Complainers (A MHA fanfic)
Midorya x Fem! Reader
(A/N : So this is my first fanfic EVER and I've really been into MHA for a while now and I LOVED reading all the fanfics, and I saw this particular ask to a blog if the reader had a writing quirk and how would Midorya and two other characters would react (I am so sorry I forgot the blog who wrote that) but I wanted to put my spin on it and make the reader be into slam poetry and let their tongue be their weapon. This particular poem is by Rudy Fransisco!! Not my original poem!! Hope y'all enjoy!)
youtube
When you write, it's like the whole world around you finally goes silent. You live out the daydreams in your own head feeling the words on the page a safe space. This was your quirk. Even if it didn't seem as great to be in combat fighting villains, at least it's something to fight your inner demons. That to you was enough.
Midorya was well use to the song and dance of getting you to snap out of your world when the bell rings, apologizing in advance. In truth he hates breaking your concentration, he knows full well that he hates the feeling being separated from writing his notes. But he knew you would sit there for hours on end just writing in your book, even if you finish it all in one go you wouldn't notice that you were writing on the desk. (And yes he had to get you out of there and insisted to clean it up for you). Even after all of this he still admired your quirk no less.
The bell had rung for lunch and everyone stood up and packed their books away and walked out one by one. You feel a tap on your shoulder not a minute later, and a familiar soft spoken voice breaks you from your concentration. " Hey, Y/N, I-Its time for lunch" He says with a smile and you close your book and packed it into your bag, walking with him side by side to the lunchroom.
"So what was today's story in your book?" He asked with a smile looking to you.
"Not a story today, I've been into poetry for a while. So I figured I might try something different. " You say smiling back.
"Woah, I didn't know you were into poetry. That seems really cool! What was it about? "
You were always so surprised that he was interested in your work. Since it was such a personal thing to you and you haven't really shown off your work due to self consciousness, he was always very supportive even from the beginning. Later on you realized that he also loved writing. That was one of the many things that formed a great friendship between you both, besides from your love of heroes and nerding out with each other of course!. You both carried out your conversation while getting your lunches. Sitting down on the table along with everyone else smiling and joking you all causally eat your meals. You pull out your notebook, sliding it over to Midorya to take a look after you promised him too. He smiles and opens to the bookmarked paged, but a soon as he does a hand flashes and snatches the book out of his hands.
"Please tell me you don't think your sorry excuse of a quirk would get you into the top ten!" Bakugou loudly exclaiming with a smug look.
Well shit.
While he was chuckling you were about to stand and get it back, but Midorya beat you to it trying to pry it off of his hands, but Bakugou only lifts it up higher. "What's your deal nerd? Trying to stick up for your little girlfriend?" He says chuckling louder.
"S-she's not my girlfriend kachan! Give back her book! It's not yours!" Midorya says with a blush forming on his face. But Bakugou shoves him away and faces you.
"What makes you think that writing fairytale lands and princesses would make you pro hero? That's not going to save you from the real world. What's going to happen if a villain comes in and starts destroying everything around you? You're gonna write him a love story with a happily ever after!? Give me a break! " He says with a laugh.
"Kachan! You need to stop this" Midorya says stepping back up to him. "Not everyone's quirk is perfect!"
"Heh! If you really think she could handle the world on her own-" He says before holding out the book "Let's give her a chance to prove me wrong! "
And just like that, your notebook, your work your safe haven was blown up to flames. Bits of burnt paper flown into the air, your book quickly into ashes. You didn't notice midorya quickly moving to get his water and put the fire out, your eyes was fixated on Bakugou. A smirk had formed on his face that made your heart sink into your stomach. A lump forming within your chest as you fought the urge to cry. He moved his arms and raised his eyebrows, waiting for you to make the next move. But you felt a hand around your arm.
"Y/N, you don't need this now. Let's just go-"
"No... " You say stepping up to Bakugou. Taking one last look at your destroyed book you turn your head back to him. "It's a shame, because the poem I was just writing... Was about you. " You say with a sad smile and a nod. He blinks back in surprise, his smirk growing larger than before. "That's not a good thing.. " You later say. Even though it was still in the works, even if you didnt get to finish it you felt your tongue burn. An unfamiliar sensation forming in your mouth. Usually you would feel it within your hand as you write, a soft glow transferring onto the words you'd write on the page. But now that feeling had made it's way from your throat and to your mouth.
And it's telling you to speak the fuck up.
You took a breath, looked him deep in the eye and let your mouth took the wheel.
