did madi ever experience repercussions from her parents akin to maris punishments, and if so did mari ever have to assume the role of protector? itd be interesting to me to see moments when their usual roles are reversed

((Funny you should say that nonnie, as Marion has been chomping at the bit for months now to avenge Madison’s treatment from his father. Between Madison being overworked, to referring his time with marion as a waste of time, to abuse, Marion is reasonably furious. Unfortunately Madison is verryyyy adamant that Marion not hurt a hair on his dad’s head (specifically saying “Honey, believe me, god knows I do. But, you can’t. You can’t.”)  , and as much as Marion wants to he respects Madison’s wishes…at least, to this point so far. Madi is much more quiet about it but he also has his fair share of abusive treatment at the hands of his family members: exhibit A here (tw: child abuse).

Even in more recent times I believe it was early March? Madison took Marion to meet his father, Jason, and after a spat between Jason and Marion, Madison sent Marion out of the room so Jason could slap him sdlfjsdg. Then, poor Madi had a dissociative episode that lasted the rest of the weekend. 

So yeah! Madi is just way quieter about it, but he’s got his own family issues, and the more of them marion learns, the more eager he is to beat the tar out of (or murder) Jason Mari is. Marion is fiercely protective of Madison, but Madison would rather not be protected, for his own reasons))
