@brazenbaela sent a raven: things are going to get worse before they get better.
Tumblr media
Though young and still had much to learn, she spoke nothing but the truth. Everything that had transpired was just the prelude to what was to come, what true hardships they would need to find the strength to fight through. To be brave and stand true as one house. She thinks of this often, reminds herself when it is jus she and her mind, dueling to find some semblance of sanity. She is not alone now, no, young Baela stands with her overlooking the sea that is just right outside of Dragonstone.
"They are," she whispered, inhaling a breath and savoring the smell of it. It drudged up memories of Driftmark when she was a girl, walking the shore with her father Viserys. Listening to him tell her tales of the sea snakes and countless battles, how important the house of Velaryon was to their house. She clung to every word he spoke, wanting to absorb as much information as her young mind could. She sees that in Baela, a curious girl wanting to soak up every piece of knowledge.
Tumblr media
Violet eyes look away from the roaring waves to look to the other, "But they will get better. For our family and for all in the seven realms. We will fight through the hardships, whatever are hurdled in our direction. We're Targaryen's and Velaryon's after all." Smile is offered as hand reached over and gently rested on the others shoulder. "Come...the day wishes to pass and I find myself starved," she mused, smile a bit wider, playful even.

@crumbledstatues (alicent) sent a raven: i feel something broken inside me. you can't fix it. no one can.
Tumblr media
The feeling she spoke of was all too known. It formed the day her mother passed and grew when her brother Baelon followed soon after. If she were to visualize it, it would appear as a crack in the sides of the stone walls, growing deeper and longer as time passed. As one more loss was stacked upon shoulders that she did not fathom would carry so much in such a short span of time. And each time the jagged blade of life came down from the heavens with a thunderous blow to the earth below her feet, she felt more broken than the last strike.
So she knew all too well of what Alicent spoke of, but she held her tongue as to listen to the queen regent. Eyes that grew misty watched as the woman before her paced the floor and that took notice of how hands were clasped. She knew her old friend was picking at her nails as she did when they were younger, a sign that she was stressed. And if it had been that time when they were just girls, she would have sought to comfort her. But now? Now she could not do that though every inch of her being screamed for her to do so.
When the other woman fell silent aside from sniffling, eyes finally fell to glance at the stone floor. Arms remained crossed ever so slightly as breath nearly hitched in her throat with each one she took. "If I can not fix what is broken...then why do you come here tonight, Alicent?" she asked sullenly, head raising so that eyes looked upon her. "Why does it sound as if you are seeking help in fixing what you claim to be unrepairable?"

send me 🕯️to hear my character's inner thoughts about your character.
Tumblr media
Breakbones, that is how I first came to know of your existence. I thought it was just ridiculous. I thought that if a man had that sort of nickname, he would have been as small as I was at ten and five. I was wrong in that thinking when my eyes finally did meet yours at Aegon's second name day feast. I can not recall who named you when I asked, but I was taken back by the sheer size of you. You stood out like a tree amongst shrubs, towering over everyone, including myself.
I would not know the depths of your nickname, but when I did, I could finally understand why you had been named Breakbones. And it was only when we shared those intimate and private moments that I could see the gentle man shrouded beneath the muscle. Watching you with our sons has been the fondest memories that I carry deeply. You've given me three beautiful boys who look more and more like you everyday and it warms my heart. Yet it saddens it as well, for I wish that you could love and tend to them as their father. Not just as a knight.
Tumblr media
I wish they could know who you really are to them. Laenor is an amazing father to them, but I still wish that it were you that could see them every morrow, be there to witness every first. But for what you were around to be a part of, I am forever thankful of. Just as I am thankful for your love and devotion. And I will forever love you, my Breakbones.

