Welcome Hummingbirds to Your Garden
We promise: It’s so worth it! These little gems will make you smile as the zoom by and perform amazing aerial acrobatics! They beat their wings 50 times per minute and need to eat every 10 to 15 minutes, so providing them with a feeder helps supplement their diets.
Choose a feeder that’s easy to clean (you’ll need to take it apart and wash it well every few days because dangerous mold and bacteria can grow). Make your own nectar with 1/4 cup plain white sugar and one cup boiling water. There’s no need to add red dye, which can harm the birds. Don’t use honey or any other kinds of sugar, which contain too much iron. Cool the nectar, then fill your feeder, and wait for the show to begin.

How to Get Podcast Sponsors
New Post has been published on https://walrusvideo.com/how-to-get-podcast-sponsors/
How to Get Podcast Sponsors
Let’s be honest: It’s tough-going
running a podcast
. From content generation to editing, there’s a considerable amount of effort involved.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could get paid for all this hard work? Well, you can if you secure podcast sponsors.
With the help of a podcast sponsor, you can monetize your show, grow your platform and, best of all, build long-term relationships with various brands. Below, I’ll show you how to find potential sponsors and go over some best practices for using sponsored ads in your podcasts.
How Do Podcast Sponsorships Work?
Before you look for your first sponsor, you need to understand how podcast advertising works.
Ad Format
A podcast sponsor, or advertiser, pays you to promote their goods or services over one or more podcast episodes. You’re free to get a little creative, but usually, hosts use one of two ways to run ads: radio-style or host-read.
Radio-Style Ads
With this format, a third-party marketing company creates the ads, and you place them somewhere in your episode. Is it effective? Well, according to Edison Research,
70 percent of listeners
consider a product after hearing about it through a favorite podcast, so yes!
Some podcast sponsors only work with hosts who run radio-style ads, which is worth bearing in mind.
Host-Read Ads
Instead of inserting an ad, you talk about the product or service and why it works for you. It’s up to you to add the narrative; just make sure it sounds natural and flows well.
This is the most popular option, making up
over 63 percent of podcast ads
.
Whichever option you choose, consider the three places to run an ad:
pre-roll: right before the show starts
mid-roll: somewhere during the episode
post-roll: after the show
Sponsorship Model
Next, you should choose your sponsorship model: CPM, affiliate, or value-based.
CPM
With CPM, or “Cost Per Mille,” you’re paid for every 1,000 downloads. Here’s an example:
Your sponsor pays $20 per 1,000 downloads (you can charge, on average,
between $10 and $50
, according to HubSpot).
People download your show 100,000 times.
You earn $2,000 for that episode.
The problem? This model works best for big shows. Many sponsors won’t work with small to mid-sized podcasts through the CPM model.
Affiliate Model
Some brands let you sign up as an
affiliate
. You’re paid whenever a listener buys the products you’re promoting.
On the plus side, there’s flexibility over how often you promote the product, and there’s no limit to how much you can earn.
The downside? There’s no guaranteed income, and you could earn nothing.
Affiliate marketing
doesn’t work for everyone.
Value-Based Sponsorship
Are you a small to mid-sized podcast? Value-based sponsorship might be a good option for you.
Unlike with CPM, you’re not paid per the number of downloads. Instead, you negotiate a set rate with the sponsor (for example, $50 per episode). It doesn’t matter how many downloads you get: You won’t earn more (or less) than $50.
Clearly, it’s not a great model for large shows with high download rates, but it could be great for smaller or niche podcasts.
Benefits of Podcast Sponsors
Why should you even pursue sponsors, though? Podcast sponsors offer multiple benefits, but here are the most important ones:
Monetize Your Show
Podcast sponsors help you turn a hobby into an income-generating business.
Think of it this way:
Over two-thirds of listeners
act based on the ads they hear on podcasts. A pretty impressive number, don’t you think?
Remember, when listeners take action, you earn money.
Build Brand Identity
With
over 850,000 podcasts out there
, you must find a way to stand out from the crowd if you plan on building a dedicated audience. How do you achieve this? Build a strong brand identity.
Here’s another way to see it: Roughly
three-quarters of Americans
listen to podcasts to learn new things. Provide them with meaningful content (and well-targeted, useful product ads), and they’re more likely to come back again.
Build a Network
The host-podcast sponsor relationship works both ways. As you promote their goods and services, you earn their trust, leading to further business or
networking opportunities
down the line.
Grow Your Platform
If listeners enjoy your ads, they’ll come back for more and share your podcast with friends. Over time, a few strategic podcast sponsors can help you draw traffic and grow your audience base.
While I’m not suggesting you use sponsorships as the sole way to
monetize your podcast
, they’re certainly a great place to start.
4 Strategies to Get Podcast Sponsors
Here are the four main ways to find podcast sponsors:
1. Reach Out to Sponsors Directly
The simplest strategy? Contact potential sponsors directly.
Research podcasts in your niche.
Check them out (or have a listen!) and identify which products or services they advertise.
Look up the company’s details and find a point of contact.
Pitch them directly.
Don’t worry about the pitch just yet. We’ll take a look at what to include further down.
2. Partner With a Hosting Service
Podcast hosting services give your podcast a home on the internet. These services let you create, manage, and monetize your podcast.
Here are some examples:
Anchor:
Anchor Sponsorships
gives you control over ad placement and the types of ads you run. This platform is free and could be a great option for new podcasters.
Buzzsprout: The
Buzzsprout Affiliate Marketplace
helps you find and connect with potential sponsors. It’s a good option if you’re keen on trying affiliate marketing.
Transistor: For a monthly fee, you can create and manage multiple podcasts, which could boost your chance of finding (and securing) sponsors.
3. Join a Podcast Network
Some networks let you list your show (sometimes for free) on their platform. Potential sponsors browse these platforms and reach out to the shows they’re interested in working with.
This is a great way to build some exposure, but if you’re a niche podcast or still building an audience, it may be less effective than other methods. Some networks are hard to join, and they often expect a cut in commission for pairing you with a brand.
All that said, there’s no harm in giving these networks a go. Examples include Wondery and PodcastOne.
4. Use a Directory
From Spotify to Apple Podcasts, don’t forget to join podcast directories. There’s always the chance you’ll connect with a sponsor this way.
If you use hosting services like Buzzsprout, they can help you list on the top directories, but you can also reach out to whichever ones you want.
Do some research to find the right directory for your podcast, but here are a few to get you started:
Apple Podcasts
Spotify
iHeartRadio
TuneIn
Google Podcasts
What It Takes to Get Podcast Sponsors
Ready to reach out for podcast sponsors? Here are some steps to work through before you send your first pitch or reach out to prospects:
Know Your Niche
OK, so if you’ve already got a podcast, you already know your niche, right? Maybe.
I say that because, unless you
understand your competition
, then the answer’s no. Consider the following when researching your competitors:
Listen to podcasts in your sector or industry.
Make notes on the popular shows. What are the hosts like? Why do people love the content? Most importantly, how can you use what you learn to improve your show?
If the shows use host-read ads, study how they make those ads sound natural. Think about what works and what doesn’t.
Consider where they place their ads. Is it pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll? Look for patterns in your niche and follow them, if possible.
This is all key data you can use to improve your show and find potential sponsors to pitch at the same time.
Build Your Audience Base
The reality is, roughly
50 percent of podcasts get less than 26 downloads
within the first 7 days of release. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but what it suggests is that the average podcast doesn’t have a huge audience base.
Again, not a bad thing. However, the size of your audience determines which sponsors you’ll attract and how to go about securing them. In other words, huge companies are unlikely to sponsor a show with a very small or niche audience.
If you’re still growing your audience, consider choosing platforms like Anchor to simplify the process of finding sponsors.
However, if you’re confident in your numbers, you might prefer to reach out to individual brands directly.
Present Your Podcast Professionally
First impressions count. Ensure your podcast is professional enough to attract a sponsor by running through a few quality checks:
Make sure your recordings are clear and free from interference.
Always use the best quality recording equipment you can afford.
Fact-check anything you say, unless it’s purely opinion-based.
Consider putting together a
media kit
to include with your pitch letter or send out to potential sponsors.
Learn How to Pitch
Sure, businesses want exposure, which means they’re opening to working with podcasters. That said, you still need to pitch your podcast!
The whole idea of a
pitch email
is to start a conversation. Keep it short, succinct, and professional.
Begin by setting out who you are and why you’re contacting the company about a potential partnership between you both.
Pitch your show in one or two sentences.
If you have great audience numbers, highlight this. Otherwise, add a line or two about why you’re reaching out to this particular company. Why do you think the partnership is a good idea? How will the company benefit from working with you?
End with an invitation for the company to contact you to discuss it further.
Don’t just send one email out to a single sponsor. Target at least 5-10 sponsors at a time. You won’t hear back from them all, and it often takes time to find the right sponsor.
Master the Art of the Follow-up Email
Still waiting on a reply to those pitch emails? Here’s some tips.
Wait at least two weeks before following up.
Politely ask if they’ve had a chance to consider your first email, and remind them you’re still keen on working with them.
Don’t send more than one follow-up email.
If you still don’t hear back, move along to the next sponsor. It takes persistence, optimism, and dedication to secure podcast sponsors, so don’t give up after a few non-responses.
Choose the Right Sponsors
Ultimately, your podcast is about your audience. Without an audience, you can’t grow your podcast, and you’ll find it hard to secure sponsors.
The problem? The “wrong” sponsors are worse than no sponsors at all. Not only that, but some listeners despise any ads during podcasts, so there’s always a chance you could lose people.
However, consider the following when weighing your options:
Choose sponsors that align with your brand’s identity and what you stand for.
Ensure the products or services you’re sponsoring offer something of value to your particular audience base. How do you work this out? By running
demographic or psychometric profiling
.
Don’t forget to track your performance, too, so you know whether you’re losing, maintaining, or gaining listeners. It can be challenging to pull listeners back if you lose them.
Conclusion
Podcast sponsors can help you monetize your show and turn your podcast business into a scalable, profitable venture in the long run.
Although sponsorships are great, try to limit your ads to no more than two per show. Too many may frustrate your audience and encourage them to turn off.
Finally, remember there’s always a chance you’ll lose some listeners after rolling out sponsored ads. Don’t let this deter you, though. Think of it as a calculated risk: With the help of podcast sponsorships, you could develop your channel, improve your
brand
, and ultimately
reach more listeners
over the long term.
Where do you find podcast sponsors? Did you find it easy to pitch them?

