Obito and Rin's relationship
I just read a text from a user talking about ObiRin and honestly, I was impressed that there were 6 shares and almost 80 likes on the comment. I wonder: do people even remember what Obito and Rin's relationship was like? Because from people's feedback, I can see that they clearly don't. The comment said that Obito and Rin were not best friends and that Obito's feelings for her were "platonic", and that her behavior towards him was "no big deal". So, I ask you: what does that mean to you? Romantic or platonic love?
So I'm left wondering: Are people really looking at this relationship and not coming to the obvious conclusion that Rin Nohara loved Obito Uchiha romantically and that her feelings for Kakashi were purely platonic due to his prodigy abilities in the same way that Karin and Ino had for Sasuke? This is surreal to me.
Tumblr media
Have you ever stopped to think about the parallels between ObiRin and NaruHina or do you prefer to confirm more information on Wikipedia, where anyone can edit and write whatever they want?
Tumblr media
I don't think that their friendship was platonic, precisely because of the romantic reaction that Obito and Rin had and that was concretized in their reunion scene… making a direct connection with the kiss attempt made by Rin when she was still alive.
Tumblr media
Platonic love is a type of love that involves feeling affection, admiration or even passion for someone, but without wanting to have a romantic or physical relationship with that person. In this sense, I can say that this was the case with Kakashi and Rin, since they literally had nothing special.
Tumblr media
She felt admiration for Kakashi because of his abilities and fame as a genius, but she never tried to kiss Kakashi once and even when Kakashi died, she wasn't there for him, but for Obito she was.
Tumblr media
Pink (meaning): pink means romance (as a primary meaning)
After her rejection, we never saw Rin try anything romantic with Kakashi or even form a solid relationship with him. In fact, their relationship went backwards instead of forwards to something more “meaningful”. They literally became just “teammates” and didn't have the same level of intimacy as she had with Obito.
Obito and Rin's relationship:
Tumblr media
Kakashi and Rin's relationship:
Tumblr media
So when someone tells me that their feelings (Obito and Rin) weren't romantic, even if they didn't show it verbally, you could clearly see that they liked each other beyond friendship, and not something platonic.
Tumblr media
Notice the clear change in Rin Nohara's personality/decision and feelings in these 2 scenes:
Tumblr media
I'm not a “romance genius”, but there are things that are too obvious not to be interpreted as romance. Besides, Kakashi has shown us countless times that what he felt for Rin was pure companionship in various situations. Even after her death, Kakashi saw her as a hallucination and saw her in other girls, but even though he had the opportunity to “date” girls similar to Rin, he never tried anything and never addressed any girl similar to Rin romantically, but rather, totally in a sense of companionship.
Tumblr media
Even though they resembled Rin, Kakashi never even tried anything with any of them and thought of her only as a friend, literally. He himself only used the word “friend” to refer to Rin. As, for example, in episode 354, where Kakashi says: “I couldn't protect my friend.”
Tumblr media
Or even when Sasuke said to Kakashi: “What if I had killed the person you love the most?!”
Tumblr media
And Kakashi's response? “Those people have already… been killed.”
Tumblr media
Kakashi has literally never, at any time in his life, seen Rin in a romantic light. Not before and not after… but Rin? I'm sorry, but it was very clear that she saw Obito romantically, she just didn't admit it to herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So when someone says that Rin and Obito weren't best friends and that she didn't see Obito as a potential boyfriend or even like him romantically, I'm like:
Tumblr media
Obito and Rin were not only best friends since forever, but they also loved each other. It's so obvious that they would have ended up together romantically, that it really amazes me how there are people who actually have doubts about them in that sense. Obito & Rin is literally synonymous with romance and genuine love for each other. There are people who compare Obito and Rin with Kakashi and Guy, saying that their friendship was "similar", but for the love of the gods!!! Honestly, that has nothing to do with it. The friendship between both pairs was VERY different. In Kakashi and Guy you see friendship and rivalry, but in Obito and Rin you see love and romance.
Tumblr media
So I'm sorry, but anyone who compares Kakashi and Guy's relationship with Obito and Rin's is simply clueless. By the way, did Guy ever try to kiss Kakashi? Not that I can recall. Neither Kakashi nor Guy are gay. Besides, it was very clear that Rin's feelings for Kakashi literally disappeared when Kakashi confessed that he abandoned her at the end of the Gaiden saga (she only liked him for his abilities, and only had love and intimacy with Obito).
Tumblr media
And then:
Tumblr media
She could try to disguise it, but I've never seen Rin support Kakashi the way she supported Obito.
Tumblr media
“Rin never loved Obito romantically. She only had eyes for Kakashi! Obito never had a chance with her. He was a failure and Kakashi was a prodigy!” Let's see what Rin thinks about that.
Rin, after waiting 20 years to be reunited with only (Obito Uchiha), left Kakashi, her “love” behind forever.
Tumblr media
It doesn't take much to realize the obvious difference.

Writers Truth & Dare Ask Game
🍄 🍬 ❄️ 🏜️ 🦴
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
got a lot of headcanon asks today in my inbox lol... uh for this ill go with my headcanon about Tenten not being without family since ive got two asks for that levels thing i reblogged earlier to answer
so my hc and how i usually approach Tenten is that she comes from a weapon smithing clan. Her clan originally came from Dragon Kingdom, but like... so, so long ago. like a thousand years ago. they were originally trading in what is now Fire, and eventually some started to settle instead of going back to Dragon Kingdom. They established themselves as blacksmiths and as times changed, became weapon makers almost exclusively. Her clan still makes other things besides weapons, but they specialize in weapon making.
Tenten lives with her grandmother since her parents died during Obito's assault on Konoha with the kyuubi. Tenten's clan lives in the industrial district of Konoha, and Neji (who is alive thank you) moves there after he and Tenten have been dating for a bit.
Tenten, of course, prioritizes fighting with weapons, but she also is a good smith herself, and does a lot of unique work with weapons.
I gave Tenten's clan a name, of course, so her family/clan name is Nie, which means 'pattern of a sword blade'.
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
drawing a blank beyond all my usual things like gaara being obsessed with naruto being stupid or like the way ppl generally approach Gaara is ableist and disregards his history prior to Yashamaru tryna kill him or lee not being anbu/akatsuki/hokage etc and also ppl making lee sexy is stupid like he's weird looking and thats fine and i think his weird looks are charming and cute... all of which ive talked about before
um i guess ill say that sakura being self-centered is actually a really important and interesting character trait. it doesn't make her an awful, irredeemable character, it's just a character flaw and i think ppl who love her tend to ignore that about her because the people who absolutely hate her are always callin her a bitch etc. like i love sakura but she can be a bitch and i think that's interesting and okay and like if you really like a character you can lean into their flaws without that being like a condemnation of the character. she doesn't have to be like sunshine and daisies to be a good character
❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?
the dream theme/plot for a fic is one i'd probably just write myself. not like for any reason other than if i have an idea i usually wanna execute it myself, and at this point a lot of my ideas exist within the worldbuilding ive done and not that other ppl dont or cant but my interest are always gonna lean more into the political spectrum of storytelling and i think that's generally my niche and not as many ppl write those stories.
i think if there was absolutely something i didnt wanna write id honestly probably not wanna read it either, so im always like shit at answer these kinda questions cause once i have an idea im like 'ok ill write that someday'
🏜️ ⇢ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
always gonna love long comments that talk about the themes of the story, that bring up things the reader thinks is foreshadowing, direct lines from the fic, and so on. i like when ppl are like rlly analyzing what ive written and telling me their thoughts and what they think is gonna happen. i think by far my fave thing is ppl tryna guess what's coming and seeing how close or how far off they are, and when ppl do pick up on foreshadowing that is just... chef's kiss.
🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
i find inspiration in a lot of things and it rlly is gonna depend on what im writing at the time. sometimes i get inspired by music (a lot of my gaalee fics were originally inspired by Florence+the Machine song for instance), sometimes it's like a poem or a book, or a tv show, but it rlly is always gonna depend on what im writing.
but my perspective is that art begets art. art is always in a state of inspiring more art, whether its the originating artist being inspired by their own work or another being inspired by their work, i think art is at its core always birthing more art.
with fic i dont think i could pinpoint one single thing that's inspiring me at any given moment, but i am often being inspired by other things whether it's music or just like an article about something.

Sunlights Warmth
prompt: True Loves Kiss
Words: 1207
@kakagaievents
Tumblr media
“You have to kiss me,” Gai looked over the bottle he had just spun, grinning at Kakashi while their friends stood all around them watching. “That’s what the bottle says.”
As if Kakashi could have forgotten. He’d watched the bottle spin between them, whizzing past every other person until coming to a stop, pointing its nozzle directly at Kakashi.
He still wasn’t quite sure why he had agreed to partake in this game. Kissing wasn’t something he made a habit of doing with just anyone.
In fact, to date he’d only kissed two other people before Obito.
Yugao, who he’d kissed on a desperate last second attempt to keep their cover after she’d said something that could have tipped off their target to their true intentions. She’d slapped him as soon as they got back to Konoha and told him to think of some other way to deal with her mistake next time.
The other kiss was far more passionate.
A sweet moment shared between him and Rin shortly before the day she died. A moment he’d granted her when she asked, hoping against all odds that there would be fireworks, or something. Anything that would allow him to return the love she so freely gave to him.
It hadn’t worked out, and it was the first time since Obito’s death that he’d seen her cry.
Now it was time to disappoint Gai, just as he had done with Rin.
To kiss him, just as he had done with the other two, and feel nothing in his cold, broken heart.
“Come on,” Asuma struck a hand across his back and laughed when he glared at him. “It won’t be so bad. I bet Gai tastes like dango.”
“Or curry,” Anko piped up. “Or maybe he tastes like Ramen. He did have some for lunch.”
Kakashi could do little but roll his eyes at the comments. Whatever Gai tasted like didn’t matter to him because at the end of the day it would end the same as it always had.
An empty feeling in his chest that would confirm what he’d already learned from Rin and Yugao. That he was incapable of Romantic love.
“Kiss!” Gemma lifted his drink up into the air and laughed. “Kiss, kiss, kiss!”
“Alright, alright,” Kakashi couldn’t believe he had agreed to this, but he was stuck now. There was no choice but to kiss his best friend otherwise the others would never let him hear the end of it. “Gai?”
“Ready when you are, Rival.” Gai beamed, as excited for this as he was for any of their challenges.
Now or never.
Taking a deep breath, Kakashi tucked a finger under the top of his mask and yanked it down as he leaned in. Mentally, he’d prepared himself perfectly for this moment. Gone through every possible scenario he could think of and ensured he wouldn’t do anything embarrassing.
Only when Gai’s lips met his did he realise his mistake. His failure to account for the exact scenario he found himself in.
Oh.
A pleasant, warm feeling bloomed in his chest. As if he was being dipped directly into sunlight.
His gaze locked on Gai, noticing right away that he’d already closed his eyes and submerged himself straight into this feeling.
Comfort.
Familiarity.
Love.
All of those words buzzed through his mind, taunting him as he stared directly at his best friend's face. Took in the sight of Gai’s soft expression while they lingered there, locked in a kiss that Kakashi hoped never ended.
The heat spread. Moving up from his stomach and touching his cheeks. Gathering in his face until he felt like he was overheating.
At this moment Kakashi couldn’t imagine anything more beautiful than the man in front of him. The curve of Gai’s eyes seared into his mind, a treasured memory that he would cling to for the rest of his life. The feeling of his lips, which tasted nothing like ramen or dango but instead something new. Something unique to Gai. All of it made its home in his memories.