On the subject of her siblings, there is both love and it's not exactly hatred ( not until Lucerys' death ) but it's there in a very mild form of it. Though it's not entirely directed at her siblings but their father despite knowing that he would seek out producing a male heir though he had named her as such. However, the hatred in any form was outshined by the love and fondness she held for her half siblings.
( it got long aka i rambled )
Her favorite, be it no surprise, is Helaena who reminded her of her mother Aemma; kind, sweet, ethereal. She stood out from her brothers when they grew older and became their own individuals. The one thing Rhaenyra admired most about her dear sister was that she remained the same kind and sweet girl as she aged. She, among her own children and the smallfolk, was someone that the queen wished to spare from the bloodshed that came from war.
Aegon, though a drunkard bastard ( though deep down she knew he was nothing but a pawn ) as he matured, was her favorite brother. She wanted nothing more than to teach him the history of their family and to watch him become a fierce dragon rider. Though she did note the similarities that he shared with their father early on; his love for wine would be his downfall and made him a horrid man to be around.
It was something she could ignore as it was simply what other men did, but the love she held for him turned sour as they grew distant. She did not expect to have a close relationship with the other as she knew, deep down despite those that swore to her father and to her, eventually he could challenge her and have support. However she hoped that her gut feeling was correct in that Aegon had no desire to be king of the realms as he never showed an interest in the history of old Valyria. But the tides were ever changing.
As for Aemond, there had always been something about the boy that Rhaenyra could not name that made it hard to trust him. Maybe it was due to the fact that she was focused on raising her own children and tending to her duties. They, as well as Daeron ( sorry Daeron she don't got nothing for you bud ), were never close and a distance had been in place keeping from knowing one another far better that what they had. And though she would have willingly chosen to close that distance to better know the other, any chance of that happening withered away the day Luc died.
Aemond was nothing more than an enemy in that moment and onwards. A blind and the vengeful rage of a mother overtook Rhaenyra to where she can not look at him and think him of her kin. The only time she ever thought she might need to take her own kins life was if they challenged her for the throne and even then she did not like the idea of it. But seeing what remained of her son and his dragon, she wanted nothing more than Aemond's head.

send me 🕯️to hear my character's inner thoughts about your character.
Tumblr media
Arrogant and prideful, broadening on stupidity. Yet you were the first man I looked upon and felt seen as a woman. Not a girl or the princess, a fragile piece of porcelain that needed to be cradled and coddled. But the woman that just wished to do what she pleased and most of all, wanted to be free. You listened to me whenever you were around, which was rare, but it was enough. Because you actually listened to me instead of pretending like everyone else. With the exception of father but even then sometimes he did not hear me.
But I wanted to be like you. Strong. A fierce dragonrider and warrior. Everything that makes us Targaryen's. And I wanted you. You were the one person who was always in my line of sight that made it feel like a fire burned hot deep within. For I knew that if we were wed, the realms would be protected and looked after. That I would not need to feel threatened by anyone or anything. Though I will admit there have been times I have feared that you are lying in wait, waiting to strike.
Tumblr media
But I know that not to be true. That you support me in my endeavors and that you will be the first to strike down any one who dare threatened me. For that I am thankful and forever appreciative of, husband.

@bigdaddydaemon sent a raven: i can't lose you again.
Tumblr media
Gave of violet looked upon the prince, lips drawn into a thin line to keep words at bay. For now. Coming and going, that is all she has known Daemon to do all throughout her life. Never once did he stay a permanent fixture in her life, even when he was physically present. He always seemed to be off in another world all together and in truth, part of her resentment that was held in secret towards him was because she was jealous.
Rhaenyra had longed to have the unbridled freedom that he had been gifted in the form of a cock between his legs. She could barely breathe without having anyone's attention on her or being questioned of where she was going or doing. It's why she longed for the moments where she could sneak out of The Keep, to wander the streets dressed like one of the small-folk. Because it was just a fraction of what he and the other men in her life were allowed.
"Ao gōntan daor ojughagon nyke, valzȳrys [You did not lose me, husband]," she murmured, hands clasping together as she looked to him. "Nyke jorrāelatan naejot ūndegon zirȳla. Ȳdragon naejot zirȳla [I needed to see her. Speak to her.]" Alicent was the only one who could tell her for certain what had became of her father in those final hours before his death. To know if he had truly betrayed her with his final breath. He had not, he had remained true in his decision of naming her as his rightful heir. And that all that had happened and was to come, was because of an outsider did not know the history of her house.
Tumblr media
"I needed to know if my father had lost his faith in me. But he had not..." she murmured, fingers toying with rings. "He spoke of Aegon the Conqueror..."

@bigdaddydaemon sent a raven: The new riders are a boon to us, but now the deed is done, I cannot erase my doubts.
Tumblr media
They did not have much left in ways of ideas. They were running thin on as was patience. This was becoming the norm for the queen who paced across the floor, eyes staring down at the stone beneath feet. She could hear the doubting tone in her husbands words, how he alongside their eldest son, doubted this plan. It was certainly not something that had been done nor allowed before; the keepers making that clear when they walked out.
Tumblr media
"Istiti emagon vokēdre isse zirȳ [We must have faith in them]," Rhaenyra sighed, finally coming to a stop as she looked to her husband. "Kessi jorrāelagon guiding se dohaeragon. Sepār hae īlon jorrāelatan skori īlon ēlī gūrotan naejot se jēdrar [They will need guiding and help. Just as we needed when we first took to the skies.]" That was what was most similar between them and the new riders; they all had to begin at the same spot.

