What Are the Must-Have Elements for a Modern Dining Room?
Creating a modern dining room is about more than just choosing the right furniture; it’s about establishing a space that reflects your style while maximizing functionality. Here are some must-have elements that can transform your dining room into a contemporary haven.
1. Statement Dining Table
At the heart of any dining room is the dining table. For a modern aesthetic, consider a table with clean lines, unique materials like glass or reclaimed wood, or a sculptural shape that serves as a conversation starter. Round tables can create a more intimate atmosphere, while rectangular tables are great for larger gatherings.
2. Chic Seating
Complement your table with stylish seating options. Look for chairs that offer both comfort and design appeal. Mid-century modern chairs with sleek profiles and vibrant upholstery can add a pop of color, while upholstered benches can provide a cozy feel. Don’t hesitate to mix and match styles for an eclectic look.
3. Functional Lighting
Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the ambiance of your dining space. A statement chandelier or pendant light above the table can draw attention and create a focal point. Consider adjustable dimmers to switch between bright lighting for family dinners and softer lighting for romantic evenings.
4. Art and Decor
Incorporate artwork or decorative pieces that reflect your personality. Large-scale paintings, wall-mounted sculptures, or an eye-catching gallery wall can add depth and interest. Choose decor that complements your color palette and enhances the overall theme of your dining room.
5. Natural Elements
Bringing nature indoors is a key trend in modern design. Incorporate plants or floral arrangements to add a refreshing touch. Consider a large potted plant in a corner or a minimalist vase of fresh flowers as a centerpiece to breathe life into the space.
6. Smart Storage Solutions
Maximize space and minimize clutter with stylish storage solutions. Open shelving can display elegant dinnerware or decorative pieces, while closed cabinetry can store items out of sight. A well-designed sideboard or buffet table can also serve as a functional serving area during meals.
7. Textiles and Layers
To create warmth and texture, incorporate textiles such as table runners, placemats, or cushions. A stylish rug can define the dining area and add comfort underfoot. Choose fabrics that are easy to clean and maintain, especially if you have children or frequent guests.
8. Color Palette
Choose a cohesive color palette that reflects modern design principles. Neutral tones with pops of color or monochromatic schemes can create a sophisticated atmosphere. Consider using accent walls or bold wallpaper to add character without overwhelming the space.

Banqueta Wednesdays at Marriott Cafe Offers Unlimited Steak and Elevated Street Food Buffet
Most of us grew up enjoying Filipino street food, from the classic fishballs and turon, to the more exotic isaw, kwek kwek, and adidas. Most of these delicacies are quite familiar to me, but as I grew older, I encountered them less frequently, especially since street food is seen to be less hygienic. That's why I was happy to find out that we can now enjoy all these classic favorites at a cleaner and much safer environment with Marriott Cafe's Banqueta Wednesdays!
Marriott Cafe is Marriott Manila’s all day dining restaurant located at the ground floor lobby. You can now enjoy unlimited steak, seafood, and Filipino street food favorites in a refined setting every Wednesday dinner from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm at the Banqueta Wednesdays for only ₱2,999 nett per person.
Banqueta Wednesdays is the ultimate night market with a wide variety of Filipino street food stations, unlimited steak and international buffet selections at their open-theatre kitchens.
You can start at the appetizers and salad stations which offers various breads and Asian starters like kimchi, spicy fish cake, mushroom dinakdakan, itlog na maalat at kamatis, and others.
Then head over to the main buffet table where you can get some Baked Penne, Vegetable Casserole, and Polenta together with a few wraps of Shawarma.
The Seafood Paella is one of the highlights here with its delicious combination of crabs, mussels, and prawns on a bed of flavorful paella rice.
Just beside this is the carving station which has this gorgeous Porchetta as the centerpiece. The skin is so crispy so make sure you get a few slices for yourself.
They also have a pasta station where you can ask for Grandma's Pomodoro that will be freshly cooked for you a la minute.
Next, make your way to the Japanese station where you can find a colorful selection of sushi together with Takoyaki Balls and Okonomiyaki.
The main attraction at Banqueta Wednesdays is the Banqueta Display right in the center of the buffet area. Here you can find an assortment of Filipino street food favorites like chicken isaw, pork isaw, fishballs, vegetable skewers, and okoy.
Other exotic items available include pork ears, kwek kwek, tokneneng, pork barbecue, and adidas or chicken feet. These are items that you do not typically see in a five-star hotel buffet but Marriott Cafe makes these accessible to everyone during Banqueta Wednesdays. They even have some Balut and Penoy eggs.
Marriott Cafe goes one step further because aside from all the Filipino street food, you can also enjoy unlimited steak, crabs, prawns, mussels, clams, and squid.
Just pick the items and skewers you like and hand them over to the grilling station. These will be cooked right on the spot and delivered straight to your table.
Now these are items you don't see every day at five star hotels! These classic Filipino street food dishes also bring a sense of nostalgia for those who used to eat these during their childhood.
Of course, you can also enjoy the more luxurious side of Banqueta Wednesdays with unlimited servings of steak to go with your choice of seafood.
Don't forget about the other international stations at Marriott Cafe like the Chinese station. Here you can find Chinese roastings including roast pork and roast chicken. There's also several dimsum specialties to choose from.
The Paluto station is also a must visit with its live fish that you can cooked according to your liking. Have it steamed in soy sauce or cooked Singaporean style with sweet chili sauce.
To make Banqueta Wednesdays even more authentic, there's a small sari sari store offering Samalamig beverages like buck panda, sago't gulaman, and melon drinks. Make sure to grab some street snacks too.
The Dessert station offers many ways to complete your steak and street food buffet. You can get some fruits, brownies, cookies, egg tarts, and Filipino desserts like sapin-sapin, kutsinta, cassava cake, and more that you can dip inside the grand Chocolate Fountain.
There are also several cakes and pastries to choose from including Brownie Pie, Swiss Strawberry Roll, Chocolate Mousse, and Swan Puff Diplomat. You can also get as many scoops of gelato as you want at the Gelato station.
Guests can also order Marriott Cafe's Drink of the Month which can be served in alcoholic or non-alcoholic versions. This comes with a very cute stuffed toy that you can bring home with you.
Banqueta Wednesdays is available every Wednesday until December 18, 2024. For inquiries and reservations, you may call them 8988-9999 and (0917) 584-9560. Enjoy an elevated street food buffet experience only at Marriott Manila!

