toronto is a weird place. bear in mind i'm a country bumpkin and until last week the only big city i had ever experienced was montreal which is still relatively small so this may have tainted my perspective but in any case toronto has such a difficult to define vibe. when toronto does something good it's absolutely spectacular but when it's bad...holy shit is it ever a fucking nightmare. SO many tall buildings EVERYWHERE. the streets were SO crowded i have never seen this many people in my entire life. i have never seen this many cars either for that matter. just SO many cars. y'all live like this? and i wasn't even downtown but even residential neighborhoods (or at least the one i stayed in) feel like downtown montreal. you could be walking around residential streets not too dissimilar to ones in montreal but then you get onto the commercial street and it's like you're downtown. it's so overwhelming. when i got home i couldn't believe how quiet it actually is here compared to toronto. props to them for not entirely dismantling their tram network though. also there are some great bars there. i like the narrow 3-story townhomes they're very charming. what's the point of having a dep if they won't sell you beer
