For a while I did and then I forgot again and I'm always afraid I will reply to someone but oversee someone else. In theory I want to respond to all of them! I just got two amazing ones in the last two days. So thoughtful and so plain kind. I definitely need to reply to these people.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I wrote one where Mulder dies (of old age, though) but I'm not even sure it's on AO3.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

All of them have a happy ending! I don't think I have a story without a happy ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I have. Mostly in the distant past, but I think some more recent hate too. If I remember correctly, it wasn't directed at a fic in particular but rather at me as a writer in general.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I have written a few smut stories. I know it's a popular genre, but I gotta be honest and admit that it's just not my favorite. Neither writing nor reading it. I know that's a very unpopular opinion.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Again, not on tumblr, but I think I wrote a Frasier/Hot in Cleveland crossover once.

My Five Minutes Series. I think about it so often but I like the chapters I have written a lot and I'm afraid to screw it up by writing more.

Everything. I struggle with describing an environment or surroundings. I gotta admit I sometimes even skip reading those parts when other people write them. I don't see those things in my head.

Technically I always write dialogue in another language since English isn't my native language. I've written a few German fanfics and that was a lot of fun. Might do it again.

So I've recently made a new AO3 account (completely separate from my main one, different email and everything lmao) bc I want to start writing porn, and I was wondering if I could have your permission to use some of your asks as like, prompts or ideas? Especially ones that were my own (this is PP!Tim Anon btw, and I've sent in. A lot of asks without signing them off as that, like I could make an entire list and it would probably hit double digits of which asks you've gotten that were mine lmao)!! I would ofc credit you and your blog! I don't know how to imbed links to the individual asks (I'll still try but I can't promise anything lmao), but I'll at least mention your Tumblr name and AO3 account!

I really wanna try my hand at some random, filthy oneshots without a bunch of world building or context, bc that's something I tend to get hung up on in my writing, and I wanna stick to some short and sweet smut oneshots about Tim being a pregnant, underage nympho slut, or a puppy factory, or a cocksleeve for the rogues of Gotham and their goons, all that good stuff!!

On that thought tho, do you have any pieces of advice for like, consistent writing, or motivation to write? Bc that's my biggest struggle tbh is sitting down to start writing. Usually once I start I can churn out a couple thousand words in one sitting, but I gotta start first, ya know? Any words of wisdom would mean a lot ❤️❤️❤️

yes of course❤️❤️❤️!!!!!!!!!!!! you don't believe how happy that makes me to hear!!!! so many of the asks i get sent are just so brilliant and well done and it would make me so beyond happy to know people started writing or got inspired to write out their ideas!!! and i'm sure that people who submitted other posts you get inspiration from would love to see others expand further on their asks ❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!

one shots are a really great way to really get back into a sort of groove of writing because it can be shorter, the plot may be not as dense or complex as something from a multichap (though you can also write VERY long one shots that are incredibly detailed too), and it can be mainly composed of "fun" writing in the sense that you don't have to do buildup for bigger things like you would in longer multichaps or those that are heavily plot driven. i totally get struggling to get motivation to write, for me it was always like i had to wait for my brain to be turned "on" or in a working mode for me to get any writing for my fics done which meant it usually only happened when i was studying for exams or doing projects for school. however for me that meant when i was in the 'off season' like breaks from school it meant that even though i had time, i no longer had motivation to write. that's something i'm still working to break myself out of and i think one think that is pretty effective is thinking of a scene or piece of dialogue i'm excited to write and look forward to getting to so it motivates to write to reach it. that works sometimes, other times i think of a reward i'll get myself once i finally finish. something like candy or some snack or food i don't often get or go out of my way to get. and another thing that works for me sometimes is basically planning the fic, for a short one shot the major bullet points of what happen would be a short list and so it would pretty much trick your brain into thinking 'wow a short task list i can do all of these pretty quickly/complete them without too much hassel or procrastination!'.

ultimately i think writing one shots takes a lot of pressure off since as a single chapter there's basically no further commitment needed like it would during a multi chapter fic which can be very relieving for people who get easily stressed or pressured by commitments with no hard deadline.

