i think when he was young al didn't actually dislike sweets. on the contrary, he was actually quite fond of them — until one particular incident that saw him unsupervised with an entire container of molasses within reach. which he then proceeded to do as any child with a considerable sweet-tooth in his position would and ate nearly all of its contents with his bare hands. delicious regret.

his poor mother found him very ill and very nearly stuck to the floor. anything too cloyingly sweet dredges up the memory and makes him nauseous. ( it's a secret he has quite literally taken to the grave. )

#𝟎𝟎𝟒 : 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘦. ◟ hc .◝#( if you ask him he'd probably give some excuse about sugar being too expensive )#( i think in general despite al speaking very fondly of his mother he doesn't talk a lot about himself growing up )#( like he will chatter about the serial killer radio host era if prompted )#( but i don't think he would chat about his childhood for instance because he doesn't want it to?? kind of humanize him in a way?? )#( he has an entire self-constructed mythos about himself as the radio demon & he doesn't like the idea of people being able to --#sneak a peek behind the curtain and see his humanity )#( so there's all of these weird little anecdotes & stories he refuses to share w/ anyone because they don't mesh with his self-image )#( he basically wants everyone to believe he spawned at like 28 and died a decade later. )