Precious, beautiful moments that he was certain would get him through even the darkest days.
“Aww, cute,” Anko snickered. “He’s blushing.”
Panick.
Wrenching himself away from Gai, he grabbed his mask and yanked it back over his face in a desperate attempt to cover bright red cheeks.
“I-“
“I knew it,” Asuma stretched a hand out towards Genma. “Cough up the Ryo.”
Genma grunted his disapproval. “Damn, the one time I was relying on your Kakashi,”
Kakashi might have rolled his eyes or made a snarky comment about not relying on others if it were any other day. If he was doing anything else.
In this moment, though, he could only lower his eyes in shame.
“I-“
“Ramen?” Gai asked, the grin on his face even widder than it had been before. “Did I taste like Ramen like Anko said?”
He simply shook his head.
“Ih, then dango!” Gai cheered. “That would make the most sense. Dango is my favourite food.”
“Uh, Gai,” Kurenai poked him in the side and chuckled when he let out a loud yelp. “Sorry.”
“What was that for?”
“Well,” lofting a hand, she extended a slender finger and pointed towards Kakashi. “I think you broke him.”
“Broke him? My eternal rival?” Gai almost sounded offended on his behalf. “I could never. Kakashi is the coolest person in all of- uh, Kakashi?”
He’s not really sure what happened next. All he knows is that the warmth in his face was begining to overwhelm him. As if he was standing in the middle of the desert with the blazing sun beating down at him.
An appropriate comparison to make, he thought. After all, Maito Gai was like the sun itself.
Bright, warm, always there for him.
“Kakashi!”
A cold hand came down hard against his forehead and it was only then that he realised he’d fallen over. All of his friends' faces hovered over him, each with their own worried expression.
There was only one he cared about, though.
Once he couldn’t drag his eyes away even now, with the ceiling hanging over him and an overwhelming heating burning his very soul.
“I-“
“Do you need someone else to kiss you?” Asuma teased. “I think Gemma is up to the job. “
“No.”
“Anko.”
“No.” He grunted when Anko responded by slapping his stomach.
“Would you like Gai to kiss you again?”
Kakashi thought about it for a moment. If Gai kissed him again maybe he’d feel that pleasent warmth again. The one that enveloped him and made him feel wanted.
Loved.
“…maybe.”
Their faces disappeared suddenly, every single one except Gai’s, and laughter rang through the air. Kakashi didn’t care, though.
Gai was there.
He was looking at him.
“One more,” his rival smiled down at him. “For good measure.”
“For good measure,” Kakashi agreed while Gai tucked a finger under the top of his mask and yanked it down. “Just one more.”
Love.
That’s what it was.
When Gai leaned down and kissed him again, there was a feeling of  love that squeezed his heart so tight it hurt.
A feeling that Kakashi would happily chase for the rest of his life, even if he didn’t deserve it.

(I’m sorry this wouldn’t all fit in the tags)
Okay so just my opinion on a way it could go down
(Very long post under the cut)
A Uchiha clan lives au
Sasuke is an honestly really happy an positive/optimistic kid (I’m gonna compare his attitude to canon Naruto’s) but occasionally we get to see moments where we realise how much pressure he’s under from his parents after his brother disappeared and never returned (in this au itachi couldn’t complete his mission to kill his clan and so he ran away from the village in the dead of night and became a rogue shinobi, no one ever found out why so they just assume he’s either dead or a deserter, either way Sasuke becomes the only son and his father puts all of his high expectations on him and he’s struggling with his allegiance to his clan and village a lot like itachi), kakashi will still be team sevens sensei (he is exactly the same trauma filled mess he is canonically, and as such he is a train wreck with train wreck students but hey it works out in the end, but also he still has the one sharingan, but he has to teach himself to use it because the uchiha clan hates him for stealing obito’s eye and they don’t think he deserves it, so they hate him and treat him worse than scum, they petition the hokage to Sasuke moved off his team because of his but third refuses in one of his few half decent acts, so Sasuke and kakashi have some issues but get over it eventually) (side note: itachi was once asked by the clan to steal Kakashi’s eye because they were together in anbu, in a rare show of spine from itachi he refuses, citing how valuable kakashi is to the village)
Naruto (who will be red headed because I said so and they said all of the uzumakis have red hair and I’ve decided he should too, it also increases his relation to negative later on and I want even more obvious parallels between them) has his canon backstory but the bullying took a lot more of a toll so he has a lot of sasuke’s canon attitude, aloof but also just kind of angry and mean, (maybe here he also knows why the villagers scorn him, or at least has put together some context clues from how he’s treated, and he knows getting angry will only make him more like nine tails, so he spends a lot of time trying to repress his emotions so they just blow up later)
Sakura stays basically the same, except she doesn’t have a crush on anyone, so some of her craziness and jealousy aren’t really present (she’s still kinda boy crazy, but it’s like a new guy every week and no one can keep them straight, she kind of grows out of the weekly crushes eventually as she becomes more serious about her training) so she seems more chill in that regard, acting a lot more like an irritated sibling with both Sasuke and Naruto (inner Sakura is definitely a thing, mostly just a way more extreme version of her current frustration) and she’s a lot more of a girls girl because her and ino were never driven apart so they stayed besties forever (she still cuts her hair just as a pledge to start training harder and keep up with everyone and has nothing to do with Sasuke, ino does it with her in camaraderie)
Inoshikacho stays exactly as they are because they are wonderful perfect babies and I love them (without the Sasuke crush for ino)
For a little bit of spice, neji and hinata switch so that hinata is older and more experienced like neji as the next hyuuga heir, and neji is younger and trying to learn from hinata, he’s still branch and she’s main, but he’s okay with the fate laid out for him as her protector but hinata isn’t, she absolutely fucking hates the idea of him dying for her and she regularly fights her father about it, it’ll get to the point where neji dies for her in the war and hinata is so devastated that she comes home and completely changes the family structure, finding a way to disable the crest/seal on their foreheads and declares that both families are one equal one now and everyone can get over it, her father fights her so hard on it until she reminds him of his brothers sacrifice and he relents to let her do as she pleases
On that note, team gai and team kurenai switch places, so kurenai is the older team that held back a year from the exams and all of them are older and only slightly more experienced than the others (also, in this au, Shino was taken to the root instead of his cousin, he eventually leaves to become part of kurenai team while technically spying for danzo but he quickly decides he likes these people a whole lot better than the root, kakashi recognises him from his time in anbu and gives kurenai and warning and uses his old anbu contacts (Yamato) to get him officially transferred to lord thirds anbu and then discharged so that he’s officially a genin with team kurenai), their personalities (besides hinata being a lot more confident and not crushing on Naruto) stay the same, team gai is a year younger and leaves school with the rest of the teams, and their dynamics are pretty much the same (except neji being less proficient and still learning and a little less cold and angry, though still somewhat with some of the coldness that comes with being part of their clan)
So some additional story notes
Because Sasuke isn’t traumatised the same way, he doesn’t run with orochimaru, choosing instead to stay a learn from kakashi in spite of his fathers orders (kakashi also knew a fair deal more about itachi in this au, so eventually he tells Sasuke what really happened on that mission and Sasuke resolves to hunt down his brother, his team refuses to let him go alone, so kakashi convinces Lord third (who is still alive for a bit because orochimaru had no reason to come destroy the leaf if he isn’t recruiting Sasuke) to make it an official mission to track him down. Along the way they find tsunade when one of them gets injured, and Sakura bullies her into training her, so they leave and travel around while tsunade teaches her medical ninjutsu and Sakura definitely doesn’t pick up her gambling habit (she’s way more subtle about it tho) and tsunade sees Naruto and the fox chakra thing and recommends jiraiya and then helps them track him down, and they convince him to train Naruto and they disappear for a bit to mount miyoboku (Naruto is really reluctant to leave Sasuke but he does after Sasuke convinced him to go) where he finally learns to talk to kurama while he controls nature energy, he already found out about the fox and what happened from kakashi, and when kakashi found out he wasn’t being taken care of he was more than a little angry about it, (he didn’t know because he basically wasn’t in the village during his anbu tenure and when he was he was avoiding the shit out of his mentors kid because he was expressly forbidden from talking to him about the incident or who his parents were because he was told it would help him have a normal childhood, lies lies and more lies, kakashi eventually apologised and explained everything he knew and told him stories about both of his parents and how they helped raise him and he gave him every picture and note and everything he could dig up of them, Naruto felt like he really knew him after that)
So then it’s just kakashi and Sasuke on this mission to find his brother and they do, as part of the akatsuki, itachi wants nothing to do with his brother he abandoned or the captain he disappointed, luckily for him they are easily pushed away by mean words (kakashi didn’t believe that shit talk for a second) and he explains that after he left he had to do something, and he thought the best way he could protect the village was by infiltrating the akatsuki and finding out what they were up to, they’re after all the jinchuriki including Naruto, Sasuke vows not to let them get him and they go back (itachi stays to continue collecting info) and find him to tell him what’s happening and why he has to stay hidden for three years while he trains
Sakura returns with lady tsunade in tow and tsunade is convinced to take over the position of hokage after third dies peacefully in his sleep (no one can prove that isn’t what happened /hj)
So now we’re basically on track with the series and it will play out pretty similarly (no one besides the konoha twelve really change all that much, except itachi I guess) only Sasuke is with the village so orochimaru is a player in the game but he’s kind of background and just another antagonist to deal with
It all plays out basically how it happens in the show after this, Naruto is still definitely the main character even if my post is mostly about Sasuke I promise
What Would You Do With the Konoha 12?
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve attempted to rewrite Naruto in the past and one of the first blockades I found was, surprisingly, how many different interesting directions the different characters could be taken in.
Let’s take Sakura Haruno for example. Would you keep her a medic ninja, a genjutsu master, a wood release user, or something else? Would you lean into how emotional she is or would you make her less sensitive over time? Would you make her a civilian child or from a prominent clan like Sasuke and Naruto? Would she keep Inner Sakura? How would you handle her rivalry with Ino, if you keep it, and her motivations? How would you handle her relationship with Sasuke? Would you lean into her femininity or make her more of a tomboy? Would you make her more like Naruto like in the original or would you try to make her more of the earth to Naruto and Sasuke’s sun and moon or some secret third option? And there are many more questions and decisions you could make with her character and role in the story, of course.
Because there are so many options for all of the Konoha 12 (plus others, but let’s not get in over our heads), I’m curious to see what choices different people might make. And now that I have an account on a very creativity-driven website, I can ask. So,
What would you do with/How would you write the Konoha 12 if you were rewriting Naruto?

Note
so i had this concept idea of aging up Kushina/Minato a little and having them have Naruto waaaaaaaaaay earlier in canon. im calling it the
like as in he's 1 year younger than kakashi earlier. They're still pretty young when he's born (a bit of an oops-baby who they love entirely). If you can't tell, this changes everything.
He grows up and is mostly home-taught, but he goes to the Academy eventually to officially be a shinobi- but before that, he meets Kakashi (who wanders and trains when his father leaves for missions), who is confused and provoked and very curious about this tiny highlighter yellow toddler who he finds alone in the playground and who INSISTS on following him around everywhere.
So the thing about Naruto in this au is that he has the Yang part of the kyuubi, and Kushina (although weakened) hangs onto the Yin part of the kyuubi. Because of this, naruto ends up having a borderline photographic memory, which means he remembers kakashi, and is ALSO curious about him. He is also dependent on the Kyuubi's chakra, which means MORE changes, because despite Jiraiya and Minato's sealwork together, it would never be as iron tight as the canon sealwork.
