HAPPY BLOG ANNIVERSARY!

it's  officially  midnight  here,  which  means  i'm  allowed  to  post  this!  so ...  happy  one  year  anniversary  of  enduring  the  plague  of  avalon  upon  your  dashboards!  alternatively,  thank  you  so  much  for  giving  me  a  place  to  babble  about  my  #1  favorite  comfort  character  who  has  experienced  zero  comfort.  (  i  swear  i  am  being  SO  NORMAL  about  this.  yes i did literally buy  cake  and  party  hats.  )  whether  we  speak  on  the  daily,  you've  just  gotten  here  or  anywhere  in  between,  i  want  to  extend  my  sincerest  gratitude  for  being  on  this  absolutely  wild  ride  of  a  blog  with  me.  there's  been  ups  and  downs,  but  ultimately  i  feel  like  my  passion  for  writing  has  been  ignited  stronger  than  it's  ever  been  before.  i  am  still  always  so  excited  whenever  i  get  the  chance  to  log  on  here  and  create  stories  with  all  of  you  —  and  i  wouldn't  have  that  opportunity  if  it  wasn't  for  this little  corner  of  the  internet  you've  helped  make truly special.

there  are  so  many  of  you  i  feel  lucky  to  have  met.  (  and  so  many  i  would  love  to  get  to  know  better,  too!  )  i  hope  we  can  continue  writing  together  for  many  more  anniversaries  to  come.  and  if  the  day  ever  comes  that  they  finally  pull  the  plug  on  this  cockroach  of  a  hellsite,  i'll  forever remember  this  community  as  the  rpc  that  got me to  laugh  at  petrichor.

hello  hello  new  anon!  ✨  kazuren  started  way,  waaay  back  over  on  our  original  blogs.  (  erabundus  and  momijiba  respectively.  )  milla  and  i  actually  made  our  accounts  within  a  few  days  of  each  other.  basically  as  the  story  goes,  i  made  ren's  blog  first  and  just  so  happened  to  reblog  a  gifset  from  milla's  account  —  which  drew  their  attention  to  the  genshin  rpc  and  led  to  them  creating  kazuha.  we  started  writing  together  before  wanderer  was  even  released;  i  think  our  first  couple  interactions  with  one  another  kind  of  ended  up  retroactively  retconned  because  all  we  really  had  to  go  off  of  for  ren's  character  at  that  point  was  the  drip  marketing.  i  had  actually  been  writing  scaramouche  on  and  off  for  years  prior  to  that  point  —  but  i  was  sick  of  having  to  remake  my  headcanons  every  single  time  hoyo  decided  to  throw  a  few  lore  crumbs  into  an  artifact  set,  so  i  decided  to  temporarily  retire  his  muse  until  he  was  finally  playable  and  i  had  a  more  solid  foundation  to  work  with.

in  any  case,  we  wrote  together  for  a  while  and  started  messaging  OOC  —  first  through  tumblr's  terrible  IM  system  and  eventually  graduating  to  discord.  kazuha  and  ren  ended  up  having  very  fun  chemistry  together  so  i  decided  to  take  the  plunge  and  ask  milla  if  they  were  interested  in  shipping.  something  important  to  note  is  that  we  generally  DON'T  plot  out  too  much  for  kazuren.  (  like,  ever!  )  we'll  have  general  ideas  like  wanting  kazuha  to  propose  or  ren  telling  him  about  the  fatui,  but  in  practice  we  kind  of  let  them  play  off  of  each  other  and  see  where  it  takes  them.  i  think  it's  led  to  their  relationship  feeling  a  lot  more  authentic  than  something  meticulously  planned  down  to  the  very  last  detail.  for  instance,  they  only  actually  got  together  in  the  first  place  because  a  stupid  joke  about  potassium  snowballed  into  an  argument  —  which  led  to  ren  confessing  he  only  wants  to  give  kazuha  a  good  life  and  kazuha  confessing  in  turn  that  the  only  way  for  that  to  happen  would  be  if  ren  was  a  part  of  it.