12 Ways to Make Money Online
There are a lot of reasons to consider making money online. It can be a continuous form of passive income. It can also be a cool side hustle to bring in some extra dollars on top of your 9-5. Maybe you have a specific goal in mind like saving for a vacation or trying to get out of debt. Regardless of your intentions, using the internet as a means to make money is worth the effort.
Using online platforms as a way to make money might seem a bit daunting, but it’s not always as complicated as it seems. You have so many different options to creatively make money online. It’s likely that at least one or more of these options will be appealing.
Here’s a list of how you can capitalize off the internet to either make a living or earn some extra dollars:
1. Start a niche blog and leverage affiliate marketing
Starting a blog is one of the easiest points of entry for making money online. There’s a reason that it’s worth mentioning the word niche. Your blog needs to be laser-focused on a specific topic. It’s not enough to be a food blogger anymore. You need to be blogging about cafes in rural areas of Canada. While that example may not be attractive, the point is that your content needs to be narrow enough that your audience knows exactly what they’re getting every single time. And once that audience is identified, it makes affiliate marketing that much more effective.
Affiliate marketing is when you earn a commission for generating traffic or sales to a retailer you’ve partnered with. It’s usually accomplished through posting links on your blog page that directs your audience to some product outside of your site. Your blog must be niche so you can identify partners that fit your content. Using the rural cafes example, you likely wouldn’t post affiliate links of vacations to South America. You’d want to keep the affiliation to something closer to rural cafes.
Some of the better affiliate programs in Canada include:
Ownr Affiliate Program
Rakuten
LinkConnector
ClickBank
Share Results
MaxBounty
ShareASale
2. Start an e-commerce website and sell products online
Do you think you have or can produce a product that people want? If so, then starting an e-commerce site might be your best option. You’ll have the chance to sell products directly to consumers with no middle person. Of course, this means you’ll have to take on a heavy share of the responsibilities. That includes the following:
A website to host your products
A merchant account to accept payments (Something like Stripe or Paypal)
Logistics strategy, meaning a way to accept orders and deliver products to consumers
Somewhere to house all your products
A marketing strategy so people are aware of what you’re selling
If you don’t have your own products, you can also consider selling products that aren’t your own through Dropshipping. Dropshipping doesn’t involve you owning or keeping any products. How it works is that you offer products for sale on your website. You fulfill those orders by purchasing the product from a third party then shipping it directly to the customer. You’ll have to decide whether you want to sell commodities (essential products in high demand), niche products or a combination of both. You’ll then need to decide which platform to sell on, regardless of if you’re selling your own products or curating products to sell online.
Some popular platform options include:
Shopify
Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA)
The major benefit of dropshipping is that you don’t need to purchase products upfront. You don’t need to purchase any product until you get paid by the customer. This is lower risk than selling your own products, but also takes more work in curating the right mix of products that will be enticing enough for consumers.
3. Find Freelance Jobs
Freelancing is a great option if you enjoy working on multiple projects. You can pretty much freelance any skill — writing, photography, graphic design, handyperson, developer — and never need to commit to any single project for too long of a period. Freelancing is a proven way to make some extra cash. If your goal is to make a living as a freelancer, however, you’ll need to secure several gigs at the same time. One contract rarely pays enough to cover the cost of living. This means you’ll need to develop some kind of system for finding leads, learn how to craft cold pitches, and understanding where there are opportunities for work outside of regular channels.
There are some solid platforms to find jobs for freelancers:
Upwork
99 Designs
Fiver
Task rabbit
Skyword
Freelancer.com
Each specific industry will have its own set of freelance platforms, but these sites are a great place to start.
Being a freelancer means you are your own boss. There’s no one handing you work and telling you to get it done. You’ll have to take the initiative. Part of that initiative involves marketing yourself through various channels. Depending strictly on freelance platforms to find you high paying jobs won’t cut it. People need to know what you do.
Social media is one of the first places you should start. You’d be surprised what kind of response you’ll get if you just let your friends know what kind of services you’re offering. Posting about what you do is one tactic. What’s more effective is compiling a list of your friends that you think may be interested in your services or know someone who might be interested. Send these friends a personal message. They’ll become your first advocates.
Another means of promotion that freelancers ignore is partnering with agencies. Signing on to a recruitment agency reduces the amount of effort it takes to find leads. Agencies are typically connected to several large companies that are looking to engage freelancers. The contracts with agencies tend to be larger because they also need a cut.
Some of the more well-known agencies include:
Tundra Technical
Creative Circle
Randstad
Flex on Demand
Freelancing is fun and does give you a degree of control over your own time. But you’ll still be working with deadlines that need to be met so don’t think all your days will be wide open. Time management will be key, along with staying resilient enough to keep pushing through the months where cheques aren’t piling up.
4. Start a YouTube channel
Of all the ways to make money online, this is probably the boldest. You can’t be camera-shy, you’ll need to have some technical know-how, and you absolutely must be consistent. That said, some YouTubers make serious income. And you don’t need to be the most charismatic personality to get there.
Before you go out and buy a fancy camera and lighting, take a step back. The most important step in starting a YouTube channel is figuring out why. Not why you want to try YouTube, but why should anyone watch what you’re producing. This is one of the top reasons for the success of any YouTuber, along with what your videos will be about and who will they be made for.
The reason it becomes important to determine why anyone would watch you is simple: YouTube is a highly saturated platform. Even if you think your videos are niche, there are likely thousands of videos already available on that topic. For that reason, you must start with a differentiator. What makes you different?
Some content on YouTube tends to perform better than others. Educational videos, unboxing videos, gaming, comedy, and vlogs are all popular. Product reviews and how-to videos are the two most popular.
This is no way means you should stick to any of these. However, this gives you a good gauge of what people are viewing. If your idea can somehow fit under one of these umbrellas, you’ll be in for some tough competition but you’ll also be in a content stream with plenty of potential eyeballs.
This is the question many people want to know the answer to. Unfortunately, it’s not exactly straight forward. Youtube pays YouTubers based on ad views and ad clicks, so the simple answer is to get as many views as possible. Most YouTubers earn between $1.50-$3.00 per 1,000 views. That can work out to $300-$2000 (roughly) for every million views.
Your first step is to create a YouTube account (if you have Gmail, you already have a YouTube account). Once you create an account, you need to turn on Ad Sense. That’s how you’ll get paid.
Google, who owns YouTube, actually outlines five ways you can get paid.
1. Advertising revenue — We’ve already discussed this. You get paid from display or video ads.
2. Channel memberships — You can get your subscribers to make monthly payments in exchange for some kind of premium membership.
3. Merchandise shelf — You can sell merchandise that’s displayed on what’s called watch pages.
4. Super chats — This gives fans the option of paying to have their messages featured in a chat stream.
5. YouTube premium revenue — Google describes this as getting a piece of a “YouTube Premium subscribers fee” whenever any of your subscribers view your videos.
5. Teach English online
Teaching English online is a relatively new hustle. Before all of these online platforms started popping up, teachers who wanted to teach English would fly to the country they’d want to teach in. While that’s still an option, teaching online has become a popular alternative.
What makes teaching online appealing is the relatively low point of entry. All that’s required is for you to be a fluent English speaker and in some cases, have a college or university degree. Once that’s established, it’s all about finding the right platform, and there are plenty. Here are a few of the platforms that have had success pairing teachers with online teaching jobs.
Teach Away
Vipkid
Cambly
DaDa
iTalki
The amount you can make varies. It depends on the platform and, in some cases, on your experience. Some platforms pay up to $25/hour while some will pay 0.17 cents/minute which adds up to roughly $10/hour. If you join a platform like Cambly, the requirements are a lot less rigid and the students are looking to improve their English rather than learn. Other options like DaDa or iTalki require you to teach lesson plans to younger students who may not speak much English at all. You’ll have to decide on which experience matches your goals.
6. Do jobs on Amazon Mechanical Turk
Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is essentially a crowdsourcing site. It allows businesses to hire remote workers temporarily to complete tasks virtually. These tasks usually involve research, conducting surveys or validating data.
The overwhelming majority (if not all) of the tasks on MTurk pay cents on the dollar. You may make a $1 for completing a psychological survey, but that’s considered extremely high on the pay scale. Many of MTurks gigs are in the 0.01 cents to 0.35 cents range. On top of that, Amazon takes anywhere from 20-45% off of each transaction.
A recent academic study concluded that Turkers (workers on MTurk) make an average of $2/hour. It’s not too surprising that Turkers are willing to take this pay considering one-third of them are otherwise unemployed most report a household income under $47k USD.
If you’re looking to earn a living, this may not be the best platform. If you’re between jobs and looking to make a few extra dollars, then give MTurk a try.
7. Sell your craft on Etsy or Ebay
Creatives often have a hard time finding ways to earn a living. In many instances, it’s not a matter of the quality of work they produce, but how to get that work in front of people willing to spend their dollars. That’s the beauty of Etsy.
Etsy has made its name as one of the premier destinations for crafts, unique vintage products and handmade items. They operate more like a community for creators and small business owners interested in rare pieces that can’t be purchased in traditional stores or on larger consumer shopping sites.
If you have a talent for creating your own work — be it visual art, postcards, photography, accessories — then Etsy is the right platform.
Setting up shop on Etsy is fairly straight forward.
1. Create an account — which includes adding a photo and bio.
2. Click the Sell on Etsy link then Open Your Etsy Shop.
3. After filling out some general demographic info (country, language, currency), you’ll get to name your shop.
8. Sell stock photos online
Photographers, don’t feel at all discouraged that anyone with a smartphone can theoretically be a photographer. You should be excited. Businesses and influencers are looking for content more than ever, and most pieces of content need photos to go along with it. If you’re just starting, you need to focus on two things:
1. Finding your niche — As a photographer, you need to establish a consistent style. There has to be something your audience can expect from your photos. Are you focusing on fashion photography, travel, portraits, nature; whatever you choose, stick to it. At least for as long as it takes for your audience to get accustomed to the fact that they can depend on your output.
2. Building your audience — Exposure is key early on, so platforms like Instagram will be your best friend. Be consistent in how much you post and do some hashtag research to make sure you’re reaching the right audience. If you change your Instagram account over to a business account, you’ll be able to have people purchase pictures directly from your stream.
Monetizing comes after these two parts of your brand have been established. Selling photos can be tricky, but getting on the right platform is key.
Here are a few that you should consider:
Adobe Stock
Shutterstock