"The following are true stories.
May 26th 2003 Aron Ralston was hiking, a boulder fell on his right hand. He waited four days, then amputated his arm with a pocket knife.
On New Year’s Eve, a woman was bungee jumping in Zimbabwe. The cord broke, she then fell into a river and had to swim back to land in crocodile infested waters with a broken collarbone.
Claire Champlin was smashed in the face by a five pound watermelon being propelled by a slingshot.
Matthew Brobst was hit by a javelin.
David Striegl was punched in the mouth. By a kangaroo.
The most amazing part about these stories is when asked about the experience they all smiled, shrugged, and said “I guess things could have been worse.”
So go ahead.
Tell me that you’re having a bad day.
Tell me about the traffic. Tell me about your boss. Tell me about the job you’ve been trying to quit for the past four years. Tell me the morning is just a town house burning to the ground and the snooze button is a fire extinguisher. Tell me the alarm clock stole the keys to your smile, drove it into 7:00 AM, and the crash totaled your happiness.
Tell me! Tell me!
Tell me, how blessed are we to have tragedies so small it can fit on the tips of our tongues?
You see, when Evan lost his legs he was speechless. When my cousin was assaulted, she didn’t speak for forty eight hours. When my uncle was murdered, we had to send out a search party to find my father’s voice.
Most people have no idea that tragedy and silence have the exact same address!
When your day is a museum of disappointments hanging from events that were outside of your control, when you find yourself flailing in an ocean of “Why is this happening to me?”, when it feels like your guardian angel put in his two week notice two months ago and just decided not to tell you, when it feels like God is just a babysitter that’s always on the phone, when you get punched in the esophagus by a fistful of life, remember that every year two million people die of dehydration so it doesn’t matter if the glass is half full or half empty, there’s water in the cup.
Drink it, and stop FUCKING complaining.
Muscle is created by repeatedly lifting things that have been designed to weigh us down. So when your shoulders feel heavy, stand up straight and lift your chin – call it exercise. When the world crumbles around you, you have to look at the wreckage and then build a new one out of the pieces that are still here.
Remember, you are still here.
The human heart beats approximately four thousand times per hour.
Each pulse, each throb, each palpitation is a trophy engraved with the words “You are still alive”...
You are still alive...
Act like it."
When you felt the sensation cool from your lips and the tip of your tongue, Bakugou's eyes were wide. His smirk had fallen. Silence filled around you, even from Midorya. Everyone has seen and heard the whole thing. Just as you were about to walk back to your table to grab your things and leave, you hear a slow clap. Then another. Then another. You turn your head to see everyone clapping and cheering. You smile a little. Bakugou steps back and walks off with a smack of his teeth.
"Tch, whatever weirdo.. " He mumbles under his breath.
You walked over to Midorya smiling and he quickly gives you a hug. "That was amazing! The way you kept firing words at kachan was incredible! I never seen him so speechless like that! " He pulls away with a smile and a blush.
"Oh hehe! It was nothing really" You say forming a blush yourself, looking away shyly.
"I'm really sorry about your notebook though. I could buy you another one and bring it to you tomorrow! "
"Oh no it's okay! I have extras at my house-"
"Nope! It's my treat." He smiles and the bell rings again, making everyone pack up and ready for the next class. Midorya grabs his bag and hands you yours. Making your way back into the building he stops you for a second. "Hey, speaking of treat, d-do you think we could both head out f-for some ice cream after school? " He says with a heavier blush and fiddles with his tie. He always did looked cute when he blushed. You smile and giggle a bit.
"I would love to.. "
(Woah hey! First fanfic done! Hope you all enjoyed that!! 🤣💕)

my only one//auston matthews
masterlist
based off of my only one by all time low
chapter two
saturday may 3, 2014
“matts! get up!” i throw a pillow at him.
“hey! what was that for?!”
“for you to get up, dumbass!”
“you’re so mean!”
“suure i am.” i roll my eyes
“why don’t you come lay with me for a bit?”
“why should i?”
“because you love me?” he flails his arms, hoping i’ll lay with him.
“ehh, i dunno. do i?” i pretend to think about it.
“c’mon, you know you love me!”
“ugh, fine!” i climb into bed next to him
“i knew you’d cave in soon enough.” he wraps his arms around me and smiles.
“you looked so cute flailing your arms i just couldn’t stay away.”
“you looked so cute just standing there, like always.” he kisses my forehead.