[ad_1] Hilton Honors loyalists, families and lovers of the sun and sea, Aruba is calling — and there's a brand-new, totally affordable Embassy Suites waiting for you to visit. Now open, the charming new Embassy Suites by Hilton Aruba Resort is a fresh take on the much-loved brand. If you didn't know, Embassy Suites has a number of resort properties in the U.S. already, and the Aruba outpost marks the second in the Caribbean, following the Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort.Great for families, with lots of room to spread out plus perks like easy beach access, free breakfast, on-site restaurants and pools to splash around in, there are a lot of reasons to consider this property for your next tropical vacation. Here are just a few of the ways that this resort stands out. You're guaranteed a 2-room suiteHILTONAt the resort, all of the 330 accommodations are two-room suites featuring either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds and a living room with a pull-out couch to accommodate more sleepers, a dining table, large TV and a wet bar area with a microwave and minifridge. The bathrooms are bright and modern with glass-enclosed showers, in-mirror lighting and shower amenities. Better yet, most rooms include balconies so you can slide open the doors and let the salty island air flow straight into the room.HILTONFor even more space to spread out, request connecting rooms.Since it's a new property, expect a fresh design compared to other Embassy Suites you might have visited. This one brings the colors and textures of the island inside with vivid blues and corals, as well as wooden elements and artworks representing the abundant sea life in the nearby waters.HILTONIf you're really drawn to the water, reserve a room with direct access to the pool. There's a tunnel that takes you right to the beachMARQUICIO PAGOLA/GETTY IMAGESThough the resort is literally across the street from the white sands of the world-famous Eagle Beach, you don't actually have to cross the road to get there, thanks to an underground walkway connecting the two. That means you can easily load up your bags (don't forget the sunscreen!) and get your family and friends playing in the water in no time.Sign up for our daily newsletterRelated: 9 amazing places to use points for a trip to the CaribbeanThere are activities for the whole family, especially kidsThe Embassy Suites brand is popular with families, thanks to spacious rooms that enable everyone to spread out from each other. At this particular property, there's plenty to do outside of the room, too.For starters, there's a massive pool with cabanas and lounge chairs perfect for idling away the days. And for the younger ones in the pack, there's a kid-friendly pool, an outdoor playground to monkey around on and even kid-specific activities like scavenger hunts on offer.Related: 6 fun things to do with kids in ArubaIn addition, there's a 24/7 fitness center with gym equipment to help stay active (if the pool and beach aren't enough) as well as fitness classes like yoga and aerobics. There are 5 food and beverage outlets to exploreHILTONDon't worry about going hungry or getting dehydrated: There are places on the property to sit down for a full meal, have a quick beer or simply grab a snack to take with you to the beach.Start your morning at the lobby restaurant, where free breakfast is served buffet-style along with views of the Caribbean Sea. A grab-and-go market offers coffee and easy-to-carry snacks and meals like sandwiches, while the lobby bar and cafe is the place for light bites, beer, wine, cocktails and even a complimentary reception each evening. And by the pool, there's an outdoor bar to grab a drink as well as Splash, a poolside snack bar.Breakfast is free for everyoneOne of the main reasons people love Embassy Suites is its free breakfast buffet that offers hot and cold items, including a made-to-order omelet station, our readers' favorite breakfast item.Free breakfast at hotels is a huge
money saver, especially for large families, considering that breakfast at luxury resorts can easily cost $30 per person, if not more. And at Embassy Suites, free breakfast doesn't mean bad breakfast. Last year when TPG compared 10 different free hotel breakfasts in a head-to-head battle, alongside a food expert, we found that the brand had the best breakfast in the bunch (and the only one with made-to-order omelets).HILTONSoon there will even be a spaThough the details are sparse right now, later this year this resort will open a spa with a sauna as well as five treatment rooms offering massages, facials and other treatments. There's plenty to explore nearbyEven though beach vacations are often spent relaxing in the sun, everyone should take some time to see what's around, too. Near this Embassy Suites guests can visit the Bubali Bird Sanctuary to spot over 80 species of migratory birds, head to the Butterfly Farm to learn how caterpillars almost magically transform into beautiful winged creatures, or stop by the California Lighthouse for a cute family photo.HILTONHow to bookRates at the new Embassy Suites by Hilton Aruba Resort start at $399 or 80,000 Hilton Honors points per night. With the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card, you could snag a free night by earning 130,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after you spend $2,000 on purchases on the card within your first three months of cardmembership.Related reading: [ad_2] Source link

Assuage: Chapter 2
Yoongi x Reader
Genre: ABO (Alpha/Beta/Omega) dynamics, angst, fluff, smut, enemies to lovers
Warnings: None to note.
The following week that Yoongi spent in the medical cabin was quite possibly the most boring of his life. After what he had been through though, he realized that he almost preferred the quiet and stillness that was trademark of the medical cabin that he had been staying in.
In addition to memorizing how many indents were in the right hand side of the wall right next to the cot that he slept on (73, to be exact), he also learned just how annoying of a person Kim Taehyung was.
“Come on hyung,” Taehyung whined playfully as he pulled on Yoongi’s right arm. “I really wanna show you around pack territory.”
“I didn’t say that you can call me hyung,” Yoongi grumbled back.
“I snuck a peak at your medical records when Y/N-ah wasn’t looking. You’re 27 and I’m only 22 so you’re my hyung,” Taehyung smirked mischievously.
“And I don’t need a tour,” Yoongi continued on. “I’m not staying here.”
“No offense hyung, but you’re a Prime Alpha,” Taehyung pointed out. “Your injuries are more than healed enough for you to be able to leave so if that was what you really wanted to do, then you would’ve done it already.” Yoongi just glared at him then, hating the fact that the Beta was very much so correct.
“Alright, fine,” Yoongi relented. “But make it quick.”
“I promise hyung, super quick,” Taehyung nodded in agreement.
After pushing Taehyung away when he tried to help Yoongi up, he slowly followed Taehyung outside of the medical cabin and this was the first time that Yoongi had seen the surroundings of the cabin. There were several large buildings that weren’t far from each other, and Yoongi figured that this area served as a “town commons” of sorts. He could also see some smaller cabins that were further in the distance, and he just assumed that those were for individual members of the pack and their families.
“As you know, this is our medical cabin,” Taehyung began as he motioned behind them before pointing his finger over to the right. “That over there is the schoolhouse for the pups and right next to it is the dining hall.”
“Everyone has to eat there?” Yoongi questioned, the idea of being forced to eat around a large group of people not appealing to him in the slightest.
“No, we mainly just use it for big ceremonial events, like parties or if another pack visits, stuff like that,” Taehyung explained. “It’s still open everyday though, for all three meals, for whoever wants to go there and eat if they don’t feel like cooking themselves.”
“Ahh,” Yoongi nodded.
“That over there,” Taehyung continued, pointing over to his left now. “Is the Head Hall, which is where Namjoon and the other leaders of the pack work. And right next to that, is the hardware shop.”
“You guys have a hardware store?” Yoongi interrupted him. “You guys just don’t get furniture and stuff from the Betas in Seoul?”
“Nope. I think you’ll realize that around here, we tend to follow the Old Way of pack life, and that includes making everything that we need ourselves,” Taehyung told him. “Speaking of that, do you have anything that you’re particularly good at?”
“Um, I’m pretty good with my hands and building things, I guess,” Yoongi shrugged.
“Cool, Namjoon hyung will probably have you working with Kibum then. He’s the head carpenter,” Taehyung said as he began to walk away and Yoongi trailed behind him. “That is, if you decide to stay.”
“Hmm,” Yoongi hummed noncommittally. Just then, a loud bell rang out into the air, causing Yoongi to almost jump out of his skin. “What the hell was that?”