it's  been  almost  TWO  IRL  YEARS  since  they  started  dating  and  a  little  over  one  since  they  got  engaged.  we  fully  plan  on  writing  out  their  wedding  at  some  point;  we've  talked  about  potentially  making  it  a  dash  event  so  everyone  can  have  fun  with  it  —  we'll  see  what  happens!  whatever  the  case  may  be,  i'm  so  so  happy  i've  had  the  opportunity  to  write  this  ship.  it's  changed  my  brain  chemistry,  it  lives  in  my  head  rent  free,  they  are  the  guys  ever.

ALSO  it's  only  because  of  kazuren  that  i  had  the  chance  to  meet  and  get  to  know  my  best  friend,  and  for  that  i'll  be  forever  grateful.

wanderer  is  quite  literally  my  favorite  fictional  character  of  all  time  —  the  entire  reason  why  i  even  got  into  genshin  to  begin  with  was  through  unreconciled  stars.  i've  always  had  a  huge  soft  spot  for  characters  people  tend  to  perceive  as  mean  and  bratty  because  i  just  find  their  antics  more  entertaining  than  anything  else  and  scaramouche  scratched  that  itch  in  my  brain  perfectly.  couple  that  with  the  inherent  mystery  of  his  character  and  just  how  little  screentime  we  actually  had  to  work  with  at  first  and  i  was  sold  completely.  i  had  a  google  doc  filled  with  every  scrap  of  dialogue  and  artifact  set  description  so  i  could  analyze  them  for  clues  about  his  personality,  lore  and  speech  patterns.  i  woke  up  at  6am  to  check  twitter  the  day  his  drip  marketing  was  rumored  to  come  out.  my  original  url  was  based  on  a  leak  of  what  his  constellation  might  be.  (  it  was  wrong!  but  i  kept  it  because  i  thought  it  was  funny.  )  i  saved  enough  through  welkins  and  playing  daily  to  get  his  c6  the  moment  his  banner  actually  dropped.  writing  him  reignited  my  motivation  for  roleplaying  and  allowed  me  to  meet  my  closest  friends.  he  is  just  such  a  cool  and  important  character  to  me  and  i  think  he's  very  neat.  ✨

i  also  just  love  writing  muses  that  aren't  human?  i  used  to  also  write  albedo,  though  that  was  predominantly  on  discord  —  and  a  lot  of  my  non-genshin  muses  tend  not  to  be  entirely  human  either.  i  find  it  lends  itself  to  really  fun  headcanons  and  worldbuilding  —  i  like  looking  at  some  funky  little  guy  and  going  "huh.  how  do  you  work?"  and  kind  of  building  on  the  lore  from  there.  but  honestly,  i  think  ren  strikes  a  really  good  balance  where  delving  into  his  psychology  is  equally  as  fascinating.  his  brain  is  such  a  wild  place  —  he's  very  logical  and  methodical  but  also  deeply,  DEEPLY  emotional  and  so  many  of  his  actions  are  warped  by  past  experience.  he  makes  wildly  incorrect  assumptions.  he  lies  by  omission.  he's  unapologetically  blunt  —  but  he  really  does  mean  it  when  he  says  he  holds  everyone  to  the  same  standards,  himself  included.  he's  just  a  deeply  flawed  character  and  all  around  not  the  most  pleasant  person  to  be  around,  but  i  enjoy  portraying  his  negative  qualities  as  much  as  i  do  his  positive  ones.

unfortunately  for  everyone,  i  can  yap  about  this  menace  for  ages  when  i  feel  so  inclined.  SVSVJKD  tl;dr  thank  you  again  for  the  ask,  anon!  i  have  a  ton  of  fun  writing  ren,  and  it's  really  wonderful  knowing  other  people  are  enjoying  my  babbling  too!