Twenty20
Fotolia
iStock
500px
There are many more, but these give you a good start and are well known to consumers.
9. Become a Virtual Assistant
This is becoming a popular means of earning an income online. A Virtual Assistant (VA) is just what it sounds like: someone who can lend their skills to support a project virtually. Most of the time, VAs are tasked with admin or secretarial tasks, but that’s not the full scope of being a VA.
Some of the services provided by Virtual Assistants include:
Blog Manager
Digital Marketer
Bookkeeper
Newsletter Writer
Online Translator
Plus many more.
The key to becoming an effective VA is to learn or sharpen a skill. Start with free learning. Spaces like LinkedIn and Hubspot offer free courses where you can actually become certified. You can then move on to platforms like Udemy, which does cost but isn’t as expensive as it would be to take a full semester college course.
Before thinking about where you can find clients, you need to think about attracting them. That means that you are your best promotion. Find ways to demonstrate your skillset so people are aware of what you can do. If you want to manage blogs, then prove your case by managing your own blog.
With that said, here are some places Virtual Assistants can find clients:
LinkedIn
Indeed
Upwork
PeoplePerHour
Networking Events
It might also be worth it to start your own website. Your site will act as a hub for all of the work you’ve done, plus showcase your skills.
10. Transcribe audio and interviews
One of the most time-consuming parts of conducting an interview is transcribing the recording. It can take hours to get it done right and using transcription software isn’t always accurate. Not to mention that there are several other needs for transcription outside of interviews. For those reasons, human transcription is a service businesses will pay for.
In addition to general transcription of voice to text, there are other opportunities to utilize transcription services.
Legal transcription
Medical transcription
Financial
Data entry
TV and Film
There are several places to find transcription jobs. Be sure to use a trusted site. There are known scams where you won’t end up getting paid for your work.
AccuTran Global
Transcribe Me
My Other Office
Transcribe Me
Daily Transcription
This completely depends on the client. Rates vary from .60 cents/minute – $1.20/minute for audio transcription. You may also get paid by the “audio hour.” This can range from $10-$20/audio hour. However, according to the Bureau of Statistics and Labor, the average salary for a medical transcriptionist is $34,770.
11. Put your apartment on Airbnb
This is kind of an online/offline hybrid but is still worth mentioning. Airbnb has made it possible for anyone to make some money leveraging their home. It’s a simple system: you put your home up for short term rent on the Airbnb platform and travelers check-in. You control how much you charge and AirBnB handles the transactions.
There are lots of reasons that Airbnb is a great way to make money online, even though it does involve a lot of offline demands.
Flexibility — you can hop on and off AirBnB whenever you choose. If you’re going away on vacation, you can make your home available and earn some revenue while you’re away.
Airbnb does the work — they provide a system to handle all communication and transactions, as well as rating potential tenants of your home.
Control — if you rent out your home on a full-time basis, you don’t have the same amount of control as you would with AirBnB. Imagine you have a difficult tenant. You’re likely locked into that contract for a full year. That’s not the case with Airbnb.
Revenue — You control how much money you want to make. You get to price your property and schedule how often you make it available.
It’s a lot of work — you’ll be constantly checking your app for guest inquiries, taking questions before and during check-in, and dealing with any complaints.
Nothing is certain — yes, Airbnb is the top service for renting out your home, but it doesn’t guarantee you’ll be booked up every time you make your home available.
Bad reviews — AirBnB host system is based on reviews. If someone staying in your home has a negative experience, that could turn people away from staying at your property.
According to Priceonomics, Airbnb hosts make an average of $924/month. That’s a pretty good side hustle. Some hosts can make up to $10,000, but that depends on many factors, including the size and location of their home and how often they’re willing to host guests.
12. Complete online surveys
This is a low-stress way to make money online. It doesn’t take a lot of effort and you don’t need any predetermined skills. Time is all that’s required, and even that is usually minimal. That also means that you shouldn’t expect to make this your main side hustle. Some surveys don’t even pay in cash but will give you points that you can redeem at specific outlets.
Here are a few places to find surveys with solid payouts:
Swagbucks
Opinion Outpost
Pinecoast Research
Maru Voice Canada

How to make money with a blog for Beginners in 2020

Ever thought about launching your own blog? Ever wondered what it is, not only to start that blog but to successfully build it over time to make money online or generate a passive income? Frankly, you are not alone. Millions of people try their hand at blogging, but never really earn enough from their efforts. However, if you are starting a blog for the purposes of making money, and you are not really passionate about writing at first, then you are wasting your time to a great extent. The art of blogging is not just scientific or formulaic. Without a deep-seated passion for your craft, you will face disappointment and upset. Why? While it is relatively simple to start a blog, it is a monumental undertaking to generate any share of traffic and profit from your hard efforts. You need laser-focus and persistence to build an audience or reach mass saturation with your prose. It takes time and a long and drawn evening to burn the cosmic midnight oil. take it from me. As a blogger who has created a substantial platform with thousands of monthly visitors, I can bask in the hot flashes of success. However, I cannot enjoy the freedom and passive income that my blog has created for so long. Without continuously adding unsaturated content, any blog can be closed. So, what does it take to start a successful blog and actually make money online? I think it depends on what you believe to be successful and whether you consider making money. If millions of other potential bloggers get out there, you want to rake it, you'll have a long road ahead. But if you are willing to put in the time and effort, and you can be consistent for years (and yes, I have said years), you can certainly generate substantial income online. In fact, your blog is probably the best center for passive income generation, and if done properly, it can attract the right customers and customers, whether you're in any industry or niche. How to start a blog: step by step Okay, if I haven't forbidden you yet, and you're serious about launching the next Mashable or TechCrunch or whatever another blog you think might be wildly successful in your vision, here's a step to you Need to do in -Step fashion. The more you prepare and plan, the longer you are likely to succeed. 1. Pick a topic Be clear on what you will write about. Define a topic or niche, and design all your content around those things. This will help you not only to focus on your writing but also to create digital products and services that compliment your content. This allows you to entice customers with your highly informative posts, then entice them with a lead magnet before dropping them into your sales funnel (more on that shortly). 2. Choose a platform While Wordpress is by far the most popular platform for blogging, there are some out there that can be leveraged to micro-blogging platforms such as Tumblr, Blogger.com, and even Medium. However, if you are serious about your blogging efforts, you might want to go with a self-hosted WordPress installation on a custom domain. When you can set up a blog on Wordpress.com with a subdomain like myblog.wordpress.com, you'll get more traction with a self-hosted solution, and then use subdomains on popular platforms for your content-marketing efforts. -The domain will be able to use it. 3. Choose a domain name Custom domain names are important if you are serious about making money from a blog, to begin with. Instead of relying on third-party-hosted subdomains, find a small but relevant keyword-rich (if possible) domain name that is descriptive of your intended topic, industry, or niche. Use BlueHost, HostGator, 1 & 1 Hosting or any other domain name provider to source your domain. If you are concerned about things like SEO while choosing your domain name, then you should follow the following suggestions: Use a known top-level domain (TLD) such as .com or .net Keep domain short, not more than 15 characters or more Do not try to buy a domain name with a hyphen, as they are more often associated with spammers Avoid using self-hosted subdomains to rank or rank posts 4. Find a good web hosting company There are loads of good hosting companies out there. If you are starting a Wordpress, self-hosted blog, there are a near-endless amount of options. The important thing is to do your due diligence and choose the one suitable for your budget and ensure that the service-level and punctuality are guaranteed. In the beginning, you might want to start with a managed Wordpress solution or a virtual private server (VPS), and scale from there. Eventually, you will need a dedicated-hosting solution with CDN (below) after a few thousand visitors arrive daily. 5. Caching and Content-Delivery Network (CDN) Use a system such as W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache and turn on browser caching to ensure that you speed up the delivery of your webpages. In the beginning, it may not seem as important. But as you grow and your traffic increases to thousands of visitors per day, this will be important. Use Google's Page Speed Insights to test things before and after installation. It is also important that you set up a CDN, which will speed up the global distribution of your content. For example, your page may load relatively quickly in the United States, but what happens when someone in Australia tries to load your content? CDNs replicate data in many repositories around the world and make content delivery ultra-fast. This is important to the user experience because most people who are focused on waiting a few seconds to load a page often leave the website and move on to the next one in the search results. The W3 Total Cache integrates with Amazon's AWS and MaxCDN, two very good options when it comes to CDN. 6. Enable Permalinks In Wordpress, you should enable permalinks before getting things off the ground, which will give you good canonical URLs that are SEO friendly. Permalinks are located within the Settings> Permalinks section of your Wordpress admin and select the Post Name option. 7. Install the AMP plugin The Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) project is an initiative by Google to accelerate mobile access to a greater level of its content. The AMP specification, which you can read more about here, helps thin a webpage for its basic structural components with scaled-back JS and minimized CSS code, making for lightning-fast speeds. 8. Install Google Analytics Install Google Analytics so that you can monitor your efforts while building your blog. Leaving links in social media and other places is a great way to track your results when using the URL Campaign Builder so that you can effectively determine where your traffic is coming from. 9. Setup Google's Webmaster Tools Anyone who is serious about building a blog and making money needs to take advantage of Google's webmaster tools to see which keywords they are ranking and any messages that will improve their ability to rank Will affect It will also allow you to submit XML sitemaps and track keyword impressions with click-through rates. It is one of the most useful tools to enhance your site or blog through continuous analysis of your efforts. 10. Learn SEO the right way Although you should not start with the intention of obliterating the blog, you should definitely understand the basic principles of search engine optimization so that you pay attention to the key aspects that will affect your ability to rank on search engines like Google . . Start with Google's Webmaster Guidelines, and digest and implement that information. Learning SEO is a long and drawn journey. You should always increase your knowledge and expand your skillset. 11. Regulatory Build Useful Content If you are serious about being successful with your blog, then you need to create useful anchor content. It should be engaging, keyword-focused, practical, unique, and well written. Do not write your content for search engines. Rather, write your content for humans as well as paying homage to search engines for what they want. Simply put, it is a skill that develops over time. It is also important to publish your content on a regular weekly basis. 12. Sign up on an email marketing platform The best avenue to earn money from your blog is email marketing, plain and simple. Hands down, it provides one of the fastest and surest strategies to earn income through your blog. But before you get there, you have to sign up on email marketing platforms such as Auber, ConvertKit, MailChimp, Constant Contact, InfusionSoft, or any other platforms that are out there. 13. Create Lead Magnets If you're serious about doing anything online, rather than running ads on your blog (which won't give you real money, unless you have at least hundreds of thousands of visitors per day) or by engaging in affiliate marketing, You should manufacture an occasional lead magnet that will sell a digital product or be made by you in the back-end. The lead magnet will entice people to sign up to your list and provide you with their email address. 14. Creating a Digital Product and Positioning Your Proposals Email marketing and lead magnets are all designed to help create an automated sales machine. However, to do this you need a digital product, service, or other types of offer in the back-end. You can create many offers or products that can take people up a value chain for your high-ticket sales. 15. Create a Sales Funnel Take time to build your automated sales funnel. There is a lot involved with the sales funnel, but the basic premise is that your visitors will discover your content and show it to your site, fall into your sales funnel through offers through your lead magnet or any other tripwire, and then they will Be led through a journey with some periodically drip-fed messages that will allow you to sell your products and services on autopilot. 16. Get Social Creating a blog is not easy by any means. To help you move towards success, you have to be social. Not only by engaging with other like-minded bloggers interested in online marketing but by sharing and engaging with others on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms. 17. Market Your Content One of the most important strategies you'll find to build a blog and increase your visibility on search engines like Google, and my all-time strategy to increase search rankings on Google's SERPs, is content marketing. Marketing your content is a complex process that involves creating long, never-ending hours in the creation of more useful off-site content that connects to your primary anchor content, but it is worth it. If you do things correctly, you can use this single strategy to rank number one on Google's searches for any keyword. It definitely has art as well as a technical framework and the art of doing it properly. Do not try to spam or overstuff keywords in an attempt to market your content in any way. Content marketing can be done on sites like Medium.com or Scripped.com, it can be done by answering Reddit or Quora questions, and it can be done on YouTube or Vimeo in various other ways, along with videos is. The point is that all content needs to be useful, period. Try not to do the least amount of work for the greatest return. If you want to succeed then you have to do the opposite. 18. Monetize your content Let's face it, starting and running a blog can be expensive. Do not expect to get rich overnight. However, you can take some measures to get some of your content out of the way. Make sure you stay topical with your content and help your lead magnates leave people in a sales funnel that will eventually sell your high-ticket items. However, aside from this, you can always opt to generate cash flow by doing other things such as creating articles that will lead people to courses or audiobooks you have developed or creating video tutorials that will eventually lead to something bigger. Will sell Package or system that will help teach people that whatever it is is really good. There are many ways to monetize your content and earn money from your blog, but don't try to take shortcuts along the way. If you are serious about your long term results, do not look for a fast buck. If you want to succeed and achieve your goals then take action and be persistent. Read the full article