“Oh, that was just the signal that if anyone wants it, there’s lunch in the dining hall,” Taehyung grinned. “Personally, I’m starving. What about you hyung, you hungry?”
..........................
Yoongi was very much not hungry, but he couldn’t tell Taehyung that before he had managed to grabbed Yoongi’s good hand and lead him into the dining hall. The dining hall was separated by two large rooms, one with multiple stoves and other kitchen appliances and the other with multiple long, rectangular dining tables complete with chairs.
After bypassing the rectangular buffet style table that sat right in front of the entrance, Taehyung dragged Yoongi into the room with the dining tables, leading him over to one of the tables in the front that was full of people.
“Oh, he let you drag him out,” a tall, slender man snickered and Yoongi could tell by his scent that he was an Omega.
“Don’t make fun Jin hyung, be nice,” Taehyung grumbled as he sat down, motioning for Yoongi to do the same.
“I’m always nice!” Jin shot back, making everyone at the table except Yoongi laugh at him.
“Yeah right,” a woman sitting right next to him giggled before turning to look at Yoongi. “Hi, I’m Hyorin, Pack Omega and Namjoon’s mate.”
“I’m Yoongi,” he grumbled back in reply.
“I should’ve done introductions huh?” Taehyung suddenly spoke up, as if remembering his manners. “Yoongi hyung, this is Park Jimin.”
“Hi, I’m an Omega and I’m the teacher for the pups in the pack,” Jimin added with a wide smile.
“This is Jung Hoseok, but we call him Hobi,” Taehyung said as he motioned towards Hobi.
“Alpha,” Hobi nodded evenly at Yoongi.
“This meanie over here is Kim Seokjin,” Taehyung rolled his eyes playfully.
“Omega, I only go by Jin, and I’m not mean!” Jin stated firmly.
“Are you guys related?” Yoongi found himself asking, and both Kims shrugged their shoulders.
“Yes, but not in the way that you’re probably thinking,” Jin replied.
“We’re cousins,” Taehyung elaborated. “My father and his mom were siblings.”
“Ahh,” Yoongi nodded.
“Hey hey,” a sudden voice called and when Yoongi looked over his shoulder, he saw a tall, muscular man walking towards him, you and Namjoon following behind him.
“Hey, took you long enough,” Taehyung smiled widely, his scent increasing when the man leaned down and kissed his forehead. “Yoongi hyung, this is Jungkook.”
“Nice to meet you Yoongi,” Jungkook nodded towards him, his eyes widening when he took a sniff of the air. “Holy shit, you’re Prime.”
“Tae didn’t tell you?” Namjoon chuckled as he took a seat next to Hyorin. “I figured he wouldn’t be able to keep his mouth shut.”
“I was trying to let Yoongi hyung rest and not be bombarded,” Taehyung explained before looking over at Jungkook, who had sat down on the opposite side of him from Yoongi. “Sorry baby Alpha.”
“I’m hurt,” Jungkook smiled, reaching over and lightly running his fingertips over Taehyung’s wrist, where his scent gland was. Suddenly, there was another bell and Yoongi noticed that people were beginning to get up and move towards the long buffet table. Yoongi began to get up as well, until Taehyung’s hand on his shoulder stopped him.
“Not yet hyung,” Taehyung said and Yoongi’s eyebrows rose as he looked at him.
“Why not? The food’s ready, right?” Yoongi wondered.
“Yeah but in our pack, pups and elders eat first,” Taehyung told him.
“Seriously?” Yoongi chuckled in disbelief. “Shouldn’t the Alphas eat first, if anyone?”
“And why would they eat first?” You questioned from your seat next to Jimin, and Yoongi cut his eyes at you.
“Well for starters, Alphas are the ones who hunt and bring back the food in the first place,” Yoongi began. “And secondly, Alphas are at the top of the hierarchy anyways.”
“Not around here, they’re not,” you chuckled. “Look, in this pack, anyone who wants to hunt can, so it’s not just exclusive to Alphas. And we feed pups and elders first because without the elders, our pack would have no guidance and without the pups, our pack would have no future so we respect them as such.”
“Well, that’s not how it worked in my old pack,” Yoongi shrugged.
“We’re not your old pack and for the sounds of it, that’s a good thing,” you smiled. An awkward silence settled over the table then, everyone not knowing what to say. Yoongi looked over you, noticing that you had a tattoo on your right shoulder.
“Oh, would you look at that?” Hyorin spoke up cheerily. “Looks like the pups and elders are done.”
“Come on Yoongi,” Jimin spoke up as he stood, motioning for Yoongi to follow him. “I’ll show you how to get the food.” Yoongi nodded and stood up, noticing out of his peripheral vision how you looked at him as he walked away.
After they all had received their food, they all took their previous places at the dining table, chatting and making jokes among themselves. Yoongi sat there, silently attempting to feed himself with his left hand because he wanted to work on trying to strengthen it again from the fracture.
“Yoongi, how are your injuries doing?” Hyorin wondered suddenly and Yoongi looked up at her before shrugging.
“They’re ok, I guess,” he replied.
“His fracture is almost completely healed,” you interjected and Yoongi looked over at you.
“Oh, what I would give to be Prime,” Jungkook moaned playfully, making Taehyung laugh as he gently patted Jungkook’s hand.
“It’s ok baby Alpha,” he cooed. “If it’s any consolation, you smell better than Yoongi hyung does.”
“Rude,” Yoongi muttered, almost jumping out of his skin when everyone at the table laughed.
“He smells like freshwater, with a little hint of mango,” Jimin noted after taking a quick sniff of the air. “There’s nothing wrong with that.”
“Unless you’ve grown up around saltwater all your life,” you joked, making Yoongi narrow his eyes at you as the table giggled at your joke.
“I’m an Alpha,” Yoongi reminded you. “I’m supposed to smell strong and stable. Besides, I’d prefer that over a fake ass, industrialized bubble gum scent.”
“First of all, it’s not industrialized or bubblegum, you dumb ass. You’re the one with the ‘Prime’ senses, you should be able to tell,” you spat back. “It’s white peaches and oranges.”
“Oh woop-de-damn-do,” Yoongi growled, and your eyes widened momentarily before you released a hiss of your own.
“Alright you two, cut it out,” Namjoon stated firmly, and both you and Yoongi glared at each other for a few moments longer before stopping.
“Thank God, I can’t eat with too many pheromones' in the air,” Jin rolled his eyes.
“So Yoongi, Tae was telling me that you’re pretty handy,” Namjoon suddenly said, expertly changing the subject and Yoongi was grateful for the out.
“Yeah,” he confirmed.
“Well, I’ll set you up with Kibum then,” Namjoon told him. “He’s a little older and he’ll probably be happy to have the extra help. That is, if you’re willing.”
“I mean, I guess,” Yoongi shrugged carelessly.
“There’s also a free cabin just on the edge of our territory that you can stay in,” Namjoon continued.
“Hyunbin’s old one?” Hobi interjected and Namjoon nodded his head.
“If you want, I can take you there after we get done eating,” Namjoon offered.
