“Tasuku! Guess whose back in town!?” Gao exclaims, running up and hugging his best bud tightly. Out of all of them, he was probably the one who was still a child at heart, his love and care for his friends still was very much apparent in his pure excitement at seeing an old friend.

“It feels like ages since we last saw each other! How have things been going?! You been looking after my boy like I asked? I hope he hasn’t been causing ya any trouble!”

Gao’s tight embrace continued for as long as he could, the man truly enjoying the contact. Man, it truly had felt like ages since he last saw his big sis. Then again, it was his fault for staying away for so long. Sure, the kids in America needed him to help teach him, but his mother certainly wasn’t slouching either. Guess he really should schedule some time off around the wedding, or maybe sooner than that. Either way, he really should go home at some point.

“Sorry, sorry! It’s just...It’s just been so long, Suna!” The dojo master then slowly lets go of her, remembering that she wasn’t the biggest fan of being all mushy in public. Guess that was still true now just as it had been when they were younger, huh? “You’re gonna have to tell me all about the stuff I missed, since I clearly missed a lot with Tasuku finally popping the question! Why don’t we go out for some lunch and you can tell me all about it then? Sound good!?”

The Stars Aligning Has Led Up To This... (A Tasuna Drabble)

@senpujin​ I promised you this when I got back from vacation. So, here you go <3

Suzuha really had gone all out for today, a day she and really everyone had been anticipating for years and years now. Tasuku and Setsuna were the first of their friend group to get together, happening not too long after Tasuku transferred to Aibo Academy. Everyone thought they would have officially tied the knot already, but considering the nature of both their careers, it was understandable Tasuku waited until he and Setsuna were in situations to settle down before popping the question.

He currently stands at the end of an alter on a private beach on an Amanosuzu private island along side the best man. Picking who would take on that honored role was simple, the Mighty Sun Fighter being the most fitting one. After all, not only was Gao like a brother to him but he also was a big part in bringing Tasuku back from falling into the darkness completely. If it wasn’t for his help, he wouldn’t be standing here right now prepared to marry the love of his life for over a decade now. 

The groom though was lost in thought, currently staring at the sky as opposed to the place he knew Setsuna would soon be walking down with her father. Was he really ready for this? The Buddy Police member knew his feelings, knew them for a long time as a matter of fact, but was he ready to be a husband? To officially move in with her? To maybe start a family with her one day? 

There was no doubt he still held guilt in his heart for what they had gone through in the past. He had caused her to experience pain directly and indirectly, something he never wanted to ever inflict on an innocent. Tasuku was a man who fought for justice, to protect his world from the evil that tried to uproot it. How was he fulfilling that duty, the one bestowed upon him, when he can’t even protect people from himself?

“Hello? Earth to Tasuku? We’re going to be starting soon!” Gao gently bumps his best bud’s shoulder, knowing Tasuku all too well and trying to get him out of his funk. “Don’t tell me you’re getting cold feet, man!”

“S-Sorry Gao, I just sort of...”

“Spaced out because you’re overthinkin’ this? What are ya worried about? Everything’s gonna be fine!”

“I wonder about that...I wonder if I’ll be able to really be what she deserves. If I’m really...good enough for her.” He is sure his voice is loud enough where only the best man can here, not wanting his personal fears to reach the audience of happy friends and family. The last thing he wanted was to ruin the anticipation of the ceremony with his own insecurity. Though, he knew keeping it to himself was not really a healthy choice. So, that’s why he is able to so easily tell his best friend about this, knowing Gao would listen intently and do his best to help.

“Tasuku...” Gao says, his eyes softening as he can read Tasuku like a book. He, along with pretty much all of the officer’s loved ones, had tried to get him to not be so hard on himself. Though, they also knew just how stubborn the blue-haired man was. “You and Suna have been together for over a decade now, and in that time, you two have been through a heck of a lot. Even when you guys were separated, in different worlds even, you two still made stuff work. That just shows how great you guys are for each other.”

Sunshine hues then shift towards their friend Gaito who was in the audience, sitting next to Abigale on Tasuku’s side of the venue. “Don’t you remember Gaito telling you two often how you guys getting together was destiny? I don’t usually believe in stuff like that, but with you two, I can honestly see it. They did always call you the Boy of Destiny, right?” 