Road Tripping with a Tesla Model 3 - Thoughts and Ruminations

Road Tripping with a Tesla Model 3 - Thoughts and Ruminations

This past weekend I finally got to let TARS, my Tesla Model 3 Performance, stretch its legs a big and go for some long distance driving. Over 3 days, we covered almost 700 miles, from Boston, MA to Rochester, NY.
This drive is almost entirely interstate, with the absolutely mind numbing stretch of the NY Thruway between Syracuse and Rochester coming to mind as the most tedious part of the trip. I was looking forward to using Autopilot for that bit in particular, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Preparation

Fully charged, oh, and have a software update.
My Model 3 is normally set to charge to 90%, which gets me about 270 miles of range. According to Tesla, this helps preserve the lifetime of the battery. But for short term trips, it’s okay to go into ‘trip mode’ – charge the battery to 100%. That brought my range up to about 307 miles. Golden!
The next step was to plan the trip a bit. With my battery topped up, the trip analyzer said that I could make it to the Utica, NY supercharger in one go. That’s about 270 miles, and I in theory would have 35 miles left when I get there. Now, I treat these estimators with a heavy dose of skepticism. There’s a lot of factors that impact battery consumption – a static analysis would have resulted in a lot of ‘Yeah, but what about…’ questions. However, this estimation was being done by the car, while I was driving it, with active traffic reports being reported in in realtime. It should be pretty accurate, we’ll see!
Departure
We rolled out around 2pm on Friday and immediately ran into unexpected traffic (later we learned from some friends that it wasn’t just us – all the routes headed west were problematic). TARS kept updating the route onto more and more secondary roads, to the point where I was expecting us to be routed through someone’s garage and down their garden paths. Hopefully I could avoid any empty swimming pools.
Finally, we got past the traffic and on the open road. The car settled into the traffic fine, and I was able to enable autopilot for a large part of the rest of the trip.
Autopilot
There’s an awful lot of jawing going on about the Tesla Autopilot. It’s not full self driving (FSD), no. It’s also not ‘just adaptive cruise control’ (as I’ve heard others yammer). It’s somewhere in between. On an open highway, without much traffic, it’s dreamy. Lane changes, slowing down / speeding up according to traffic changes, dealing with people merging in or passing, it works well. The car software is updated often – anywhere from once a week to every few weeks. And each time a new version comes down, the autopilot gets better, smoother, and less janky.
Here’s a good example. When I received my car in May, it was just after the ‘automatically change lanes’ function was enabled. And it was sketchy AF. Yes, it would signal, change lanes, and continue. But the signal ranges were all goofy, and if there was someone anywhere near your blindspot, the car would sort of ‘stall’ – leaving the blinker on, waiting for the other car to move. If they backed off to let you in (like all nice New England drivers do, right?), the autopilot wouldn’t pick up on the situation change fast enough, so would just sit there with the blinker on. Naturally, the other driver would speed up thinking I wasn’t changing lanes, and then Autopilot would decide there was a threat, and ‘phantom brake’ or jog back into lane. it was unnerving.
With the current version (v32.12.1 – one patch level beyond the v10 release), this process is FAR smoother. I was comfortable letting the car decide when to change lanes to get around slower traffic, or move over to let other cars by.
Interstate changes and ramps were still a little off. When the car does not have clear lines on the road on ramps (which tend to be wider than normal highway lanes), it tends to disconcertingly head toward the outside of the ramp until it’s close to a line, then sort of jog back. It’s jarring and uncomfortable, but it will do it. I let TARS make 2-3 highway changes for me, keeping my hands and brake-foot ready for a sudden takeover.
First Recharging Stop
Eventually we made it to Utica, and pulled into the charging station. At this point, the display was showing we had about 20 miles of battery range left. I had been watching the numbers the entire drive, and even with the traffic, rain, etc, the numbers really didn’t change much. The computer had the advantage of having access to traffic, weather, temperature, and route information, as well as how my batteries were behaving. It didn’t get it wrong.

We jacked into the supercharger and got the message “20 minutes until you can continue your trip” – Huh! 4+ hours of driving, and a recharge in 20 minutes? I’m good with that. Lets grab dinner.
So we walked to the local food joint and had a quick meal while the car recharged.
Getting back in, we were at something like 240 miles of range, plenty of electrons to get us the last 2 hours to Rochester.
We ended up going to our friends house first, then to the hotel, which left us with about 90 miles of range. Plenty for the next day, but we should top it up at some point.
On Saturday, we topped up the car with a very fast stop at the local supercharger (20m on the charger), which got us back up to about 200 miles. This is where I start having some questions.