“Sure,” Yoongi replied and that was the end of that conversation as everyone resumed their previous discussions. When Taehyung first told Yoongi about the dining hall, he had balked at the concept of having to eat around complete strangers but now that he was actually doing it, Yoongi had to admit that he kind of liked the company. It wasn’t something that he was used to in his old pack, but it’s not as if he would’ve wanted to eat or even converse with most of his former packmates anyways.
The whole thing was very abnormal to him but when he allowed himself to think about it, he had to admit that he kind of....liked the whole thing. He wasn’t ready to admit that out loud though; not yet, anyways.
..........................
Once lunch was over, Yoongi followed silently behind Namjoon as he led him to the cabin that he had told him about. As they walked, Yoongi made sure to take note of how to get there, since he would be staying there until he figured something else out.
“And here we are,” Namjoon announced as he walked up the front steps to the cabin, pausing and taking a key out of his pocket to unlock the door before stepping inside. When Yoongi walked in behind him, he took a look around the cabin. Stepping through the front door led straight into the living room, and Yoongi could see that there was a little kitchen off to his right and a small hallway off to his left, where he assumed the bedroom and bathroom were.
“It’s bare because it hasn’t been used in about 7 months, but you can feel free to do what you wish with it,” Namjoon explained. “Working with Kibum though, I’m sure that this place will be filled in no time.”
“Yep,” Yoongi mumbled as he walked around Namjoon in order to get a better look around the cabin.
“Look Yoongi, I understand that you might be a little weary of me and the pack after what happened to you,” Namjoon began and Yoongi turned around to look at him. “But I do hope that you can understand that there’s no one who wishes to harm you here. We are a pack who takes care of each other and that now includes you, even if you decide that you want your stay to be temporary. Ok?”
“I get it,” Yoongi nodded, hesitating for a few seconds before continuing. “Thanks, for the cabin and...everything else.”
“You’re welcome,” Namjoon smiled, holding out his hand and when Yoongi reached out as well, Namjoon dropped the key to the cabin into his hand. “Well, I’ll let you try and get settled.”
“Alright,” Yoongi agreed easily, watching as Namjoon nodded at him once before turning and walking out of the cabin, shutting the door behind him. Yoongi then took another look around the cabin, sighing heavily when he realized that complete strangers had treated him better after only knowing him for a week than his old pack had after knowing him his entire life.

Invitations are slipped under every door of the residents in the palace and placed in every mailbox in the village, each one containing information for a grand golden ball the palace has been planning in secret for weeks. Between the avalanche and move around the world, the administration, in conjuncture with their gracious hosts, have thrown a ball, dripping in decadence, to both welcome the royalty and their entourage, and celebrate the end of summer.
For those lacking the resources of the royalty, the seamstresses of the castle are on hand and happy to donate their time so that all may partake in the formal gala.
The doors to the royal ballroom open at 7pm sharp, revealing a louche scene fit for Dionysus himself. The walls are clad in golden silk curtains, the buffets tables support an abundance of rich foods. Even the staff move through the room fluidly, dressed in tailored gold suits. A number of bars are set throughout the grand space serving a number of specialty cocktails with edible glitter so that they sparkle. And everywhere you look, light reflects off another tasteful piece of golden décor. The room is an embarrassment of riches; dripping in gold.
The kitchen wanted to honors it’s guests and their many nationalities. Among the hors d'oeuvres, both sitting on the table and being passed you’ll find:
Gougère with a smoked salmon filling
Ahi Poke served on a Crisp Wonton Skin
King Crab Cakes, topped with Verde Aioli
Wagyu Beef Kalbi Skewers
Phyllo Pastry stuffed with Feta, Mint, Mozzarella, and Egg
Shami Kebab Balls, topped with a Chili Lime Crema
Farmer’s Cheese Stuffed Pampushki topped with Chive Sour Cream
Decadent chocolate cake covered in gold leaf
Daifuku Mochi
Baklava
Boterkoek
And more!
And not to mention, fully stocked bars serving a number of specialty drinks. Ever wanted to try a Black Currant Martini with edible glitter swirling around it? Perhaps your style is a Peach Bellini with 14karat gold rings sitting in the bottom? And don’t forget that stunning, larger than life, champagne fountain.
Guests of all ages are encouraged to mingle, dance, and partake in all the lavish offerings the castle has provided. Including a breathtaking view of the beach at sunset. The only agenda for tonight is fun!
But, friends, make sure you keep an eye out for updates. Some people just can’t help themselves...
OOC:
BOOM! EVENT! Brought to you buy Jack, Stella, Leah, and Me. Everyone loves a good fancy event, and we thought it was about time for one! There’s more to come though, so like I said, keep an eye out.
There’s no rules here, so post starters whenever you like I suppose, though I would heavily recommend, not posting new starters for this portion of the event past 8/21. Just helps keep it relevant.
This event is only taking place in the WOR verse, though I personally would love to see more verses get something similar soon and would love to lend a hand in that.
As it says on the graphic itself, formal wear is required. Because of this, villagers and staff without the same resources have been urged to reach out the the seamstress located in the palace. They’re happy to provide gowns and tuxes if needed to ensure that all characters can participate and wear luxurious outfits.
Like the graphic? You’re welcome [you might be able to tell I gave up there a little bit, but it’s fine] And if this is something you’d like on your page, I encourage you to reblog it. Thanks y’all, and we’d be happy to get some feedback about it too!

starter for @eriifmd
all gather around the dinner table, they say. it’s all non-mandated events, pushed into forceable ties when her stomach grumbles and she has nothing more than the same american buffet style food. at this point, it’s no use when the shin ramen cup back in the room serves a better time than the lines of people she’s forced to interact with.
today, it’s her manager that nudges her to sit down in the open. no longer pocketed to a corner where the wall reflects her mindless musings — now, it’s a situation where there’s no aversion to conversation.
what she can hope for is a quick break — finish it up, then leave. no time for conversations when she can scoot out of there the faster she slipped in. yet, by the time a stranger takes a seat in front of her, the act is up and she turns her gaze towards the new face. scrunching her brows together, it’s one she doesn’t know. hasn’t seen (maybe, a fan intrusion is entertainment in the making). “if you’re here to meet your favorites, i’d say you’re blending in just fine.” minjung’s face peers over the other’s, a quick slip of a wink. “but just be aware, if the managers find out, it’ll be a quick game of cat and mouse. so, best of luck — i’m rooting for you.”

" yes, yes, i understand the confusion. well, old chum, as you have likely noticed, the cost of inflammation has demanded that even the higher tiers of evolution must work for their supper. fortunately, dear ms. jones was quite receptive to the idea of a bar at her eatery, and so now you can enjoy a rather tasty little cocktail with your nibbles. so what will it be? eh? an elderly fashioned? a sexy beach? pina colorado? i'm very familiar with the art of mixology, so you say the word and i'll get to it. pay no attention to the cameras... The Legitimate Role of Food & Beverage in Meetings and Events
Have you ever been to a big event that had no food or beverage choices? It's extremely unlikely! Food and beverage is commonly one of the biggest (if not the biggest) expenses for events. Guests remember the fare at events, specifically if the event is centralized around a meal.
