressed in muted or neutral colours. For example, Elle’s “rival” at the school, Vivian Kingston, is seen wearing predominately blues, browns and blacks in her clothing while Elle always has a touch of pink and obvious “girly-ness” present in her clothing, whether that’s through the hot pink pleather jacket and skirt she has on upon arriving at Harvard, or simple butterfly clips that keep that her bouncy blonde curls in place. 

Elle’s appearance is central to her character because it’s what people use to pass judgement and make assumptions about her. The entire film’s premise is that yes, Elle is a proud blonde, but she’s not a dumb blonde. 

And the same thing can be said about Cher Horowitz, the main character from Clueless, another and similar coming-of-age comedy about a self-empowered blonde girl. 

Cher also initially seems like a vapid valley-girl, others often seeing her as some “ditz with a credit card” (it’s assumed by other characters that Cher is nothing but an airhead, i.e that she’s “clueless” about life and only cares about herself), but the film shows there is nothing wrong with what Cher likes.

Although Cher’s story is more subtle and complex than Legally Blonde, as Cher does have some flaws, and the film is not built around proving others wrong, the premise is the same as Elle’s story.

While Cher may not be tackling law cases, she (just like Elle) is continuously trying to better herself as a person and do good for others without giving up her personality and the things she enjoys. 

Cher has a subtle intelligence of being aware of how the world works without sacrificing her personality. As a rich and privileged white girl, Cher actively steps out of her bubble and works on herself but doesn’t change herself to achieve that.

Like Elle Woods, Cher has a detailed knowledge of fashion, unabashedly enjoys makeovers, and carries a pen with a poofy-pink end, even helping her father with his upcoming trial-casework. 

While Legally Blonde and Clueless successfully advocated for the stereotypical blonde girl, other movies not-so-subtly demonize hyper-femininity. Such examples are the High School Musical trilogy and Mean Girls.

Mean Girls’ main character, Cady Herron, is the embodiment of the “not-like-other-girls” trope; she’s not fashion forward like the “Plastics” of the film (the popular, hyper-feminine group of girls), she’s not concerned with her appearance in the way that they are and she simply “doesn’t get it”.

Throughout the duration of Mean Girls, Cady pretends to be one of the Plastics at first to help her friend Janice Ian enact her revenge upon them for bullying her in previous years, but as time goes on and Cady spends more time in the company of Regina George (again, another blonde) and her squad, she becomes just like them. 

She becomes obsessed with a boy, obsessed with her appearance, unconcerned about her academics, and becomes a horrible friend to Janice and Damian. 

It isn’t until she denounces the world of hyper-femininity and reverts back to who she previously was, that she is viewed as a good person. 

Regina George (the supposed villain of Mean Girls) and Sharpay Evans, the antagonist of the High School Musical movies are both young, blonde girls who have a bright wardrobe and outwardly show an interest in hair and makeup; both of these characters are shown as “evil”.

Sure, they haven’t been the nicest people but Sharpay is clearly ambitious and driven towards her dreams and goals of being on Broadway, and Regina (although scheming and malicious at times) was quite a smart person - in my opinion - in how she manipulated others. Let’s also not forget that Regina isn’t the only villain; Janice and Cady were just as bad. 

The abovementioned female characters throughout this essay all proudly showcase their girly-ness as not something to overcome, but rather something that can be embraced. Another great example is the Barbie Dolls franchise; Barbie has over 200 careers, all while maintaining her signature pink colour palette.

There is no need to demonize femininity in the media. Shockingly, women can be many things at once.

Eloise is one of the best characters on Bridgerton!

Claudia Jessie Peyton (born on October 30, 1989), known professionally as Claudia Jessie, is an English actress, and began playing Eloise, the fifth Bridgerton child, in the Shondaland-produced Netflix period drama Bridgerton, an adaptation of the Regency romance novels by Julia Quinn in 2020.

Jessie was born in Moseley, England and grew up on a canal boat. She spent some of her childhood in London and was homeschooled from the age of 14 before returning to Birmingham when she was 17. We definitely feel differently about Israel and terrorist groups like Hamas, but I wanted you to know that I adore you anyway and your blog is still one of my very favorites! I'm dying to start a nerdy but casual bible study for those of us who are tolerant, open minded believers. In the meantime, I have a question for you: which TVD characters do you think would be most open to believing in God? Elena specifically tells us in the first episode that she's not a believer, but by the end I think she's obviously more at peace and open to all sorts of supernatural phenomena and the idea of miracles? Bonnie seems the most spiritual but maybe more as a connection to nature than a belief in a biblical God...? Stefan...no. I can get into why, but suffice it to say I just don't see it. I could actually see Damon secretly open to a higher power despite snarking on it and (like me) not generally being a fan of organized religion. I adore the idea of scripture helping to guide Damon's own redemption but know that fic would be the most hated one ever posted lol. Caroline seems like she'd go through some of the rituals and traditions of Christian religions but not actually believe? Matt may be the most traditionally religious since he's the most traditional in general. As for One Tree Hill--Haley is canonically a believer even though the show is fairly subtle about it, Nathan seems sort of like one in later seasons (like his reflex is to go to chuch to pray for Clay), Peyton would likely not be open to the idea but who knows and same goes for Brooke, Lucas seems like he might be too much the skeptical intellectual (I often was too!) to believe in God but does specifically mention believing in God again in that oft quoted line from the comet, which I find interesting. Quinn might have some new age-y spirtual ideas :) Anyway, I'm sorry for the rambling but just got excited to talk to you! No pressure to reply :)

They are faced with unknowns everyday and have seen so many things and had their beliefs shaken every season. As for Elena she’s specifically addressing the supernatural, which always made me wonder if they had social outliers who were believers like Jer- something she would have been exposed to, that existed as a result of the council not being soooo secret.

The most likely to be Christian imo is probably Elena or Bonnie or Caroline, because of their All American upbringing, demure natures and social masking.

As for One Tree Hill I have never seen it, lol

I did marching band in high school. Don't care if you don't consider it a sport; my high school's band was intense and we were so good, when we signed up for contests, other schools would back out.