They meet a couple more times before Sakumo comes back from his most recent mission, and imagine the old man's surprise when his son comes home with little friend! He's delighted, first, and then Naruto starts barging in at random. theyre not quite friends, but they're not... not friends.
Kushina's the one who notices her outgoing tiny kit starts leaving the house more and more often, and she's the one who meets Sakumo and kakashi first.
there's filler and bonding...
...and then Sakumo fails the Suna mission. And then despite Kushina's hardest attempts at keeping the man mentally stable, he dies. She can't be there every moment of the day, and it's one of the few weeks where she was deployed for a war mission.
Naruto is the one who finds Kakashi and Sakumo, and is also the one to basically kidnap him when Kakashi falls into depression- Minato, who was the one to stay behind to look after his son, does not discourage this. Kakashi doesn't officially live with them, nor is he adopted- but he's over more often than not. He keeps the compound, throws himself into training, and Naruto does the same (though he has to wait a year before either of his parents allow him into the Academy).
Naruto, as he isn't part of Team Seven (minato version), is an entire cryptid to them. He's crazily skilled, but they're pretty sure they would've recognized him if he were in their class? They don't know his name? Sensei is really weird about it when they ask about him? Obito and Rin are going crazy over who he is and why eternally stoic Kakashi actually responds with enthusiasm to this tiny feral gremlin (obito and rin are both two years older than Kakashi, who is currently 8/9ish vs their 11/12ish. Naruto graduated the same year as them, idk im working on the timeline).
i havent decided if I want to keep Rin alive or not yet (leaning heavy on the not because i have plans for naruto and kakashi being borderline codependent), but Obito definitely does "not" survive despite Naruto appearing to help out during Kanabi Bridge-
PART ONE
Oh I love this! It sounds like an excellent AU basis that would have massive ripple effects on canon and would allow you to take things in so many different directions depending on what you want

for the 300 followers event, can you write a hurt/comfort (but emphasis on the comfort) fic for kakashi, rin, and obito? maybe like something went bad on a mission and now they’re recovering together, but whatever you want is cool. also congrats on the 300 followers!! i love your writing so much
knocking out two birds with one stone here, written based on discussions with @caninekakashi about akatsuki obkkrin :3333
They’d all come to join the Akatsuki at different times. Obito first, of course; he was the one who helped Yahiko, Nagato and Konan bring it to fame.
But before it had even been on track to fame came Rin. In the rain, after the massacre, the moon reflecting a symbolic bloody red between the ripples of the water.
Obito kneeled down, picked Rin up under the knees and neck, lifted her. Nearly dropped her when she gasped, eyes flying open and grabbing his cloak with her hand.
She coughed and wheezed, wrangling herself free to collapse onto her side and hug her middle, vomiting saltwater while the hole in her chest closed.
“Rin,” Obito whispered, voice cracking even then. He dropped to a kneel, resting a hand on her shoulder, unwilling to watch her die a second time; she had to live. She looked at him with red sclera and yellow irises, and chakra pulsed unsteadily from the seal on her stomach. It was a faulty seal based on the shaky waves of powerful chakra.
“Obito,” she wheezed, and his decision was made in that moment then. He picked her up again, and Guruguru shed from his body.
“She won’t survive,” it said, with absolute certainty. “You’ll be back.”
“Maybe,” Obito agreed, knees wobbling now that he’d lost his extra strength. “But not yet.” He warped away, headache doubling in strength, into what he needed most: a space away from it all.
He laid Rin down on the ground, resting a hand over her heart; it beat with a steady thrum, coupled with the tailed beast’s chakra warping her own. It was disturbing, the tight control that Rin usually had over her chakra gone, but it didn’t hold a candle to the anger he felt towards Kakashi in that moment.p
His hand, through her chest. The way he ripped her so carelessly off, and let her drop into the mud.
He’d known Kakashi to be mean, even cruel at times. But this was a new low. He wouldn’t be upset if his teammate died in the rain that same night.
Rin, ever honest, explained the situation to Obito. She’d been the one to jump, to put herself in Kakashi’s way, to impale herself on his arm. At first, Obito didn’t believe it; it was dishonorable to cover for a teammate who had betrayed you, tried to kill you. But Rin grew sad every time he argued as much, and all he could hear when he thought of Kakashi were his painfully blunt criticisms, the honesty in his eyes. (The fear, fear, fear that Obito just barely caught a glimpse of, before apathy overtook his features like he’d seen so many times before).
He watched Kakashi with Rin, just checking up on him every once in a while. With their new lives, free of responsibility except for the Akatsuki (and the moon and the plan and the tailed beasts and—), it was easy to see how the world hurt Kakashi. How it had hurt them. How it hurt everyone, how it needed to be fixed.
Minato put Kakashi in ANBU, to watch over Kushina, and given purpose again, Kakashi flourished. He wasn’t better, but he observed the bugs with an understanding he’d never had before.
(He was too happy. It was going too well. Things needed to change— “Don’t you want to make things better for them?” it asked. But, “This won’t solve any problems.” He stepped forwards anyway, and it grinned, mocking his inconsistency. “You’re lying to yourself,” it said, and the pillars of purpose that had been so carefully reconstructed under the wolf’s paws were ripped away, leaving him a reflection of his bones and his desires.)
Kakashi joined them after the Kyuubi broke free and nearly destroyed the village. He almost didn’t because he tried to stop Minato from carrying out his plan, That Seal, because he was so broken from the sacrifices his precious people made, from the way they continued to leave him.
Obito swirled him into Kamui before he could interfere, and then back out into the forest on the opposite side of the destruction. “Kakashi,” he said urgently, scared. He removed his mask, ignoring the sudden pain in his heart, making the hitch in his breath as subtle as possible.
Kakashi wouldn’t have heard it anyway, or maybe he did, but there would be no way to tell because he shook so violently, two opposing realities colliding in a mental shock so violent he couldn’t control himself.
He curled in on himself like a pill bug, fingers gripped in silver locks tightly, as if that would keep him from flying away. He mumbled, something about not being real, about dying, and dying and dying and dying and dying and
Obito grabbed his hands and pried his fingers from his head, ignoring Kakashi’s pleas to stop, growing to shouting at the top of his lungs. He didn’t stop until Obito made him look, made him see, and then he broke.
It was disturbing, just as it was to see Rin’s loss of control, to see Kakashi’s. He shook apart in his arms, loosely gripping at his cloak, too scared to take any more than what had been given. So Obito hugged him close instead, cradling Kakashi’s head against his shoulder. He warped him away to Kamui, where Rin was because being on the scene of the attack sent Isobu into torrential waters.
She gasped when she caught sight of Kakashi, immediately kneeling down next to him to grab one of his hands in her own. He glanced, eyes widening, and took his hand back.
Just like that, it was as if he’d been composed the whole time. He still shook, tears still rolled down his face, but he seemed unable to cry anymore.
“Hi,” Rin said weakly. “I’m sorry we didn’t come for you sooner.”
“I’m dead,” Kakashi said, voice hollow. That was all he could say.
“You’re not,” Rin insisted, opening her cloak and pulling one side of her shirt down enough to show the scarring; the proof Isobu had left her with, undeniable. It was then that Kakashi seemed to register Obito’s scars, looking at him with a furrowed brow.
They’d survived. Both of them.
He blinked fresh tears from his eyes, and Rin smiled and grabbed his hand again. This time he squeezed back, consent in itself, and she pulled him close. She dragged Obito in too, and they wrapped themselves around each other, clumsy and crying and still trying to parse the fear from the reality.
Kakashi never went back to Konoha. There wasn’t a whole lot for him to go back to, with Minato and Kushina dead. Their newborn son would be cared for by Gai, to some extent, because they all knew too well the treatment of an orphan in Konoha. Gai accepted Kakashi’s leave with a boisterous, “Farewell, Rival!” and lots of manly crying and promises to never forget him. Obito wasn’t sure Gai could be trusted to keep their secrets, but Kakashi assured him that he would. He had no reason to spill them.
They left, and they grew, and the Akatsuki spread their services to more villages in need of help. Obito continued with the plan, and
(Kakashi and Rin talked, hushed voices and hidden hand signs. Always behind Obito’s back, always like they were stressed. Obito joked about a surprise party once, and Rin jsut gave him a cryptic smile. Obito couldn’t tell if he’d pinned their plan or not.
He continued his meetings with Zetsu, unwilling for reasons he couldn’t figure out because didn’t he want to make things better for his friends? Didn’t he want to make things perfect for them? He was sure he did. That’s why he had to keep working on the plan. For them.)
Years passed like this, and it was when he was 20 that he realized he was very, very wrong.
Kamui was his safe space; his place to escape when things got to be too much, or he needed to think.
For now, it was being used as an open-heart surgery operating table, where he was very not relaxed and very not safe.
Kakashi had his hands pinned over his head under his knees, hands braced on his shoulders to keep him still. Rin sat on his hips, leaning over his torso to remove the seal. She couldn’t work fast, because it was tedious work and Obito’s thrashing wasn’t doing them any favors, but of course he couldn’t stop.
“Do it!” he yelled, tears streaming down his face. “Hurry, Rin, hurry!”
Kakashi growled and increased his force, making Obito increase his thrashing in turn. He twisted his hips violently, dislodging Rin from her perch and kicking his legs up in an attempt to escape. Rin did her best to scramble back, landing a hand on Obito’s hip before the explosion happened. Mokuton, in a small burst around himself, spikes shooting from the ground to impale themselves into his partners (attackers, they were attacking him, hurting him).
Kakashi let out a shout, breathing turning ragged. But he didn’t relent from his grip, rather dug in harder, fingertips bruising in their grip.
Obito stopped, just momentarily, when blood spattered across his side. Rin stared, a Mokuton spear stuck straight through her heart. She tried to gasp, couldn’t, and coughed up more blood onto Obito’s side.
“No,” Obito said, lips barely moving. “No, no, no, no—“
“Sages,” Rin spat, red chakra bubbling around her. “Oh, sages,” she groaned, one weak hand gripping the Mokuton spear and snapping it in half. She yanked it free from her chest, heaving and curling in on herself, before the skin began to knit itself together. She dropped forward onto her hands, the red chakra surrounding her like a cloak. Three tails sprouted from the base of her back and, before Obito could react, clamped down onto his legs and waist, rendering him immobile with Kakashi still restraining his arms.
The seal kicked in again, pulsing, and Obito tried to thrash, to form any sort of seal. Kakashi yelled when he tried to grab at his knee to move it, wordless and loud. He jerked his head down to look Obito in the eyes, his own wild and wet. “You’ve gotta fucking stop,” he seethed, pinching hard into the meat of his shoulder. Obito did, his own willpower overpowering the seal for just a moment, and his hand went slack. Rin jumped in then, sclera red and irises yellow, a haunting callback to the first time she’d been stabbed through the heart. It was enough to jerk Obito back into action, jerking as much as he could, until Rin slammed a hand onto his chest; he was completely immobilized.
“Sorry,” Isobu said through her mouth, and Rin turned to the side to cough up a mouthful of seawater.
“Almost done,” she said, weaving the chakra in a way only she could, plucking out the seal on his heart. He couldn’t feel the pain, but oh, he was feeling pain. He screamed with it, the separation of his two minds, ignoring Kakashi’s snarl above him to violently jerk his plant arm free, losing his hand in the process. Kakashi jerked to try and catch it, but Obito was already shoving Rin aside with a chakra-enhanced push, sending her rolling back a few feet. Kakashi grabbed his arm and restrained it again, breathing hard, too hard, and they waited in tense anticipation.