So why are we still treating food like an afterthought? As budgets still shrink and the price of food continues to ascend, it's easy to consider food service at gatherings as a "have to do." You could be persuaded to scrape something together for the smallest dollar amount.
But that rarely pays off. Because food and beverage at events isn't just about keeping people full-- it's a part of the experience, and that's.
If serving food at events was really just about feeding people, it would probably be more cost effective to give customers cash or vouchers to the nearest fast food restaurant.
It all goes back to the basics of hospitality There's a reason events fall into the greater hospitality industry. The event organizer-- whether it's a corporation, an association, or an individual-- is the host of an event. The attendees are the host's guests.
The idea of hospitality gets back to biblical times, when people would open up their homes to guests-- even complete strangers-- and break bread. The concept of sharing a meal brought on shared conversations, shared ideas, shared fellowship. Looks a lot like our present day event planning objectives or networking, right?
It's easy to realize that any food service is part of the hospitality package once you make the connection between event planning and hospitality. Any by food service, we mean anything at all-- from continental breakfast right through official plated dinners.
A meal isn't simply a meal. It's a chance to establish relationships, to bring folks together to break bread. All of a sudden, that budget line product is truly doing double duty!
Put real thought into your food and beverage options If you put a little effort into the menu selection, you can help make that meal do more for your meeting. Instead of thoughtlessly going with the budget-friendly buffet or the risk-free duet-plated entree, be imaginative and take some risks! Your patron will appreciate and remember it.
What about the budget? Yes, you will have to arrange food and drinks around your spending plan. Who says an inventive menu has to be expensive? You don't have to offer lobster tail and delicacies to be imaginative.
There are a lot of ways to mix things up without wrecking your budget. Here are a few of my favorite ideas:
Go for food stops: Do away with the plated dishes and do specialty food stations instead. It gets people moving and talking-- and it's usually lower cost. Every station can have a different theme (like places of the world) for a conversation starter among patrons.
DIY it: As opposed to a basic sandwich display, feature a make-your-own salad line with artistic toppings. Most patrons will appreciate the healthier options. Get interactive: Let customers get in on the action either using cooking presentations or "make your own" bars.
Go vintage: Nothing gets patrons talking much like nostalgia. Think: Sloppy joes, tater tots, or any kind of casserole.
Serve meals family style: By literally sharing a meal from a common platter, customers will make certain to initiate conversations with each other.
Want extra information about food and beverage in activities? What is food and beverage procedures? F&B operations entail the buying, preparation, serving, managing inventory, and catering services of an event venue.
How much food should I purchase for an event?
Suppose the event takes place throughout a single meal, the following loose guidelines generally work:
1 pound of entree dish per 3 people
1 pound of side dishes per 3 people
What are caterers tasked with? Typically, the responsibilities of a caterer at an event include preparation of food, serving it, cleaning up, staffing bars, and taking care of diners. Fairly recently, caterers services have expanded beyond that, as set by the caterer and event host.

pumpkin picking: everybody loves pumpkins, right ?? they’re just a truly incredible, reminiscent scent that takes everyone back to their childhood, when pumpkin carving was a family event !! you’ll be able to take a wagon ride around the pumpkin patch to pick your favorite pumpkins to carve && take home. pre-picked pumpkins are also an option if you don’t feel like going out to the field. they’ve got mums, winter squashes, indian corn, corn stocks, and gourds available, too !! betty jo && james have set up an arts && crafts station where you’ll be able to take the pumpkin of your choosing && carve it any way you want. you’ll also be able to decorate apples, create your own halloween decorations, or paint your face && pumpkin with the paint they’ve allowed us to use. you can cut flowers && build your own flower bouquet, too !! find your inner child again with this activity !!

hayrides: led by james himself, you’ll be able to go through the farm on a tractor drawn hayride. if you are up for a relaxing evening under the stars in the country, then this is the attraction for you !! the tractor will take you on an hour hayride through the farm. it is extremely peaceful && the night lit sky will make the experience worthwhile. but beware, once the sun says goodnight, lurkers from nearby come out to play. some will follow you, others will try to take you back to the woods with them, but rest assured, all of them will make sure you scream like a child.
bonfire: as always, there’s nothing better on a fall night than a bonfire !! the smith’s have a world class firepit that’s able to grow tall once it’s sparked. once the sun goes down, they’ll be bringing you the first campfire of the fall season !! you’ll be able to make corn on the cob, hot dogs, homemade donuts, and of course, s’mores !! exchange ghost stories by the fire or sing some halloween songs while you sit under the flames. end the night with memories you won’t forget !!

hide your face (so the world will never find you)
Masquerade! Paper faces on parade Masquerade!
They’re the guests of honor tonight.
Fjord guesses that’s what’s supposed to happen when you’ve saved the world about half a dozen times and counting. It is a bit surreal though. Looking down at the sea of people crowding the Lavish Chateau and knowing they’re there for you, because of you.
He hasn’t joined the party yet, choosing instead to watch the revelry below from one of Jester’s childhood hiding places. He observes the masquerade through a simple face mask; a deep forest green, dappled with lighter greens, decorated with kelp and colorful sea glass, and held in place with a piece of the red cord he’s carried with him since his time on the Tide’s Breath. Jester had insisted that they all keep their masks and costumes a secret until the party, so Fjord makes a game out of searching the crowd for his friends.
Nott (Veth he has to remind himself. Not Nott anymore. Veth) er, Veth is easy enough to spot, leading Yeza around the buffet table. She’s wearing a pretty yellow dress, embroidered with delicate flowers. Her dark hair is braided into an elaborate updo, dark eyes sparkling with excitement above her broken porcelain mask.
He picks Caduceus out next, his firbolg form towering over most of the guests, but especially the white-haired gnome he’s conversing with. The beetle mask he’s wearing should be creepy as fuck, but his soft, floppy ears and long waterfall of hair soften the edges and make him look only mildly disconcerting.
Yasha would be hard to miss in a crowd, even without the large white wings that sprout from her shoulders. Her dress is midnight blue, embroidered with silver thread in patterns reminiscent of a lightning strike. Fjord thinks her white avian mask might be an eagle of some kind, but it’s hard to tell with her head ducked as it is, eyes on her dance partner.
Her dance partner being Beau. Beau, who Fjord wouldn’t recognize if he didn’t already know what her mask looked like. They’d gone shopping for masks together (Jester had pouted for hours when she found out), and he’d been the one to find the elaborate owl mask that looked a little too much like Professor Thaddeus. She’s dressed in a charcoal grey suit trimmed with blue. It has sleeves. Beauregard Lionett is willingly wearing sleeves and dancing and isn’t trying to start a brawl with the goliath from Vox Machina. He’s so proud he could cry.
It takes him a while to find Caleb. He’s sequestered himself in a dark corner (another one of Jester’s favored hiding spots), like Fjord, keeping himself separate from all of the attention and praise that none of them are quite sure they deserve. His cat mask is pushed up so he can better focus on his conversation partner. Essek, Fjord realizes with no small amount of shock. They’d invited him of course, at a banquet in Rosohna celebrating the end of the war, but none of them had expected him to actually show, Caleb especially.
