faye + film inspo.

kabe no ma. literally translated as between the walls, a woman is trapped in the confines of her own home while recovering from an illness that takes her ability to walk. while left to her own devices, her sanity slowly deteriorates as she becomes convinced there's a woman living in the walls of her own home. it's a film that explores the paranoia that can come from being a prisoner in your own home, and how damaging isolation can be to an already fragile psyche. the ending shot of the woman crawling over her husband's unconscious body is a direct reference to the story that inspired it, the ye.llow wallpaper. this was produced a year after faye's release from a mental institution. the film debuted at the o.saka asian film festival and developed a cult following. non mutuals, including personal and resource blogs, do not reblog this.

people who don't like lae'zel because she's "mean" are cowards and hypocrites jhdbnmdfd

of all the companions, wyll, karlach, and halsin are the only ones who aren't mean in one way or another. gale can be condescending, astarion is blatantly violent and manipulative, shadowheart is judgmental and in the grasp of shar - and i would wager that the reason for this hypocrisy is because they are more conventionally attractive than lae'zel is. there's an inherent 'sexuality' attached to the other three.

lae'zel is mean, and doesn't lie to you about it. she's abrasive and upfront, and there is no manipulation in her words. this is less palatable, apparently, than the alternatives.

and the frustrating thing is that people seem to be able to acknowledge that the undesirable traits in the others are only temporary and that as the story progresses, so do they - but don't seem to be willing to apply the same to lae'zel. which sucks!!! because lae'zels character development is just as compelling, and just as admirable, but again - i think she's too upfront and less sexy, and so people write her off as unlikeable and 'too mean' and what a shame. what a damn shame!!!