At the same time Obito realized he felt no need to fight, Rin thrust her hand into the air with the seal between her fingers, then crushed it to pieces. The tails retreated from their grip on Obito’s legs and he relaxed, making sure to at least retract the Mokuton from the explosion.
Kakashi cried out loudly, though, doubling over in pain. Rin, attuned to any of their sounds of pain, was next to him in a flash, chakra at the ready.
“Thigh,” was all Kakashi said, breathing so uncontrollably that he was drooling, hands clenched into fists on the floor.
Rin got to work immediately, barely acknowledging the half-retreated Mokuton before she was knitting the muscle back together where the spike had gone through his leg.
Let it be said that healing wasn’t a painless process; to be able to feel the muscle knitting together at a hundred times the speed it would normally was painful; Obito knew this from the way his own chest was knitting itself together, courtesy of the First’s cells. He reached up and grabbed Kakashi’s hand, and they squeezed each other tight until the Mokuton was completely removed, Kakashi’s thigh was entirely healed, and Obito’s impromptu open-heart-surgery wound was closed.
Rin rested her hand on top of Obito and Kakashi’s joined hands, looking very tired, and the gesture alone was enough to send them into an exhausted laughing fit, separating their hands only to collapse on top of each other.
And in the fall of the emotions, the adrenaline, what Obito had done to his partners hit him. He tried not to cry, really, because they had just done so much good for him, but they were both laying on his chest and abdomen, so of course they noticed when he lost control and sharply inhaled a breath.
Both their heads picked up and turned towards him and he lost control completely then, breaking into a sob.
“What? What’s wrong?” Rin asked, pushing herself to sit so she could see Obito. “Are you okay?”
Obito shook his head, lifting one arm to cover his eyes. “I—“ He couldn’t even start the sentence, shaking with his frustration. They were patient, though. “I hurt you guys.”
It didn’t come nearly close to what he was trying to convey, but they understood; they knew of the pain caused by accident, strength too much for their awareness and perception, by ignorance alone. They knew.
“It’s okay,” Kakashi said, laying his head back on Obito’s chest. “Rin healed it. There are no hard feelings.”
“No, I mean—“ He was going to leave them. To “save them,” by cocooning them in their own precious world where they could never be hurt.
“It’s okay,” Rin repeated, leaning over Kakashi to cradle Obito’s face in her hands. When he removed his arm she leaned down to plant a kiss on his cheek, pulling away with a smile. “We knew what we were getting into. And you didn’t hurt us; the seal did. These actions weren’t yours.”
Obito didn’t believe it. He’d used his Mokuton, his hands, to hurt them. He was at fault. They still didn’t know of his plan to abandon them, to sacrifice himself to give them a perfect world. How could he think of doing that to them, especially Kakashi who’d already lost so many to sacrifice?
“It’ll take a while to accept, but you didn’t hurt us,” Rin said, retreating back to her spot. “If you want to make it up to us, you’ll let us cuddle you instead. We’ll forgive you then.”
Obito laughed wetly at that, pulling a chuckle from Rin and shaking shoulders from Kakashi. He tucked a hand under Kakashi’s arm, and Rin reached up to link a finger with his own.
“I love you guys,” he mumbled.
“Love you too,” they said in unison, and they spent all the next day recovering from impromptu open-heart-surgery-and-stabbing.

Note
Idk if you're still taking asks, but Sakura's pov of her talk with Obito when he was in jail would be great.
Kamui Blues prompt request #11 (previous requests), Sakura and Obito have a chat. 775 words, G rated.
(prompts now closed btw; life & work currently eating into my writing time, but I'll make my way slowly through the ones I have!)
“Obito,” Sakura said from the outside of the cell bars.
She was nervous — she was always uncomfortable around him, and it was no different when he was blind and in prison. But she’d wanted to ask him this question for a while, and she didn’t shy away from discomfort.
“Sakura,” he greeted her neutrally. He was sitting at the little table in his cell, eating  dumplings that Kakashi-sensei had brought him. She knew this because she had watched the prison gates from a nearby tree until Kakashi had left, feeling faintly ridiculous for the subterfuge. But she didn’t want Kakashi to be around for this conversation.
“You love Kakashi-sensei,” she began.
He nodded, and he waited.
She had seen it on Turtle Island, how everything in him was oriented to Kakashi. Kakashi’s pain and grief made Obito hurt twice as badly, though he hid this from Kakashi, only showed him care and protection and stability. Kakashi’s recovery had made him glow with happiness and relief. Kakashi’s affection made him awed, soft, as though he still couldn’t believe it was possible.
At the time, she had hated it. How dare he claim to be on their side after his crimes against Konoha, against Naruto. How dare he think to give them guidance to win the war when he had planned the war. How dare he be capable of loving someone when the person who she had loved couldn’t be fixed, couldn’t heal. Couldn’t love in return. (Until he could, of course, and she didn’t begrudge Naruto his love.)
“But you don’t blame me for what I did to him,” she said. “Why?”
Kakashi-sensei and Naruto had never blamed her. But they both cared about her, and they were good people, so as wrong as it was, their acceptance made sense.
How could Obito, who loved Kakashi more than anyone, and who had hated so deeply not hold this against her?
(Someone should hate her at least as much as she hated herself.)
He tilted his head, thinking.
“I might have,” he said eventually. “Obviously, I’m no saint. But I found him safe before I knew what you’d done. He didn’t die because of you.”
Even though he couldn’t see her, he must have guessed her flinch from her silence.
“He died because of me, you know,” Obito said, with a slight smile. “So I understand. I know the guilt. I know how terrible their forgiveness is. And I know how unworthy you feel. These feelings haven’t gone away for me. I doubt they will for you.”
She let herself lean her head against the cell bars, exhaled out a little of her tension. There was some strange comfort in Obito’s words. In having someone understand her.
“What helps?” she asked him softly.
He shrugged. “I’m not sure what will work for you. But for me, it’s always been him. He needed me to accept his forgiveness, so I did. He wanted me to remember myself, to know what it meant to hurt other people, so I remembered. And he wanted me to recover from what that knowledge did to me, so I tried. I’m always going to put what he wants above everything else in life.”
Once upon a time, she had loved Sasuke like that. She had wanted to do anything for him to be happy.
But she couldn’t use that strategy now, and she didn’t want to. She didn’t want to be tethered to a person like Obito was to Kakashi-sensei. Not for a long time, at least.
She pulled away from the bars; stood straighter.
It was okay. She would come to terms with her actions. She would find her own way through.
(She would accept more of Naruto’s hugs, at least. That was a start)
“Thank you, Obito,” she told him. “I’m glad that Sensei has you.”
She turned to leave, and Obito snorted. “That’s it? I thought that you were going to give me some sort of Sensei shovel talk.”
“I think we both know what I’ll do if you ever try to hurt him, or Naruto, or Konoha again,” she said immediately. “Once you’re out of here, I’ll watch you, Obito. I think you’ve changed now, that you won’t try again, but I’ll keep you in check just in case.”
He smiled widely at that, and she could tell she was correct. They did understand each-other. This strange connection, created by the fallout of their horrible decisions from the best intentions.
“Good.” He raised a shoulder. “If you want, I can do the same for you.”
That, too, was a relief.
“Good,” she repeated, and left him to his meal.

so one of you requested this in my inbox, and you used your actual name. you put some personal stuff in your ask that I wasn’t sure you’d want to be made public, so I’m not going to put your name here. but here’s what you asked; I hope this is what you meant 😊
The Akatsuki’s Reaction to A Break-Up
Itachi
Unfortunately, Itachi’s self-esteem is already so low that a break-up for him is something that he prepared himself for more than the relationship itself. He’s the type to vocalize his desire to stay friends with his ex, even if that person doesn’t want the same thing. The first few days after the breakup will be the most difficult for him, but his behavior will be so subtle that the others will barely notice. The most striking and tell-tale sign that he’s going through it will be that this infamous insomniac will actually start sleeping more, even going so far as to take naps during the day. Itachi isn’t the type to seek out the comfort of friends when something like this is bothering him, instead choosing to keep his pain to himself and only briefly talking about it when asked. He’ll eventually pull himself out of his funk and go back to normal, although the scar on his heart prevents him from seeking out another relationship for a long, long time.
Zetsu
Doesn’t take relationships seriously to begin with; if anything, he’s with the other person simply to alleviate boredom/have a good time. When the other person breaks up with him, there aren’t any hard feelings involved on his part, and he bounces back almost as if nothing had happened at all. He’s always been the type to treat his lovers more like friends, and that dynamic will likely continue even after the romantic part has died.
Hidan
Is most likely to be the one to initiate a break-up rather than be broken up with himself. Hidan’s religion doesn’t offer much (if any) room for love and attachment to anything other than Lord Jashin, and being with someone will weigh heavily on Hidan’s mind until he decides to end things. Part of this is actually a sort kindness; he recognizes that to an outsider, his religion can be viewed as disturbing and macabre, and he doesn’t want to drag somebody else into his hectic (and violent) lifestyle. But despite the romantic relationship being over, Hidan isn’t above contacting the other person every now and then for a casual, no strings attached encounter.
Kakuzu
Another one who will be more likely to initiate the break-up then the alternative. There will never be a time in the old guy’s life where money isn’t the bottom line for him, and being with someone else is no exception to that rule. Dates, gifts, time spent with the other that takes away time that could be used to hunt bounties … all of that is costing him. He’ll be as kind as possible to the other person when breaking up with them, but the message is pretty clear. He’ll likely feel mild pangs of regret for several days after the end of the relationship, but in the end he’ll shake it off and carry on with business as usual.
Obito
Oh, God. Obito is someone who feels things very deeply, and being in love with someone is a head rush for him. Obito would never leave someone, no matter how they treated him. Others will recognize this in him and some will take advantage of his sweet and giving nature. When he’s broken up with, he’s absolutely devastated. He won’t leave the house/his room for days, he’ll stop bathing, he’ll barely eat and the things he does eat is mostly junk food or candy … it takes several members of the Akatsuki to rally around him to pull him out of his depression. Konan will be there to comfort and nurture him, Deidara will be there to offer a kind of “suck it up”/tough love approach, and Itachi will offer him empathy (the Uchiha clan is revered for many things, one of the highest among them being their capacity to feel and experience love, so Itachi will be the only one who knows EXACTLY how Obito feels). It’ll take a few weeks, but eventually Obito will go back to the way he always was, much to everyone’s relief.
Kisame
One will always know when Kisame has been broken up with, when he announces he’s going on a trip. He’ll pack a suitcase and take off for an indefinite amount of time. He does this because he needs to clear his head after his heartbreak, and he never wants to burden the others with his pain or his emotions. While he’s gone he won’t really keep in contact with anyone except Itachi, who will call him every day to check up on him. He uses his time alone to sleep, to cry, and, once the initial hurt fades, to wear himself out. Hiking, skiing, mountain climbing, jogging … anything that gets him sweating and his adrenaline pumping is something that he seeks out, in order to distract his mind. He’ll eventually return home renewed and ready to go on, and the others are always happy to see him back.
Nagato
Is a bit like Itachi in that he expects a breakup from the very start, and is so prepared for it that he doesn’t quite feel the impact as strongly as he could. Life is pain, as he likes to tell people, and losing a love is a part of that pain. Doesn’t change his habits any and nobody would even know he’s suffering in any way … except for Konan, who knows him better than anybody. She’ll sit with him and get him to open up about what and how he feels. Konan has always been the only living person in the world that Nagato had cried in front of, and there’s no exception to this rule now. He’ll cry, Konan will hold him, and after awhile the two will spend time watching movies or tv, and slowly easing Nagato into a better headspace.
