"Same as last time," said Dammon, holding out the infernal iron chamber for Karlach. "You'll need to install it yourself, but it should do the trick."

Breina watched in vibrating glee as Karlach fitted the chamber around her infernal heart. She could feel the difference almost immediately - Karlach gave off enough heat that standing beside her felt like being in front of a baker's oven, but no more. The heat subsided - the chill of the shadow curse fell in, almost refreshing in contrast.

"There. So… did it work?"

Without hesitation, she stepped forwards - she didn't even hear Dammon speaking again. One hand on Karlach's arm to make sure that it was safe, and then she pulled her into the biggest, warmest bear-hug she could manage - even though she had to stand on her tip-toes and drag Karlach down to her level to manage it. Karlach was still giving off heat, but it was like a fever, not a forge. Managed.

"Fucking finally," she laughed into Karlach's shoulder, swaying back and forth on her tip-toes, clapping her tiefling friend on the back. "One day I was gonna do this without thinking and give myself third degree burns, waist to tit. It would have been worth it, but I like my tits unsinged."