Fjord searches the room for Jester fruitlessly. She isn’t by the stage, where a family of gnomes called the Shorthalt Seven play song after song. She isn’t sitting down with Allura Vysoren and her wife, Kima, who have abandoned their masks (a golden swan and a silver dragon, respectively) in favor of wine and ale. Nor is she at her mother’s side as Marion flirts with both Lord and Lady de Rolo. The Lady’s bronze dragon mask does little to muffle her laughter as her husband flushes a brilliant crimson behind a raven. She isn’t pestering Taryon Darrington, who is wearing a garish mask that can only be his construct, Doty. (the construct is wearing a mask, too. A truly horrifying thing that Fjord can only guess is supposed to be a likeness of Taryon.) In all of the music, laughter, dancing, drinking, mischief, and general chaos of the evening, Jester is nowhere to be found.
“Looking for someone?”
Fjord nearly cracks his head on a low beam jumping at the soft voice beside him. He’s halfway to summoning the Star Razor before he thinks that it might not be the best idea to run a random party guest through with a sword. He does spin towards the voice, and comes face to face with Keyleth of the Air Ashari and Vox Machina. The Voice of the Tempest. The powerful as fuck archdruid that could level the Chateau if she really wanted to.
Her rabbit mask is pushed up between her antlers, so he can see her wince and blush. “Sorry,” she says. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
He waves off her apologies. “It’s fine, really,” he says, taking a breath and willing his heart to stop racing. “I just wasn’t expecting anyone else to be up here, that’s all.”
Keyleth nods, her mask slipping a little with the movement. “I get it,” she says. “Don’t get me wrong, I love getting dressed up, and the free drinks are always a plus, but the whole socializing part of events like these have never been my forte.”
“It’s not the socializing I mind,” he says, searching for the right words. “It’s being the center of attention that bothers me, I suppose. Especially when-”
“You feel like you don’t deserve any of it, and you’re terrified that everyone will realize all at once how much of a fuck-up you truly are and throw you out on your ass?” Keyleth finishes, giving him a wry grin.
Fjord laughs. “Um, yes. To all of that.”
“Unfortunately, that feeling never really goes away,” she says, shrugging. “Sorry.” She’s quiet for a moment. “Having friends helps,” she says eventually. “Getting to see the positive impact of something that you did? That helps, too.”
“Thank you,” he says. “I think it also helps knowing that you aren’t alone in what you’re feeling.”
Keyleth grins. “Don’t mention it. Now, did you need help finding someone?” Her fingertips spark with magic as she wiggles them at him. “I probably have a spell that can help.”
Fjord shakes his head. “Thank you, but sometimes it’s just nice to sit back and watch the crowd.”
She likely sees through the lie, but she doesn’t push it. “Okay,” she says awkwardly. “Well, I should probably get back before my friends send a search party after me. They can get kind of paranoid sometimes.”
He nods. “It was nice talking with you, Miss Keyleth.”
He’s turning back to search for Jester when Keyleth calls his name. He turns back to her, about halfway down the stairs, an unreadable expression on her face. “Yes?”
“One last piece of advice?” He nods. She takes a deep breath. “Don’t wait until it’s too late to tell someone how you really feel about them. It works out for some,” she adds, eyes darting to Lord and Lady de Rolo, now dancing close, lost to everyone else but each other. “But, the more time you get with someone you love, the better.”
He swallows past the lump in his throat. “Thank you,” he says quietly. “I’ll take that into consideration.”
What he doesn’t say is that he was already almost too late. They’d lost Jester during one of their recent battles. She’d gone down and Caduceus was too far away, too focused on keeping Caleb and Beau alive. Fjord and Yasha’s meager healing abilities hadn’t been enough, and, for twelve agonizing hours, Jester was lost to them. Cad was able to bring her back with Beau and Nott’s help. Fjord’s too. He’ll be damned if he can remember everything he said, but he knows he’d whispered his love to her, for only her to hear.
Keyleth is long gone when Jester’s voice interrupts his thoughts. “Fjo-ord, where are you? I’ve been looking everywhere for you. The party got too stuffy, so I went to my momma’s balcony for some fresh-”
He chuckles as her message cuts off. “Message received, loud and clear. Stay where you are, Jessie, I’ll be right up.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fjord finds Jester right where she said she’d be; in her mother’s room, out on the balcony, staring up at the night sky, the ocean breeze gently ruffling her hair. He stops to examine the mask that she’s left on the table before going out to join her. It’s a full face mask, styled after old theatre masks. One side laughing, one side crying; comedy and tragedy in one. The laughing side is a deep emerald green, the crying a jewel-bright pink, all accented with gold.
As he sets the mask aside and moves to join her on the balcony, he sees that the colors perfectly match her dress. The sleeveless bodice is patterned with harlequin diamonds, green, pink, and gold. Her skirt flares out, layer upon layer of emerald green tulle. She looks like a princess, and Fjord, in his simple mask and pirate costume, feels every inch a pauper.
The moment he sets foot on the balcony, she turns to him, and the smile she gives him wipes away any momentary insecurities.
“There you are, Fjord,” she teases. “It feels like I’ve been waiting forever.”
He grins, moves to lean against the railing. “Please accept my deepest apologies,” he says. “How ever can I make up for such a grievous error?”
Jester giggles. “Wellll, for starters, as cool as it is, you can take your mask off. This balcony has officially been declared a “no mask zone”.”
“Is that so?” he asks, smirking when she nods seriously. “I suppose I should comply, then. I wouldn’t want to break official rules.”
He unties his mask and hands it to Jester, watching as she runs her fingers over the sea glass. “This is really cool, Fjord,” she says, rubbing her thumb across a piece of kelp.
He blushes a bit, ducking his head. “Thanks, Jes. Yours is...gorgeous,” he says. “The wh-whole ensemble, really. I mean, gods, Jester, there’s rarely a day you don’t take my breath away, but tonight...gods, tonight...”
Her eyes are wide when he finally dares to look up at her, mouth hanging open just a little, a purple flush coloring her cheeks and chest. “Fjord...” She laughs a little, breathless. “Fjord, I...”
She’s speechless, searching for words, but she isn’t panicking. There are tears starting to gather at the corners of her eyes, but she’s smiling, and not the sad, pitying kind of smile she’d given Freddie de Rolo when he’d tried to kiss her, and she had to turn him down. He steps a little closer, gives her time to retreat if she wants. She doesn’t move.
He reaches up to stroke her cheek, and she leans into his touch, eyelashes fluttering. “We never did have that talk about the day you died,” he says softly. “Or about the day we brought you back.”
“No, we didn’t,” she says. She bites her lip. “What...what did you want to talk about?”
He has to close his eyes, can’t watch her face as he says what he’s about to say. “I don’t know what I would have done if we hadn’t been able to bring you back, Jester.” His head drops until his forehead meets hers. “Losing you would have destroyed all of us, certainly, but you can ask anyone, Jester. I was useless. It was only twelve hours, but it felt like a lifetime.”