Konan
Konan is an eraser. When she’s broken up with, or she ends a relationship herself, she wants to forget any sign that the person ever existed. That means throwing out love letters or drawings, that means deleting the person’s contact information from all of her devises. It means getting rid of pictures, it means no more watching shows that she watched with the other person, or going to places they once went to. Her only goal is to stave off hurt by pretending that the other person never existed … although this doesn’t last for very long. After she’s calmed down a bit, she can reach out to the other person and get whatever closure she needs, in order to move on. Konan is also a comfort eater when she’s sad, and will break her diet to indulge in any and every decadent treat imaginable. And she won’t be alone; every single other member of the house will be with her at some point, whether to comfort, or cry, or eat, or trash-talk her now-ex.
Deidara
Deidara is the guy who initially can’t accept a breakup. He assumes the other person is just mad at him for something he’s done, and that their break-up really isn’t an ending at all, but a “short break”. Will send the other person countless messages, flowers, teddy bears, and candy, to try and get back in their good graces. When it finally sinks in that it’s permanent, he’s quite upset about it. He goes over and over in his head all the things that he felt he did wrong, or ways that he just wasn’t good enough. Will call his ex and ask for reasons as to why their relationship didn’t work out, and keep those things in his head, to improve on for his next relationship. Is also the type to make drastic changes to his appearance after a breakup, like dying or cutting his hair, or making changes to his wardrobe. Has to be talked out of his more impetuous urges, like getting a tattoo, by Sasori or Konan.
Sasori
Sasori will be the one broken up with. Not because he treated his partner in anyway bad. In fact, it would be quite the opposite; Sasori would have been uncharacteristically kind, loving and attentive. Always asking his partner how they feel, inquiring about their day, etc. But after awhile, Sasori’s partner will have begun to notice certain … things. Like Sasori constantly touching their face and commenting on his smooth their skin is. Being really pushy when it comes to healthy eating because “it makes your body last longer”. And there will have been quite a few times when Sasori’s partner will wake up in the middle of the night and find Sasori sitting in a chair by the bed, staring intently at them in the dark. The person will eventually decide to leave Sasori, because they start to get the ((sadly correct)) suspicion that Sasori had been making plans to turn them into one of his puppets. Sasori will take the breakup with dignity, but silently lament the fact that more people don’t understand his way of thinking. After all, if you care for someone, why wouldn’t you want that person to last forever?

REWRITING NARUTO ROMANCES SO THEY DONT SUCK
We all know that the romance in Naruto is trash and Kishimoto himself admitted to not knowing how to write female characters and getting embarrassed by romantic scenes…so let’s fix that shit
part 1: NaruHina
(I wrote this down as my notes for the post but I actually like it this way so I’m just copy and paste my raw thoughts lol if you get offended you can write a letter to your local congressman, prime minister, or whoever rules over provinces in other countries)
First let’s shit on the original ship shall we
Naruhina…
- what the fuck was the build up to this relationship
- “I respect naruto and I want to be like him! But I’m too shy to talk to him! I even fainted when I saw him after the blank period! JK I HAVE MEGA HUGE BALLS AND CONFRONTED PAIN TO SAVE NARUTO!!!! Confessed my love and got my ass kicked….then didn’t speak to him until the fourth great ninja war and now we’re married with two kids” what the Fuck
- Also can we just talk about how after Hinata confessed her love…and literally almost died for naruto…he didn’t say SHIT to her after he defeated pain, and it was like she never confessed in the first place Lmfao
- He still liked Sakura! But Sakura always loved Sasuke so wtf
- He even was like “YEAH YEAH” when Minuto asked if Sakura was his girlfriend during the war. Then ten minutes later he’s holding hands with hinata and their love and shit (ft the rest of the ASF) and going up against fucking madara obito whatever… what the fuck
- AND THEN BAM THEY GET MARRIED AWWWWWWWWBWBWBWBLEEHHHH
- It makes no sense bro—people say Sasuke never shows his love for Sakura,…to me, naruto never gave a shit about Hinata, at least not romantically (he literally acted like her existence was forgotten for 3/4s of the show; at least Sasuke always acknowledged Sakura from the start)
- It also feels like narutos crush on Sakura was never resolved (I know that they’re supposed to be shown realizing that they aren’t into each other in The Last but…bro isn’t that way too fuckin late to make sense lmfao) He just suddenly shacked up with Hinata???? Bc her cousin died….Idk man that’s kinda fucked up lmfao
So let’s fucking fix this shitshow
- I get that Hinata is shy and stuff but that bitch is a fucking hyuga SHE IS POWERFUL SO GIVE HER MORE SCREENTIME KICKING ASS
- And can we??? Give her more lines in the first part???? Other than “n…n…naruto….” “N-naruto?” “Naruto!” Like wtf was that dude that shit was way more annoying to me than anything.
- We all know Hinata has thoughts feelings and opinions (as humans do) so let’s have her voice them sometimes okay
- Being shy doesn’t automatically make you mostly mute and constantly stuttering
- That stereotype makes me want to crush skulls bro
- Can we give her some balls before pains fight bc that made no sense
- Like maybe standing up to neji even a little bit and defending herself more during the chuunin exams
- I’m not saying she has to be like “HEY SHITHEAD IM GONNA KICK YOUR ASS” bc that’s totally out of character but she totally could’ve been like “Hey you’re kinda wrong and pls show me respect as a member of your clan and an equal leaf shinobi”
- Also I get that Hinata was inspired by naruto but can we stop making every female character’s rise to power and want to be stronger related to a dude?
- Like fine if she was inspired by him but I think it would’ve been way more of a credit Hinata as a person if naruto simply REMINDED her of that part of herself that’s dedicated to proving her family wrong
- I’m just gonna write this as if it happened this way
- She keeps par with Neji, and does ultimate lose but it makes Neji see that Hinata is actually strong and a formidable opponent
- No more shit eating grins from that ego maniac
- And after Hinata battles Neji, she confronts naruto and thanks him for reminding her of her inner strength
- Naruto, who’s surprised that Hinata is talking to him, is like “yeah, sure thing, hinata. You did great!”
- And that opens the door for their real friendship
- Hinata is someone naruto can confide in about Sasuke, and he trusts her
- Hinata becomes someone that gives naruto compassionate advice, and he cherishes her comforting nature
- Then in part 2 after they’re all a bit older, naruto is kinda like “o” when he sees that Hinata has come into her wOmaNhOoD and he’s attracted to her.
- During the blank period he worked through his feelings and realized he only liked Sakura bc of his rivalry with Sasuke. End of that crap
- But naruto is dense as fuck and doesn’t see Hinata in a romantic way until she stands up for him against pain
- Hinata holds her own against pain for a bit bc she’s powerful in her own right but does get her ass beat anyway bc yk rinnegan and everything
- Naruto loses his shit seeing her cut down in front of him and defeats the last pain
- After naruto gives one of his MOTIVATIONAL SPEECHES and changes nagato before his death, the entire village greets him as a hero
- Instead of Sakura running up to him to hug him in that strangely intimate way that’s out of character bc she doesn’t fucking like him that way
- Sakura gives naruto a good hug and is like “you did it buddy you’re pretty cool ig”
- Then naruto talks to Hinata bc she??? Confessed her love? And took a massive beating for him???
- And they start a sort of flirty relationship where they both like each other but like waaaay too much is going on to actually date
- Like they try to between pains assault and the five mage summit but with the news of Sasukes massive downfall and the bounty on his head naruto is like dude I can’t do this rn
- And Hinata is cool so ofc she understands even tho she’s a bit sad
- And during the war when minato asks if Sakura is narutos girlfriend he says “😅 no dad, we’re just good friends”
- Then he holds hands with Hinata and the village and sings kumbaya to kick the fuck out of madara obito
- Then they get married and shit proceeds as normal
- Except in boruto when everyone returns from the battle in the other dimension she doesn’t run up to naruto first okay she hugs her SON and says “thank goodness you’re safe!” And then hugs naruto and thanks him for his work
God fuck okay I’m done

Note
Hey, really liked your analysis of Hinata. I feel almost the same way about her. Even though generally I dislike female characters who are naturally meek, subservient and pointless with no character arc in any type of media, what made me absolutely hate her character was how she treated Neji. If Kishi wanted to show her arc being developed organically, instead of proposing to Naruto that removes her stuttering and gives her new found confidence (because girls only get confident when proposing to guys 🙄), Kishi could have shown her talking to Neji after he literally told his bitter story on the chuunin exam grounds in front of everyone. She is shown like she is sympathetic but didn't do anything about it. She didn't even talk to him after he was hospitalized. She knew exactly why he was the way he was, and yet she fights him as if it was his fault. She, an heir of the clan, could have asked her father to support Neji, she had some clout. But nope. In fact, it was Neji who apologizes to her in a way, he is the one who trains her and help create a new jutsu for her. What did she ever do for him exactly? And Neji didn't have to help her. She was in the best position to help and understand Neji but what did she do? A lot of fans like her character because she is reserved but kind and sympathetic. She is reserved but a coward. She was not kind towards Neji. He died for her when he didn't deserve to, he had dreams and goals that were much bigger than Hinata's entire existence. She couldn't even see her own cousin's pain and she claims to understand Naruto?? Really??
Even Kishi said she was a pitiful character who only watches from a distance. He deliberately made her that way, no goal, no backbone and no lines. And I think she sucks the most after Danzo.
WoooW!!!! Thanks for the ask, Anon.
[[Hinata and Sakura fans!!!! Please stay away and don't interact. I fucking tagged them properly]].
Even though generally I dislike female characters who are naturally meek, subservient and pointless with no character arc in any type of media, what made me absolutely hate her character was how she treated Neji.
We definitely share the same thoughts on this one, Anon.
I am really tired on most of the media for their poor treatment of female characters.
The last time I was amused by a female character was from 'Game of Thrones', I loved Cersei Lannister, who is an absolute biashhh and Sansa Stark, started out as an annoying rose tinted princess but ended up winning everyone's heart. Both are non-combative, soft spoken and somewhat powerless women in a world dominated by men. But they just didn't let the inconveniences stop them and instead they learned how to fuck that world back and take control. Both are similar and yet very different.
After seeing, such well-developed characters..... For me girls in Naruto series, is blehhhhh..... Nothing to get inspired from them. And I knew it by episode 3 itself. I have no idea how can girls, in real life, treat Sakura as some feminist icon, which makes my skin crawl for number of reasons. If you point her mistakes out in any discussions, they will pull the misogynist card to your face. When in reality, I am also a girl and my world views are entirely different from Sakura or Hinata. There is no way a 12 year old girl would want to look at the Duck of another boy.
And the problem is, They form the majority, I mean people who can connect with Sakura or Hinata. So, as long as girls like them exists, we really should suffer from these crap portrayal I guess.
That's why I advise people that If you want to see a good woman character, Narutoverse is not the place.
Having said that, I find Temari, Konan, Tsunade were better (I mean inside the Narutoverse). Though their motivations or reason to achieve a goal revolve around their men, I find their attitude relieving. Unlike Sakura or Hinata, they don't wet themselves on the sight of the men they love.
What irritates me was, Kishimoto could've easily put a character like Temari or TenTen or Tsunade into Team 7. It would've made my viewing experience a lot better. If he doesn't want the strong girls to take over the attention from his boys, then he should've introduced a meek character like Rin Nohara. She is silent and cute but atleast she was willing to die for the Village and never wetted herself over Kakashi, though she loved him. And she treated Obito like her best friend. But he deliberately made Sakura hateful and he never stopped.