He hands him a pile of folded clothes, a green Hawkins High hoodie and a pair of soft gray sweats. There’s an undershirt and white tube socks and boxer briefs sandwiched between, and just—Eddie’s gonna just go out and quietly walk into a snowdrift. It’s gotta be better than thinking about wearing Steve Harrington’s borrowed underpants.

“Not really my style.” Eddie tries to shove the clothes back at Steve.

“You think I care?” Steve rolls his eyes, pushing back at him with all that swim captain strength and bitching about how ‘you’re not dying of hypothermia on my watch, capiche?’ and there’s really no arguing with that, is there?

Eddie kicks the powder room door shut behind him just to be difficult. Hopes it annoys Steve enough to make it worth the way the echoing slam makes him cringe.

He sets the clothes on the counter, wrestling to trap some feeling that’s trying to claw its way out of his throat, some low-grade-fever dread that blends right in with the Harrington decor. Caged bird, beige prison. This must be one of ten bathrooms in this place. He'd probably have to unscrew one of the light fixtures to find even a speck of dirt.

It's been very fun, has taught him away from the low hanging fruit of Steve mixing up his words and the effort he puts into his hair.

"You're right," Steve says, his beautiful smile a flash of white in the dim evening light. "My first time didn't involve getting eaten half to death either, you really dove headfirst into that."

Haha thanks for asking! lmao well it's mostly a joke but also at this point it's kinda getting to not be a joke? No, it is a joke, and I will continue to disclaim that several times bc this fandom latches onto things and runs with them and I don't even want to open that Pandora's box.

But, the seeds were planted awhile ago (maybe a month?) when this post was going around - basically, Tom had a surprisingly accurate assessment of the main categories into which Loki fans fell, regarding Loki's characteristics, and so some of us sat up like, and how would you know, Mr. Hiddleston?

So that was a fun time for all, and then after the first episode came out, I made a post about the little things that felt weirdly specific to things we've discussed at length on tumblr? With the same kind of tone/phrasing, I mean.

Then there's the professor bit, which I need to add to my list, but basically we all know "Professor Tom" is a nickname that gets tossed around fairly often in the fandom, the joke being about how he often goes on at-length about things even if no one actually asked. In episode 2, Loki spoke up at length about the difference between two powers, when no one actually asked, and gets hit with a Professor Loki.

Next, a couple of days ago, the post going around was about how Tom apparently, in addition to giving everyone on set in-depth lectures on Loki's character, showed up at Owen's house specifically to talk to him about Loki, and while this is hilarious, for me I kinda had the feeling like, okay Tom's probably not just sitting on that much meta, it's gotta come out somehow, he's probably secretly right here beside us, commenting and offering his own perspectives lol jk unless ...?

Finally, the bit you quoted - not just the metaphor or the way he delivers it feels like fanfic but I felt like there were so many, like, fanfic/fandom tropes? I mean, Loki's magic is always underutilized and needs to be fixed: Popular fandom topic check. All of the references to Loki being a magician? Fic check. Loki is way more powerful than they ever show on-film: Popular fandom topic check. (He telekinetically threw a building I'm-). Loki singing for one reason or another: Fic check. Loki complaining about physical activity: Fic check. (This happens a lot in pre-canon fics when he and Thor go on quests.) He and Sylvie on the train and there was only one bed booth: Fic check. There is literally even a Thorki fic called Vows from a Dagger (and it's very well-written, btw, if any Thorki friends are reading this and haven't read it) in which Loki gives Thor a dagger as a symbol of his love and devotion, which is the first thing I thought of but also just in general, the ~poetry~ of it all felt like fic to me. So, fandom and fic check. Hence the bit up above where I'm like, okay for real now, which one of you is secretly Tom and can I read your fics please lmao.

But anyway. It really is just a joke that I personally think is really funny bc like imagine if Tom has been lurking all this time and ended up giving himself away bc he kept slipping fandom/fic tropes into the tv series and we're all like

so yeah. But each time I post about this, I must include the disclaimer that it is a joke, I'm not really serious, I don't really believe Tom lurks around here bc I'm sure he has better things to do - but, the "evidence" I've compiled just makes me feel like, if it turned out he did, I would not be surprised at all.

