getting rid of that little grey box on .gifs
roleplayers who are using the BETA EDITOR and use GIF PACKS when doing replies, may have noticed something a little strange on the dashboard. for whatever reason in the beta editor, gifs (or any image) that is pasted in using a link, rather than uploaded, will display as such:

to fix this, all you have to do is delete the “v” in the url of the gif image, making it a .gif rather than a .gifv. for those of you with some html fluency, that should be fairly self-explanatory, but below the cut, you can find a detailed guide!
and yes, the .gifv format will return if you go back and edit the post again, but good news: the little grey box will not! this is a one and done edit, which may be easier than saving & re-uploading gifs for each and every reply.
THE HTML STUFF.
this can be done at any point in the writing process. if you do gifs first, you can do this. if you do gifs last, it works after you’ve written or pasted in your reply, too. it even works if you’ve already posted the reply and forgot to edit it -- just make sure your partner doesn’t draft your reply before you fix it, if the aesthetic matters that much to you!
first, click on the gear on the upper right hand corner of the post you’re making. then, at the bottom of the window that comes up, under “Text Editor,” use the drop down menu to change from “Rich text” to “HTML”.

it should look like this:

then, find your IMG SRC and, at the end, the “.gifv” the “v,” as selected in this image, can then be deleted.

your final result will look like this:

at this point you can reverse your steps and go back into the “Rich text” editor, or you can just save the post. the next time you go to edit, it should default back to “Rich text” either way.
HAPPY ROLEPLAYING!