Sakura and Hinata were the lowest of the low, compared to any other side characters. And, in the end, they got the main Character's Ducks without actively doing anything. For me this tells me three things
He was using these girls as a shield to close the hetero normative mouths while in reality hiding those boys true feelings under that shield.
He really hated these kind of girls and constantly showing his hatred on them at every given chance and never redeemed them back.
He knew the target audience’ mindset and he simply caters them by giving them what they need and at the same time writing the important arcs according to his wish.
I think, it’s the combination of all three.
Just to give you an example.
There is this delusional SS shipper Who justifies Sasuke was acting Tsundere throughout the war arc. I mean, come on!!!!
I came across this post because, the Original Poster was an idiot who comes into the anti SS tag and reblogged my content and saying I was wrong... So, I don’t mind sharing that person’s content.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I don’t know where this delusion comes from... It's truly pathetic.
There are millions of idiots who believe in this kind of shit and Kishi is deliberately feeding them with bits and crumbs while making his boys go out and save the world.
These delusional mindset tells us they don’t give a single shit about the story as a whole. They watch it purely for the pretty faces and getting high over them. In this case, Sasuke.
It’s as clear as day that Sasuke didn’t care about anyone other than Naruto when fighting the war. You don’t have to be a shipper but even a non-shipper can point this out. I mean Sasuke wouldn’t have saved Jugo either, if he didn’t come to Sasuke and advice him. Do you think Sasuke would’ve tried to look for Jugo and saved him at all cost???? It’s just that he came to Sasuke and he helps him back. But Sasuke would’ve saved Naruto from the bomb blast even if he was standing a mile away.
So, if these delusions reflects the mindset of the majority of the women audience, then the creator will never try to give anything better but instead give us some low-life characters like Sakura and Hinata.
So, Anon, your expectation for Hinata’s character could’ve been developed much better is just a wishful thinking. Because, Hinata is a character for these kind of people and not for us. And the author deliberately did it.
Really??
For me, this also irked me a lot.
Hinata could’ve tried to talk to Neji about his problems even when he was a child. But she was simply playing innocent when in reality, she is just a coward. Even after the Chunin Exams, there was no apologies from her side, like you said. Because she is from the Main Branch. That hierarchy never changed. If she had the gall, she could’ve easily broken that hierarchy by saying, ‘I want Neji Nii-San to take over our Clan, He is the best candidate for this and I can gladly help him with all my efforts’.  A single line and just 2 or 3 panels, it all takes.
For me killing Neji is where Kishi asking us silently,
Do you really want these pair to happen despite having a blood stain of another character???
Most people said, ‘Yes!!!’, because they don’t give two shits about Neji. As long as Hinata gets Naruto, the main character’s Duck, that’s all there is to it. It doesn’t matter who dies, who lives.
That's why Kishi is shitting on them by making her as a non-existent woman in the Boruto Manga.
Even in real life, there are many hopeless foolish little girls who would do anything for the man she loves. I've seen them and I always stay 2 miles away from them. I mean, they even ditch their own friends and spends her entire time with him and when he dumps her later, she will come back to her friends for consolation. I think Sansa Stark is the best example for this. She started out much similar to Sakura and Hinata, believing in Princes and shit, she even naively betrayed her father for the man she had crush on. But the author made her to learn her lesson in a much painful way and later she came out as a Queen who no longer needed any man at the end. I think, this is called Development.
At the end of the day, Romance and Sex is all that matters. The author knew it. So, he is feeding these girls with some low quality cookies and they are very glad to take and eat it.

More "de-aged Taka and T7 end up in the Warring Clans Era as Founders' wards" AU
“That’s a thing?” you ask. The answer is yes.
Uh. Kind of. Deaging Team Seven for the sake of tossing them back in time for a Founder to adopt is pretty common, but I’m trash for Taka so this AU started with me brainstorming the asshole team.
I am falling more and more in love with the idea of Tobirama ending up with custody of Team Taka somehow. He’s a science dad, but like. Marginally more ethical than Orochimaru.
Everyone around them is like "This is a terrible idea and it's all going to end horribly" and he's just like "Ah, these are now my children."
I've read so many "Team Seven time-travels and is de-aged, get adopted by the Founders" or "a Founder time-travels forward and adopts Naruto, subsequently picking up the others" and they're good but I now want the same plot with an even more dysfunctional collection of... eldritch mishaps? The AO3 feel of "I want this fic I just read, again, but a step to the left so it feels fresh and new"
I'm considering the tent of tranquility idea (courtesy of @sloaners) and I've come to the decision that Tobirama's... probably going to end up with Several Holes in it, and burns, and cuts, because Karin and Suigetsu never stop fighting, and if they're fighting, they're not paying attention to how soon Juugo's going to lose his grip on control.
"Hm. Tobirama?" "Anija." "Where did you get children?" "They showed up." "One of them looks like an Uchiha." "He does." "Two of them are trying to kill each other." "That's normal." "Are the Uchiha going to accuse us of stealing a clan child?" "Probably." "...Tobirama, did you steal these children?" "No."
(It's not kidnapping if they show up and break into your house first.)
(Also none of them are particularly pressed to ditch the Senju and find their clans. Maybe eventually. Not now.)
They’re assholes but Karin is, even at Supposedly Age Three, babbling at Tobirama about proper lab protocol and chemical reactions and isn’t that just the most adorable thing?
Very few people find Karin as adorable as Tobirama does, because Karin knows more ways to kill a person than most adult shinobi, because most adult shinobi don’t know about things like flesh-eating diseases and specialty poisons from the other side of the continent that can only be refined via chemical processes that won’t exist for another three decades.
Juugo is a sweetheart. Best child. Then he loses his mind but it’s okay, Sasuke is there. Do the Senju trust the clearly-Uchiha child to control the much larger five-year-old? No. But they don’t have any better ideas right now, so.
Tobirama: Hm, we should do something about that. Karin: Here’s a list of ideas and things that have already been tried. Tobirama: Thank you, small child. Where did you get this? Karin: ... Tobirama: Fair enough, let’s see what we can do.
Suigetsu is a little terror because not only is he a Massive Jerk but he also has better control over water than most adults. Mostly because he is water. It’s very hard to find him when he’s avoiding chores.
Karin clings to Mito sometimes because Family! and then Hashirama tries to tease Tobirama about being upset that one of his students/children has ditched him. Hashirama ends up moping in a corner because Tobirama snaps at him, unsurprisingly.
IDK if we have like any canon for Touka beyond skill with genjutsu, but going off of the fanon that she used a naginata, I’m going to say that Suigetsu keeps trying to challenge her to Blade Fights and she’s just like Neat, A Tiny Murder Machine.
Sasuke is very quiet for the most part and Dramatically Broods On Rooftops And In Trees and Hashirama is just like YES YOU REMIND ME OF MY BROTHER AND ALSO MY BEST FRIEND and Sasuke hides.
Sasuke does not need another Naruto, thank you.
Sasuke ends up hanging out with Mito, I think? Like yeah, sure, she’s an Uzumaki, but she’s chill and refined and calm and she has really good tea in stock. Sure he has to learn fuuinjutsu to have an excuse to hang out with her, but that’s fine. It’s interesting. Karin does it too, sometimes.
tbh that probably leaves Hashirama to hang out with Juugo? Juugo isn’t great at Excite but he is great at nature so I feel like Hashirama would be stars-in-eyes about Juugo talking to birds the way Hashirama talks to trees, and Hashirama just gets him a chicken coop like HERE. FRIENDS.
But back to the suspected child theft.
Hashirama is like “That is... clearly an Uchiha. They are going to find out, Tobirama! Someone is going to figure out we have--” “Sasuke, show him your other eye. Yeah, the one you cover.” “...” “Okay, go back to playing.” “...Tobirama.” “Yeah?” “That was a Rinnegan.” “You know those rumors that the only way to get a Rinnegan is to mix the Uchiha and Senju bloodlines?” “It’s true?” “No idea, Sasuke won’t tell me anything about his parents other than their names, and he’s three, but even the chance of it being true means we have an arguable claim.” “...that’s not going to be enough to convince the Uchiha.” “The theory is but one weapon of many in the upcoming battle of wits.” “Tobirama--” “Now if you’ll excuse me, Anija, I need to go make sure Suigetsu doesn’t flood the training grounds again.”
tbh I can’t remember who made the original comment in canon about the Rinnegan being achieved via Senju/Uchiha babies but it’s funny to use here so I’ll pretend it’s a common rumor that nobody actually believes
MEANWHILE WITH THE UCHIHA Madara found and took custody of Team Seven and company, mostly because they’re like... jounin-level despite being less than three feet tall.
It involves a lot of Madara going "I want My New Children to love me!" and being sorely disappointed by half of them. Poor fucker got stuck with Naruto, Sakura, Sai, Kakashi, Yamato, and Obito.
(KakaYamaObito are deaged by the time-travel to 10-13ish. The kids are deaged to 3-4. Everyone has memories to just after the fourth war or so.)
Karin sensed T7 and tagalong pretty much the second they popped out of Kamui, and told Sasuke, but he correctly guessed that Naruto would hunt him down eventually, and said they should enjoy the peace and quiet while they had it.
Sai pulls emotionless creepy smiles in an attempt to freak out Madara but since Madara's whole thing initially was "less children in war," he's... mostly just sad. Izuna wants to know who made his brother cry.
Madara makes a vaguely misogynistic comment that's typical for the period and Sakura just. Breaks his tibia.
Naruto is genuinely trying to treat Madara with the kind of respect a caretaker that Attempts To Care And Do Good By Them deserves, because Naruto is a good egg, but he's... three again. Which means he's a Hellion.
The literal toddlers (Naruto and Sakura are three-ish, Sai is four-ish) are, in fact, toddlers, so nobody really expects them to be able to do anything. Nobody bothers to test them beyond the basics of like. Can walk? Can talk? Can maybe hold knife? Like don’t get me wrong, they’re very competent toddlers, but their hands can barely wrap around a kunai. Their bodies are tiny. Their bones only just stopped being soft!
That said, the “tweens” (re: adults who got deaged but Less) have to get tested for their skills. Kakashi downplays himself to what he imagines a semi-competent eleven-year-old to be capable of. He thinks of, like, Neji maybe? Good, but not suspiciously good.
Obito enters an intangible state and refuses to participate. He has a Mangekyo. His body is half-Zetsu. Stop bothering him. He doesn’t want to do anything. They assign him babysitting duty for Team Seven since he can obviously defend pretty well, and Kakashi vouches for his abilities as a fighter.
Yamato decides to try to be just a little worse than Kakashi but at one point he panics and does Mokuton on instinct and now the entire Uchiha compound is screeching because did they just steal a Main Family Senju kid by accident?
Yamato: Should I tell them I was a science experiment? Kakashi: No.
Pranks galore! None of the other time-travelers even try to stop Naruto, except maybe Yamato.
Obito at the Uchiha compound is mostly "I don't want to participate" and then just uses Kamui to be intangible until people leave him alone. If it's not another time-traveler or Madara, he's not interested. He doesn't even care that much about Sai or Yamato, actually, so if it's not an original T7 member, he doesn't care, and if it's Madara, he's just here to make things Difficult.
The Kyuubi wanders up to the Uchiha compound one day and everyone's preparing for a battle, even Madara isn't confident that he can-- [BANG] "KURAMA!" [delighted squealing]
Naruto now has a pet. The entire clan is terrified. Kurama pokes his nose at Naruto's stomach and disappears into the memory of a seal.
Madara, frantically writing a letter to Hashirama "What do I do if my toddler is possessed?!?"