It looks like not all superchargers are the same. Some have very good high speed charging (500+ miles per hour charging speed), others are lower. It’s not because there’s more cars at the charging station or anything, the level of power coming from each station just seems to vary. This is disconcerting, because when you’re trip planning, some stations may be able to charge your car up to full trip-level charge in 40 minutes, others may take an hour and change. Now, the charging ‘curve’ for a Tesla isn’t flat. To go from 0-75% charge can take as long as it takes to go from 75% to 100%. If you’re doing long distance driving, the time it takes to top up gets important. The station near the hotel was not charging as fast as the one in Utica. That was concerning, because we should be able to fill up before we drove home on Sunday. Timing would be important.
Departure
At the end of weekend, we did the happy party trick of showing off Enhanced Summon in a crowded private parking lot (there were half a dozen cars in our friends driveway, and rock walls all around. I walked a hundred feet away and did a “HOLD MY BEER” by summoning TARS to me. It did it BEAUTIFULLY. The summon feature has improved greatly in two or three weeks it’s been out. Very smooth, and doing exactly what a human would have done to back up, move the car forward and back 2-3 times to line it up with the exit, then roll over to where I stood.
It’s a great trick to impress your friends with. I asked our host “So, getting a Tesla now?” and he, a normally very conservative skeptical person, answered “I hadn’t thought about it before, but now I’m seriously considering it. I’m very impressed.”
Victory!
We headed out to the charging station I had used on Saturday, and had the same rate problem I saw before. So it wasn’t load or anything, it was just that this station sucked. We went for a walk in the local mall, and decided to head out. The mapping system set our next recharge in Lee, MA, about 270 miles away. We should arrive with 20-30 miles of charge left. So off we went.
The drive back was uneventful, with autopilot doing it’s thing for most of the drive. Oddly, my biggest issue was I rest my hand on the steering wheel giving it a little ‘tension’ to let the car know I’m there. After 20 minutes of leaving my hand in one spot, it would get tired and sweaty, and I had to switch hands. Talk about first world problems!

Charging in Lee
We got to Lee and plugged in, and YAY! Plenty of high speed charging! What a relief. We were able to top up the battery enough to get home in under 15 minutes, and we got home to a dog that was extremely happy to see us after such a long time away (Yes, we had people taking care of her, don’t be like that. But she did miss us).
Conclusions
All in all, the road trip was everything I expected it to be. Smooth, fast, comfortable, and best of all, 100% electric. Assuming our chargers were getting elecricity from standard sources, we produced 1/3rd as much carbon as we would have in a normal gas car. I personally buy my electricity from a wind farm, so at least 1/3 of the trip was from renewables, so that reduced our footprint even further.
Someone asked me from a cost perspective, was it cheaper driving an all electric car? I found an article that summed it up like this:
The long-range version of the Model 3 has a 75 kWh battery pack with a 310 mile range. If we still assume the average national electric pricing of 13 cents per kWh and a charging efficiency of 85%, then a full charge will cost $11.47. This is $3.70 per 100 miles of mixed city and freeway driving, or 3.7 cents per mile. This is almost 80% less than the cost per mile to drive the most popular gas-powered cars, which is approximately 20 cents per mile.
This fits my back of the envelope fiddling. I looked at my bill, and the entire charging costs from Sunday’s drive (about 370 miles) was $11.47. So not only was it not putting out any CO2, it was far far less expensive to operate than a traditional car.
I can easily see a future where more and more of these trips are automated, and my input into operating the car will be needed less and less. We’re not there yet, and we won’t be for I’m guessing another 3-5 years. But the progress is absolutely there, and I welcome it.

papa johns pizza sizes
papa johns pizza sizes FOR LARGE GROUPS

You are hosting a housewarming party for your entire extended family and friends.
Everyone will be there, from wicked aunt Patricia to sweet cousin Sally.
We know you are scared — how would you manage to order pizzas for the whole lot.
Ordering pizza for larger groups used to be scary — but not anymore.
Noting down a few things can help you make a viable decision, where everyone will get the correct amount of slices.
YOU HAVE TO CONSIDER ALL KINDS OF VARIABLES TO FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH PIZZA TO ORDER, SUCH AS:
· How many people are there in your group?
· How many of those people are adults?
· How many of those people are unlikely to eat more than one slice?
· How many of those people are expected to eat multiple slices?
· What’s the number of slices per pizza?
· And most importantly, what is everyone’s pizza preferences?
Let’s put a light upon these points one-by-one:
1. CONFIRM THE SLICE PER PIZZA RATIO (BY SIZE)
Pizza size generally varies between:
· Small Pizza: 8-10 inches with 6 slices.
· Medium Pizza: 12 inches with 8 slices.
· Large Pizza: 14 inch with 10 slices.
· Extra-large Pizza: 16-18 inch with 12 slices.
However, even this may vary depending upon the pizza store you are ordering from, so it’s always a good idea to confirm the number of slices beforehand.
2. THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE
Ordering pap john pizzas sizes for a large number of people is a great idea — because pizza is pretty much universally appealing. The best part is that it is easily customizable to suit everyone’s needs. That said, knowing how many people you are going to serve is necessary to place an order otherwise you might end up ordering way more than necessary, or way less than required — I can’t say which is worse.
3. AGE
Counting the number of guests is not really enough. You need to take their age into account as well.
For instance, even though your guest list includes 40 people, but notice how many of them are kids? What if they get distracted by the party shenanigans and don’t even sit down to have a bite?
All of these things will also have an effect on the number of pizzas you need to order.
4. APPETITE
Common pizza appetites include anything between one slice and five slices.
Not everyone has the same appetite.
Say, for example, the smart aleck in the corner of the room won’t eat more than one slice, and Joe is unlikely to stop before gobbling down at least six slices.
Ah, the dilemma!
Therefore, it’s always great to keep the appetite of your guests into account while placing an order for pizzas.
5. PREFERENCE1. CONFIRM HOW MANY SLICES ARE INCLUDED WITH EACH SIZE
Although the number of slices per pizza varies between pizza providers, on average there are:
· 6 slices per small 8-10-inch pizza
· 8 slices per 12-inch pizza (medium)
· 10 slices per 14-inch pizza (large)
· 12 slices per 16-18-inch pizza (extra-large)
2. GET GUEST PREFERENCES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
I am yet to come across a person who would say no to eating a pizza.
That said, you shouldn’t rule out the exceptional cases.
For instance, some of your guests might be on a vegan diet. Or maybe one of the guests is allergic to certain foods?
What will you do in such cases?
That’s why we suggest you get your guest’s preferences right in time in order to prepare something else for them. Try taking a general poll and ask them what they would like or if they have any dietary restrictions.
3. GET INPUT FROM THE PIZZA PLACE
I can’t mention this enough times — no two places have the same terms and conditions. Therefore, it’s always a good idea to get input from the pizza place beforehan
.
COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT ORDERING THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF PIZZA
Below are common questions people have when deciding what to tip a pizza delivery driver.
1. HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP WHEN MAKING A LARGE PIZZA ORDER?
If you are a pizza aficionado, then the chances are you order pizzas from time to time.
While you have mastered the art or ordering the right amount of pizza, you are still to master the art of tipping.
The pizza delivery driver who brings the savory pizza to your doorstep surely deserves a token of appreciation.
2. HOW SHOULD I ESTIMATE HOW MANY TO ORDER FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF PIZZA SUCH AS DETROIT, OR CHICAGO STYLE?
3. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT LIKE PIZZA?
You’d think that the question is absurd because this is pizzaaaa we are talking about — not just any other food.
Who doesn’t like it?
Well, contrary to popular belief, some people actually aren’t too fond of pizza or are more inclined towards healthy food in general.
In such cases, it is better to ask your guests beforehand whether they have special requirements. Accordingly, either prepare something for them at home or order something from a vegan restaurant.
4. HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP FOR LARGE CATERING ORDERS?
Somewhere between 10-20% is apt for large catering orders. It also depends on the type of delivery service you receive.
Let’s take the following instances into account to get an idea when you should tip a high amount:
· When the pizza delivery driver has traveled through drastic and inclement weather conditions such as snow and rain, then it is always courteous to tip a tip higher than on a normal day.
· When a larger catering order is placed during busy hours, for example, during NFL hours.
· When the service provided by the driver really impresses you
5. WHY ARE DELIVERY FEES SO EXPENSIVE?
The delivery charges include a whole lot of things. From expenses of hiring drives for delivery to paying for things like gas and insurance, pizza places have to cover a myriad of expenses to bring the food to your doorstep. Therefore, in order to continue offering a good delivery service, they need to cover their expenses so as to not go into losses.
7. DO I STILL NEED TO TIP THE DELIVERY DRIVER IF I ORDERED ONLINE?
Of course. We don’t see how ordering online makes a difference to your tipping etiquette. Irrespective of how you order and make the payment, the delivery is performing his or duty regardless of the situation. However, if you are paying online, the driver will share a receipt with you so that you can sign the tip line.
8. HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP ON DELIVERY APPS LIKE UBEREATS, DOORDASH, ETC.?
Again, no matter how you order or from where you order, tipping prerequisites remain exactly the same. Your tipping etiquette should not depend on the platform you are ordering from, but also on the quality of service you receive from the pizza delivery driver. Therefore, the tipping amount remains the same, between 10-20%, solely depending upon the delivery service.
CONCLUSION
Everyone is unique — we all have different tastes in music, food, cars, culture, and so on and so forth.
But our shared love for pizza unites us.
Once in a blue moon, we may even come across a smart Aleck lecturing us about the downsides of a greasy pizza and its negative impact on our heart, but try telling that to your brain.
Also, in your excitement to open your pizza box and get down to eating it, don’t forget to tip your server. A small tip might not make a lot of difference to you, but it would make a heck lot of difference to the pizza delivery driver.
So, next time you are eager to order pizza, don’t forget to follow through all the aforementioned guidelines.