The sun was too bright and everything was too loud. Except for her voice that rang through her ears like a melody, grounding her in calmness. Alicent was her tether, kept her centered and washed away any fears of being taken away by a shift in the winds. Things had been tense with her father since her mother's passing and she could not stand to be around him. She could tell he felt it as he did the same; neither of them spending more than a few minutes together. But she did not think of that, not right now, not with head finding its rightful place in Alicent's lap.
It's almost routine in how she turns to lay back, head coming to nestle in lap while hands rest at her sides. Today there was silence as opposed to their usual time spent gossiping and giggling like old croons. The silence was welcomed though, the lady Hightower being the only one she could spend time with in silence and not have it be awkward. It's what she loved about the other.
Tumblr media
"It's going away," Rhaenyra whispered, the feeling of fingers moving through hair aiding in the ache in her head melting away. Though hand comes to rise before gently seizing one of the redheads. Slowly she brings it near to her cheek before slightly turning head to press a kiss to palm. There was no one around, a knight was posted near the doorway that was several feet away, but the small act of affection was brief as to avoid hidden watchful eyes.
@onetrueheir sent: ∗ 14﹕ sender  places  their  head  in  receiver’s  lap . | ALICENT
EXPECTED, maybe as easy as breathing. Alicent's lap is constantly blanketed in silver strands, soft and perfectly perfumed. It differs in appearance by what is placed in her bath, it seems, some oils giving it a slight curl where other times it is as straight as her embroidery needle. Sometimes it is the braids worn, how tight or loose they are weaved to her scalp. Fingers brush out impromptu braids previously placed there, taking more strands between her fingers to start again with a new design. Sometimes it is a flurry of gossip and giggles, sometimes pure silence. This time, it is the later.
Braiding proves to be difficult when Alicent can sense violet eyes peering through silver lashes, watching her from the obscured view of Rhaenyra's head nestled in her lap. Fingers falter, if only for a moment, before pulling through the new braid and undoing it in one fell swoop.
"Close your eyes. You won't be able to relax with a headache."

@d0wager sent a raven: Helaena as queen will be the crown’s authority. If you come then to King’s Landing, I will see to it that our guards throw down their arms, we will open the gates, we will shed no blood.
Tumblr media
Violet eyes were steady as they looked to the woman. There was so much that could have prevented every moment leading up to all of this. If Alicent's, and all those around, mouth had kept ill words in regards to her sons legitimacy from being uttered. If her son had not threatened Rhaenyra's own and Baela, there would not have been a fight that lead to her half brother's eye being taken. And that would have prevented her second born being killed, taken from this world far too soon.
And most of all, if the queen dowager stood before her knew of history, her father's true want would not have gone unheard. This she all thinks of and recounts as she stands there listening to Alicent make a final attempt to spare her own suffering and pain. It's enough to make the queen scoff, head shaking and arms to come fold across chest.
Tumblr media
"So when it was I who came to you seeking for a solution that would end the senseless bloodshed, it was not good enough," Rhaenyra all but spat back at the other once she fell silent. "And what says the king or is this you committing treason? And how am I to trust you, Alicent, after everything. How."

@sadauroras (alicent) sent a raven: is this it? is this all there is?
Tumblr media
The question felt as if it were deemed more befitting to be brought forth from her own lips. Her brows furrowed and face scrunched as jaw tightened and rolled. All the princess felt was betrayal, from several sides, but from two that were most important to her. She felt betrayed by her own father for taking the one person she had left in this world that understood her. That didn't look to at her and see nothing but a princess. Never mind the feelings that resided deep within her, she was losing her only friend.
Who had betrayed her as well. She knew that they, women, had no true say in what their future held, most of all marriage. Yet she had to have made the choice to visit Rhaenyra's father, to spend time with him when she was not glued to her hip. The mere thought was enough to make her stomach churn, head turning so that she did not have to look at the other girl. "Tell me what there could be, Alicent...with you becoming queen. My stepmother," tail end of words are hissed with bitterness.
Tears prickled in eyes and she refused to shed them, in doing so made chin quiver. Heart aching and mind racing in an attempt to understand how all of this had happened, if there was anything she could do to stop this or even manage to keep what relationship they had. "I do not wish for this to be all there is, Alicent...but I do not know what could be done to stop it..."

@dreamedfyre sent a raven: what difference does it make?
Tumblr media
It was a valid question, one she asked herself many a time. However she had to remind herself that everything could make a difference. It just mattered how much one was willing to give to see it through. "It matters dear sister for your happiness," the eldest spoke gently, hand coming to rest softly against the others arm. She held a fondness for Helaena, one that wished nothing but good for her.
But the happiness she spoke of, it was what their father had wanted for Rhaenyra. To not feel pressured into doing one thing or another and she was certain that it was not extended to her younger sister. "What is it you truly wish and want for? No one need know but us, sister. I swear to the Gods."