“aw, you’re so sweet.”
“only for you.” he looks at me, grinning wide.
“so, what are we doing today, matty?”
“well, i have a game tonight at 7 if you wanna go with me.”
“i’d love to, aus. i miss going to your games all the time.”
“i miss seeing you there all the time.”
“hopefully you’ll be on your game this time.”
“yeah, hopefully you’re not too cute.”
“i can’t help how cute i am.” i shrug
“yeah, you’re right. i’m sure i’ll be on my game.”
“are we doing anything else?”
“hmm, maybe.”
“you do have something planned! spill it matthews!”
“i’m not telling you!”
“tell me!”
“no, it’s a surprise!”
“can you at least tell me when so i’m ready?”
“after the game. i’m gonna shower at the rink and we’ll leave right from there.”
“can you at least give me a hint?”
“all i can tell you is you’re gonna love it. i cant tell you any more than that. it’ll give it away.”
“ugh, i bet it’s something really sweet.”
“i’m not telling.”
“ugh, i guess i can wait.” i roll my eyes
“i’m sure you can, princess.”
“don’t push it matthews.”
“i said it before and i’ll say it again: you know i’m gonna push it.”
“yeah, i know.”
“is that what you want me to do?”
“yeah, it’s cute when you do it.”
“push push push push push push.” he pokes my face and bursts out laughing
“that was so cute! i’m gonna have a heart attack!”
“baby, no! i don’t wanna kill you!”
“it’s okay, you’re allowed.”
“but babe, i don’t want to.”
“i guess i’ll stay alive then.” i roll my eyes.
“yay! i’m so happy you didn’t die!” he squeezes the life out of me.
“aw, me too, lovey. i’d miss you too much.”
“me too, i’d miss you so much. i hope we don’t ever have to be far from each other. i don’t know if i could make it.”
“me neither. i really hope we won’t ever be too far from each other, i’m sure we could handle it, but do we really want to?”
“no we don’t. i want my baby by my side.” he kisses my cheek.
“aw, so do i. i would hate to be apart from you.”
“hopefully you can go with me wherever i go. i’d hate to leave you behind.”
“i’d hate to stay behind. i hope i can go with you wherever you end up.”
“i love you too much to leave you behind. i don’t know what i would do without my girl.” he looks straight into my eyes, his forehead pressed to mine, and kisses me.
“i don’t know what i’d do without my boy. i love you too much to stay back. i wouldn’t be able to end it if it got too hard either.”
“i would hope you wouldn’t want to end it if it got tough. i’m sure we could get through it, and in the end it’d be worth it.”
“yeah, you’re right. it’d make it that much better when we’d see each other again.”
“you’re right, babe.”
“as always.”
“suuuure you are.”
“you know i am.”
“sometimes, not always.”
“good enough.” i kiss his cheek
“so, what do you wanna do now? we got a bit of time to kill before the game.”
“don’t you normally nap before games?”
“yeah, but i won’t because you’re here and i’d hate to miss a second of your cuteness.”
“what if we took a nap together?”
“that’s a great idea, babe!”
“i have my moments.”
“you do, love. do you wanna nap right now or a little later?”
“right now is fine with me, aus.”
“good, i could use a nap right now.” he pulls me close to his chest
“me too. goodnight, i guess.” i wrap
my arms around him and shut my eyes.
“goodnight.” he holds me close to his chest and shuts his eyes.
soon after we fall asleep, he notices i’m starting to move around and breathe heavily. he waits for me to wake up, not knowing if i’m having a nightmare or just having a hard time falling asleep. it only gets worse as time goes on. i start muttering words like ‘no’ and ‘stop’, sounding panicked and worried. finally i wake up.
“h-he’s gone. i-i lost him.” i start sobbing, sitting up with my head in my hands.
“shhhh, baby, it’s okay. you didn’t lose me, i’m right here.” he sits up and wraps his arms around me.
“oh, it was just a nightmare?” i turn my head to look at him, tears rolling down my cheeks.
“i could never leave you, you know that. what happened in it? why did i leave?”
“y-you moved to a big city and for some reason i couldn’t go. i started seeing things like you out with other girls. i was so heartbroken. it just got worse and worse, finally i decided to visit you to talk it out. i found you with some girl telling her you loved her. i was so hurt, it felt so real because i felt it myself. i ended up taking the next flight out because i couldn’t handle it. i just spent the rest of my life being miserable.” i sob even harder.
