The camera angles are not better but the resolution certainly is. My Jeon-Park house elf status is hopefully now assured. I can chill, secure in the knowledge that the Jeon Jungkook 2016 chin-jerk shoulder drop is captured for eternity in full screen 1080p, safe in the arms of my hard drive (and yours should you choose to save it AND I SUGGEST YOU DO) ALSO CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT HOW PRETTY THE JEON-PARKS ARE BECAUSE OMGGGG SOOOO PRETTY Coming of Age Jikook is possibly my personal favorite of all the Pre-Jeon-Park-Household-Status Jikooks. They are a highly superior jikook. That is all.

I imagine this is something you'll go over with your wonderful COAC (which I've been pronouncing in my head like Quokka the smiley wallabies...) analysis, but it's so stark to me the way Jimin's level of full-out-ness changes in the studio versus on-stage rehearsal versus rehearsal in front of the boys. There's a STORY let me tell you. All I ever see are comments about how he's so good in the video, but I'm like dude he's suuuper shy right now, he's barely extending his arms! he's marking!

Jimin totally marks in pre-stage rehearsals. But it was SO LOUD at Festa 2016. Could have been a couple reasons.

First he marks anyway. We know that in actual work rehearsal he often goes full out. But depending on his pain level or the energy required of the choreo he will often mark in pre-stage blocking rehearsal because he’s saving energy for performance and because he already knows what he’s gonna do in the space.

Probably all he needs to do is walk it once for proportion and perspective. Dude is a mathematician after all. Once he has the visual geometry he could go take a nap and get up and go full out. And does.

OR in this case, it’s not a crazy high energy piece. This choreo was a cakewalk. For both of them actually but Jimin HAD IT day one. I have visions of five year old Jimin doing that choreo in front of Music Bank on TV and his parents realizing in that moment that they had a super gay dancer kid on their hands. Like he came in knowing that part.

But he was … flustered. I’m making up the backstory in my head but I feel like Jungkook floated this whole idea and asked Jimin to help and Jimin gay panicked and also gaysploded and basically his gay just gayed all day and no closet was gonna hold him and he was high key embarrassed about that but also sort of… not.

Maybe because Kook came to him first? I dunno but it seems reasonable. The Jimin was… giddy. And horny. And acutely aware of all those things. And then Koo shows up to rehearse LOOKING LIKE THAT this poor kid.

I have rarely felt so keenly for a young man as I do for Jimin in that rehearsal footage. I think that’s what makes people so uncomfortable with it. He can’t take a full breath much less dance full out.

And yet they filmed Own It that very night and neither of them had any problem doing the moves then, to that music and those lyrics and low lights and giggles and how that got uploaded remains a mystery for the ages. Considering how abruptly the camera got shut off. And the obvious buzz. And the wardrobe issues.

So what we have learned from all this is it’s time for me to get my shit together and finish up that whole timeline post of early jikookery because they were jikooking like whoa that whole Festa, is what.
