Upon hearing this, Elizabeth swallowed hard, her own stomach twisting and turning as she listened to Emily's account of the event, an account that made Randall shudder and Dorian shiver. As soon as Emily had finished, the terror seized Elizabeth's heart, and she found herself quivering in her seat, Dorian lovingly wrapping an arm around her in an effort to comfort her. His warmth, his touch, his very smell, all of it did wonders to settle her nerves...
…but still...
It was such a cruel twist of fate, wasn't it? She, who loved music, loved dance, was doomed to die by its hand, this strange and rare condition that had gripped not only her, but everyone else at the wake...it sounded like a sick joke, played on not only her, but Dorian as well, dead in his coffin, the people who loved him celebrating him with song and dance (two things he'd so loved in life) soon to join him in that death. It felt like a mockery of the two of them, and she hated it.
Still, Elizabeth held strong, swallowing back her fear as she embraced Dorian (who embraced her just as tightly, grounding her in the present) before gingerly pulling away, yet still holding onto his hand as she gathered her thoughts before asking curiously, "But...after we die...we don't go on? We...remain in Gracey Manor? And...you said Dorian and I, we...we married after we died?"
