What Poppy did to Zoey was absolutely racist. Zoey is a Black woman who was publicly humiliated and literally has fucking tomatoes thrown at her. Her past arrest for being shoplifted is broadcasted to the entire school and the only reason she was arrested in the first place was because she was the only Black girl there and was peer pressured into it.

There is a very dangerous and harmful stereotype that Black people are criminals and Poppy broadcasting Zoey’s past reinforces that racist stereotype. Poppy used a crime committed by a Black woman that carries racist undertones to specifically bring her down which is what actually happens to Black people in real life.

Anti-Blackness is rooted so deeply into our society and if you can’t understand why what Poppy did was racist then I suggest you get out of my inbox and fucking educate yourself.
