imagine if society started treating hanukkah the way it treats christmas and easter
#aje post#interblag#non fandom#politishizzle#aje is catholic#specifically i mean#if society started treating hanukkah as an incredibly commercialized event completely devoid of religious significance#to the point of inventing stories about how a c t u a l l y it's not really jewish#because (as a pretend example) it's called Chanuka in english and Chaani was a hindu god so CLEARLY it was a celebration of Chaani#(never mind that it's like Anukka Hannukah Hanukkah in most other languages with no C in sight)#and making up secular symbolism to replace the religious symbolism#like making five jillion movies about the TRUE meaning of Hanukkah being that everyone has light within them#do you think people would protest?#and if not why not?#and if so why not for the others?#i just randomly think about this sometimes#you could apply it to ramadan too maybe#but i know very little about that one and thus cannot make metaphors