She lets out a shaky breath that he can feel wash across his cheek. “And all of that stuff you said during the ritual?”
He pulls back just enough to look into her eyes. “I meant every word.”
Tears are flowing freely down her face. “Even the part where...”
“Especially the part where,” he says. “I’m in love with you, Jester Lavorre, and it shouldn’t have taken you dying for me to admit it.”
Her answering smile knocks all the breath from his lungs. Or maybe that’s her jumping to kiss him, throwing him off balance with her enthusiasm. He ends up on his back on the floor, Jester sprawled on top of him, both of them laughing hysterically.
“Oh gosh, Fjord,” Jester manages between giggles. “I’m sorry. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Jes, don’t you worry.” He pushes himself to sitting, giving her the chance to climb off of him. Instead, she settles more fully in his lap. “And you don’t ever have to apologize for trying to kiss me, alright?”
She grins, leaning in to kiss him. “Good,” she says. “Because I’m going to want to kiss you a lot. Like, a lot, a lot. I’m talking an obscene amount of kissing here, Fjord.”
He laughs, winds an arm around her waist. “I think I can live with that, darlin’.”
She rests her forehead against his. “Will you say it again, Fjord?”
He kisses her again. “I love you, Jester.”
“I love you, too, Fjord.”

HOW TO USE SIDEBOARDS
You might have often heard the word Sideboard or Credenza and wondered what it meant or you probably know what kind of a furniture item it is but are perplexed about using it.
Read on to get more information and interesting styling ideas about this extremely useful piece of furniture that is an absolute essential in both houses and commercial spaces!
What are Sideboards
When placed in the dining area and used to store or serve food, sideboards are called Buffets. Buffets were originally used for storing plates, glasses, place mats, table linen and other cutlery items in dining rooms. Now a days sideboards can be found anywhere in the house right from kitchens and living rooms to kids’ rooms.
They are flat-topped and have cupboards and/or drawers. Sideboards can be of any size but they are not made too tall, their height is generally 36 inches or less. They are so versatile, they can be bought or customised to complement any room in your home or apartment.
The advantage sideboards have over cupboards is that they can be made to look professional for use in commercial spaces as storage units. Hotels, bars, restaurants, cafés, bistros, boutique stores, chain stores and offices, any place can accommodate a sideboard anywhere and anytime. Even if your interiors are completely done or you are looking for some additional storage you can get a sideboard customised to fulfil all your requirements and in the exact same style or theme!
Why You Should Use Them
Once you start using a sideboard, you cannot go back. Mostly known for their storage capacity, they are multi-purpose and come in plenty of shapes, sizes and designs!
They offer storage without taking too much space. Sideboards are neat objects that look chic and happily store all our stuff. If your room doesn’t have a lot of space but plenty of objects to store, go for one that is shallow but tall. It will prevent the room from looking cluttered.
They add beauty to your space. Sideboards can be custom-made according to the color, material, design, shape and size you want. They can easily be turned into a conversation starter or blended in along with other furniture that you have. For example if your dining room has wooden furniture and needs some sprucing up, you can get a sideboard in the same wood but with a slightly darker or lighter stain than the dining table to accentuate it. Your sideboard could also be the accent piece in your room. Ornamentation techniques like bone inlay, tile work, metal inlay and hand painting etc. are really eye catching and add an artsy touch to the space. To make them stand out avoid using these techniques everywhere in the room and stick to just one sideboard decorated with one of these techniques. You can use the colours on the sideboard elsewhere in the room to make the look cohesive.
Use them to bring attention to your art. The art you hang above them will never go unnoticed. You can even display your paintings on them by keeping them against the wall. Build up the look by adding flowers, plants and other knick knacks that go with the color palette of the artwork. For example, to complement French style interiors, go for a sideboard with Cabriole legs and scalloped carving in cream or off white. Frame your artwork with ornate gold frames to complete the opulent quintessential French look!
They make excellent book racks. Modern sideboards can be designed to indulge book lovers. You can customise your sideboard design according to the book space you want. Shelves can be made as a part of the design or you can even place books on the top for easy access!
They can be turned into a mini indoor garden. If you don’t have a garden or want a mini garden in your house use your sideboard for it. Place different kinds of potted plants on the top. You can even hang some baskets on the wall above it. Go for indoor plants that give off oxygen at night as well!
Use them to show-off your collection. Most people have hobbies and like collecting something or the other. If you are one of those and are a proud collector of any kind of object, sideboards are perfect for you. Run-off-the-mill display units can be boring, instead opt for a sideboard that will give you the flexibility of choosing what to display and what to store.
They can double up as a bar. When you want wine storage but you don’t want to keep an entire cabinet dedicated to it, a sideboard with built in wine storage is the solution! You can conveniently store wine glasses, in the cupboard part. Depending on your choice you can keep it completely closed or partially open.
You can use it as a tea/coffee station. Tea or coffee lovers can set up their equipment on the top and store all the things they need for making their favourite beverage inside. This sideboard can be a part of the drawing room near the coffee table, where you can sit and enjoy it hot from the pot!
It can be used in small offices. For a small office it can be turned into a useful, dainty pantry. There are options available with wheels that can be easily moved around if you want it to multitask and be used as a serving table as well. Like I said, they are very versatile! Place trays, mugs, cups, saucers and spoons inside the cupboard. Sachets and boxes can be organised in plastic boxes and kept in the drawers. You can even keep some cookies and snacks inside it!
They make great TV stands. If you want a sleek media unit, look no further. You can easily use a sideboard in your bedroom as a TV stand. If you feel like getting a new TV console you can move your old sideboard to any other place in your house.
How to Use Them
Now that you know how useful these beauties are let’s talk about how to place them in different rooms of your apartment or in your boutique, café, store or hotel.
For Houses and Apartments
Sideboards can be used in any part of the house. They can be a part of the kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, pantry and kids’ room. For bedrooms you might want to consider sleeker options whereas living rooms could be furnished with bulkier ones depending on the space.
For kids’ rooms use them to store their toys, books and even clothes if you lack wardrobe space. Hang their artwork on the wall and use the top of the sideboard to keep a reading lamp and to display their pictures!
In your living room, place a comfortable armchair near the sideboard and opposite the sofa. You can keep books, reading glasses and other things that you need handy when sitting there! Since the coffee table is going to be at a distance keep your mug of tea on the sideboard while reading! Place a cool bluetooth speaker here to listen to your favourite music while lounging in the living room.
For Commercial Places
For commercial spaces, sideboards can be used in a variety of ways. Stores can use sideboards both for storage and display purposes. You can also get it made as an accent piece to bring attention to your products. For example, if there is a new collection in your store, you can get an eye catching sideboard made and display them on it. The focus will be entirely on them!
For cafés and restaurants, sideboards can store dishes and cutlery, display art or decorative items. If your café is decorated in Shabby Chic style, then you can use pretty, whimsical items in distress finish to liven it up!