All you really need is a domain (the name of your website .com) and hosting (an independent company responsible for keeping your website online). Hosting often costs as little as $3 per month, including a custom domain name.
What should you blog about? Well, people blog about EVERYTHING. Typically, it is not a diary but rather information about very specific topics. Popular topics include: parenting, personal finance, travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Any blog has the capacity to make you money through advertising, sponsored posts and affiliate marketing. We make most of our money from affiliate marketing – we get paid a commission for every product a person buys through out website links (these are tracked by a third-party system).
It is important to pick a topic that you are passionate about. The road to blogging success is not an easy one and you have to LOVE your blog topic, or you are unlikely to succeed. Blogging is not a ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme.
Blogging separates your time from your income. You don’t get paid an hourly wage, rather you put in some upfront work (e.g. writing a blog post) and you earn money from that post for years. It is the ultimate form of recurring/passive income. For example, 6 weeks ago I wrote a blog post that took me 2-3 hours. I have already made over $1000 in affiliate commissions from that post! I expect to continue to make money from it for a long time. This is the power of starting a blogging business.
#2 Freelance Proofreading
Freelance proofreading is one of the best ways for moms to make money from home. You don’t need to be an English major to learn the basics of proofreading and make a substantial income working from home as a freelancer.
There is a huge demand from proofreaders. For example, professional bloggers need online proofreaders to polish their blog posts. A proofreader doesn’t edit a document, they just put a final polish on it by correcting grammatical and spelling mistakes. Many bloggers start a side hustle as a freelance proofreader to help them pay their bills while working on growing their blogs earn money.
Most people have the ability to learn how to become a proofreader, but it is more suited for someone that pays attention to details. If you are one of the people that spots typo’s everywhere or you find grammatical errors very annoying – freelance proofreading could be for you! Needless to say, I am not one of those people – but thankfully my wife is.
I recommend taking a course to learn how to be a great proofreader and how to find clients quickly. One of the best courses that has helped thousands of people become full-time freelance proofreaders is called . The author is an expert proofreader called Caitlin Pyle. Caitlin was able to generate $47,000 per year working part-time as a freelance proofreader from home. She claims that she can teach others how to make up to $65 per hour proofreading!
#3 Become a Landlord
In 2014, my wife and I started running an Airbnb business from our home. We rented our 3 spare bedrooms in our town home to people visiting our town (Bozeman, MT). We made some really nice money – several thousand dollars profit per month as we were able to obtain quite high rent from the rooms. We provided breakfast and other amenities to ensure our guests had a good time.
It was almost completely passive income! We loved it, but it could be difficult at times. For example, we had one tenant that went into psychosis and nearly burned our house down…but this was a rare and isolated incident.
Perhaps you have a spare bedroom that you could rent out? Or maybe you have a whole part of your house that could be converted into a stand-alone apartment! Being a landlord is one of the most passive and lucrative ways to make extra money. We benefited from the monthly cashflow, but we also made over $100,000 selling the house just 3 years later.
This side business will cost you almost nothing to start if you already own your house.
#4 Legal Transcription Freelancing
This is a relatively unusual home business to start. There is a high demand for people to transcribe the ramblings of lawyers. The way it works is that many lawyer’s audio record meetings, testimonials and court proceedings. They have to pay a transcriber to turn the audio file into a professional quality written document for their records.
There is a very high demand for this relatively unknown business. Apparently, it can be quite entertaining to hear the bickering between lawyers! Your job as a freelance transcriber is to make sure that you get the whole event accurately transcribed.
You can make about $60,000 per year as a freelance transcriber.
Transcribing is not easy, and it is imperative that you do it accurately. There are many courses that teach you how to type more quickly and how to use a foot pedal to control the audio file that you are listening to. This is a clever technique where you can type and listen to the audio, rewind, and repeat to ensure that any difficult sections are transcribed accurately.
You can provide transcription services to a variety of people online – some bloggers even prefer to dictate a blog post and pay a freelance to transcribe it for them. This is often cheaper than paying a writer, and it allows the bloggers articles to sound more conversational.
The costs of starting as a freelance transcriber are minimal but it is recommended that you take a course and invest in a foot pedal for controlling the audio. This is still a small investment considering the earning potential.
#5 Online Scoping
Most people have never heard of scoping! A freelance scopist is usually hired to proofread and edit a court transcript. The court records are usually very rough and written in shorthand. A scopist will edit the document to make it legible. Usually, court reporters will outsource this work to independent freelancers. There is a huge amount of work out there because it is something that court reports dislike doing! Many people don’t even know that scoping is a thing, which keeps demand high and competition low.
The only cost associated with starting a freelance scoping business is the cost of a good course to teach you how to do it. Typically, courses cost a few hundred dollars. This is a small price to pay considering the earning potential of $50,000 – $100,000 per year working from home.
Hopefully, we have provided you with some inspiration and ideas for starting your own home business. These ideas can be used by you to make some extra money part-time or full-time all from the comfort of your own home. They can also be scaled up to generate more revenue by hiring people to help you – such as writing articles or getting you more clients. The income potential is limitless!
Let us know if you have a – how much did it cost to start? Do you recommend it to others? We have made a full-time income working from home for several years now, and it has given us the freedom to travel and live the life of our dreams.
One final note: Be very careful if you are thinking about starting a home business with a multi-level marketing company. These types of businesses can be very risky and even an outright scam (just with LuLaRoe!).
Good luck on your journey to work from home!

How Can You Build A Video Sharing Website of your own?
Currently, it is a notable fact that internet users are spending a vital portion of their online time on video sharing websites like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. In fact, studies have proven that almost 80% of internet traffic in 2019 will be video traffic (Source: SmallBizTrends). Video sharing platforms, by offering a central location for entertainment, learning, and marketing, are becoming everyone’s favorite. A video sharing website boasts of a remarkable business model that lets-
Platform owners to earn through Ads, and content publication.
Content creators to earn through brand promotion, copyrighting, and sponsorships.
What’s big in creating a video sharing website of your own?
Video sharing websites in 2018 remain not just a platform to upload videos, but sites like YouTube are inspiring and building a community of content creators. A single platform is acting as a prominent medium to connect content creators, viewers and brands together.
Of course, it takes a plentiful time to come up with a site like YouTube or Netflix, and much more than that to start earning with the business. However, it is also safe to state that video streaming as a business has just started and is not going to fade any sooner. Until that time, entrepreneurs have enough frames to create a video sharing website like YouTube and earn with it.
You just require an ideal business model and a highly targeted niche to squeeze out the maximum from this high grossing market. Consider YouTube and Netflix; both are video sharing platforms but operate with unique business models. YouTube, on one hand, utilizes Ad-based revenue model (A-VOD), while Netflix employs Subscription-based revenue model(S-VOD). YouTube in one hand chiefly relies on user-generated content; Netflix leverages both third-party content and Netflix Originals.
Can you build a Video sharing business without coding?
Conceivably, an Affirmative!
A few years ago, the answer would have been “NO” for sure. However, this is almost 2019, and web technology has made practically everything reachable to the mainstream people, indeed launching a video sharing website is no more a tough nut to crack. Readymade video sharing scripts have been working like a charm and have encouraged numerous entrepreneurs to venture in the market of VOD and Live-video streaming. There are YouTube Clone scripts offering the same capabilities as of YouTube, and Netflix clone with UI and monetization models identical to Netflix. If you are aiming for a business-grade video sharing website, you can invariably select a video CMS or a ready-made clone script to launch your business in no time.
How to choose a video sharing script or video CMS?
There is a catch, not all video CMS in the market are competent to fulfill all your goals. Some might offer VOD features, but miss out Live-streaming capabilities. While some might offer both, but not as a white-label solution.
In this case, a white label video sharing script is your safest bet. Such scripts are fully customizable, and one can revamp their UI completely to match their expectations and brand identity. Streaming engines and streaming servers generally power these scripts. As a result, one can also choose to utilize any third party streaming engine in spite of using one provided by the clone script vendor. Hence, always make sure to confirm if your clone script is hardcoded for a dedicated streaming server or they can also customize it to accommodate any third party server you wish for your business development.
In addition to the above affirmations, take an assurance on the flowing aspects from your video CMS or clone script vendor. These features and measures are of utmost importance for running a professional grade video streaming platform-
1. Stream Type support-
The platform must offer support for at least two major formats of video streaming platforms – VOD and Live Streaming. Do not hesitate to invest a little extra amount if they are willing to include both the features on a single platform with some customization cost. Retaining both the options will eventually pay-off.
2. Payment gateways-
The platform must offer integrated payment systems for on-site transactions. Based on your monetization method, users will be paying per-video or for the membership plans. Revenue generation is hard to achieve without a safer payment security on your platform. For example, PayPal or Stripe payment gateways.
3. HD content streaming-
Now that content consumers are getting used to 4K video streaming from Netflix, it has become even more crucial to offer something like that with your own streaming platform too. Let users stream in the highest quality possible. To make that sure, inquire a little deeper about the Streaming server, which has been incorporated in the particular video sharing script. For example, if Wowza or Nginx servers power the platform, it can definitely support HD quality streaming.
4. Multi bit-rate streaming-
If streaming in 4K or HD quality is crucial, streaming in multi-bit rate is even more crucial. Not all users have access to high-end devices or high-speed internet. By sticking only to the HD quality stream, you would be losing a considerable number of users who do not have access to high-speed internet or high-end mobile phones. Hence, make sure, if your streaming server is capable of offering dynamic switching of stream quality according to corresponding bandwidth or streaming device.
5. Multi-platform streaming-
Users these days consume video content across numerous platforms. Be it a mobile phone, computer, tablet, or smart TV video streaming platforms are offering applications and solutions on each of the popular platforms. A competent clone script will always offer cross-platform support for video streaming capabilities. Take Netflix for example, they have a web version in addition to their mobile apps and Smart TV apps.
6. Monetization methods-
Video streaming businesses are built on multiple revenue generation models. Some of the crucial monetization methods are Subscription (SVOD-Like Netflix), Advertisement (AVOD- like YouTube), and Transactional (TVOD- like YouTube’s Premium content). A competent streaming business in 2018 must necessarily support all the monetization methods to leverage every business opportunity in the market. YouTube sets an excellent example of a Hybrid revenue model by utilizing SVOD, TVOD, as well as the AVOD model.
7. Security features-
The business of multimedia or video content streaming is always prone to piracy. Despite all critical efforts, pirates do find ways to distribute content without authorization. There are ways to put a tab piracy through Advanced IP access control, Video encryption and Digital Rights Management. Always go for a solution that offers at least the above three measures to prevent piracy and unauthorized distribution of your content.
8. Social media login support-
The platform must allow social media integrations employing which users can be allowed to sign up quickly without manually filling the account registration forms. The features will additionally allow the platform to let users share and promote the service to maximize the user base.
9. Video performance analytics-
It is important to comprehend the performance level of each content being posted on the platform. The numbers must offer an insight into the reachability and revenue generated through a particular content on the platform. Moreover, the platform must also offer a seamless integration with Google Analytics and other platforms to evaluate the content performance with deeper insights like Gender, Age group, Geo-location etc.
10. Platform Customizability-
Above all, the platform must offer a sleek design and back-end architecture in addition to customizability for further enhancements in all the features. Looking out on these aspects will ensure your business does not run out of options for extending the technical feasibilities and other requirements in long run. Hence, invariably choose a platform backed by a futuristic technology. As of now, a script based on Node.JS is a safer bet. In fact, the biggest video streaming services of the century run on Node.Js: Netflix and YouTube.
What is the cost of building your own video sharing website?
It depends!
It depends on various factors. There are many Video Sharing script providers in the market. All of them have their own set of features and functionalities to offer in a particular price range. Moreover, before looking out for a competent YouTube clone or any video sharing clone script, you have to decide one more thing-SaaS or Open Source code?
Recurring cost– SaaS providers generally do not share the code with the clients and charge on a per-month or annual basis. However, the popular companies in this niche are well known for their high-end features and dedicated customer support in a 24×7 environment. Your platform will remain updated with the latest features as they regularly roll out security and feature upgrades.
One-time cost– The other option is Open-source-code scripts where you can purchase and own the script for good. These scripts are generally white-labeled and possess maximum customizability, as codes are constantly available with you. Moreover, you will not be paying monthly or annual subscription charges. You can always consult any third party or the same developer to add or customize a feature. You are also liberated to choose Hosting Server Provider (e.g. Bluehost and HostGator) and Streaming Server Provider (e.g. Wowza and Nginx) of your choice.
Make a wise decision
Now that you are aware of all the options you possess, you can evaluate your platform requirements and business goals to select the most reliable option that suits the most. The final cost of building your Netflix or YouTube-like video streaming website depends on the features and customization you demand on the base scripts. It is always wise to select a clone that offers maximum features in the base script alone.