“baby, i’m so so sorry. i would never do that to you. even if something like that did happen, i would never be with any other girl, you’re the only girl i want. but it’s okay, i’m here now, i never left you, and i never will.”
“if you ever feel like you don’t love me anymore, please just tell me. i don’t wanna go through anything like that.”
“love, look at me, i could never fall out of love with you. i love you so much, and it grows more and more every day.” he looks at me and i look at him, tears in his eyes and tears running down my cheeks.
“aw, don’t cry, aus. i hate seeing you cry.”
“i’m sorry, it’s just the thought of any of that happening. i could never hurt you, let alone that much.”
“aw, c’mere, love.” i open my arms for him.
“just know that i love you with all my heart, and i’d never do anything to hurt you.” he whispers and hugs me tight.
“shhhh, it’s okay, love, i know you do. it was just a nightmare, it’s not real.” i hug him, rubbing his back to calm him down.
“i could never fall out of love with you, you’re perfect. you’re everything i’ve ever wanted and more. my love for you grows every second i’m with you, and i don’t see it stopping anytime soon.”
“i feel the same way about you. you’re everything i’ve ever wanted and much, much more. it keeps growing more and more each day, and i don’t see it slowing down ever.”
“are you alright now, my love?”
“yeah, i’m fine now. thanks for being here, aussie. i really appreciate that.”
“anything for my girl.” he smiles, wiping my tears with his thumb.
“you’re the best boyfriend a girl could ask for.”
“really? i am?”
“don’t push it matthews.”
“push push push push push push push.” he pokes my face again.
“aw, you’re too cute.”
“thanks, my love. so are you.”
“thanks, lovey. i guess we’re the cutest couple ever huh?”
“that we are. me and my girl: the cutest couple ever.”
“actually, it would be my girl and i: the cutest couple ever.”
“oh so now you’re pushing it?”
“as a matter of fact i am. and what are you gonna do about it?”
“i have an idea.”
“and what would that be?”
“this.” he starts tickling me
“oh my god, aus! stop! auston! stop it!” i laugh so hard i can’t breathe.
“see? i told you i had an idea.”
“ugh, why is everything you do so cute?”
“i guess i’m just a cute guy, babe.”
“yeah, you’re pretty cute.”
“thanks love. we should probably head out soon. it’s 5 right now.”
“yeah, i’m gonna go take a shower. don’t miss me too much.”
“i’ll try, but it’s hard not to miss someone so cute.” he winks.
“aw, stop it. i’ll be right back.” i give him a quick kiss.
i get in the shower, putting on some music, singing along terribly on purpose. aus joins in and it turns into a competition for who can sing the worst. he ends up winning, unfortunately. i hop out of the shower and get ready quickly so we can leave.
“i’m all ready, babe.” i step out of the bathroom, dressed and my hair pulled up.
“baby! you look so cute!” he picks me up and spins me around, lowering me a bit to kiss me, and then putting me down.
“thanks, aus, you look cute too.”
“thanks, babe. you ready to head out?”
“as long as you are.”
“okay, let’s go then.” he takes my hand and we leave.
“you excited to play?” i take his hand and smile.
“uh, yeah, i’m a little nervous though.”
“why?”
“because you haven’t seen me play in a while and i’m worried i’m gonna mess up.”
“babe, i’ll still love you if you mess up. don’t be nervous, i’m sure you’ll do fine.” i squeeze his hand a little.
“but what if i fuck up? i was off my game last time and i don’t wanna be off my game again.” he parks the car and runs his hand through his hair.
“aus, look at me. you’ll be fine. you won’t fuck up, you just need to focus and not psych yourself out about it.” i bring my hand up to his face.
“yeah, you’re right. thanks, love.”
“no problem. how could i not be there for someone so cute?” i smile and pinch his cheeks in attempt to cheer him up.
“you’re right, babe.” he smiles.
“we should head in though, your game starts soon.”
“yeah, we should.” we get out of the car, him going to grab his bag and me waiting for him, then grabbing his hand and walking in.
“alright, i’ll see you after the game.“
“yeah, i’ll meet you outside the locker room.”
“i love you, don’t you ever forget that.” i reach up and kiss him.
“i love you too, and i can’t forget it when you tell me all the time.”
“okay you really gotta go, bye babe.”
“bye love.” he goes to the locker room and i go sit in the stands.
the game ended, the score being 3-2, and auston scoring a goal. i rose from my spot in the stands and walked over to the locker room, scattered hi’s and hey’s from the boys walking out. finally auston came out, his hair all wet and stringy looking, literally making my heart stop because he’s so cute.
