Why is everyone complaining about not having a polish actor? Its not historical fantasy. I’d be more pissed about the fact he looks fuck all like Geralt than the fact he’s not slav since it doesn’t fucking matter

well tumblr is big on having representation (see: ruby rose debacle) and I guess bc it was written by a Polish author and does draw from Polish culture people were hoping to see some Polish actors?

 I think a lot of people were hoping for a dude who at least looked like he could pass as a slav bc the witcher universe draws heavily from slavic folklore?  a lot of the popular casting choices I have seen have actually been Danes so I don’t think most people were married to the idea of Polish actors, but they just wanted the Eastern European influence on the world to be apparent in the show and Henry Cavill is like.....not a huge promising sign in that regard i guess??? 

like he looks nothing like geralt but  I think at least part of the casting decision is because they want someone who will appeal to the most number of people when he’s naked on top of a stuffed unicorn.
