Okay, so. I don’t keep up with the anime, but as far as I’m understanding, there’s one guy that creates insanely crackish anime fillers that don’t match the tone of DC cases at all.
Which to me sounds like there really isn’t anything stopping them (the anime team as a whole, though maybe also this one dude) from adapting like. At least 70% of the Special volume cases. And the only reason I wouldn’t say 100% isn’t because of insanity (though the last few volumes could create 2-3 episodes of a contained storyline), but because certain earlier cases have a level of gore that I don’t think current anime would allow even with censoring.
#Really the only reason I can think to not go with Special adaptations at this point#When the canon content is a trickle and the anime is majority filler 'case of the day' stuff anyway#Is if they wanted to do a spinoff anime solely for the Special cases#But even if that were the plan they def couldn't run it concurrently with DC#But like. In the eventual future where the story of DC actually ends#I could see them ending DC main. And then going 'here's more DC that may or may not have taken place while Conan was still around'#Just to keep the anime going indefinitely without putting off whatever ending the manga will get around to#(Which does come with an assumption from me that Gosho will end with Shinichi not being Conan anymore)#(When technically the manga could end more open and just have the BO plot be taken care of and the truth out with a 'antidote eventually')#(It's mostly because of the romance subplot that makes me think Gosho will have Shinichi be himself again)