The Democrat Is Up Big In Arizona’s Senate Race — For Now

The Democrat Is Up Big In Arizona’s Senate Race — For Now
Welcome to Pollapalooza, our weekly polling roundup.
Poll of the week
Holding onto all of their U.S. Senate seats in red states would all be for naught for Democrats if they don’t net the two pickups they need to take control of the chamber. This week, two polls came out showing that Democrats are comfortably ahead in one must-win state — Arizona, where Republican Sen. Jeff Flake is retiring.
But there’s reason to think that cushion won’t hold up to the rigors of the general election.
According to a CBS News/YouGov poll conducted June 19-22, likely Democratic nominee U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema leads all of her potential Republican opponents by at least 7 percentage points among registered voters: She leads Rep. Martha McSally 41 percent to 34 percent, former state Sen. Kelli Ward 43 percent to 35 percent and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio 45 percent to 28 percent. An NBC News/Marist poll conducted June 17-21 showed similar results: Sinema led McSally 49 percent to 38 percent, Ward 48 percent to 38 percent and Arpaio 57 percent to 32 percent.
If we take these results at face value, Arizona doesn’t even look that competitive; Sinema would be heavily favored. But there’s plenty of reason to believe that the race will tighten before November. One red flag is the high number of respondents who refused to support one of the two major party candidates. Instead, from 11 percent to 27 percent of voters said that they were undecided, intended to vote for a third-party candidate or won’t vote at all.
This week’s polls of the Arizona U.S. Senate race
Poll Dem GOP Someone else/other Not sure/ undecided Wouldn’t vote Total uncommitted Sinema vs. Arpaio (YouGov) 45% 28% 13% 11% 3% 27% Sinema vs. McSally (YouGov) 41 34 8 14 2 24 Sinema vs. Ward (YouGov) 43 35 7 14 1 22 Sinema vs. Ward (Marist) 48 38 2 12 N/A 14 Sinema vs. McSally (Marist) 49 38 2 11 N/A 13 Sinema vs. Arpaio (Marist) 57 32 2 9 N/A 11
Sources: CBS News/YouGov, NBC News/Marist
But many of these voters won’t stay uncommitted. Undecided ones will hop off the fence, and lots of people who now say they’ll support a third-party candidate probably won’t follow through with it. (Third-party support tends to decline as campaigns progress.)
The large share of uncommitted voters adds a layer of uncertainty to the race. Remember, we saw the same thing in 2016; Hillary Clinton had a small lead over Donald Trump heading into Election Day, but the unusually high number of undecided voters helped Trump squeak out an Electoral College win.
The uncommitted bloc looks likely to help the GOP in Arizona too. According to the crosstabs of these polls, these Arizonans are disproportionately Republican. For example, in the YouGov poll pitting Sinema against Ward, 92 percent of self-identified Democrats back Sinema, 4 percent aren’t sure and 1 percent want to vote for someone else — but among self-identified Republicans, just 75 percent support Ward, 11 percent aren’t sure and 8 percent say they’ll vote for someone else. In Marist’s Sinema-McSally matchup, 88 percent of Democrats are behind Sinema and just 2 percent are undecided; just 77 percent of Republicans support McSally and 13 percent say they’re undecided.
Why the disparity? Republicans are in the midst of a contentious primary between McSally, Ward and Arpaio, while Democrats are united behind Sinema. Many Ward voters, for example, are not inclined to think kindly of McSally at the moment, and that’s probably keeping some usually reliable Republican voters from telling pollsters they will support the party’s nominee no matter what. But by the fall, these voters usually return to the fold as hard feelings from the primary fade away.
These voters alone probably aren’t enough to erase a lead as big as the one Sinema has, but Republicans haven’t yet begun attacking her in earnest; when they set their sights on her after the primary, her favorability with independents (a subgroup she is winning in all three matchups in both polls) probably will drop. But so far, with mud flying on only one side of the ledger, it hasn’t been a fair fight.
I’m not saying Sinema can’t win (let’s not get too cute; these polling numbers are great news for her), but I am saying Democrats would be foolish to take Arizona for granted or divert resources from it on the basis of a few early polls. Demographics make Democrats’ path to victory in the Grand Canyon State a narrow one: Despite a growing minority (especially Latino) population, it is not yet a big enough share of the electorate to hand Democrats a win on their own. Sinema could still win by performing respectably among white voters, which she does in the polls from this week. That’s possible because Sinema has forged one of the most conservative voting records of any House Democrat and Arizona is a fairly elastic state, meaning its voters are generally persuadable. But at the end of the day, it is still discernibly red — 7 percentage points further right than the nation as a whole, according to FiveThirtyEight’s partisan lean metric. Once Arizona’s base partisanship sets in and currently uncommitted voters come home to their usual camps, this is likely to be every bit the toss-up race everyone thinks it will be.
Other polling nuggets
64 percent of Americans said they are not at all interested in the FIFA World Cup, and 69 percent said they do not intend to watch any matches, according to a recent YouGov poll.
In light of Sarah Huckabee Sanders being told to leave a restaurant because she worked for President Trump, a Harvard-Harris Poll asked if it is acceptable to discriminate against people in public restaurants for their political views; 28 percent said it was acceptable, while 72 percent (including 60 percent of Democrats and 80 percent of Republicans) said it was not.
The Harvard-Harris poll also asked Republican voters why they support their party. Sixty-nine percent said it was more because they support the policies of Trump and Republican candidates, while 31 percent said it was more because they oppose the policies of the Democratic Party and its candidates.
A Gallup Poll found that 75 percent of Americans say immigration is a good thing for the country. That number includes 65 percent of Republicans and 85 percent of Democrats and is the highest Gallup has found since it started asking the question in 2001.
According to a Rasmussen poll, 40 percent of Americans oppose the creation of a “space force” as the sixth branch of the military. Thirty-three percent favor it, and 27 percent are not sure.
A majority of Americans keep their cellphones on or directly next to their beds when they sleep, according to a YouGov survey.
23 percent of Americans have no money saved for emergencies, according to a survey by SSRS.
Americans have some pretty big misperceptions about the makeup of the two major political parties, according to a new study released in the Journal of Politics. Democrats for example, estimate that 44 percent of Republicans earn over $250,000 per year. In reality, only 2 percent do. Our colleague Perry Bacon Jr. wrote more about the study and its implication.
Mexico hosts a federal election on Sunday to choose a new president and congress. According to the last public polls conducted prior to the blackout period (during which publishing polls is banned), the left-wing populist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is the front-runner. He leads the competition by nearly 26 points, according to an average of polls taken by Bloomberg.
Trump approval
According to FiveThirtyEight’s tracker, Trump’s approval rating sits at 41.9 percent; his disapproval is 52.3 percent. That -10.4-point spread is a tad wider than the -9.2-point spread from one week ago, perhaps indicating that last week’s immigration controversy has taken its toll. However, it’s close to the 10.1-point gap (42.4 percent approval, 52.5 disapproval) from this time last month.
Generic ballot
According to FiveThirtyEight’s model of the generic congressional ballot, Democrats are winning the race for Congress 46.5 percent to 40.1 percent over Republicans. That 6.4-point lead is little changed from their 6.3-point advantage (46.9 percent to 40.7 percent) from last week and just a skosh higher than their 5.9-point lead (45.6 percent to 39.7 percent) one month ago today. As a reminder, experts believe Democrats need to win the House popular vote by around 7 percentage points to flip the chamber.