“you did great, aus! i’m so proud of you!” i tackle him with a hug.
“thanks baby. you were right about earlier, i did great. i think it’s you, even if you messed me up last practice, you really helped me this time. i’m so glad i have you.” he hugs me tight and kisses my shoulder.
“no problem, love. i hate seeing you nervous so i wasn’t about to let you go play a game all nervous.” i take his hand and we walk out.
“aw, you’re too sweet.”
“i try, baby.”
“you’re doing a damn good job at it.”
“you too, that goal you scored was so so good. you’re so so talented. you have more talent in your pinky than i do in my entire body.”
“nah, babe, you’re talented too. i’m not that talented.”
“whatever you say, aus. what about that surprise you mentioned earlier? are we headed there now?”
“we’re gonna head there right now, my love. i’m still not telling you though.”
“ugh, you really aren’t caving are you?”
“nah, i won’t cave. you’re gonna love it so much though.” we get in the car and head to his surprise.
we arrive at the surprise he set up for me, him helping me out of the car and covering my eyes.
“alright, we’re here.” he removes his hands from my eyes to reveal the park, but there’s a table and two chairs, along with a guitar.
“aw, auston, this is so cute. thank you so much for doing this for me.”
“no problem, baby. i guess it counts as our first date?”
“i would hope it does, at least it is to me.”
“i think it is too, i just didn’t know what you thought.”
“how come there’s a guitar? you don’t know how to play one?”
“or so you think.” he smiles, picking it up and sitting on a park bench.
“aw, you’re gonna sing AND play a song for me? you’re the sweetest boyfriend ever!” i hug him real tight.
“i try, baby.”
“you’re doing a damn good job at it too.”
“thanks babe. anyways, here’s wonderwall.” he strums the guitar but we burst out laughing.
“you’re too funny, babe. hopefully you won’t actually play wonderwall, i hate that song.”
“nah, i’m not. i’ll play the actual song i planned on playing.” he strums the guitar and starts playing seeing blind.
he stops singing once it hits the girls part and just strums the guitar.
“babe, aren’t you gonna join in?”
“oh, sorry, i forgot it was a duet.” i laugh and then join in.
we continue singing the duet together, making eye contact and smiling at each other every once in a while.
“that was so sweet of you, aus. did you learn the chords just for me?”
“yeah, i’d do anything to make you happy, you know that.”
“aw! that’s so sweet!” i hug him tight.
“you did really well singing, besides forgetting to join in.” he glares at me, then breaking out in a smile.
“hey! i was too caught up in how sweet that was and how good your voice sounds!” i nudge him.
“i can’t be mad at you for that, baby.” he kisses my head.
“so, what’s that table there for?” i point at it
“oh, i was thinking we could sit down and eat? i know we aren’t exactly normal but that’s what normally happens on a first date.” he laughs and looks down at me.
“you’re not wrong, babe. i’m pretty hungry.”
“yeah, we should probably eat then.”
“i won’t refuse that offer.” he puts down the guitar and we get up and go over to the table.
he claps his hands and johnny and nate appear with our food.
“oh, hey guys. i feel like i just saw you two.” i act like i just told the best joke of the year, wheezing and slamming my fist on the table.
“wow, so funny.” aus rolls his eyes.
“you know i’m funny.” i glare at him.
“eh, debatable.”
“don’t push it matthews.” i roll my eyes and sigh.
“don’t push it matthews.” he imitates me, purposefully being terribly off.
“i don’t sound like that!”
“i don’t sound like that!”
“stop it!”
“stop it!”
“auston!”
“auston!”
“shut up!”
“shut up!”
“you’re so annoying!”
“you’re so annoying!”
“i’m ugly!”
“i’m ugl- no! you’re not getting me!”
“ha! gotcha!”
“you just caught me off guard!”
“i got you anyways!”
“whatever!”
“you know you love it!”
“unfortunately.” he rolls his eyes.
“so, what should we do now?”
“this is gonna sound super cliche, but we could dance together?”
“i’d love that, aus.”
“then come with me, my darling.” he takes my hand and leads me to the center of the park.
“i never imagined myself doing something so cliche like this. i guess it’s what you do to me.” i put my hands around his neck and smile up at him.
“i never imagined myself doing things like this for a girl before, but then again i guess that’s what love does.” he smiles down at me.
“i guess so.” i bury my head in his neck, both of us swaying slowly.