The news had shook the queen to her core. Losing a child was never easy, but to know that one had been slain and she was blamed for it? It had made her sick to her stomach and caused heart to ache for her dear sweet sister and for the child. Even now as she stood there, listening to Cerys' words, tears threatened to spill forth. They would not, not yet, not until she was in private. She held her composure and swallowed the forming lump.
Instinctively, though, hand did come to rest against stomach, her own loss still so raw and fresh in her mind. It is why she can not begin to fathom that anyone on her council or in her space would believe she would call for the slaying of a child. She was a mother who had just lost her own babe to the Stranger so why would she do that to her sister, her own blood?
Even now, she could hear it in Cerys' tone, the silent question that all of them were thinking; did you do it? And she can not blame them for questioning her, questioning the circumstances and situation, yet she could and did. To some small degree she did blame them and allowed the smallest fraction of anger to form at even being considered as the one to do it. Especially from her own people; the Greens would do what they wished with her name to discredit her further. To sway the small-folk to back their cause and ambitions.
"I did not do it," Rhaenyra said after a moment, hand remaining pressed against empty stomach. "I could not...could never do that to my sister. Never," she whispered, eyes remaining steady as she looked to the other woman. Even though Aegon was the father, she would not strike down his children for they were innocent in this senseless war and because of who their mother was.
Tumblr media
A beat, breath taken and held to steady herself and banish tears away, and slowly the breath was released. "I do not, Cerys. Your findings are most...useful..." she whispered, "it gives us an idea of what we are further working against." Another pause, another breath held and released. "...did you see Helaena? H-...how does she fare?" If she could reach out to her sister and comfort her, she would. She would do anything to protect the other woman from any pain and torment.
@onetrueheir said: ❝ so you think that they see me as the villain in this particular story? ❞ / black sails sentence starters
——— ❝ the blame was fixed quickly and otto hightower moved at once to ensure that was the story told across the realm. i could see from the red keep the crowds of smallfolk as ...as the funeral processed. ❞
someone had ordered the death of a little boy. it was not difficult to discern a version of events where a queen, furious at the loss of her own son, should decree that her enemies suffer the same fate. but helaena...what was done to helaena...
cerys bit her tongue and hid her hands behind her back. ignored the way her nails dug into her palms. she would not ask if the green's version of events was true. mayhaps she did not wish to know, for if it was true, what did that make her that she should be willing to serve such a monster in exchange for her freedom?
it was not her fault. the greens cornered her. they gave cerys no choice. she had to flee king's landing, she had to join to the black cause, or else be wed to larys strong, a man like as not to kill her when she was no longer of use.
that wasn't just aegon's heir. that was helaena's boy. helaena, poor helaena, dear helaena — forgive her, helaena, if it was true that cerys now allied herself with the one who had caused her unimagineable grief.
❝ i pray you'll not begrudge me for reporting to you of it. ❞

To runaway had always been a desire. From a young age, Rhaenyra had wanted to travel and see what all the world had to offer. She of course could not because of who and what she was so her wishful thinking was just that. Even now as queen, she knew they could not really just leave Dragonstone, least of all herself, and go do as they wished. But it was a nice thought, one that was in stark contrast to dread and worry that plagued her. And it was a calm moment spent with her husband, her twin flame.
Tumblr media
Eyes looked towards the grand window, storm clouds brewing in the distances ( Syrax would not leave the pit until it past. ) "Anywhere," she whispered, faintest smile curling her lips. "I have not been nearly as far as you have. I wish, have for ages, to see what you have seen. Experienced what you have experienced. But alas..." and there is a sadness to her voice as eyes turn to look to Daemon. "What was your favorite place to visit?"
Tumblr media
@onetrueheir asked: ❛ let’s go somewhere, just you and me. ❜
Tumblr media
the   words   cause   the   king   consort   to   give   a   short   pause   and   look   back   at   his   wife.   there   is   renewed   hope   in   her   eyes,   while   sadness   and   grief   will   never   leave,   losing   a   son,   a   daughter   and   a   father   in   such   short   notice,   it   was   good   to   see   her   in   such   light   spirits.   council   said   they   should   not   leave   though,   even   more,   they   keep   telling   her,   while   daemon   is   free   to   do   as   he   pleases   which   is   just   as   silly   as   anything   else   those   grey   beards   say.
"where   would   you   want   to   go?"   he   asks   in   turn,   syrax   and   caraxes   hadn't   flown   together   in   a   long   time   and   he   is   sure   his   mount   would   enjoy   the   company   of   his   chosen   mate,   and   daemon   had   missed   rhaenyra,   more   than   he   would   admit   outside   of   a   room.   "the   sky   is   the   limit.   and   king's   landing."   but   dragonstone   was   big   and   it   felt   more   like   home   to   him   than   the   keep   anyways.