Greece (2017)
TRIP OVERVIEW:
Dates: 11 days, 10 nights in mid-June 2017 (avoid coming in July/Aug, which are the hottest and most popular months)
Locations: Santorini (3 nights), Mykonos (4 nights), Athens (2 nights)
Cost: About $2,400 for flights, ferries and accommodation. Changed about $1,100 SGD. So about $3,500 per person.
Airlines: Turkish Airlines (to Athens via transit in Istanbul), Olympic Air (domestic flight from Athens to Santorini). Turkish Airlines cost us $970 per person. Note that in late June 2017 (after our trip), Scoot begins flying to Greece.
Accommodation: 3 Airbnb apartments (each was on average of about SGD $200 per night)
Santorini: https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/12790006?eluid=0&euid=49d285e0-854b-be7e-4f0e-ee7e2dfcc3b9

Ferry tickets booked via https://www.ferryconnection.com for ferries from Santorini to Mykonos, and Mykonos to Athens
Internet: Wifi is widely available for free in most eateries. You do not have to book the Wifi router from Changi Airport
Food: Cost of food is high in Santorini and Mykonos (think an average of 20 Euros per person for most meals), but relatively cheaper in Athens. Greek food is generally meat and carbo-heavy, and can be described as a cross between Italian and Turkish food. Notable dishes we ate a few times were moussaka (like lasagna) and souvlaki (skewers). Lower your expectations for coffee and cakes.
Transportation: We barely took any taxis for this trip. In Santorini and Mykonos, taxi rides are apparently fixed at 30 Euros regardless of your destination, so we mainly walked and took buses to specific beaches. However, waiting times for these buses can be long due to how they may not arrive punctually. Clear signage is also lacking, so ask around or follow other tourists to go to the right pickup points. In Athens, you can take the Metro, which is pretty straightforward.
Summary of the 3 places: Santorini will amaze you with it’s natural and architectural beauty. The white buildings, sunsets and views are exactly like how they look in postcards. Mykonos is a must-visit if you like partying and are discerning about shopping and F&B options. Athens has much less to offer, with the Acropolis ruins being the main attraction.
SANTORINI
Key highlights: Oia, Ammoudi Bay, Imerovigli, Fira, Kamari Beach
Accommodation: https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/12790006?eluid=0&euid=49d285e0-854b-be7e-4f0e-ee7e2dfcc3b9
Day 1 (Santorini)
Walked from Air Bnb in Finikia to Oia area. A seaside town area with beautiful views and a variety of shops and eateries in charming lanes. Then we saw crowds waiting for sunset at northern tip of Oia. Beautiful spot for photos. Then we walked down 300 steps (donkey shit) to Ammoudi Bay, where we had dinner at 1 of 4 seafood restaurants there. Airbnb is spacious and beautifully designed as a cave house. Excellent service too, in terms of planning transport and helping Weetz to receive new luggage bag to replace a damaged one from Olympic Air. Main problem is the walk to the main road (approx 10 min), which leads to Oia town. Can feel dangerous at night, and the pavements and steps are rocky, which makes it tricky for old folks or those who have to carry luggage on their own.
Day 2 (Santorini)
Morning breakfast at cafe in Oia with caldera view. Trekked for more than 5 hours from 2pm from Oia to Imerovigli and Fira. Quite a physically challenging trek due to uphill and rocky paths. But breathtaking views of the caldera in the west and the coast in the east! Ate at Avocado resturant in Imerovigli, which is relatively sleepy town you will pass by before Fira. Finally reached Fira in the evening, which is very commercial and crowded compared to Oia. But this also means much more shopping and F&B options. Dinner at Ouzeri, which was thankfully near bus interchange. We ALMOST missed the last bus back to Oia from Fira at 10pm. Thankfully bus interchange was near Ouzeri. Paid 1.80 euros for bus ride.
Day 3 (Santorini)
Beach Day. All buses to everywhere on the island start and end at Fira. Like an interchange. First took bus from Oia to Fira, paid 1.80 euro again. Wait for bus outside Tourist Info Centre of Oia. No clear signage and directions to find this waiting place, ask around. Buses come in 30min intervals. Check schedule online by googling Santorini local bus schedule. From Fira, took another bus (20 min interval) to Kamari Beach, which has many many beach chairs and eateries along a pedestrian walk. We ate at one named Albatross Beach Bar. Beach chairs here belong to the restaurants that they are in front of. So have a meal before going to the beach chairs. Took a bus back to Fira to explore the shopping lanes. Ate at Chill Box (yogurt ice cream) and Lucky’s (pitas and souvlakis).
MYKONOS
Key highlights: Charos (AMAZING), Super Paradise (ALSO AMAZING)
Accommodation: https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/17341323?eluid=0&euid=8535eec5-8e64-6e55-685d-93b4b437eec7
Day 4 (Mykonos)
Air Bnb host arranged transport from house to new port of Santorini, where we took a ferry to Mykonos. Tickets were booked via ferryconnection.com and the company Sea Jets, and cost 67 Euros each. Duration of ferry ride is written as about 2 hours. But actual duration may be longer. Don’t plan things too tight. Arrive at least 90 min before ferry ride to collect tickets. Be prepared for some chaos at the port. Our original ferry was delayed by an hour, so we were told to take an earlier one. There is no systematic queue to board the ferry, and you have to leave your luggage unglamorously in a dubious storage area with everyone else before going upstairs to sit. Basically, you may feel like a refugee.
Our Mykonos Airbnb was in a very beautiful hipster area Fournakia in the old town, just behind Balengiaca boutique. Very classy lanes and shops! Walking distance to Little Venice, waterfront eateries of Yalios, and LGBT nightspots like Babylon and The Piano Bar. As a whole, this amazing area is called Mykonos Old Town (Charos). Possible future hotel to stay is Hotel Carbonaki, next to our Airbnb. As a whole, excellent service at this Airbnb, with friendly hosts who gave us directions and cleaned the room punctually at 1pm daily. This Airbnb is more like a hotel room instead of whole house but they own other options if you have more than 2 people
Day 5 (Mykonos)
Went to the iconic old windmills by the sea and Rarity Gallery, a small but impressive art gallery.
Recommended Mykonos eateries: Pepper, Vegara, Lotus, Souvlaki Story, Kitchen Lab for cakes and soft ice cream
Recommended Mykonos LGBT nightspots: Jackie O (main dance club with drag shows and an amazing branch at Super Paradise) Lola (intimate bar for drinks espresso martini, lemontini) Porta (smaller dance club but with great pop r&b music). Drinks such as Mojitos are about 12 euros.
Day 6 (Mykonos)
Short walk from Airbnb to bus area in Fabrika, to take private minibus to Super Paradise (9 Euros per person two ways, bus leaves every 30min, again be there earlier as they leave a min or two earlier than scheduled.). Super Paradise isn’t a huge beach area, but the absolute highlight is Jackie O, the LGBT-friendly club perched on top of a slope to the right of the beach. Such incredible party vibes, even with daylight! Dancing in the open while facing the ocean is amazing. The beach itself is split into 3 section, which charge for use of the beach chairs. The cheapest is 10 Euros, the most expensive is 25 Euros each. Pricey, so plan to stay for the whole afternoon if you can. The sun is very lovely in mid June, and we were not sunburnt despite spending hours suntanning. Mediterranean winds!
Day 7 (Mykonos)
Took bus from another bus terminal at Old Port to Elia Beach, also known as a popular beach for LGBT tourists. This bus is less frequent than Super Paradise one, although larger. Unlike Super Paradise, towels are not provided with beach chairs. Paid 15 Euros each. But there is no clubbing aspect here, although there are indeed many LGBT visitors. As with other beaches, some topless nudity from women, and drinks are sold separately. Sun today was quite unbearably hot.
ATHENS
Key highlights: Acropolis, Plaka, Monastiraki, Ermou Street

Day 8 (Athens)
Took ferry from Mykonos new port (again Sea Jet company, tickets about 60 euros prebooked via ferryconnection.com) to Piraeus port of Athens. Our AirBnb turned out to be in a fantastic location at Dionisiou, less than 500m away to a ticketing booth for the Acropolis, and just a street away from the Plaka shopping district. Huge apartment of 2 living rooms and 2 bedrooms. Shops in Plaka open till pretty late, around 10pm or so on average. Not hipster shops, but enough variety for decent souvenirs and window shopping.
Day 9 (Athens)
Woke up early to reach Acropolis before 9am, so as to beat the crowds and avoid afternoon heat. Tickets cost 20 Euros per person. Made the right decision to reach early, as number of fellow visitors was reasonable. But weather quickly turned very hot by 11am, which made climbing up and down the winding paths quite tiring. Took a while to find the Theatre of Dionysus on our way down. We then walked for about 20min from our Airbnb to the National Museum of Contemporary Art. The walk made us realise that some parts of Athens are really not very pretty due to urban decay. Museum itself was new and pretty, and we caught a special 100 days contemporary art exhibition from Germany called documenta14. Brief rain showers a couple of times today, the first of our entire trip.
In evening, we walked from Airbnb to Syntagma Square, which is a central shopping area that faces the Greek Parliament. Walked to Ermou Street, where we saw fashion brands like Zara and H&M here, and had much needed Asian food for dinner!
Day 10 (Athens)
Since we had to leave Airbnb by 12pm but only leave for airport at 8pm, we had to deposit our luggage somewhere for the afternoon. Through a tourist info kiosk, we found a Athens Studios hostel near our Airbnb that charges a per day fee of 8 Euros for luggage storage!
Took metro to Monastiraki Metro station, which we stumbled upon the night before and met 2 different Sporean acquaintances. Seems like a bustling F&B area, with the only Starbucks we saw in Athens haha. A very popular food street is Mitropoleos. Lunch with Denise’s family at rooftop Electra restaurant of a hotel named Electra Metropolis Hotel, which apparently charges affordable room rates too, despite good proximity to shopping area.
On the way to airport, taxi driver used some time to show us a side of Athens we never knew about, basically a coastal residential area that feels very Beverly Hills and much more affluent than the city centre we experienced.