Sideboards are indispensable for hotels. Right from reception to restaurant they can be used anywhere! In the reception area use a sleek, stylish sideboard to keep the welcome drinks. Since sideboards are flat topped, guests staying in rooms can keep their luggage on them. For rooms sideboards should be a combination of shelves and cupboards. Since the guests stay temporarily they need more open storage space as compared to closed.
For offices, as I mentioned earlier, they make great pantries. Executive sideboards are made in such a way that they can accommodate chairs and have enough storage capacity to store your files, stationery and other office products.

Danny Phantom Sentence Starters - S01E01-S01E11
I know I missed the Dannyversary by that much, but this show’s dialogue was gold and deserves to be acknowledged. I only did up to E11 because I ran out of transcripts, but I might do more some other time.
Feel free to change pronouns/wording/etc. as needed.
Episode 1 - Mystery Meat
Look at you! You're too excited to speak! So I'll just go on speaking.
Parents don't listen. Even worse, they don't understand! WHY CAN'T THEY ACCEPT ME FOR WHO I AM?!
No, no. The rumors about the new all-steak buffet in the teacher's lounge are completely untrue.
I ordered three mud pies. Do you know what they gave me? Three mud pies. With mud! From! The! Ground!
These are the best years of my life! After high school, it's all downhill for me!
I...command you to...go away!
Well, if this superhero thing doesn't work out, I can have an exciting career as a busboy.
I control lunch! Lunch is sacred! Lunch has rules!
Then perish!
How is it that I have the ghost powers and you're the weird kid?
This is all going in the memoir.
Episode 2 - Parental Bonding
Please! Don't say you've suddenly fallen for me. That line is so last semester.
You just set an all-time speed record for drowning in the shallow end of the gene pool.
Well, you are kind of cute. And you have great taste in underwear.
It's a lie, I'm not a ghost! I-I mean...she's not my girlfriend.
You better let her know your family's insane now. If you marry her and she finds out later, that's entrapment.
If you upset her, we're going to have a violent talk.
Excuse me! Excuse me! Adult coming through. I shave every day.
This dance gets better and better with every passing minute.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to dance with my wife. That's what we adults do, dance with our wives.
If by memories you mean things you remember that I don't, then yes! Go ahead and remind me of stuff I'll totally agree to remembering.
The DJ's still playing. And I think there's time for one last dance?
Episode 3 - One Of A Kind
Touch the box and your pelt will adorn my fireplace.
Who said yes? The person you asked if you were a conceited snob?
I don't have time for extra credit...or your agendas.
I can always stop and appreciate high-quality bullying.
Time flies when you're majestically scratching your butt.
[Name], come on. We're just a bunch of kids. In the zoo. At night. Alone.
Home in time for some well-deserved rest. But keep it quick, because you've got thirteen minutes.
Hmm, my sensors indicate you're an average human, destined for an average life after high school.
Hello, misplaced aggression.
Episode 4 - Attack Of The Killer Garage Sale
I'm doing a thesis on tutoring the un-tutorable, and you're disproving my thesis that nobody's un-tutorable!
Now that that twinkie's out of the way, you're coming to my party Saturday, right?
I say we hit the amusement park. I hear the new roller coaster has a free fall that'll take three years off your life expectancy.
Why don't we get invited to the really cool parties? We've got style, charm, good looks. At least I do, anyway.
This is not junk! Every single item in this box is of vital importance to me.
See you tonight. And just because I can't believe I'm saying it, I will say it again. See you tonight.
My great-granddad Izzy was an inventor. He invented that machine that twirls cellophane around deli toothpicks.
Well, is it the bomb? Is it fresh? Is it stoopid? With an o-o?
Oh, it's stupid. I'll give you that.
Who's your daddy?
Episode 5 - Splitting Images
Whoo! Take it off! No, seriously. He should take it off. That's weird.
You look like you've seen a ghost. Or something really scary that we don't see every single day.
Don't worry. Maybe girls will talk to you in college.
These gloves are made for grabbing!
Spiff diddly dee, man. So this is what it's like to have friends.
You may have my powers, but you sure don't know how to use them. 'Course, I don't know how to use them, but at least I know how not to use them better than you do.
You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses. You couldn't hit a guy with glasses. In fact, you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!
My fifteen minutes of popularity is up, and I wasn't even here for it.
Episode 6 - What You Want
Some people have a lot, and some people don’t. But everybody's got something. Me, I've got charm, good looks, and modesty.
Wh-where am I? And why do I feel that I'm special and adorable?
A car smashing into the twenty-eighth floor of anything is bad!
If I weren't a C student, I would've thought of that five days ago.
They say, "Be careful what you wish for." To that, I'd like to add a big, fat "Duh!"
Episode 7 - Bitter Reunions
Hey, we've been circling this town for hours. We could have been halfway to Florida by now. Ask for directions.
You have a battle cry, hilarious.
Dude, you are one seriously crazed-up fruit loop.
So, [Name], when did you first realize your husband was a monster bent on destroying his smarter, more successful, and better-dressed peers?
[Name], for all the years I thought you were a crackpot, I sort of apologize.
Episode 8 - Prisoners Of Love
There's a casserole in the freezer right next to the ectoplasmic residue samples!
Wow, heh, pretty much everyone who hates me all at one table. Just like high school.
Can I get anything, dearie? Coffee? Pudding? An extra helping of DOOM?!
But the one thing you know more than anything — even more than that ghosts exist and that your sister is a bitter old bat — is that I love you, baby.
Episode 9 - My Brother’s Keeper
I could hardly watch. Though I did get some good digital pics.
Here, take my seat, you've already taken my friends.
Another ringing endorsement for the town screw-up.
Another day, another 24 hours closer to a career of pumping gas.
Apparently, I'm gonna end up a hobo. I didn't even know they had hobos anymore!
I'm usually the sour one around here. But compared to everyone else, I'm the goth bird of happiness.
There's only an i in misery if you spell it that way!
Episode 10 - Shades Of Gray
Hey, who let the dogs in! ...You see, the song is "Who let the dogs out,” but I said “Who let the dogs in.”
Nice pooch! Easy. That lady isn't edible. And neither is anything she cooks.
NO! It was a fake-out make-out.
That's life! Well, your life, anyway.
379 girls at our school, and you've got to have a crush on the one with the weapons and the grudge.
Episode 11 - Fanning The Flames
Oh yeah, you’re one of a kind! Every single one of you.
Attention, freakishly dressed teen idol! I order you to cease and desist!
Wow. I just never realized...you’re really pretty when you’re about to fall off a building.
But you’re over there and I’m over here. I wanna be over there!
[Name], we can’t lock the kids in some medieval containment device.
You snuck out to see me! Oh, this is just like Romeo and Juliet, except I’m the one on the balcony, and I can understand everything we’re saying.
You want me to open up? Okay. Um, one time, when I was five, I really wanted a puppy, but my parents—
You’re beautiful when you’re wracked with guilt.
Mindless teenage rebellion and a killer light show? Is this an awesome concert or what!
This would an example of irony: a literary device employing the incongruity between what might be expected, and what actually occurs.