Hashirama: You have a toddler?!?!?! OMG you should organize playdates with Tobirama's kids! Madara: I'M GOING TO QUESTION THAT LATER, PLEASE HELP WITH THE POSSESSION THING
Kurama hunts down Naruto, and the Jinchuuriki situation is very much in the realm of "Dis Mine" Also a bit of "If I'm in the brat, there's at least one Mangekyo user in hearing distance who can and will risk his life to prevent brainwashing. (Kakashi. It’s Kakashi.)
Naruto: Kurama's one of my best friends! Every time traveler: Yeah, that tracks. Madara: [teakettle screeching]
Per @firebirdeternal: I'm just loving the visual of Giant Nightmare Terror Kurama kneeling down and pressing his nose to Naruto's Smol Chubby Toddler self and closing his eyes while Naruto pets him and giggles and every single battle-ready Uchiha is just. "wat"
Everybody else: Cool so Madara adopted a witch Uchiha Elders: We need to be careful of this horrible creature The younger generation of Uchiha: Okay that was weirdly serene and adorable and frankly the brat is really likeable when he's not being adhd as hell I think this is actually pretty dope.
Madara really wants to be a Good Dad but he has no idea how he ended up being "a dad" in the first place. He just! He cares a lot about this random assortment of kids! Some of them are from prominent clans and there should be search parties for the Senju kid with the Mokuton, or the Hatake brat, or the Uzumaki that doesn't look Uzumaki but definitely feels Uzumaki.... and SURE the only Uchiha of the bunch is a stranger who hates him for no reason Madara can come up with, but! He wants to be a good authority figure!
At least the Uzumaki appreciates that he's trying.
Seriously, though, there are clan kids and nobody’s looking for them, what’s up with that?
Kakashi still has a prize copy of Icha Icha and nobody in the Uchiha compound does a thorough check of his reading material until like three months in.
He is blamed for Naruto developing the Oiroke, because where ELSE would a toddler get such ideas? (Yamato and Obito both tell him he brought this on himself.)
Naruto waits until a Big Important Meeting lets out, something about tithes or a merchant contract, and just pulls a Harem no Jutsu in front of the entire group of Elders And Main Family. First he does a Mass Shadow Clone, which makes everyone turn on Sharingan because Fancy New Techniques to steal! Sure, they were late on the shadow clones, but the kid is clearly gearing up for something! The something is Oiroke.
Anime Nosebleeds everywhere. Most of the elders were hit. Izuna was hit. Madara is not bleeding from the nose, but he is very upset about having semi-accidentally sharingan-memorized his weird adoptee’s Sexy Older Female Alter Ego. There is yelling.
Naruto’s like “Oh, I missed some!” and decides to try again with Reverse Harem no Jutsu because there are old ladies among the Elders, and maybe some straight women representing a guild, and maybe some gay guys he missed! Madara is still not bleeding. (He’s very demi and tbh Naruto only would have succeeded if he’d tried to use Hashirama’s face. Naruto does not know this. He just figures Madara is ace like Sasuke and that no variant is going to work.)
Izuna gets another nosebleed and is just like “Well, this is not how I planned on coming out as bi, but--” “Izuna, I literally do not care about you being bi as long as one of us has an heir at some point, I’m more upset about the fact that my child has been corrupted!”
Back in the Senju compound, there is... a lot of screaming, honestly, but every time Karin and Suigetsu start trying to kill each other again, Tobirama just shrugs and tells them not to break anything.
Very easy-going caretaker, really. He's got some very deadly toddlers in hand, but they're still just toddlers.
Sasuke: Yeah, I might want to go see my clan at some point. Suigetsu: Yeah, I might want to go see my clan at some point. Karin, clinging to Mito: Yeah, I want to go see my clan at some point. Juugo: Please never, ever take me to my clan. Ever. Please. I'll stay with Sasuke, thank you.
Naruto breaks out of the Uchiha compound the first time he enters Sage Mode, several months in (it took a while to get the privacy) because he feels Sasuke and lbr if Naruto knows where Sasuke is, nothing will stop him.
The Uchiha clansmen cannot catch the errant toddler. They fail to inform Madara until Naruto is already in Senju territory because nobody wanted to admit the toddler outmaneuvered them.
Naruto wasn’t sure how to get into the Senju Compound safely so he just goes full Kyuubi, bounds over the wall screaming SASUKEEEEE at the top of his lungs, and then shrinks back down to Tiny Brat size so he could hug his Bestest Friend Ever and cling like a limpet while Sasuke just sighs and stares at the wall.
Sakura ran after him.
Sai painted a bird and Yamato dragged Kakashi onto it to chase Naruto, because Kakashi is at a point of zen regarding Naruto's bullshit and fully trusts the kid to not die.
Obito refuses to look up from whatever he's doing and asks people why they think he cares.
“We told you to look after the toddlers!” “Why would you do that? Seems like poor planning on your part.”
Disappears when nobody's looking. Waits until the Ruckus at the Senju compound (where T7 has crashed in to tackle-hug Sasuke and Madara followed in and proceeded to get shouty, and nobody's dead or battling because they're too confused and also it's a comedy) has started to calm down, and then teleports in and demonstrates Mokuton just to make Madara's life harder when the Senju Elders start demanding answers.
His energy is very "I am here to make Madara's life harder" and Madara still doesn't know what he did wrong.
Madara: That brat has a Sharingan! Tobirama: Well THAT one has Mokuton! Obito: Yamato has it too. [angry teakettle noises]
Madara's first response to seeing Sasuke is to turn to Izuna and point aggressively at the toddler while making a tea-kettle noise "He looks just like you!" "He's four, he barely looks like anything!"
Naruto, tugging at Madara's hakama: You need to make a village with Hashirama so I can see Sasuke more often, cuz I don't wanna ditch you guys, but I gotta see Sasuke! He's my best friend! Madara, who is aware that he could fight this child but really doesn't want to, and also knows that a tantrum thrown by Naruto or Sasuke is capable of leveling mountains: Right, yes, we'll get right on that.
tbh Madara wants the village anyway but "The bijuu-whisperer said he wants it to happen" is a great way to push things forward.

Hii, what do you think about the scene where Kakashi says to Sasuke "You only need a reason to hate a person" and "Sakura's not trying or wanting to make you hers" because I recently saw some Sasuke fans hating Kakashi for that scene calling him annoying and saying that Kakashi never understood Sasuke and that he had no obligation to love Sakura. But the truth is I don't understand the hate, Kakashi never forces Sasuke to love Sakura, he just tells him what Sakura feels, and he only said that because he was annoyed by Sasuke's attitude after hearing Sakura's feelings. For me, Kakashi acted like that because there are always other ways of saying and doing things, and it wasn't necessary for Sasuke to put Sakura into a genjutsu. Well I only ask because I need another point of view and I like your analysis
I think Sasuke fan’s are taking out their anger on nothing and twisting Kakashi’s words.
The line that Kakashi says is ‘you don’t need a reason to love someone’ which i see lots of people tear apart but honestly, it’s true? Sometimes you just love someone for no reason, even when they give you reason’s not to love them. Kakashi’s defending Sakura’s love for Sasuke by saying ‘she doesn’t beed a reason to love you. It’s just how she feels’ which is a fact.
‘Sakura’s not trying to make you hers’ is a line i think a lot of them ignore/forget though. I’ve seen a lot of people say Kakashi’s trying to guilt Sasuke into loving Sakura here and that’s not at all the case
Kakashi’s not telking Sasuke to love Sakura. He’s asking Sasuke to stop being rude and ignoring her for no good reason. They’re teammates, at this point they all just worked to save the world from Kaguya together, yet Sasuke continues to ignore Sakura and treat her like she doesn’t matter
Even though him and Naruto ultimately needed her strength to stop Kaguya in her tracks so they could seal her.
Kakashi is asking Sasuke not to love Sakura, but to respect her. To listen to her for just fice seconds and acknowledge her while she’s trying to reach out to him.
I’m not going to say Sasuke had to do any of that. He had a right to his own feelings, but Kakashi was in no way disrespecting Sasuke or forcing him to act a certain way by pleading with him to just be nice to Sakura and acknowledge her. Theg’ve all been through a lot and Kakashi has felt how it is to ignore someone or reject them only to lose them (i don’t think he ever had romantic feelings for Rin, but i certainly think he felt guilty for treating her as a distant friend/someone who he had to protect and little more before she died, and only of his main things is not wanting his students to make the same mistakes he did. It’s why he gets on Sasuke’s case about almost killing Sakura and using a deadly jutsu against Naruto (he knows how it feels to be a friend killer. Also he got on Jiraiya’s case about teaching Naruto rasangan which he immediately tried to use against Sasuke)
Kakashi doesn’t want to control his student’s. He wants them to be better then him
To not make the mistakes that he made
Is he always right when he says the things he does? No. But his word’s don’t come from a place of manipulation or trying to act like him and sasuke ‘understand each other’
They come from a man who has lost so much and who blames himself for those loses (where sasuke has others to blame for his loses) and who does not want to see his student’s facing those same loses. And yes, Sasuke is one of those students. Even after everything they have been through and Sasuke straight up saying he wanted to kill Kakashi, Kakashi cares about him
Sasuke is precious to him, just as Naruto and Sakura are, and as such he wants his students to understand each other and be kind to each other
He wants his students to have the bonds of teammates that he can’t have with Rin and Obito any longer

So long, good luck, goodbye
Sad girl hours today made me think of an AU with my OC when she does not leave the village after Obito dies and instead stays and dies in the Uchiha massacre. Kakashi finds her dead.
Kakashi found her on the steps of her family home. Somebody had covered her head with a white towel and carefully placed her down, both arms straight down her sides. It was completely different to the other dead that lay scattered throughout the Uchiha compound. For some reason, whoever killed her, had made an effort for her.
He fell onto his knees right beside her, fingers grabbing and clutching a still, cold hand. Just yesterday he had seen her briefly, walking by on her way to the academy. She was supposed to be an instructor soon at first only at the school and then eventually with her own team. She had joked about the book series he had recently started reading - a series of romance novels- and he had told her off. Now she was dead. Slaughtered on the steps of her own house.
Too late again, he thought. Too damn late. The red string through Kakashi’s life had always been his failure to protect the ones he cared about. Obito, Rin, Minato, his father and now Sayuri too. A row of dead corpses at his feet.
Her wounds were visible all over her arms. Clearly she had defended herself against something heavy and made of metal. Maybe chains. Kakashi ran his fingers over the bruises. Sayuri would have never gone down without a tough fight. She probably fought tooth and nail against her attacker.
Now that he moved her the towel stlipped from her head exposing her wide opened, dead black eyes. Her hair was unbraided and spread out under her back. Maybe she’d just come out of the bath when the attacker came to their house and she had no time to braid it. He picked up a strand of her hair, spinning it around his finger, the way he had done sometimes, but it felt empty and hollow.
He could feel his head spinning at the look of her. A sharp pain stabbing at his heart, choking him up until he felt like he was drowning without any water. There was no air to breathe. The pain was strangling him to death. An ache he was too familiar with. He’d felt it too many times.
Memories started flooding his mind like a sudden rainfall. The anger in her eyes when he had told her that Obito had died. The night they had spent sleeping next to each other after what had happened to Rin. The worried look on her face when he became ANBU. “Are you sure this is for you?” The day of the fox attack when she’d been with Gai and him, unable to help the village. When she cried at Minato’s funeral for him because she knew he couldn’t himself.
The many nights she had stayed at his place, face next to his feet in his bed, when her family became too much or his nightmares kept him awake. That time he’d first noticed that she’d grown up. Curves and hair and that wild look on her face. “That Tenzo one is in love with you, you know that right?” Maybe they’d been something, someday, in a different time and place. But not this one.
