dislocations are so much fun. the wild unrelenting pain that comes in waves. the way it forces the body into shock, the cold cold cold of trying to respond to the environment at the same time as trying to remember how to breathe. characters being physically unable to find a position that doesn't hurt. not being able to sleep, even in the narrow time afforded to them for sleeping, because they can't find a position that doesn't hurt. exhausted and cold and maybe they try to put it back in but they do it wrong, or they can't get it back in without someone else to help them.
or maybe it's an accidental dislocation, and they're out in the field doing whatever work they do, but it happens and they're suddenly in a much worse position than they were two seconds ago - they have no way of getting back, they can no longer walk/climb/whatever - and they need to figure out a new plan with a dislocation demanding their full attention at all times.
dislocations are a lot of fun
