okay so i was talking about this recently and i figured, why not throw it onto the dash, right? just to show my current thought process as it stands and of course this is subject to change, but there’s always the thing that i’m lazy and i’ll probably not come back to this in months if ever.
so anyway ! let’s talk about IREZUMI TATTOOS, shall we?
1. doesn't start process of tattoos until despair, disregarding legal age in japan at 20 ( this is unless we're talking about aus )
2. nagasode / arm tattoo to wrist: sakura ( cherry blossoms ) w/ sleeping kinryu dragon wrapping around foreharm, dedicated to natsumi ( planned pre-despair w/ her death, but not executed ). muted color scheme, save for sakura and the dragon which is golden, gold representing value & variety of virtues.
3. possibly opposite nagasode dedicated to peko? possibly first post-nwp piece? not equated to dragons name wise, but yellow dragon tattoos are considered noble companions. also, ft. benten,  jp goddess who rides on nameless dragon & descends onto earth to stop evil doings of other dragons.
4. leaning towards namabuki ( severed head ) being the centerpiece of his back bc you know, it's a scary and edgy move, but also representing "willingness to accept your fate and with honour" which is heckin true in his case. fire incorporated into this piece somehow or other, signaling kuzuryuu rebirth.
5. maple leaves signal the passage of time, which could be representative post-nwp and his change throughout that entire heckin progress, perhaps putting those leaves where he has extra space or has an outline that he didn't have the time to finish in despair ( this primarily being the outline of namabuki, as nagasode more likely came first since duh smaller piece )
6. in general, themes that stick out in fuyuhiko's irezumi the most would be the themes of dragons, fire, and scales in general where he can fit them tbh. altho i dissect these pieces as their own, he is mindful of the overall picture and works to merge them all together. not so much flowery imagery, save for natsumi's piece, but this most likely changes post-nwp
7. no matter what time he is planning or actually getting done his intentions has always been to get munewari sōshinbori aka a full body tattoo save for an opening on his chest. ( in the case of an au this is the same, however, he would much prefer shichibu aka 3/4 sleeves tatts or an even shorter cut-off so he can roll up his sleeves a lil without people being put off by him but that's just a minor diff )
8. and, of course, dragon " DICK, "
