Honestly think Jessica Simpson's memoir should be required reading for Swifties (especially newer/younger ones) to understand what Taylor is driving at in so much of her music and how that kind of trauma has lasting and often lifelong impacts on a person even after they're out of the thick of it and healed.

#like... the way sex and substances and affection and alienation were all used to manipulate JS and keep her off-kilter #and the specific time her came into her life when she was vulnerable too (post-divorce)#and used her name in the press to keep her down #and the struggles she faced afterwards in the aftermath #(because I'd bet money jm is a ********** and so is mh but anyway)#would've could've should've #jessica was freshly divorced in her mid-20s and it still rocked her world upside down... imagine that with a relatively sheltered 19 yo #Jessica is very measured in how she speaks about it in that she's not salacious and she doesn't give all the gory details #but gives enough to be extremely clear about what he did #and honestly feels like what some people who don't get dear john/wcs fully need to fill in the blanks #(and smallest man too because same pathology different font)