Canary by cloud_nine_and_three_quarters (a fanfic review)

Moment of truth: I actually actually actually scrolled through this story countless of times in my ao3 feeds (can we call it that?) before I actually decided to give it a shot because I saw a tumblr post about it (I don't really remember what the post was about) and now I can't put it down. I mean I've tried but I kept going on bathroom breaks at work just so I can sneak a read... So the reason why I kept putting it off was because I was sort of thinking that maybe Canary was like the typical cliched story that follows the typical cliched timeline and flow and you get me. I'm also just bad with music haha. But dang, first chapter in and I'm already in love.

After reading Bough Breaks (it's still ongoing, mind you so I still look forward to that), I have developed a certain love for Present Mic due to his protective and open-love nature and Canary provided that Present Mic in this story and it's the version I never knew I needed but definitely wanted. And I love how effortlessly it falls to Mic's character that I actually end up wondering if it's canon.

Here is the story summary:

Midoriya Izuku is Quirkless. Well, he thought was. That was until he opened his mouth to sing.

There is more power in Midoriya's singing than he could have ever dreamed of - a power truly worthy of a hero. But will he ever have the confidence to spread his wings and soar?

Follow Canary on his journey to find his voice and become the hero he was always meant to be.

And my own version of the summary, as a fangirl, would be something like this:

After years of being bullied, abused, ignored, and tormented by people who were supposed to help him grow and have a healthy childhood (not Inko tho, she's always an angel), Izuku has learned to shut the world out by shutting himself up. Selective Mutism. Quirkless and mute are the top two things to describe him - but he is more than that. Always, always, more than that. A musician by heart, a genius by mind, and a sweet and loving boy by nature, Izuku makes it into UA without any need for a quirk and without any dreams of getting into the hero course - that is, until he meets the right people.

Anyway, I really really love how the first chapter starts. It's cute and simple and yet so heartwarming. And I love how the story just progresses and how the characters got to know each other and learned to love each other and I just ajsbsbakakbflabd I can't even remember how many times I said "awwww babies!!!!" with a stupid grin on my face. In front of people. Like I said, I can't put it down.

But as always (or at least, as always as I can manage), I'm going to explain what I like about this story minus the fangirling bit.

One, I love the fact that this story presents Present Mic as Izuku's mentor. I honestly don't like him (but I don't dislike him, there's a difference) since I really hate loud people but fics like these make me admire him given how they portray him with a little bit of canon in it. Present Mic has three jobs. How he manages to be a teacher, a pro-hero, and a DJ (?) is beyond me, especially when they do mental health rescues on the side, too. And that's another thing that I like. Present Mic is a mental health advocate. That alone is enough for me to call him an angel. AND HE GAVE IZUKU LEGIT ADVICE ON NERVOUSNESS. You gotta read, little listener, if you wanna know.

Two, Shinsou. He's an angel, too, albeit a slight insomniac with good insults and dark humor at that. And I just really love him, how protective yet supportive he is of Izuku. How he cares for him and loves him and his want of him to grow. I can't say much without spoiling so I encourage to just really read. I also meant love as in platonic.

Three, Bakugou gets put in his place. I love how Cloud (can I call the author that?) wrote the Sports Festival. It was lovely. AND THE LAST SONG IZUKU SINGS AHHHHH GOOSEBUMPS

Four, KODA KOUJI GETS A SPOTLIGHT. THIS IS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS FOR ME I LOVE IT.

Now discontinuing the counting, I also just definitely adore how Cloud wrote Izuku's character - from the secrets to the past to the fears to the mental barriers - it creates a clear picture of who Izuku is. Of who he was. Of what constricts him and stops him and frees him. Which makes it all the more heartwarming when you see him grow.

I love how he used to dream of becoming a hero and how it conflicts with his present, especially after his conversation with All Might. I love how his past often get intermingled with his present that you see his struggle and feel it in your bones. I love how Izuku feels real.

I also love the fact that when Shinsou finds out Izuku has a quirk, he's happy. He wasn't envious or jealous or worried. He was happy. And that makes me happy.

As alwaaaaays, I have a few concerns (I mean when have I not, right?) regarding the story but all in all, I love it. I love it. I love it. It is now easily in my top bnha fics.