If only Sayuri had been with him last night. If he had invited her over for ramen and a beer, she might still be alive. It would have been so easy to call her in, keep her safe. Now he had broken all his promises to Obito. Neither Rin nor Sayuri had survived.
He wanted to cry. Grief pulling and ripping him apart from the inside out, but he couldn’t. Kakashi had been here before. Crouched next to the dead corpse of a person he loved. Too late to help. He’d cried himself empty in younger years.
“Senpai”, a soft hand placed itself on his shoulder. He almost jerked away from it. “Tenzo”, Kakashi breathed without looking around. “I think you should let her go now”, Tenzo said, softly stroking his fingers over Kakashi’s shoulder. “ANBU operatives are collecting the corpses to prepare them for a funeral.”
Kakashi clutched Sayuri's hand even tighter to himself. “Why was ANBU not called?” he asked, feeling anger bubble up from his core. “I thought they had eyes on the Uchiha clan at all times.” He moved his eyes back to look at hers. Void of everything he had liked about them. No longer wild, angry or worried, just a lightless hole. “I think you know why,” Tenzo said finally.
“So I will not give her over to them, I will do it myself.” He got up, pulling her lifeless body up. Her head tilted back, spreading her hair all over his arms. He strained his muscles against her.  “I’m not going to let Danzo have her eyes.”

*lil tw for implied painkiller addiction and also obito calls kakashi a slur once djsjajjd*
also disclaimer i’ve never actually engaged with writing/coming up with an au that isn’t wholesome and/or mythical so this is all new to me etc etc i’m so tired lmao
so it’s an au loooooosely based on the album how to be a human being by glass animals (i’m holding the album hostage in my brain i love it) and it takes place year-round (high school experience) but the vibes it gives me are simply summer vibes JSJAKAJD (also i see it happening southwest where it’s decently warm year-round anywayyy, so)
it’s mostly just bad decisions and treating each other like shit with a side of “i literally cannot live without you”
obito suffers from general chronic pain from a car wreck he was in where both his parents died. he lives with madara now who is kind of abusive mostly in the strict “be a man” way. emotional repression. that kinda stuff. but if u know me and u know my bc of obito, that doesn’t work for him because he is a Feelings Guy. so he and madara don’t get on very well.
his major area of pain is in his hip/leg/knee/etc and on bad days he’ll use a brace and crutches. on a good day he might not need either, but those are rare. usually he just goes with the crutches and pain meds. this all sucks bc he was a really good basketball player in middle school and definitely would’ve gotten a scholarship later if it weren’t for the injury (happened summer after ninth grade). this really bums him out and madara isn’t exactly happy either, hence depression and general mood swings, etc etc. also most of his emotion comes out in anger or making out with kakashi so. yeaj.
kakashi would be fine except sakumo is sick and he spends any time he has at home caring for him. but he also has to go to school and go to track practice because it’s his only hope of getting a scholarship and getting into college, sakumo’s one dream for him. he also has to work and pay for basically everything he might need because while sakumo can work from home, he often doesn’t have the energy and doesn’t get paid as much anymore (his boss, tsunade, is lenient with sick days because she understands, but she can’t be all forgiving).
he’s also asthmatic on top of this and frequently gets into near-fights with obito over his smoking problem (he doesn’t care if he smokes but he’s not going over to his house ever again and if he pulls out his pack near him kakashi will grab it and throw it as far as he can)
rin is also here, i haven’t figured out her backstory yet but she’s just as fucked up and i know that her parents don’t really care for her either, or like. they have too much lenience. she still wants to become a doctor and she has great grades and stuff, but she also spends any extra time outside of that with kakashi and obito which i’ll elaborate on later. she supports kakashi’s berating of obito’s smoking.
also considering her parents being constrictingly religious and her hating it and becoming a teenage rebel but like. not in the cute media way dsjsjdhsj
no plot outside of kakashi wants to get the hell out, obito’s pissed because he probably won’t be able to but he’s also a little emotionally stunted and can’t admit he’s in love with kakashi and doesn’t want him to leave, and rin just cannot wait to leave this town behind forever.
scenarios i have in mind are:
- obito cares a lot about his car. it’s a dinged up jeep that he bought practically dead, but has fixed up since then to be almost brand new. (still needs a paint job and new seats but it’s perfect otherwise). kakashi and rin steal it in the middle of the night and speed it down the highways outside of town, take it off roading a bit, etc. obito is pissed and almost beats the shit out of them the next day. the only reason he does not is because they run away. he can’t find it in him to hold a grudge since they didn’t actually do any damage to it, but he still gives kakashi a black eye for doing it lmao
- kakashi tries once to hold obito’s hand while they’re sitting on a bench late at night. obito calls him a faggot and kakashi flips him off. he then continues to do it over the next few weeks until obito finally gives up and lets him. he doesn’t not and will not admit that he likes it.
- they have a huge fight at the end of their senior year because kakashi’s leaving and obito’s fucking pissed. obito calls kakashi a whore and accuses him of only using him for gratification and other things he doesn’t mean (he is not entirely wrong), kakashi accuses obito of being an addict and a bunch of things he doesn’t really mean (he is not entirely wrong). they don’t talk to each other until kakashi barges into obito’s house the day before he leaves to start goodbye, and they forgive each other. but obito’s got shit to work through and kakashi admits he won’t be able to focus on obito as much as he should while he’s away. he’ll be back when he finishes.
- in the years following, obito spends most of his time with sakumo, helping him. he’s on an upward recovery, and becomes a better father figure to him that madara ever could be.
- lots of cliff jumping and making out, not necessarily at the same time (but also it can be ;)) nsfw if u want but i’m not gonna talk ab that lmao that’s up for interpretation
- if they do get with rin, it’s years later when they’re all like. healed and better.
- kakashi and obito and rin were great friends as kids and everything was a lot more wholesome before shit went down.

Note
In canon Kakashi is too unstable and morally sound for anbu. He cannot live with what is being asked of him in anbu even though he completes his missions with extreme diligence. When he is kicked out it is for his own good. legacy Kakashi has absolutely 0 problems killing even innocent civilian children and babies. I can think of few things worse than that and yet he does it almost blithely and sleeps like a rock after. I'm curious to know if you went with this diverging take as a logical consequence of the things Kakashi would be okay doing had he been doing them for Minato and not hiruzen? Or was it something else which made you deviate from his canon characterisation in this regard? (Hope i'm not overstepping by asking I'm really fascinated with the legacy universe and love the world you've built so I'm curious about the process of it all)
The simplest answer to this is that the section of canon you're talking about came out after Fallen Leaves and ANBU Legacy began.
The less simple answer is... oi, canon.
So, in canon, Kakashi's journey is thus:
Rin is kidnapped by Kirigakure at the end of the Third War, who implants the Three-Tails into her (how??) as part of a Cunning Plan to have it unleashed on Konoha when she inevitably loses control. Kakashi 'rescues' her. Rin begs Kakashi to kill her, because that is clearly the only solution to this issue, it's not like there are MULTIPLE SEAL-MASTERS at home who could unimplant the Three Tails, death is the only option. Kakashi refuses. Convenient Kiri-nin attack. Rin commits suicide-via-Raikiri by jumping in front of Kakashi. Kakashi gains the Mangekyo and we fridge yet another female character, hooray.
Kakashi becomes depressed. (In the anime, people start calling him Friend-Killer Kakashi. Wow, Konoha.)
Minato decides the fix for this is to toss Kakashi into ANBU. Because what 14-year-old wouldn't be cured of survivor's guilt by committing more murder? It's the perfect plan!
The plan does not work. Kakashi does splendidly in ANBU, becoming a captain and taking command of Team Ro, but -- and I'm quoting from Naruto wiki here -- 'his successes were owed to his cold behavior and his ruthlessness in combat, signs that he was still upset by Rin's death'.
(A little aside here: Kakashi is effectively becoming god's perfect killing machine, the blade of Konoha, the tiny angel of death; everything you want in, you know, your elite special forces, and I'm still trying to figure out what Minato's actual goal was here. Did he tell Kakashi that the point of ANBU was to make Kakashi get over Obito and Rin, or did he just say something like 'Konoha needs your services', and has been moving the secret goal posts ever since? Because it's very hard for someone to participate in their active recovery if they don't actually know they're in therapy.)
Anyway. ANBU isn't working to make Kakashi get over his death wish, so Minato decides, hey, why don't you look after my pregnant wife instead? Except that he assigns it as a mission, so Kakashi treats it like a mission, which means he stalks Kushina from the shadows like a feral cat for several months.
Which brings us to the Nine-Tails. So, Minato dies. Kushina dies (failed your mission AGAIN, Kakashi!). The Third apparently imprisons most of Kakashi's generation in a bubble of protection to stop them from helping, for which there isn't enough "what???" in the world, so we're gonna skip right on past that.
Next is a whole series of events where Danzou tries to corrupt Kakashi, Tenzou is introduced, we find out about Root, Orochimaru does his various war crime experiments and escapes, Root is destroyed (or is it??), Tenzou joins ANBU, we meet Itachi, Itachi massacres the Uchiha, and so on. This all takes place over several years. After the Uchiha massacre, the Third feels like "individuals with kind hearts" don't belong in ANBU, so he pulls Kakashi out, and instead charges him with teaching teenagers how to commit murder.
And that's canon.
So, Legacy. Here are the key differences:
Rin doesn't die
Minato doesn't die
Kakashi's mother doesn't die
The Third does die
Kakashi doesn't join ANBU until he's eighteen
The Uchiha massacre hasn't occurred
Instead of getting knocked from pillar to post and punted into ANBU, Kakashi spends the ages of 14 - 18 on (mostly solo) Jounin missions, building up his skillset. He has support from Minato and Rin, an entirely new, anchoring, and happy relationship with Naruto, and more time to grow into himself. His ties to Konoha are much, much stronger. In Legacy, Danzou would have no chance of tempting Kakashi (and knows it).
When Kakashi joins ANBU, it's a choice. He goes into it knowing exactly what's going to be asked of him, and if he wasn't sure before, Minato removes all doubt:
“The Special Assassination and Tactical Squad is neither Konoha’s oldest division nor its noblest,” Minato said, with a conversational air, and Kakashi realized this wasn’t a prepared speech. This was just Minato laying out the facts like he always did, grounding the extraordinary in regular context. “Even inside the village, ANBU are feared more than they’re respected. Citizens of our own village still call them baby-killers. Some ANBU have earned that title, under my command. You may.” He paused. “I have given those orders personally. Every order the ANBU receive comes through me. Sometimes the command is to protect the village, or to conduct a high-risk mission into enemy territory, or to assassinate an exceptionally strong ninja. Sometimes it’s to sustain the village’s lifeblood—to accept a mission so foul I can’t offer it to the regular forces, to work for a client whose motives and methods are reprehensible but whose coin will feed and protect our children. You’ve accepted that first kind of mission, and excelled. Can you accept the second?”
“Yes,” said Kakashi, without hesitation.
(From Take the Mask)
The oath Kakashi swore was this:
I am Hatake Kakashi, ANBU. I have no face but this face.
I have no heart, but the heart of Konohagakure.
I have no will, but the will of my Hokage.
Which is a little worryingly vague, when you think about it.
Kakashi knows he will be asked to kill. He knows he may be asked to commit much worse actions for Konoha. As much as he can, he's made his peace with that. There are orders he would struggle with, but ultimately his moral compass points to home.
He's a shinobi first. Personhood comes second.