Gao’s words seem to warm his cold feet, Tasuku moving to look back towards the crowd. It was  funny how simple logic sounded not so simple when it came from your own mind compared to someone else’s. Setsuna and him had gone through hell and back together, and in the end, they were as strong as ever. She had chosen to stick by him despite his sins, despite the distance between them for the last seven years. She had chosen him, just like he had chosen her. 

“You always know just what to say, Gao. All these years later, and you’re still like the sun.” He was happy to have Gao still by his side, as he was with the rest of his loved ones. The Sun Fighter had grown to be like a brother to him, and there was no doubt in Tasuku’s mind that whenever Gao decided to tie the knott, that he’d be right by his side as his best man. The two eternal rivals would always be there for each other, a bond forged through years of Buddyfighting and countless adventures.

“No need to thank me, man. Just doing my job as the best man.” Gao smiles back, before both their attention is directed towards the end of the venue. The music started to play, the signal of the starting of the ceremony. “Alright, enough talk. Let’s just get this show on the road, huh?”

Tasuku nods, readying himself as the entrance to the beach venue slowly begins getting filled with the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Moroha, Suzuha, Rin, Kuguru, along with Towa as the maid of honor entered, Noboru, Zanya, Baku, and Tetusya entering along with them as the groomsmen. Once everyone got into position, the entire audience filled with loved ones of Setsuna and Tasuku stood as the music that signaled the bride’s entrance played.

All eyes were on Setsuna as she came down the aisle, being escorted by her father. Tasuku’s eyes, however, were focused only on his soon to be wife. The way her brown gentle hair blowed in the ocean breeze, the elegant gown Suzuha had specially made for her adorned with lace and ruffles, and the pure smile on her face all caused his heart to skip a beat. She was beautiful, a perfect image of beauty and grace that he was soon about to have and to hold forever. 

What a lucky guy he was to find a girl like her. He might have always thought being the Boy of Destiny meant he was destined to save and protect this world. While that still might be the case, he seemed to lean into Gaito’s words even more. He was meant to be with Setsuna, meant to help her just as she helped him, and now...he was going to spend the rest of his life with her alongside their family. He was going to officially add her to his, and no doubt he was going to make sure to be worthy enough for his bride.

“I won’t let her faith in me ever be in vain. I won’t let her ever get hurt as long as I can help it. And most importantly, I’ll make sure she knows that every day...that I love and cherish her with all my heart.” Were his final thoughts before Commander I, who was overseeing the ceremony, began his part. It was the start of the next chapter for them, for Mr. Tasuku Ryuenji and soon to be Mrs. Setsuna Ryuenji...

“Yup!” The face of the Scourging Swallow beings a smile to the Sun Fighter’s face though, not having seen her since her wedding day all those months ago. He had come to the headquarters of the Buddy Police to see her husband, wanting to check on Yuga’s progress and see how the city had been in his absence, but all of that could wait. Wait till he’s gotten a chance to catch up and hug his big sis Suna, that is.

“Man, I’ve sure missed ya, Suna!” He says after pulling her into his arms, giving her the biggest and tightest hug he could muster to show just how much he missed the woman. Oh, how he wished he could come home more often. “So, how’s married life been treating ya? You gotta show me you and Tasuku’s new place sometime!”

“Why, of course I do dear! I am a wedding planner, after all! It would be quite odd if I did not, now wouldn’t it?” She replies, a smile on her face that then softens as she thinks on the dreams she has had over the years. “I’m not sure when it will be or who it will be with, but I know it is going to be nothing short of magical! I’ll see to that myself!”

“I know it’s difficult. How could it be easy, Suna?” Gao remarks back, his expression turning somber as he speaks but still having a small smile too. “But...my work in America is somethin’ I just gotta do, and my family knows that and supports me. I do always make sure to do my best to make up the time we do miss, and make sure to check in on um’ and send them things on occasion. Maybe one day I’ll move back to Japan full time when I feel like there is enough trained professionals there to teach our students properily, but who knows? The future is wide open.”

“I’d be lying if I said they didn’t cross my mind a few times, especially after the conversations we have had regarding children. However, I still believe what I said to you back when we were kids is true. The Tasuku who those children descend from is not me. My heart...has always been yours and yours alone, my Songbird. Never would my heart desire for someone like her.”

