#heart of my own heart whatever befall#a design an alignment a cry#<- tags for christianity and christianity/queerness intersection. gotten a handful of new followers lately so this is your heads up.#//#been listening on and off for weeks to my parents talking at dinner about finding a new church and like. i simply have to laugh#so the context is they've been baptists for decades but my mom was born a presbyterian and was sprinkled as a (believing) teenager#but not immersed. so none of the baptist churches here will take her unless she gets baptized again. which i think is stupid but w/e#point is she also thinks it's stupid and doesn't want to do it because she thinks immersion/sprinkling is a dumb hill to die on#(and i agree. i'm a good protestant boy but the myriad subdivisions of militantly nitpicky protestant denominations are SO fucking stupid)#but like. also it's so fucking funny.#'why should it matter as long as you have a sincere profession of faith' hi! can't join the church i like because i'm trans! fully agree!#'why are they framing this as an insurmountable issue of disobedience' hi! you also say that about me! because i'm trans!#'i like this church in all other respects but they don't think i'm good enough' intimately familiar with that sensation! because i'm trans!#'there are reasonable biblical interpretations on both sides they're just being stubborn about theirs' huh weird i have the same problem!#you'll never guess why!#idk. it's not actually funny. it sucks for both of us. but also i am getting a slightly bitter chuckle out of it all the same.#idk. idk. i guess if you are of a praying disposition i would appreciate prayer for both of us. shit fuckin' sucks man.
