i'm losing my damn mind trying to do math to square amaya's age with canon because there are SO MANY NUMBER INCONSISTENCIES (srsly sarah pls have mercy on me)
rhys says he receives his mother's ring at his majority because his sister wasn't born yet, but considering that could be earliest 18 or latest mid 20s given that illyrians are considered "majority" at the time of the blood rite, it really narrows down a reasonable timeline, especially since amaya and her mother were visiting rhys in illyria at the spring plot, presumably during his training (although this is murky on whether rhys was training WITH a new unit or just personally training a new unit at the time). saying 18-20s is "majority," means amaya was born at least when rhys was 25-28 ish and was a literal toddler at the time of his training if we go that route. not only is that DEPRESSING AF to consider the ramifications of the plot, but it doesn't match canon timeline for when rhys became high lord sometime after 35 years old (28 at the start of the war plus 7 years for the war).
tamlin is also described as too young to fight in the war, but to avoid some MAJOR ICK, he had to be old enough for amarantha to see him and want him without being a worse predator than she already is. i usually default to him being about 18 at the time of the war (too young to fight like his brothers, but old enough to at least be considered an adult and be similar enough in age to rhys to be friends).
i'm going to say amaya was born just before the war started when rhys was 27 and tamlin was 17 and "died" at around 19 years old , young enough to still be traveling with her mother but old enough to survive in avallen (also to add to the symbolism of rhys and tamlin finding out feyre's age during the series and to know how young that truly is). in this timeline, rhys has completed his illyrian training but is still with the warcamps to help them rebuild after the war, especially considering training a whole new cadre of warriors from start to finish would have taken about 17 years (if illyrians are dropped off at age 8 and complete the blood rite at 25) with a bit of a reasonable break after the war to reconvene and rebuild. it also means rhys would have become high lord at 46 and tamlin at 36.