“I am? Are you sure thats alright with Paruko?” Honestly, he’s touched for being the first for him to visit. If he were to go on a journey and return home, Gao would be the first he’d like to see to. The only difference is that he isn’t a married man. Tasuku is certain that Gao can get out of whatever may come his way from her, so he won’t but his head into their business.

“Trust me, he’s a force to be reckoned with. There’s still plenty of room for him to grow into an exceptional Buddyfighter.” He could see the love and enthusiasm for the game in Yuga’s eyes. It was similar to his father’s, with his desire to push and keep going while having fun as well. And to witness a match between the two…well, it would prove to be an interesting show! Yuga was strong and while he may have lost to him, he doubts that Gao would.

“I suppose we should be thanking her for that then. Tell her thank you for me when you return home.” He wasn’t sure when he would get a chance to see Gao otherwise. Life was fairly busy with his position and going overseas for a simple trip wasn’t that easy. “If any of your students take a trip over here, I’d have to see for sure. But, aside from your martial arts, how are the Buddyfights over there?” He knows his friend loves the game and wouldn’t stop playing it any time soon.

“Yeah, it will be fine! As long as I get home before midnight, she won’t tear my head off Tasuku!” He chuckles at the words, but is fully serious when doing so. Paruko worried about him just as much as his own mother, that fact being pretty understandable considering they were married and all. Honestly, he never had expected to ever get married or even fall in love if you had asked him when he was a kid, but he certainly did not regret it. Gao loved his family with all of his heart, even if he did not get to see them as much as he would like.

His golden hues shine with that pride for his family at hearing Tasuku’s words. He knew his son was talented, but the fact he’s gotten so good at Buddyfighting fills him with a sense of joy that was indescribable. And while he still knows the boy has a long way to go as Tasuku stated, Gao was willing to do everything one could to help his son while he was here. Gao was the best Buddyfighter in the world, as far as most people knew anyway. 

“If he’s getting high praise from you, then I know he’s doing good. I couldn’t be prouder.” He remarks before nodding to his request regarding informing his mother. Gao was planning on calling her when he got home, both so she would know he got home safe and so he could talk to Paruko and the boys. She was quite the prideful grandmother, indeed. “Oh, the Buddyfights are as explosive as ever! Though, I gotta say? I miss the Core Gadget days. They made things a lot more interesting.”

it  took  only  a  moment  in  which  she  closed  her  eyes  for  her  face  to  change .  facial  muscles  relaxed  &  stoic  features  softened  into  a  gentle  smile .  guess  it  helped  his  case  that  some  things  never  change  ,  even  after  so  many  years..  &  the  distance .  but  neither  has  she..  right?  

setsuna  accepted  the  offer  proposed  to  her  by  gently  hugging  his  arm  ,  purple  eyes  being  revealed  as  she  opened  her  eyes  to  look  at  him .  a  move  she  wouldn’t  have  done  in  her  younger  years  (  maybe  not  all  things  stay  exactly  the  same .  )  ❛    it  would  be  foolish  of  me  to  refuse  an  escort .  who  knows?  maybe  you’d  turn  out  to  be  a  better  tourist  guide  than  a  buddyfighter .      ❜  words  meant  to  jest  were  softly  spoken  in  her .  

❛   besides  ,  i  know  of  someone  who  would  like  a  report  of  your  status .   ❜

If this is when they were younger, Gao might have freaked out just a bit by her sudden arm hugging. The memory of when he had possessed Tasuku’s body for that short period of time still was burned into the man’s memory, after all. Now though, he could simply relax as he helps start to lead Setsuna out of the airport and into the bustling city streets. They were that comfortable with being platontic to each other, even if both were in committed relationships. 

“I don’t know bout’ that, but I’ll do my best! Tasuku asked me to look after ya while you’re here.” He starts, the two heading towards the exit at a slow but comfortable pace. “I’m sure you do, but she isn’t the only one who’d like an update. I wanna know how she and my boy is doing! Yuga was so small since I last saw him in person!”

The fact he was a father and a husband was still something he was coming to grasp with, even after being married to Paruko for several years and having had Yuga a few months ago. He never did see himself getting to this point, but no doubt he was happy he did.
