the latest trashgate is i keep drawing guides on petri dish lids (you draw a guide in sharpie on one lid, then you can set all your plates INSIDE the lid and see the guide-- meaning you can put things on the plate in the same place across every plate, or keep track of space while using the microscope, etc). it's one of those things where you COULD spend more money on a plate with a grid printed directly on it, or you can make one customized to your needs for free

i keep having to make them because people THROW THEM AWAY. i was keeping them in a communal space where the lab manager told me they're supposed to be, but people threw them away anyway. i started keeping them in a basket ON MY DESK labeled "mixel's stuff" and people still threw them away

now the basket says DO NOT TOUCH -- YOU WILL BE CURSED!

#please why?????#previously i had issues with:#someone threw away a 'dead' plant i put in the window over my desk #(i was attempting to nurse it back to health)#they did this AFTER they threw away a bunch of the wrappers petri dishes come in #(it's common to store dishes in the wrappers once you've made them with whatever agar)#so the plant was tossed AFTER i said to that person: 'hey i understand why those things looked like trash but i needed them.'#'please do not ever touch my personal stuff again even if it looks like trash'#then a different person threw away a reusable coffee cup????#it was one of those ones made to look like a disposable one but it was PLASTIC and STILL HAD COFFEE IN IT #people also steal my plates so i added a curse to those too >:(#mixed bag
